Blue Moon #6

The Fine Art of Faking It

Rate this book
Davis Gates. Naked. Tossing her a handful of orgasms like he was on a lust-themed parade float.

A fifty-year feud.
One failed smoke bomb matchmaking scheme.
Two enemies turned fake lovers.

For the past fifteen years, Eden has worked her ass off to overcome high school. She’s cornered the tourism market in Blue Moon offering visitors a place to stay in her hippie, dippy hometown. Business is booming, she’s close—but not too close—to family, and she’s got two dogs to keep her company. Life is perfect. Almost.

She also has the misfortune of sharing a property line with the crush who broke her teenage heart.

Davis spends his days gently wrestling control of the family winery from his father’s semi-retired hands. He doesn’t have time for things like dating and love. Especially since he never got over hurting his dream girl in a fog of teenage stupidity. Now, they’re neighbors… and the latest generation to carry on their families’ ridiculous, fifty-year feud.

When the Beautification Committee resorts to an unprecedented—and disastrous—matchmaking scheme, enemies Eden and Davis have to team up to bring them down. But will their fake relationship get too real?

A breath of fresh air in Blue Moon

Blue Moon #6 is more of an amazing rom-com and less of "another blue moon book." I'm certainly not saying it isn't hilarious (laughing out loud waking my kiddos from nap), and it contains all your expected Blue Moon spectacles...but it's so much more. It takes place 5 miles outside of town and those 5 miles create a side of this town I've never seen, along with a new feeling I've never had here...it's absolutely breathtaking.

Eden is a mix of hot mess, determination, redemption driven, thoughtful, and a generous spirit. Davis is basically everything. I loved the second chance element paired with dueling families, it wasn't too much, it was perfect. The flashback to Blue Moon HS where their story all began was one of the best beginnings I've read in a book.

I couldn't have imagined a better addition to the Blue Moon series...of course we weren't left without some Pierce/Merrill updates and joy and the always entertaining town meeting. This though, was an excellent representation of the talent of the author...the ability to take what we already love and make it refreshing.

3.5/5⭐️ I thought for sure I’d be sick of this series by now, but I’m still loving it. The feud between Eden and Davis was so fun and entertaining. 🩵 I’m going to be really sad when this series is over 😭

Thanks LS for another wild, wacky, loveable Blue Moon romance. Extra thanks dear author for including the Pierce Brothers, wives and Sheriff Cordova into Eden and Davis's love match. Can't get enough of the Pierce crush. Fun read. Hope there's more to come.

Another fun, funny and sexy read in the Blue Moon series

This time the main characters are Eden Moody, who runs a local inn and Davis Gates who runs his family’s winery, which is next door to the inn. 15 years earlier Davis broke Eden’s heart at a HS dance and she has never forgiven him. After a fire at Davis’ house at the winery, the Beautification Committee (BC), which has been trying to match up Eden and Davis, coerced Eden to let Davis stay at the inn while his house is repaired. (I will say that the BC is still irritating on so many levels, having left quirky behind a long time ago, but at least they got a bit of comeuppance in this story.) Anyway, one thing leads to another and Eden and Davis decide to have a “fake relationship”…with benefits… in order to “break up” later and ruin the BC’s reputation for making perfect matches. A complicating factor is that Eden’s and Davis’ families have been feuding for over 50 years.

Eden and Davis are great characters and evenly matched for complexity. Eden never got past the night that Davis broke her heart in HS and its aftermath, and Davis never stood up to his parents and took charge of his own life. They both help, or force the other to see how they have to relearn and reshape their personal histories in order to grow and move on.

There are many funny scenarios in this story, especially the progressive Thanksgiving dinner. Many of the characters from the previous books are woven into the story so it’s like spending time with old friends. This is the first book that doesn’t focus mainly on the Pierce and Merrill families and lets us get to know some of the other townspeople more. I really enjoy spending time with the characters of these books. Although the stories are fairly predictable, there is something very soothing and satisfying about them.

