After being introduced to Rosamund in the first book of the series, I was eagerly awaiting her story alongside the Duke of Camden, and this book did not disappoint. While it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book.

Rosamund is an intriguing character—she's not just a wealthy heiress but also an intelligent spinster who has long given up on the dream of having a family of her own. Her strength and resilience are admirable as she navigates her role in society.

Stuart, the Duke of Camden, is in dire need of funds, and a marriage of convenience to Rosamund seems like the perfect solution. What starts as a practical arrangement quickly transforms into something far more passionate, much to the surprise of both characters. Their chemistry is undeniable, and for those who enjoy a bit of steam in their romance, this book delivers. Warning: This is not a clean read—the heat between Rosamund and Stuart is intense.

The writing is well-crafted, with Scarlett weaving in rich details that enhance the story and make it even more engaging. I also enjoyed the character of Megs, who brought humor to the book and even stole a few scenes.

Overall, I’m excited to see where the series goes next and look forward to more characters from The Wicked Dukes Society. If you're a fan of historical romance with passion and well-developed characters, this and other books by this author are a must-read.

Stuart Gilden, the Duke of Camden, is suffocating beneath a mountain of debt caused by his wastrel father and gambling brother, Wesley. To make matters worse, he’s being blackmailed by a mysterious enemy who has threatened to destroy his family by revealing secrets. Miss Rosamund Payne, London’s greatest heiress has the wealth Camden so desperately needs but three years ago she was betrothed to his brother. When Stuart comes to her with a shocking proposition, she’s cautiously intrigued. Soon, Rosamund finds herself exchanging venomous barbs and searing kisses with the insufferable duke, lured by the prospect of revenge and the undeniable heat smouldering between them. With their marriage of convenience secured, Camden’s problems should be at an end. But in truth, they’ve just begun. Because his enemy has only grown bolder and more demanding.
The second book in the series but with all series I have to read from the beginning plus the author’s books are always brilliant so I’d recommend reading in order. Another engrossing, captivating romance with a touch of mystery. I loved Stuart & Rosamund, their chemistry was electric & whilst they were physically compatible they also grew to like each other & of course fell in love. Stuart was trying his hardest to turn the dukedom’s fortunes around but needed Rosamund’s injection of cash to help, he’s everything you’d want in a hero, he was loyal to a fault. Rosamund is intelligent, down to earth & has a maturity which I loved. Megs Rosamund’s parrot was a delight & her turn of phrase so amusing.

Another breathtaking love story by Scarlet Scott! Couldn’t put it down. Witty and beautifully written, Scarlett is an amazing fluid writer that just takes you into the story. I adore Megs the parrot! Piping up in the most hilarious of times! Duke of Camden holy scorching hot! Love a good icy duke with a filthy mouth! Rosamund is spirited and sassy! Makes for a fun enemies to lovers! They come together for revenge; throw in some blackmail and secrets, and the story becomes a page turner. Stuart and Rosamund's relationship turns hot and intense, leading them into their sizzling forever love story! And scorching hot this story is!

For the first time in ages, I actually read a book instead of listening because the narration was terrible! The British accent of the male narrator was so freaking bad that I couldn’t take it. Note to authors: don’t hire a narrator for your Victorian Romance if he can’t do at least a passable English accent. I can only imagine what Derek Perkins or Shane East could have done with this narration.

Normally when a book has a bad narrator I just forget about it, but this book has EXACTLY the level of steam I’ve been looking for. This man was REALLY into cunnilingus. He lived underneath her skirts! 😆

This plot should have been great but the execution was weak. I would have expected a Duke to be more take charge and don’t let himself be controlled by his stupid brother. Everything he did at the end could have done at the beginning! Worse, he never seemed to anticipate his brother’s shenanigans.

The only remarkable thing about the heroine was her parrot and that she had a mind for business. I wish we had seen more about the latter, instead of her painful recollections about the time the brother duped her. And the revenge part of the marriage of convenience wasn’t fulfilled.

