Former Navy SEAL Gage Walker has found purpose in the quiet town of Silver Springs, Texas, alongside his four closest friends. Sloane has spent years hiding in plain sight. She’s carved out a quiet life in Silver Springs, determined to stay one step ahead of the nightmare that nearly destroyed her. She never lets anyone get too close, especially not Gage, whose kindness and quiet strength threaten to break down the walls she’s so carefully built. If he ever learned the truth, it wouldn't just shatter her fragile peace. It could cost them both their lives.

Now, she has no choice but to trust Gage with the truth and with her life. As Gage and his team fight to protect the woman who’s become more important to him than he ever expected, he must also decide: is he ready to open his heart again, or will the ghosts of his past cost him a future he never saw coming?

In a town built on loyalty and second chances, can two wounded souls find the strength to let go of the past—or will the secrets between them prove fatal?

I was in the mood for a romantic suspense read because it's been a while since I've read one and this blurb sucked me right in.

Damsel in danger? ☑️
Alpha Protector Hero? ☑️
Found Family? ☑️
Who Hurt You?! ☑️

I loved Sloane, she was such a baddie. She overcame so much and never gave up hope. Her friend group was great and I loved how they all supported her and never let her forget that she fought hard for her life and there was no way they would let her give up on herself.

The romance between Gage and Sloane was slow burn for a reason and I loved the gradual built up to their relationship. They were friends first and a foundation of trust was there from the beginning. It was really a perfect pace for them given their backgrounds.

But I still have mixed feelings about this one. I loved the romance that blossomed between the MCs and they each were so supportive and understanding, it was literally perfect on that count. Both characters were really great. Kind, generous, open minded and genuinely good people but the cloud of grief that sometimes enveloped these two, especially Gage was just overwhelming at times. Beautiful message of acceptance and moving on but a bit of a Debbie Downer in a romance where you're trying to sell a swoony romance between a new couple.

Those are not deep emotional/spiritual/ philosophical questions I want to delve into when I'm trying to get lost in a romance. In the end, they both find "love" together but I honestly think we could have left Gage a loyal widower and as a bestie to Sloane and let Sloane find her one true love else where.

This is the second in a series and I would definitely recommend reading the first book as there are several side characters that make appearances and the names and call signs can get a little overwhelming to keep track of.

This book has so many raw emotions from start to finish, the fmm has had such a rough life and is still trying to help others. She does find her person and he is equally as broken. Together they fight through new challenges and make it out together on the other side.
Definitely check your tiger warnings!!! Has a lot going on.

Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this book for the suspense plot! It follows Sloane, who is haunted by an attack in her past, but has finally set up a small, quiet life in Silver Springs. While she hopes to be as unnoticeable as possible, Gage certainly notices her. Gage has also been through a huge trauma too -- he lost his wife and child six years ago. When Sloane's life is danger, she has to figure out how to rely on Gage and his retired Navy Seal team to stay safe while navigating her feelings to him.

I thought the mystery/thriller/suspense part of the book was really well done. It felt like the right balance of that and romance and was really gripping. The flashbacks were not overdone and helped explain Sloane's psyche. I did, at one point, yell "IT'S A TRAP" and even when it was, there was a twist after that was well written.

While this book dealt with a lot of really heavy, heavy themes (check the content warnings), it was well written and Gage and Sloane's responses to said trauma felt believable.

The part of the book that I struggled with was Gage and Sloane's relationship. I am not 100% sure why but I just didn't buy into their love story. I think maybe it was the pacing? Their actions felt slow but their words felt fast so there was a disconnect. I also worry that their traumas trigger each other but they both were receiving mental health services so that is at least good. Because the romance of the romantic suspense was lacking for me, I felt like the suspense did more of the heavy lifting.

Thank you Tilly H. Colson and Luna Literary for the eARC! All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in the Silver Springs series. I was able to read it as a standalone without having read book one.

Silver Secrets is romantic suspense that’s heavy on the heart. Sloane our FMC has had a traumatic past and happens to meet Gage who has had his fair share of tragedy and heartbreak. They find comfort in one another and it’s beautiful. This story will pull on your heartstrings.

Thank you to Luna Literary Management and Tilly H. Colson for this eARC copy.

