This exciting new edition of Working Together includes several new chapters that deliver an even more robust and high quality resource to complement our first edition.
It is edited by Pat Dudgeon, Helen Milroy & Roz Walker and written by various Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal authors from around Australia.
The book is funded through the Australian Government Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and endorsed by Hon Senator Scullion, Minister for Indigenous Affairs. It was developed by Working Together team and the Kulunga Aboriginal Research Development Unit at Telethon Kids Institute.
I found this book for a school essay and it is a great comprehensive work encompassing the history of colonialism, western psychology and how it differs from aboriginal philosophy, while also highlighting past and present policies impacting aboriginal mental health. I have a feeling I will be using this a lot in my bachelor of psychology.
This is a fantastic resource. It's also available online, so there's no excuse for anyone in the field not to read it! It's a really good introduction to Indigenous perspectives and the historical and policy context of issues facing Indigenous Australians.