A definite recommend for this genre.

Wow ... am I glad I started this series ... this book is a genuinely sweet second chance romantic comedy ... set in a hippie town and written with some truly hilarious comedy ....
The town beautification committee decides to pair H and h up so they throw a stink bomb in his house so that he will be forced to stay in h's inn ... fifteen years ago, teenage h was accused of setting fire to H's parents lawn after he stood her up at the school dance ...
He didn't stand her up, he just never stood up to his parents for his decision to date h ...
oh and incase I forget, H and h's families have been fueding for many years and no one even remembers why they are still fueding .... its disclosed at the end in a funny way ...
H and h were amazingly real and the town setting really cute ...
All in all, a funny read ... worth the time to read it ...

Again ridiculous storylines, I mean the heroine is holding a stupid grudge from the past 15 years against the hero? I mean come on they were kids! Then the whole blowing up the house to get them together was too over the top. As usual the H was more into the h than her. I did like that this series has kept a similar tone throughout which I have enjoyed.

Another fun trip to Blue Moon. Really enjoyed this installment. A wine maker and inn keeper with meddling townsfolk is the light romance I needed right now. The fake dating wasn’t terrible. I was a bit irked by the FMC’s refusal to move on from high school, but it was really a minor annoyance. Overall sweet, easy read. Always nice to see old friends.

i feel like the author didn’t intend for the series to go on this long because how do we suddenly have characters that are such good friends and basically family with the original characters yet weren’t in the first three books???? but still good i guess.

Not my favorite of the series so far… the conflict was very petty. But very amusing in the end when you find out what really happened.

Eden and Davis

Growing up in the same town Eden and Davis went to high school together. They were sweet on each other and agreed to meet at the HeHa dance. Things did not go as planned; Eden has held a grudge against Davis for 15 years.

When a disaster forced Eden into letting Davis stay at her Inn she had a hard time remaining civil around him.

Very sweet enemies to lovers story with all the crazy that’s usual from the citizens of Blue Moon. I loved it all and wish I could actually visit this town.

Let the games begin

An enemies to love romance. Should be smooth sailing. Right? Not if your a resident of Blue Moon.

Expect arson but only in good way. Have no where to live? The inns next door run by Eden Moody the one woman he’s never been able to get out of his mind or heart. The could’ve beens have played on our leads mind since high school. But now Davis has a chance to make things right and keep her forever.

Eden has lived in Blue Moon her whole life. After making one small mistake (it may have involved a small fire) one that she was only a witness to and the whole town will never let her forget. She’s now older, runs the inn and wants more than anything to win that best business award. It will cement her standing in the town.

What she didn’t envision is Davis back in her life. Mortal enemies she can’t see this ending well.

But when the residents of the Blue Moon beatification group put these two in their sights you are guaranteed front row of hilarious laughter.

A must read.

Another crazy time in Blue Moon. Davis and Eden were awesome. In spite of the Beautification committee, their family’s feud, and the ugly past, were able to survive. Enjoyed the banter between and the crazy towns’ people. Received this book as an ARC.

Eden & Davis

Enemies to fake lovers relationship. Cute story of Eden, the Blue Moon innkeeper, and the next door neighbor, Davis, who's managing his family's winery. Their families have had a feud that has gone on for fifty years. The Beautification Committee is trying to get them together so the feud could finally be over and Blue Moon would have some peace.

What I did like about this book was that it was written in chronological order and didn't have any flashbacks to tell the story. There was a cute second epilogue that dates back fifty years so we are able to discover what really started the feud.

Lots of funny stuff. But if you want honesty from me, this is it: the book was way too silly and often ridiculously cutesy for my taste. Hard to explain, but to me it was like everyone involved in writing, editing, was over-thinking being funny. It's been a while since I read the previous Blue Moon stories. Unfortunately, I pretty much forgot who did what when, so all the interactions with the previous characters were not really that interesting ... that may be because I read so much my head is spinning! Also, for my taste, the graphic sex stuff was too repetitive and that, too, became boring and even made me cringe at times. Saving me from totally hating this book was that the two main characters did grow on me eventually. I do recall enjoying this author's previous books and I believe she can do better.