Silver Secrets by Tilly H. Colson
4/5⭐
1/5🌶️

This book dives into some pretty heavy themes, but it does so with a lot of heart. The two main characters have faced tough times in their past and are on a journey to heal. Sloane is a psychologist who has endured a harrowing experience of being kidnapped and abused before finally escaping. Gage is a former Navy SEAL now working at a security company, and he carries the weight of losing his wife and son in an accident while he was deployed.

Sloane's character feels real and relatable. There were moments when I just wanted to give her a big hug to help ease her pain. Because of her trauma, she struggles with being around others and dislikes physical contact. She tends to keep to herself and rarely opens up about her past. But despite that, she’s genuinely kind-hearted and loves to volunteer and help those around her, especially her friends. Gage brings this sweet golden retriever energy to the story. From the first moment he sees Sloane, he feels a deep connection with her, but he’s also sensitive to her struggles, so he gives her the space she needs.

Their romance is a slow burn, which feels just right given Sloane's history. There aren’t too many steamy scenes, but that makes sense for their situation. Instead, the emotional bond they build is so strong, and I adored how they start as friends before moving into a romantic relationship. The moments when they open up to each other are beautiful and touching. I also loved the close-knit community vibe of the small town they live in. It’s wonderful to see how supportive and protective everyone is of one another.

The villain in this story completely took me by surprise! I was gasping when they were finally revealed, and honestly, it added a thrilling twist to the plot that I enjoyed. Overall, this is a lovely story about two broken individuals who help each other heal. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, the themes of friendship and found family were heartwarming, and there were plenty of moments that made me swoon.

Silver Secrets is the second book in the Silver Springs series and is an interconnected stand alone. It is written as a third person POV so if that isn't your vibe, just know ahead of time.

💕Small Town
💕Protective Alpha Hero MMC
💕Traumatic Past

Sloane moved to Silver Springs with a new identity and a fresh start after a very traumatic past. She has done extremely well in a sense of moving forward with her life, working as a Psychologist, and even forming lasting friendships. Due to her past she tries to stay as invisible as possible, but to Gage, an ex Navy SEAL, she isn't invisible at all.

Gage is no stranger to having a traumatic past, after losing both his infant son and wife in a car crash, he never intended to find someone to love again. But in came Sloane. She tried her best to stay hidden from eyes, but to Gage she was anything but invisible. He would do anything to protect her, and as time went on it became necessary, as things from her past came back to harm her.

Gage and Sloane were a cute couple, he took his time with her and really helped her feel wanted. After trauma from her past left her with touch aversion, she was very hesitant to let him into her world. But the closer they got, the more comfortable and safe she felt with him. Because of this it was a very intense slow burn, but it was worth it to see her growth.

Thank you Luna Literary and Tilly H. Colson for providing me with a gifted early reading copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank for the ARC opportunity Tilly H Colson and Luna Literary - I loved this story so much.

This is a beautiful story. The plot focuses on both a great love story but also has small stories everywhere as well a serial killer striking again which brings a whole load of suspense. I could have stayed just for the romance though - it is beautiful.

I love me a spicy book, the spicier the better, this is not one of those. There are very few spicy moments, but the romance, the longing is so good. There is such much emotion and trauma processing in the story that the spice is just not needed.

Tilly H Colson has created characters which I feel like I know, really know. Gage as the MMC is so good (to the extent that I messaged Tilly to tell her while I was reading). He is the ultimate golden retriever MMC. So kind, so thoughtful, high levels of emotional intelligence, no messing around. He loves Sloane, wants her to feel safe and will do everything in his power to protect her.

Sloane is beautifully written. She is hugely traumatised and this has been explored so well in the writing. Her trauma doesn’t magically go away as soon as the story starts but she is working on it and you love her for that. She keeps showing up, helping those around her even when life is really tough for her.

If you want a brilliantly written story that explores trauma and building relationships (friend and romantic) after traumatic experiences with romance and tension this would be an amazing book to read.

My heart. This book was unbelievably good! It broke my heart open and put it back together in the most magical way. It was FULL of emotion, heart, pain, healing, growth, suspense, and joy. I laughed. I cried. I mourned. I sobbed. I giggled. I kicked my feet. I clutched my heart.