Definitely worth the read if you like steamy books but beware the plot wasn’t executed as well as it could have been.

I really am not enjoying this series as much as I have some of others, i.e., winters, suttons, etc. This one was about an impoverished duke whose brother is a total jerk who was betrothed to the heroine before this book started. She had ended it with him when she found out he was totally not in love with her and had mistresses and a child. Now his brother the Duke needs her for.her money and.he convinces her to.marry him. They.lust for each.other and there are just far too many sex scenes for me. And they were repetitive. I wanted to.love this but.it.just doesn't quite live up to her previous series'. I wasn't as engagwd. I didn't like the first one either so we will.see how the next one sounds but I may not.read it.

Another one of Scarlett Scott's books that kept me up all night reading it! It was well worth missing the sleep..

Stuart needs a wealthy bride so he seeks out the one woman who probably hates his family with a passion but she's richest woman in London.. and what better way to convince her to marry him then revenge against his brother.. however she has conditions of her own..

Rosamund can't stand Stuart because of his brother Wesley what his brother did to her and the fact that Stuart did nothing to warn her about his brother, however when he proposes a marriage of convenience, she sees a way of finally having a family of her own.. and finally experiencing passion..

They thought they would enter their marriage as only a business agreement however immediately after one kiss, it's anything but business, it's passion.. it's emotional, it's about love and about the fact that they can't live without each other..

This story was incredible from the beginning to the end..

PS Megs the parrot stole the show..

I can't wait to read the next book from Scarlett..

I received this book from the author as an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest voluntary review and this is purely based upon my own personal opinion and that of no else.

I’m always excited to read a Scarlett Scott book because I know that it will have a wonderful storyline , delightful characters, and a sizzling romance! She Never disappoints! Oh , besides all that, this one includes a foul mouthed parrot, that is a real hoot ! Rosamund and Stuart are a wonderful couple. He is the impoverished Duke of Camden, thanks to a wastrel father and brother, and she the heiress Spinster that he convinces to marry him. What starts out as a marriage of convenience quickly escalates into so much more, to the reader’s delight! Loved it!

I loved Stuart and Rosamund's story! Their history was so interesting, and I loved that they managed to come together after it. Megs was probably one of my favorite parts of the book, and I loved seeing Stuart come to love her too. I've loved the start of this series and can't wait for the next book!

3.5 - First HR in a very, very long time. It was around 300 pages, but felt much shorter. Easy reading. For some reason, the talking parrot irritated me almost to the point of putting down the book for good. And I love animals! Anyway, good for something different.

A Duke with a heart of gold…OMGOSH, bring him on. This is such a sweet story. Stuart makes this story for me. The story has so many of my favorite things - family-oriented, kindness, loving feelings, and oh so sexy. And there is a parrot that is hilarious and interjects at inappropriate times – loved her. This is a beautiful story of the journey to love amidst hardship.

This is Book 2 in the Wicked Duke Society!
This is such a wonderful and addictive series! With secrets and blackmail. Such a well written and detailed storyline and deliciously written steamy love scenes!
Stuart the Duke of Camden needs to marry as soon as possible. He proposes a marriage of convenience with his brothers former fiancée.
Rosamund is a pretty heiress and I loved how strong and independent she is. So when the Duke of Camden proposes she accepts.
This book made me laugh because of Megs the African grey parrot and her naughty words. I enjoyed reading this book which made happy for Rosamund and Stuart, it also had heartache and tragedy. But everything ended happily ever after for them and Megs!
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I absolutely loved Stuart and Rosamund. The banter, the parrot, the intrigue, the enemies to lovers…SOOOO Good!! I could not put this book and read late into the night! The characters were well defined and the plot was well-developed and the dialogue kept the story flowing! The story is still living rent feel in my mind. Stuart and Rosamund were wonderful in their push and pull, give and take, demanding, determination and their mutual hot and spicy surrender to each other. I absolutely adored Megs, Rosamund’s parrot, with her colorful language and final fondness of Stuart. She definitely added some wonderful humor to the proceedings. This story had so many different tropes: enemies to lovers, family dysfunction vs family of love, learning to trust, steam, and the vulnerability of falling in love. It was an amazing fall on both their parts!
I cannot wait for the next in the series!!
Brava Scarlett!! Brava!!