I actually don't know why I read this one!

I didn't like the previous book and I really didn't care for this one either. Reading this one made me realize that while I love some books by this author, she does have quite a few misses too.

This couple had no reason not to be a couple and it was quite headache-inducing understanding the dumb family feud. The hero took forever to finally stand up for something that I couldn't blame the heroine but not really giving him a fair chance.

It was all a mess of meddling neighbors, dumb parents, and just overall chaos. You can tell I didn't find it fun in the least.

You can probably guess I will not be continuing this series. I might die from utter boredom otherwise. I do not find the characters quirky or endearing, more annoying than anything else.

When you get to book six in a series, you think you know what to expect. Well, this book just goes to show that you should expect the unexpected when it comes to Lucy Score and Blue Moon. Don’t get me wrong, it is still very much the same Blue Moon with its Beautification Committee, hippies, and characters we have grown to love. However, this book is a bit more removed from the Piece family than the rest of the series has been, and it helped me see Blue Moon from a different angle. I fell in love all over again.

Eden and Davis are fantastic characters. I love absolutely everything about them. This book begins with a look at them in high school and the missed opportunity at a relationship that created the animosity that exists between these characters today. I loved getting a look back to see not only them, but so many of our favorite Mooners when they were younger. The beginning of their story was heartbreaking as it not only shaped their relationship, but gave so much insight on why they are the people they have grown to be today.

While both characters transform throughout this story, I felt every ounce of Eden’s transformation. After making one mistake as a heartbroken teen, she works so hard to prove to everyone that she is better than that one defining moment, but really, it seems she needs to prove it to herself. I fell hard for Eden. Total girl crush. She is hardworking, sincere, loyal, and so thoughtful. She is the kind of girl I want to be besties with. Watching her transform throughout this story in order to accept and go after what she truly wants made my heart happy.

And Davis. He is such a good guy through and through. He makes some bad choices because he is such a people pleaser, but he truly strives to be what everyone needs. Not only does he try to make everyone happy, he is also the guy who volunteers to help new families adjust to life in Blue Moon. The guy who gets caught up in romance. The guy who is willing to see through what others think to who people truly are. I loved watching him transform into the man who knows what he wants and works to make it happen. I loved that Eden brought out a confidence he didn’t even know he possessed to really become that man. When they were together, it was as if nothing else mattered. Their connection went beyond everything that happened in the past, and what others expected of them to the amazing possibilities of what could be should that spark be ignited.

And in true Blue Moon fashion, this book was hilarious. It wasn’t over-the-top crazy like Holding on to Chaos and the astrological apocalypse, but the characters are just as funny as ever! It wouldn’t be Blue Moon without shenanigans. From the family feud to an epic mistake that threatens to have half the town arrested, Blue Moon is still Blue Moon. We also get a lot of insight to the Beautification Committee in this book, and I loved it! While this book isn’t Pierce Family centered, we do check in with and get updates on all of our favorite Blue Moon characters.

This story is one you don’t want to miss. It is a story of redemption. It is a story of embracing life and what you want regardless of what others think. It is a story of second chances. It will take you from laughing to longing to a truly happily-ever-after. I have been a fan of Blue Moon from the start, but this may just be my new favorite.

In this episode of Lucy's Amazing Blue Moon World 😁.... Two kids can't be together due to their families on going feud, over 50 years in the making. Now that they are adults, they are given a second chance, due to the nosey beautification committee, but will they be able to put their history behind them and finally follow what the universe has been telling them?!
I absolutely loved these two characters, Eden and Davis. I didn't know what to expect, but was hooked the minute I found out this was a second chance/enemies to lovers kind of romance. Their angst, banter, friendship and team work had me laughing and swooning the entire story. The hilarious situations throughout the book, involving so many of the Blue Moon residents was perfect. Every time I think Lucy has written the most amazing couple/story, she comes up with an even more awesome story. This book, and all the others makes me want to live in the Blue Moon world. The only thing that bummed me out, was when the story was over, I just wanted more and more of all the craziness and sexy times this couples story displayed. 😉

There is never a day that I wouldn't prefer to be in Blue Moon. With its overabundance of quirky neighbors, insane regulations, and the machinations of the Beautification Committee, there is always something to both entertain and something to love.