Sloane is a psychologist. She is dealing with severe trauma from her past. And she works in a building beside an extremely hot former navy SEAL that she is trying to keep at a distance.

Gage is a former navy SEAL turned security expert with a nack for tech stuff. He is dealing with the loss of his world after his wife & son died a few years ago. And he is trying to bridge the distance between him and the hot psychologist next door.

They belong to the same friend group and volunteer at the same animal shelter. He calls her Red. She rolls her eyes. It is truly the most delightful thing.

I love Sloane and Gage with my whole soul. They are beautiful & complex. They make it safe for each other to be broken and imperfect AND loved, no change required. They support & protect each other. They are human, relateable & stunning.

I cannot stress this enough - have tissues close by. I went through at least half a box in Chapter 10 alone.

Prepare yourself to fall completely in love with Mel. She is so incredible and beautiful and would have been such an amazing addition to the girl group. I love that Tilly let us love her. We didn't have to choose between Mel and Sloane. We can love both. (and yes, I am crying writing this)

Tilly's writing is beyond gorgeous. My brain loved the flow, the twists and how all the side characters were included. And my heart connected deeply with the words.

The suspense was very suspense-y and the humour was truly fun.

I received this as an ARC which had no impact on my review.

Remember to check content warnings. Your mental health matters.

Highly recommend this book.

I was given the opportunity to read this ARC by @author.tilly.h.colson with the 2nd book in the Silver Springs series called "Silver Secrets". I am very thankful for the chance and in return, I was asked for an honest review and support. This book was a first book by Tilly for me and not my last for sure. Her swoon worthly writing skills with the sprinkle of spice made me really enjoy this book a lot. This releases May 23rd.

The emotion of this book is unmatched. How this entire storyline found a way to tap heart strings with kicking in exitement to covering my mouth saying what the efff. The feeling of sadness but then excitement, I almost felt bipolar because these two characters were basically found family vibes.

These two try to keep distance and fail miserably, let me tell you. They make one anothers complex and broken souls feel protected and safe by one another, and its so beautifully written. They give rreal-lifescenerio vibes that a relationship can endure and Tilly really pulled you in with details and the storyline by wrwritinghis plot and I have to give her all the praise for it.

Sloanes'backstory is not your usual emotional disaster but it is really emotional rollarcoaster. Her trauma is unmatched and cannot stress trigger warnings anymore than i do with this book.

Gage is a former navy seal with a trouble past that is now in network security with a passion for tech. His backstory of loss of his first wife and son is so traumatic, and PSTD can be felt throughout.

Prepare for Chapter 10, I can not stress that enough. The story of Gage's wife and son's death is just wow. As someone who or anyone with the feeling of emptiness with death felt the emotion Gage gave to Sloane talking through it. Tilly, you absolutely nailed this chapter even behind my tears. I think for me, knowing Mel's character and sprinkle in Mikey; we got to them both Mel and Sloane for all different reasons and that really made this story standout.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book after I finished reading Silver Linings. This has to be my favorite book of the series so far. It was phenomenal. I LOVED Sloane and Gage's story. They have both been damaged in the past and are still working through things that have happened, but they heal together in such a beautiful way. I am so glad that I got this ARC because I did not have to wait for Sloane's story after that heartbreaking ending in Silver Linings. Sloane is such an awesome character. Although, she had been kidnapped in college and seriously hurt she works so hard to pull herself out of the trenches of anxiety and PTSD. She is so intelligent and works as psychiatrist next door to Gage, she has so much strength and resilience as a main character and is such a good friend to others even with her fear and touch aversion. She is trying to avoid Gage, who is a former navy seal, turned tech security expert, who just gets her a little too much for her liking. Gage has also experienced trauma after the death of his wife and son. I am in awe of Sloane and Gage. Their souls are truly connected. They are both complex and beautiful main characters that start out as friends. They are similar in the way they don't trust a lot of people, except each other. They protect and support one another and allow each other to break down and share their feelings. Gage is truly a protector and the way he understands what she needs before she does is amazing. He is so calm and reassuring when Sloane breaks down and panics. He is kind, smart, and thoughtful. I loved when she finally starts to trust Gage and open up to him. It shows how much strength she has to keep fighting for her life. This story needs to be read- it is an emotional journey, full of heart, trauma, suspense, pain, joy, and filled with so much healing. ALL of it is done in such a beautiful way it will stick with me for a while. Gage and Sloane's journey will make you smile, make you cry, make you want to scream, make you want to cheer and root for them throughout the whole entire book and feel mostly satisfied with their ending. It might be a happy ending, but it shows that life is complex and full of heartache and healing, and as Gage says "You will [get better]. And until then, you can lean on me".
Truly a phenomenal and exceptional read and I cannot wait to continue the series.