“𝓨𝓸𝓾’𝓿𝓮 𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓭 𝓶𝓮, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂 𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓸𝓯 𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼, 𝓘 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓴.”

First- much thanks to Scarlett Scott for the opportunity to advance read the newest installment in her Wicked Dukes series, a book I was eagerly awaiting.

I was not disappointed!

Book 2 follows Miss Rosamund Payne, a spinster heiress whose family fortune was made in trade. Rosamund had once been engaged to a young lord - Wesley Gilden - who only sought her for her fortune, and she called it off when she realized the level of his duplicity, including a pregnant mistress.

Fast forward a few years, and Rosamund continues to run her father’s business empire, whilst also moving within the upper echelons of society, and a select few females of the ton are numbered amongst her friends and confidantes.

She is approached by Stuart, Duke of Camden, seeking to make a marriage of convenience to salvage his family’s coffers, with an unexpected twist for Rosamund - the opportunity to exact revenge on her former intended… and Stuart’s younger brother.

There is no love lost between the brothers, as Wesley - a dissolute wastrel and profligate gambler - has done more than his fair share to further deplete the family’s fortunes that their father has already run into the ground. In addition, Stuart is being blackmailed with secrets that would destroy their mother and their position in the ton.

Scarlett Scott is an absolute genius in creating fabulous historical romance that makes a reader believe in HEA.

This was a very fast and easy read. I typically enjoy Scarlett Scott a lot more, but felt the plot here needed more development. The main intrigue was honestly to me a bit unrealistic, given the MMC’s background and resources, and the unraveling of it was very hasty. As usual this was full of well written spicy scenes; felt I would have preferred more dialogue between main characters to help reader connect with them.

This author's books tend to always be hit or miss for me. And when they miss, it's usually for the same reasons. Sadly, this book was another of those examples.

To begin with, I just could not connect to either of our main characters. Stuart is supposed to be a Duke. You know, one of the highest ranking peers of the realm, and yet he allowed his absolute wastrel of a brother to do as he pleased (which included gambling away money that Stuart had no way to pay back). Time and again, he says that he can't cut his brother off, or throw him out as it would "upset their mother", all the while acting like it wouldn't upset her if he bothered to make her see just how dire their situation had become. Then we have Rosamund, who was easily distracted when she should be focusing on more important things, or worse yet, who became overly emotional when she couldn't have her way (for example when Stuart tells her that he can't reveal the secret hanging over him because it isn't his secret to tell, she immediately goes on the defensive and accuses him of not trusting her which isn't the case at all).

And then of course, there are the numerous scenes of a sexual nature which to me do absolutely nothing to move the plot along. I believe these are included as a misguided way for the author to attempt to deepen the emotional connection between Stuart and Rosamund, however to me, it has the opposite effect. To me it seems as though they merely lust after one another, so when they sudden realize that "somewhere along the way" they fell in love with each other I struggle to find where it happened. I really need there to be more depth to the conversations and the interactions between the couple that happen outside of the bedroom.
Finally we get to the main plot point. The aforementioned secret that is so horrible Stuart will pay any amount of money to keep hidden. And pay again. And again. Because for some reason he seems to think the solution to being blackmailed is to keep paying the outrageous sums and hoping the blackmailer will go away. Instead of you know... using his ducal powers to track down who is blackmailing him in the first place? Maybe hiring someone else to find them if he didn't have the time, or instead of paying the sum demanded, using it to bribe the solicitors into revealing who their client was? Of course, for me at least, it was pretty obvious early on who the blackmailer was, but that could just be because I'm cynical and mistrust everyone.