Eden and Davis's book didn't disappoint. The second chance/enemies to lovers/family feud mashup had more than a few moments of hilarity, more than a few instances of smoking hot sexy times and more than a few occasions where I legitimately teared up. The feel of community, the family vibe of the Pierces and their now extended-extended family, the businesses and their owners and the thread of Blue Moon tradition that runs through this book are a welcome diversion from the minutiae of daily life.

And getting to see how the Pierces, Cardonas, Vulkovs and Merrills have continued is absolutely one of my favorite parts. It's as if they are old friends and this new installment gave me a chance to catch up on the goings-on in their lives.

Lucy Score has done it again!

Davis Gates is a go with the flow kind of guy. The obedient son, the star athlete, the successful businessman. He’s a good man, a good friend, a good citizen. But he wonders is this all there is, could he have more? Except for one fateful mistake in high school, he’s lived a charmed life. That one mistake has repercussions that he can only now, 15 years later, understand.
Eden Moody, reacting to Davis’s mistake, made a horrendous mistake of her own in high school, and has spent the remaining years struggling with her own atonement. Becoming a successful business owner, extending hospitality to those visiting Blue Moon. She wonders if there’s more to life, though?
Then the ripples from those two mistakes finally reach each other, in the form of a stink bomb because this is Blue Moon after all. Eden and Davis determine the Beautification Committee has gone too far this time with their matchmaking shenanigans and hatch their own elaborate plot.
Davis and Eden face the wrath of their feuding families and come full circle; from pretend domestic partners in high school to (pretend) love birds as adults. This is where Lucy Score shines, showcasing the undeniable chemistry between sworn enemies, making both Eden and Davis likable and sympathetic. As if this wasn’t enough, we get to spend Thanksgiving with the whole Pierce family in the greatest progressive dinner ever.
Davis and Eden touched my heart, both longing for something more in life that they didn’t even recognize until they shook off the patchouli cloud from high school. Their (fake) courtship that leads to (real) love was a delight to read about. And it’s Blue Moon, so there are plenty of side splitting moments along the way!

Another fantastic visit to Blue Moon. This book was a combination of my two favorite types of stories: second chance romance and fake relationship, with the usual Blue Moon zaniness, swoon-worthy sexy times and laugh out loud moments that Lucy Score does better than anyone.

I love catching up with the other members of our favorite community and getting to see what they’ve been up to since the last book, but the stars of this show are Davis and Eden. They have a complicated history, which is something I always love, as well as a complicated present, since their families have been feuding for the past 50 years!

They are forced to spend time together through the shenanigans of the well-meaning but often ridiculous Beautification Committee. Things don’t go as planned, of course, but we are all better off for it!

Being a big fan of origin stories (especially Lucy’s Where It All Began), I especially loved the bonus epilogue. Here’s hoping there’s plenty more Blue Moon in our future!

Eden Moody and Davis Gates bring the fake relationship, enemies to lovers and second chance romance to life!!! Eden is a successful business woman, she's smart, sexy and loves the inn she owns and operates. Davis Gates is a successful business man, he's smarty, sexy and wants to make his own mark on his families winery. A fifty year old feud and a mistake that is 15 years old make things difficult for Eden, Davis and the Beautification Committee, however Blue Moon will overcome ALL obstacles.

The Fine Art of Faking It is laugh out loud funny, silly, romantic and has a guaranteed happily ever after. This is book 6 in Lucy's Blue Moon series. Eden and Davis are AMAZING and the Beautification Committee just keeps setting up the right couples.