This is the second book in an interconnected series that can be read as a standalone, but I felt I may have missed some background and character depth without having read the first installment.

Silver Secrets is written in third-person POV, I found it a little hard to fully engage, and the number of characters to keep track of was sometimes a challenge.

The story centers on former Navy SEAL Gage Walker and psychologist Sloane Donovan, both carrying significant emotional scars. The romantic suspense tackles some heavy themes, including trauma and loss, so be mindful of the trigger and content warnings. Despite the intense subject matter, the narrative offers a hopeful message of healing, second chances, and the possibility of love and support.

While the writing is heartfelt and the characters develop well, some key plot points felt rushed or glossed over. For instance, the Sloane's lack of support from the witness protection program felt unrealistic and conveniently ignored. Also, the difficult decision to cut ties with her family is mentioned only briefly and quite late in the story. The climax was also fairly predictable (I'm not mad about it though!)

The pacing felt uneven at times, and some emotional beats didn’t hit as powerfully as I had hoped. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable read and a first by Tilly H Colson.

Fans of small-town romance with protective heroes, found family dynamics, and suspenseful tension will find much to enjoy here. A bit of suspension of disbelief is necessary to get to the heart of the story, but the overall emotional pull and sense of loyalty kept me invested.

A romantic suspense with very heavy topics that had so many raw emotions from start to finish.

Sloane had a traumatic past that she ran away from and built a new life for herself, dedicated to helping others as a therapist, while Gage carries the guilt and weight of losing his wife and son in an accident while he was deployed.

This was extremely slow burn, and rightfully so, given Sloane's history, her need to keep to herself, and her dislike of physical contact. I loved how Gage's golden retriever energy and observant nature allowed him to be both sweet and sensitive while still being just the right amount of protective. I loved the pacing and development of their relationship, as their story focused more on their friendship and emotional bond/building trust before moving into a romantic relationship. The moments when they opened up to each other and showed their emotional scars were so tearjerkingly beautiful, especially since Gage is a man who's not afraid to cry.

The friend group is so much more established and stronger in this book, with so many heartwarming scenes with Sloane and the rest of the Montgomery Defense team. They were all so supportive and protective of each other—a bond between the men that was built during their time as Navy SEALs, and carried over to their respective partners.

The ending took me by surprise—I definitely did not guess who the villain was, and I'm assuming we will be seeing how Gage and Sloane's relationship progresses in the following books, once their healing is underway (semi-HEA).

I received an ARC of this book from Luna Literary Management. Even though this book is the second in the Silver Springs, I was able to read it as a standalone without a problem.

Sloane moved to Silver Springs for a fresh start and a hidden past. It is a past that makes it difficult for her to connect with people socially and physically. A past that she is more than happy to keep to herself. But when the person she feared the most resurfaces, she has no choice but to rely on her friends for help and support, even if it puts the people she loves in danger.

Gage is no stranger to heartache and a past he rather forget. Losing his wife and son in a tragic accident sent him reeling. Years later, and with the help of his friends, he calls family, and he is finally getting back to living. When Sloane walks into his life, so does the spark that his every day was missing. But Gage isn't blind to the signs of her traumatic past, even if she refuses to let him in at first. But when trouble comes to find Sloane in their small town, he knows one thing for sure, he can't lose her too even if he has to risk himself.

It is a thrilling romantic suspense with a touch of heat and spice. This book contains so hard topics and situations. Please be sure to check your triggers before reading. I simply couldn't put this one down!

Absolutely gripped, devoured it in under a day!

I can honestly say, being able to arc read this book has been a highlight of the year so far! Hands down one of the best and most unexpected romantic suspense reads I've had the privilege to delve into.