Overall, while this was a disappointing read for me, but I will keep trying other series' from this author as I see how highly recommended she is by others.

Duke with a Debt is the second in Scarlett Scott’s Wicked Duke’s Society series and I enjoyed it very much.
Stuart Gilden, the Duke of Camden is in desperate need of funds to bolster his estates – left in dire straits by his terrible father and further being eroded by his wastrel brother’s gambling debts. The perfect solution would be to marry a wealthy heiress and Miss Rosamund Payne would be the perfect candidate. There is only one problem. Miss Payne is his brother’s former fiancée who has reason to hate them all.
Rosamund cannot believe it when Camden proposes. Her immediate reaction is to say no – but she cannot help but be tempted by his proposition that this marriage would be the perfect revenge on his brother. So they enter into a marriage of convenience – but they soon come to realise that they might have made the best decision of their lives.
Rosamund and Camden are very likeable characters and I loved watching them achieve their HEA. Camden is actually a very noble character – not at all a Wicked Duke to be honest. He is struggling to keep his family afloat and having to deal with a blackmailer to protect someone close to his heart. He is honest with Rosamund and is enamoured with her the whole of the book. Rosamund is a great heroine. Smart, practical and independent. Loved Megs the parrot!

Duke of Camden Stuart Gilden is sinking beneath a mountain of debt caused by his wastrel father, gambling brother, and a blackmailer threatening to spill family secrets. Miss Rosamund Payne is London’s greatest heiress and an excellent match...if only she wasn’t his scoundrel brother’s former fiancée.

This is the second book in the Wicked Dukes Society series. I really enjoyed meeting Stuart and Rosamund in the previous book and was excited for their story, which does not disappoint!

Rosamund has been plagued by fortune hunters and even fell prey to Stuart's scheming brother. She wants to marry and have children, but she's feeling more and more like it isn't going to happen. Enter the Duke. Stuart needs Rosamund more than she needs him, but he manages to convince her to give him a chance...and a little bit of carriage shenanigans go a long way.

Scarlett Scott has quickly become an auto-read author. I know I'm going to find a well written story with a good plot, likable characters, and heaps of steam. There is also a pet parrot that injects some comic relief. This book was another delight and I can't wait to meet the next troublesome Duke in the pack.

Tropes: Sibling's Suitor, Spinster, Must Marry Money, Marriage of Convenience, Opposites Attract, Revenge-ish

Steam: 5

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Duke with a Debt (Wicked Dukes Society Book 2)

Another great novel by Scarlett Scott, she will keep you coming for more novel after novel. Duke with a Debt will be no different, with Stuart and Rosemund a story just waiting to be written.

He, the Duke of Camden, has a bundle of debt trying to hold his family together. She, an heiress and business owner, has a bundle of wealth having been destroyed by his brother….. Solving his debt and giving her revenge is a marriage of convenience. That is all in the first few chapters and things only get more complicated and surprising from there. Can he keep things cold, can she keep her heart sheltered, and will the enemy end everything before they can find a way to bridge walls they have erected to protect the secrets they hold close.

Fast based novel with twists and turns you don’t see coming, worth the read. Serious problems are faced by Stuart and Rosemund, but in the middle of everything you will have to laugh as Megs makes an appearance from book one in the Wicked Dukes Society collection. Hint to the reader: do not start this novel if you have something important the next day as you will be up very late finishing this novel.

Scarlett Scott stays in her bag, and Duke with a Debt proves it all over again. We’re talkin’ a bold, brilliant heroine, a broody duke with baggage, explosive chemistry, and a parrot who is mad disrespectful.

The characters? These two had me locked in from the beginning. Rosamund Payne is all brains, backbone, and beauty. With her trash-talking bird, Megs, Rosamund is a force to reckon with. A no-good man might've bruised her heart, but he didn't break her stride. And Stuart Gilden, the Duke of Camden, is tall, dark, and drowning in debt. He's grumpy on the outside and emotionally constipated on the inside. A rake, burdened by his title's weight… at least until Rosamund steps in to show him how to shoulder it together.

