O que há de mais belo e romântico do que uma família reunida a poucos dias do Natal? A oportunidade de se reverem, de compartilharem o calor de um lar enquanto a neve cai lá fora… Mas o velho Simeon Lee não é do tipo sentimental e, se reuniu os filhos à sua volta, é porque tem coisas para lhes anunciar, o que pode não agradar a toda a gente. Não agradar a ponto de matar?

I liked this comic. I vaguely remember the novel so I enjoyed some revision. What was surprising, Poirot didn't dominate the whole action and his presence was barely visible until the end. I'm not saying it is a bad thing. I liked the way the action was unfolded throughout the book. The ending was rather unexpected but it didn't spoil the book.

Huh, who knew there are Hercules Poirot comics? (I mean, I guess plenty of people knew, but I didn't)
That was fun. I wouldn't pick it as my first encounter with this particular mystery, but it was nice reading it when I had a so-so memory of the story. The biggest problem was that with the comic being much shorter (both counted in the number of pages and amount of text) than the original novel, there was precious little characterization of the various suspects which didn't really let the reader make his own guesses as to the nature of the mystery and the identity of the murderer. All of it lead to a feeling of the story being rushed, but I think this is just the matter of the medium. I found reading it enjoyable enough and the artwork, while not breathtaking, didn't take away from the enjoyment.
I'll definitely check out if our library has more of these.

Gostei muito desta história bastante divertida, com um Natal fora do comum.
Como sempre, não adivinhei o assassino. Agatha Christie é brilhante a escondê-los à vista de todos.

Dieses Review bezieht sich auf die deutsche Edition, erschienen unter dem Titel "Agatha Christie Classics: Hercule Poirots Weihnachten" unter der ISBN 3551804265 beim Carlsen Verlag.
Der Klassiker unter den Klassikern. Der reiche verwitwete Simeon Lee lädt zum besinnlichen Weihnachten in sein Herrenhaus ein. Er regierte über seine Familie mit tyrannischer Hand, weshalb die Stimmung ein wenig angespannt ist. Und wer wird unter mysteriösen Umständen in seinem Arbeitszimmer aufgefunden? Natürlich der Hausherr selbst, der mit aufgeschnittener Kehle auf dem Boden liegt. Wobei das Zimmer verwüstet und die von innen Türe abgeschlossen war. Und natürlich hat jeder aus der Familie ein Motiv. Nun ist es an Hercule Poirot, den Fall zu lösen.
Nun, es ist ein klassisches Szenario mit einer klassischen Auflösung bzw. Weg dorthin. Nach und nach werden die unterschiedlichen Personen vorgestellt und nach und nach werden die großen und kleinen Geheimnisse aufgedeckt, wodurch der Leser eingeladen wird, beim Rätselraten mitzumachen.
Ich finde die Adaption des bekannten Krimis aus der Feder von Agatha Christie als Graphic Novel als sehr gelungen. Es ist alles enthalten, was der Leser von einem Krimi zu erwarten hat. Und durch das Format der Graphic Novel, wird dieser Krimi auch einem jüngeren Publikum ab zirka 12 Jahren zugänglich.

Agatha Christies "Hercule Poirots Weihnachten" ist wohl der Klassiker des festlichen Cosy-Crime schlechthin und bringt in dieser Fassung als Graphic Novel ebenfalls viel Freude. Auch wer "Hercule Poirots Weihnachten" bereits in Romanform oder durch eine der vielen Verfilmungen kennt, kommt bei dieser Graphic Novel voll auf seine bzw. ihre Kosten. Die spannungsreiche und gelungen konstruierte Handlung dieses Kriminalfalls überzeugt mit ihren überraschenden Wendungen und illustren Verdächtigen auch bei erneuter Lektüre. Ebenso überzeugend ist die Umsetzung als Graphic Novel durch Isabelle Bottier und den Illustrator Callixte. Mit charaktervollen und ausdrucksstarken Zeichnungen wird die Handlung stimmungsvoll und charmant zum Leben gebracht und untermalt. Diese Graphic Novel eignet sich bestens für entspannte Stunden in der Adventszeit und zur Einstimmung auf ein (spannungsvolles) Weihnachten.