Our fmc Sloane has been touch starved and her story is one full of extreme trauma. She fights to move forward and live again, but the daily struggle for her is as real as it gets, and there are times that it consumes every aspect of her mind and body.

She has caught the eye of our mmc Gage and he catches sight of the small signs she's unable to hide, that there's something she's hiding and needs help. Getting her to allow anyone close enough to actually do that though seems an impossible task. Living with devastating loss himself means he himself has to open up his own heart in an effort to help her. He does it in the most gentle and caring of ways and he's determined to protect her from ever experiencing harm again.

When Sloane's worst nightmare seems to be coming true after so many years there's no way Gage is willing to do anything but keep her safe by his side but whether it's enough you'll have to find out for yourself! I guarantee you won't see it coming!

Going in, I hadn't read the first book in the series and it made absolutely no difference whatsoever. It is a full standalone novel that can read on it's own. Yes there are other couples mentioned, but there are no details given in their stories so it's not an issue at all.

My first read by Tilly Colson really blew me away. Silver Secrets has a beautiful romance and a thrilling, suspenseful plot. I was glued to this story.

Sloane is a fantastic heroine. My heart went out to her from the very beginning. She's recovering from a traumatic event and it was refreshing to actually see her struggle to work through her issues. She wasn't magically cured because of the hero's love. I also liked that they comforted and helped each other throughout the book. Their love story was really about their emotional bond. Their romance is a well executed slow burn that will have you swooning. Gage is a goner for Sloane and he definitely shows it with how much he respects and honors her wishes. I really fell hard for these two.

I thought Sloane's touch aversion was well represented too.

The suspense storyline was well paced and developed. I enjoyed the build-up to the reveal of the villain. Let me say, I was completely shocked by who it was!

I truly enjoyed this romantic suspense & think other lovers of the genre will too. I read this as a standalone. Would recommend!

This romantic suspense story is filled with dark subject matter, with both the FMC and the MMC struggling with different tragic events. Check the trigger warners! Despite the intensity of the events, the story ends on a hopeful note, and alludes to a future filled with love and support; a second chance at happiness. A heartbreakingly emotional story that is well written with strong character development.

However… There were a few significant plot points that were simply glazed over that I found distracting: the FMC is forced to cut ties with her parents and brother at a young age and this is only mentioned once fairly late in the book; the suspicious sidestepping of the witness protection program offering no support to the FMC as she rebuilds her life is unrealistic; the final set up by the kidnapped was obvious and predictable.

A little suspension of disbelief is required to get you to the emotional heart of the story.

Thanks to Luna Literary Management and Tilly H. Colson for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

Silver Secrets is a romantic suspense novel and is book two in The Silver Springs Series. The book follows Sloane and Gage and woah did I love it! The suspense plot kept me hooked through the entire book. The slight twist at the end was excellent and caught me off guard.

Sloane had an extremely traumatic past and her growth through the book is beautiful. She is an extremely resilient character. Her past caused her to believe that love is not in the cards for her, but Gage completely changed her perspective.

Gage is a golden retriever, but touch her and you’re done MMC. I LOVED him. His patience with Sloane growing through her trauma is utter perfection. His understanding of her trauma, intermingled with his own grief, and how he coped, was beautiful.

The found family in this book was amazing. I loved how each person understood Sloane’s boundaries and loved her through it. The way this book dealt with grief and trauma both was absolutely perfect. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Silver Secrets is the second book in the Silver Springs series by Tilly H. Colson, but I was able to read Silver Secrets as a standalone without an issue. Silver Secrets follows the story of Sloane, a psychologist with a traumatic past of her own who has moved to a new town to escape, and Gage, a veteran with some heavy trauma of his own.

I really liked the unique spin on what could have been your typical slow burn romance (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that!) by adding a mystery/intrigue into Gate and Sloane’s budding romance. Filled with yearning, touch her and die moments, and mutual trauma healing, if you like slow burns and small town romances with some intrigue, this book is for you!

I loved the beginning of the story. I love the idea of all these FBI/ex military men doing combat classes, and having a strong support system amongst themselves.

I really love the MMC his background of trauma, and how he works through it. To me this was the highlight of the story. Even his advice and support of the FMC was so beautifully graceful.