This book has jokes, heat, and enough tension to make you yell at the page. The banter stays sharp, the steam stays steamin’, and Rosamund and Stuart? They go from fake marriage to real feelings real fast. If you like your romance with bite, boldness, and a whole lotta spice—this one’s got you covered.

And before I dip, let’s talk about King. Scarlett always sneaks in that one side character who steals scenes—and King is him. Whatever she's planning for him, I’m perched and ready… get it? Perched like Megs… the parrot… ah, forget you! 😉

The author once again proves why she’s among the best in historical romance. Her masterful storytelling, vivid characters, and ability to create passion with emotional depth make The Duke with a Debt an unforgettable read.

Stuart Gilden, Duke of Camden, needs a wealthy bride, so he seeks out the one woman who probably despises his family the most. Miss Rosamund Payne, London’s wealthiest heiress, has exactly what Camden needs. Despite her disdain for Stuart—thanks to his brother Wesley’s past misdeeds—she agrees to his marriage of convenience, but with stipulations - she wants a family of her own and a taste of passion.

Their arrangement quickly ignites into explosive fireworks after their first kiss. From that moment, emotions run high, passion takes over, and they find themselves falling madly in love, unable to imagine life without one another.

Let's not forget the true scene-stealer, Megs the parrot. With impeccable comedic timing and hilariously inappropriate remarks, Megs adds a delightful layer of charm to the book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m such a fan of Scarlett Scott! All her books are SOOOO GOOD!
This series is just GREAT! Rosamund is a beautiful character, so strong and sensible at the same time. Stuart is just desperate. The blackmailing, his sick mother, his abominable brother, everything seems to be falling apart and he can´t stop it. Until he proposes to Rosamund. I loved that they are so open and almost transactional in their manners. They don´t ask for love, but they are going to find it nevertheless. Once they are married, the chemistry is off the chart and they can´t keep their hands to each other.
Even though Stuart is in an impossible situation, he is still much in control of his feelings and in their play of seduction. Rosamund is his equal in every way and she doesn´t make him feel a beggar. There’s respect and empathy and that was just amazing to see.
Of course there are many steamy moments, but also sweet and emotional ones. Meggs, the parrot is a delight. So funny and naughty.
I highly recommend this author and this book.

This was unexpected we have Stuart Gilden the Duke of Camden is devastated by the bills and gambling debts his brother Westley blithely bestows on his desk and poverty stricken estate daily!
Enter one Miss Rosamund Payne ex-fiance to his brother Westley and hopefully his new Duchess! It’s been three years since the debacle and now Stuart is beyond desperate!
He offers Rosaumd a chance for revenge and to become a mother! He also alters the marriage contracts so she retained most of her massive fortune! These two entered a business arrangement but Rosamund can not protect her heart and these two are a walking contradiction! It seems our former spinster loves dirty talk and Stuart is excellent at it! These two are like rabbits in Heat!
But someone is Black mailing Stuart over his family’s past!
Can they truly learn to trust each other and have a future!
What if your blackmailer is much closer than they think and won’t stop until he’s had his revenge!? Bravo well done! We need a bonus epilogue!

Tropes: marriage of convenience; MMC is being blackmailed
Steam level: 3

3.5 stars; this just doesn't have the re-readability factor for me to round up to 4. I jumped into this series with this book right after getting back into KU. It's a quick read, but I kept going back and forth with my review, to the point I almost didn't post one. Scarlett Scott's books used to be a fun guilty pleasure for me, especially her Winters series, but it felt like something was missing here. I'm not sure if I would have liked this better if I'd read the first book? The writing style is fine, the storyline starts off well enough, with a nice infusion of humor, but then things become rather mechanical, with the baddie easy to guess and the MMC's lack of ability to figure out what's been going on stretching credulity. There is plenty of steam, but I wanted more depth between the MC's.