Z serią komiksową Agathy Christie mam spore problemy, o których pisałam już wielokrotnie. Adaptacje wahają się między dobrymi a beznadziejnymi z naciskiem na to drugie.
"Agatha Christie. Herkules Poirot. Morderstwo w Boże Narodzenie" nie idzie wiernie zgodnie z fabułą książki, co zresztą nie jest zarzutem, bo wiadomo są to różne media. Jednak z jakiegoś powodu autorzy idą sobie pod górkę (wycięty przydługi wstęp zastąpiony inną sceną wprowadzającą bohaterów, która de facto jest ścianą tekstu i sztucznie brzmiącym dialogiem), co sprawia, że komiks nie jest szczególnie atrakcyjny.
Ilustracje są w porządku, choć bardzo brakowało mi sceny, w którym Poirot z zazdrością przygląda się wąsom inspektora. Całość do zapomnienia.

As ilustrações estão bem executadas e bem coloridas, se bem que não consigo perceber por que se decidiu pôr uma ilustração com um rio de sangue sobre a neve para capa deste livro (depois de o lermos, ficamos a saber que a morte do patriarca da família Lee ocorre dentro da mansão e não fora dela). Questões técnicas à parte, acompanhamos facilmente a leitura, apesar da enorme galeria de personagens e das (pouco inesperadas) trocas e baldrocas na narrativa... Muita coisa fica escondida (nomeadamente a identidade de pelo menos 3 personagens da história) até ao fim, o que nos impede, obviamente, de conseguir descortinar quem é o culpado pela referida morte. Mas enfim, faz parte deste tipo de literatura, obviamente.

PT Esta foi a minha terceira incursão nas adaptações de Agatha Christie.
Por mais que me esforce para desvendar o mistério, Christie consegue sempre esconder o assassino à vista de todos. A trama é impressionantemente bem estruturada, com inúmeras pistas espalhadas — pistas que, de alguma forma, ignoramos até ao fim.
Dito isto, achei que a adaptação pecou um pouco no ritmo. A narrativa mantém-se constante, e variar entre momentos mais rápidos e mais lentos poderia ter intensificado a tensão e destacado o brilhantismo do argumento.
Ainda assim, foi uma leitura rápida e envolvente, daquelas que não consegui largar. Os fãs de Poirot não ficarão desiludidos!

No matter how hard I try to unravel the mystery, Christie always manages to hide the murderer in plain sight. The plot is impressively well-structured, with numerous clues scattered throughout — clues we somehow overlook until the end.
That said, I found the adaptation a bit lacking in pacing. The narrative maintains a constant rhythm, and shifting gears between faster and slower moments could have heightened the tension and underscored the brilliance of the script.
Nevertheless, it was a quick, gripping read that I couldn't put down. Poirot fans won't be disappointed!

Bottier e Callixte levam ao público esta versão do Natal de Poirot, sobre famílias disfuncionais, reuniões natalícias, assassinato e, claro está, ganância.
A ilustração é excepcional, virtuosa mesmo, e o ritmo do livro está bem engendrado, passando para o leitor a história de Christie com uma velocidade que nos mergulha na história como o romance o faz.
Só não dou 5 estrelas porque a figura de Poirot não é exactamente como eu imagino, e porque, a espaços, a história parece um pouco apressada.
Mas, na verdade, recomendo, porque é apenas um detalhe que em nada obsta à fruição da excelente arte pictórica em causa.

Un vrai plaisir de découvrir les romans d'Agatha Christie en version roman graphique. Je n'avais cette fois pas lu le roman d'origine j'ai donc découvert le mystère directement ici ☺️
