Erin O’Reilly’s squad has filled more than a few cells at Riker’s Island with violent thugs, mobsters, and murderers. The New York prison is notorious for overcrowding, corruption, and violence. But Erin and her team haven’t worried about the crooks they’ve locked up—until now.
A dirty cop is viciously stabbed to death in the Riker’s infirmary. It has to be an inside job; evidence points to an unholy conspiracy of inmates and crooked Corrections Officers. Erin isn’t sorry the bad cop is dead, but the murder is only the first act in a desperate power struggle for control of the remnants of a once-powerful Mafia family.
While Erin, her K-9 Rolf, and her fellow officers try to stem the flood of violence, they find new trouble in their own station: a tough Internal Affairs cop has come to clean house. The new Lieutenant is willing to do whatever it takes, even if it means tearing the Eightball right down to its foundations. With enemies on all sides, it will take all Erin’s grit and determination to stop heroes and villains alike from shattering everything she’s worked to build.
Steven Henry is the USA Today bestselling author of the Erin O’Reilly mysteries and the Clarion Chronicles.
Steven learned how to read almost before he learned how to walk. Ever since he began reading stories, he wanted to put his own on the page. He lives a very quiet and ordinary life in Minnesota with his wife and dog.
"Vino Blanco" is Book 27 of the Erin O'Reilly series. As said in previous books in this series, this episode was better than all the previous episodes Also, as always, Rolf the K9 German Shepherd Dog, is my favorite character. The author has built a strong character, both physically and psychologically in that beautiful dog. I also love all the good human characters . . . Erin, Vic, Carlyle, Corky, and several others, both biological and police family members of Erin's. This episode ties up many of the dirty players, from police to judges to lawyers. We are also introduced to the new main Lieutenant of Internal Affairs: is she another corrupt individual, or will she bring redemption to the Right Ball? I gave this book 5 big fat stars, or should I say the author earned that five star rating?
Great read! Erin, Vik, & Lt Webb ride to the rescue on their white chargers!! This author does a great job of character development right down the line! The good guys are so thoroughly good, and even some of the bad guys have redeeming characteristics. Look forward to the next installment!!
I should have started this after I woke up instead of just after dinner. Man I could not put this down till the last page! LOL, now I've missed breakfast and am having a late lunch, before hitting the sack! Great job once again Mr. Henry!!!!