If you're a long-time fan of this author, you might like this well enough, but it doesn't compare with some of her books from a few years back.

Another fantastic addition to this series!!! The wicked Duke of Camden, Stuart Gilden, is drowning in debt and is being plagued by a mysterious blackmailer. He sees Miss Rosamund Payne as the perfect solution and offers her a marriage of convenience. She was once engaged to Stuart's brother that ended badly and vowed never to marry again. Stuart convinces Rosamund the best revenge would be to marry him. Rosamund is a fiercely independent business woman with a humorous pet parrot. She doesn't need Stuart but she does yearn for a family of her own with children. Can she overcome the hurt of her past? And can Stuart convince her that she is worthy of love and devotion. This author never disappoints with a wonderful story of how two people for different reasons take a chance on happiness. The chemistry between the characters is off the charts!!! You will absolutely love this book. Can't wait for the next book in this series. I received an ARC of this book and is my honest review.

Stuart, the Duke of Camden, is broke and in debt due to his wastrel father and gambling brother. Stuart is also being blackmailed by a mystery enemy who threatens to reveal a family secret.

Rosamund Payne (who we met in Duke with a Reputation) is a wealthy spinster heiress who has the wealth Stuart needs but who also was previously engaged to Stuart's scoundrel brother, Wesley. Stuart proposes marriage to Rosamund in exchange for vengeance against his brother. At first Rosamund refuses, but eventually agrees as she desires a family and children. Rosamund is a caring, intelligent woman who has Stuart sign a contract where Rosamund will keep control of her fortune.

Rosamund and Stuart’s marriage of convenience soon turns into so much more than they anticipated. I absolutely loved this well-written, page-turning, passion-filled romance filled with witty banter, an adorable, chatty pet parrot, Megs, and suspenseful twists and turns. Loving this series!

I loved this book even more than the first in the series. The two main characters, Stuart and Rosamund, were older (in their 30s) and didn't marry each other out of love but rather she wanted a child and he wanted her considerable fortune to pay off his irresponsible younger brother's gambling debts. In a twist, the younger brother Wesley had been betrothed to Rosamund but broke her heart. A marriage of convenience turned into one of passion and love despite Wesley trying to wreck their happiness. I loved the epilogue which told how Stuart and Rosamund finally got what they wanted, each other. The only thing I didn't like was that we didn't find out what was in Stuart and Wesley's mother's journals which Wesley had stolen from her and was using her "secrets" to bribe Stuart to give him more and more money. Perhaps this will be explained in the 3rd book which I am just starting to read now.

Book two in this wicked duke series and what a series it is .
The Duke of Camden and the spinster lady Rosamund oh and not forgetting her beloved foul mouthed bird mags make for a witty ,thrilling and passionate read ,
A marriage of convenience made out of greatly needed funds for the duke having been bled dry by his wastrel father and brother and as Rosamund is incredibly wealthy it seemed like a great solution .
They marry quickly and soon find out that their passion for each other ignites feelings that neither expected or wanted after all it’s a business arrangement….isnt it ? Rosamund gets a family and Stuart gets his debts paid …..however things don’t always happen as expected .
The story is full of sizzling hot and erotic scenes that that we all expect and love from Scarlett writing them so beautifully.
A lovely story and can’t wait for the next one in this series .

Duke With A Debt by Scarlett Scott is the 2nd book in her new series the Wicked Dukes Society, which is a group of noblemen who are friends that hold scandalous house parties. This particular story is about Stuart, Duke of Camden, and Rosamund Payne. Rosamund is everything one would want in a heroine- smart, witty, loyal, adventurous, and independent. Rosamund is approached by the Duke of Camden for a business arrangement that turns into so much more! Rosamund and Stuart are so different, but they complement each other so well, and when they are together it is one very hot moment after another! This is a sweet story about redemption, love, family, and of course, secrets topped off with a very sassy parrot named Megs who has a very colorful vocabulary! I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to the rest of the upcoming stories in the Wicked Dukes Society series!