You need Blue Moon in your kindle and life!!!!

Blue Moon is a town I'd visit in a heartbeat! It was so fun to visit the characters we've come to know and love, and Eden and Davis were a real treat. Lucy always makes me laugh, not because her writing is over the top but because her characters are real and full of humor. We get a nice reminder of Clementine the goat and her affinity for Jax, but it's the people of Blue Moon and their quirks that made me chuckle throughout the book. The feud between these two families was outrageous and ridiculous and funny. I thought Eden held onto a high school incident a little too tightly for a little too long, but I suppose we are all guilty of making mountains out of molehills at times. Davis is fantastic, and I really loved the scenes with all the men from the previous books being together. The Pierce family Thanksgiving was a great scene, exactly what Blue Moon has come to mean to all of us. I was so thankful when Davis finally stood up to his parents and put the feud behind them once and for all. If you're new to Blue Moon, you can read this one as a standalone. But these characters are too good to miss all of the stories, so start at the beginning and read them all! I'm rating it 4.5 stars.

This book was a fantastic addition to the Blue Moon series. While most series that get past book 5 are kind of ehh in my book, this one was not. It was like returning to your favorite movie, but with a new plot and a few more details. Seriously, I loved this book.

Davis Gates was completely adorable in a clumsy, do-gooder way. Eden Moody was so relatable as she worked past her high school heartbreak and a 50+ year family feud. It was hilarious as only Blue Moon can do, but also steamy and sweet. Add in the Beautification Committee with a misplaced stink bomb turned house fire. A swiped copy of the bylaws. A contested match (who knew they could do that!?!) and then trying to fake it as revenge until they realize that maybe it isn't really faking it...

You don't have to read the other Blue Moon books to enjoy this one, but you really should. I loved the appearances and catching up with them. I truly wish I could visit Blue Moon.

Ah- a visit to Blue Moon. Just what I needed. These people are CRAZY and so very funny. I love the Beautification Committee and their attempts to match people. The town is loving and inclusive and very much up in your business. Its a big messy family.

The BC took it a little too far this time with a stink bomb lighting fire to Davis's kitchen, forcing him to move next door at the B&B owned by his high school crush turned enemy. Davis seemed so wonderful and Eden had issues to deal with, but it all worked out. I love they shared a mutual respect for business.

I laughed many times- the Town Council being forced to wear powdered wigs after the town unanimously votes in favor of them wearing them- to their horror. Managing a town of hippies is nuts, but its super cute to read and escape the real world for a bit.

Romeo and Juliet in Blue Moon Bend

17 year old Eden Moody and 18 year old Davis Gates don’t care if their families don’t get along. They have a date and they both believe it will be the start of their future and the end of the Gates/Moody feud. But that’s not how it happens.

15 years later, a disastrous event at Davis’s home finds him dependent on Eden giving him a roof over his head for a while. When they realize the small town’s secret matchmaker group has them in their sights, they decide to exact revenge by fake dating until they can stage a breakup. Fake dating feels a little too real for Davis, because his feelings for Eden are very real.

The extra bonus epilogue in the ebook is adorable and enlightening.

The Fine Art of Faking It is the best kind of romantic comedy, where you root for the characters to fall in love while nearly spitting out your drink from laughing so hard.

The Blue Moon series started with the Pierce Brothers, then expanded to the Merrill sisters, and is now continuing with other members of the community. So often, series don't have the same quality writing and plots once you get so many books in. I was so relieved to see that is not the case here, and Lucy's trademark humor, romance, and amazing story telling are all present.

Picking up right from the end of Holding Onto Chaos, Davis and Eden are so perfect for each other but they have to deal with events from when they were in high school, a 50 year family feud, and the Beautification Committee. The road to love is never easy in Blue Moon, but it's certainly worth the journey to get there.

While I love all the lead characters in the Blue Moon series, I think Davis and Eden have jumped to the top of the list!

This book can be read as a standalone, but the series is so good that I highly recommend reading the other books first!

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