I found some elements in this story undeveloped and a bit unrealistic. This made it difficult for me to really connect with the characters, and the story in general. I found myself drifting off lots, and feeling like something was missing.

ARC READER REVIEW!
3.5⭐️

Please pay attention to any trigger warnings and realize that there are dark themes and trauma shown in this book.
This was a good well written suspense thriller with found love, and very very slow to little burn due to said trauma.
Both characters have gone through so much darkness, trauma and grief in their lives. Finding each other is like a breath of fresh air. Gage and Sloan have so much to work through, and they lean on each other to help heal.
They also have the most amazing group of friends, who all lean on each other and have each others backs no matter what.
There’s so many emotions I felt reading this, truly a rollercoaster ride, and I can’t wait to see what the other characters stories look like!

1. While it can be read alone I could see all the books are interconnected

2. The relationship between both of them is very well written. I don't know how to word it eloquently - I didn't hate the MCs but they don't necessarily fall in my top 10.

That being said I can only pinpoint one thing that bothered me - the repetitive mention of his deceased wife and son. While I don't expect him to forget them, the constant mention of especially his wife was a bit uncomfortable for me.

I do thing with everything she's been through there's a sense of security you have to feel to not be jealous of someone's past. Unfortunately I'm not that mature and can't relate.

I am looking forward to reading about Nash and the florist girl.

respectfully ouch

I had to put this book down multiple times due to how hard I was sobbing. Seriously what a beautiful (& devastating) story of growth. I won’t lie I read this series out of order and despite reading “Silver Sanctuary” first the author still managed to trick me. Well done. I discovered this series & finished in in 3 days & my only regret is knowing I need to wait for book 4. This series is “found family” to it’s core. I do wish we could’ve seen Sloane reconnecting with her family, but also thank you for sparing me from that because I know I would’ve been sobbing my heart out. I’ve never seen agony that was this beautiful before. I am so emotionally connected to both Gage & Sloane. Wow just wow.

A fantastic small town romance with a splash of thriller element and a lovely healing romance. I love the mixture of romance and suspense in this and you can absolutely read it as a standalone!! The characters went through a healing romance and both found ways to support and fall for each other and be exactly what the other needed. It's part of of a series but can be read alone but I'd definitely read the rest of the series because of how fun this book was!

Sloane and Gage’s story was just one of love and loss. This book touched on some heavy subjects around grief, lonliness and PTSD. However. I think the author wrote the emotion behind both the FMC and the MMCs story really well. Tilly definitely knows how to write a true suspense story, I was not expecting the ending!

Sloane - a woman who will teach you that you can defend yourself but it’s okay to open up sometimes. Asking for help does not make you weak.

Gage - experience loss too soon, but demonstrated that grief will only consume you if you let it!

I highly recommend these books to anyone who loves romantic suspense!

Sloane moved to Silver Springs years ago to restart her life, but what happens when old threats start to surface?

Silver Secrets is a book that will keep you guessing what comes next. From a group of growly Navy SEALS to a strong group of women, Tilly brings a story of renewal, suspense, and love. I love when romance and suspense are tied together, and Silver Secrets did not disappoint. Two MCs learning to trust and live again, a group of found family ready to burn the world for each other, and a twist you’ll never see coming.

If you’re looking for a romance that will bring you the best of two genres, Silver Secrets will be the book for you.

Sloane has been hiding in plain sight from her past. She has created an amazing life for herself and has a solid group of friends, even though they don’t know everything about her.

Gage is a former Navy SEAL who also lives in Silver Springs and runs in the same friend group as Sloane.

Sloane eventually has to tell Gage and everyone else about her past so that she can remain safe.

I loved this romantic suspense by Tilly. The secondary characters that help build the found family elements makes the story that much better!

Silver Secrets is the second book in the series and I cannot wait for the third book!

WOW! I loved the first book in this series and was intrigued by the little bit we learned about Gage to want to read his story too. The suspense in this book totally surprised me! Gage and Sloane have gone through so much prior to meeting, making them a really great match for each other. I was all about Gage wearing his glasses and Sloane calling him Clark or Superman. And Gage fostering dogs at the end of their lives so he can hold the dogs when they pass and they don’t have to die alone? Won me over instantly! Love, love, loved this one, and I’m so excited for the next book in the series to come out!
