In this utterly gripping new thriller from bestselling author J. B. Turner, Jon Reznick has a new mission, and this time it’s personal.
When Angel Ramos, one of Jon Reznick’s oldest buddies from special forces, is found brutally slain in a Los Angeles dumpster, Reznick races to California to hunt down his killers.

Angel was a recovering junkie and his teenage daughter had vanished into the dark corners of Hollywood’s seedy underbelly. Reznick’s old friend had been desperately trying to get his little girl back when he was viciously tortured and murdered.
Determined to track down the missing teen as well as Angel’s killers, Reznick uncovers one dirty secret after another beneath the glamour and bright lights of Los Angeles. Hard Lights by J.B. Turner is the fourteenth book in the Jon Reznick thriller series. Rather than a thriller, it is more of a mystery and investigation during most of the book. Reznick gets a call from a Los Angeles police detective asking if he knows Angel Ramos. They had served in special forces together, but haven’t seen each other in years. Reznick races to Los Angeles where Ramos has brutally murdered.
Angel was a recovering addict and his teenage daughter Camila had vanished. He had cleaned up this act and was desperately trying to find her. Reznick is determined to find her and uncovers secrets, crimes, and more as he investigates. He also attracts the attention of a consortium of criminals that are vicious.
Reznick is a former military and a former covert operative who still does occasional work for the American alphabet agencies. He’s an excellent shot, highly intelligent, fearless, loyal, and tough. He’s a straight-talker, capable, resourceful, doesn’t easily share feelings, and can be a deadly killer. This story has great world-building and shows Reznick’s approach to an investigation and readers get a good feeling for his character. However, he doesn’t have his usual back-up on this personal mission to find Camila, except for his cybersecurity expert Trevelle. The police say they’re investigating Ramos’s murder, but nothing seems to be happening.
I was expecting more of a high-octane thriller like previous novels I’ve read in this series, but didn’t get it. This was more investigation with some action towards the end of the novel. While it is lacking the intensity and suspense that I expected, it is thought-provoking with a dark plot and cold-blooded criminals.
Overall, this was a compelling and atmospheric novel with well-developed characters. I am looking forward to finding out what happens in the next book.
Thomas and Mercer and J.B. Turner provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for June 10, 2025. ---------------------------------------- My 3.47 rounded to 3 stars review is coming soon.
In this utterly gripping new thriller from bestselling author J. B. Turner.
An author that never let's me down, another brilliant story, and getting stronger with book number 14 in the series.
Jon Reznick has a new mission, and this time it’s personal. One of my top favourite characters, calm, gritty, with a good humour, powerful and strong character.
When Angel Ramos, one of Jon Reznick’s oldest buddies from special forces, is found brutally slain in a Los Angeles dumpster, Reznick races to California to hunt down his killers.
Angel always had Reznick’s back when they were on missions together, but recently his demons had caught up with him.
But when his fearless methods attract the attention of a ruthless Mexican cartel, Reznick is on borrowed time. Reznick will need to employ all his black-ops training to save Angel’s daughter, avenge his friend—and get out of Hollywood alive…
Yes again another Five stars. Keep Going Jon Reznick
Another action packed audiobook one that I could envisage as if I was watching an episode of Reacher on tv. This was well narrated and touched on various aspects of a personal journey of the character.
When Reznick has to identify a former colleague Angel who unfortunately had turned to drugs after serving with him and being unable to ward off all the battle scars from the past he has been in LA searching for his daughter who had unfortunately taken a similar route. Reznick then decides he can’t leave LA without finding Angels daughter and getting her to some form of safety. Of course this entails various twists and turns that involve some graphic detail of violence whilst he is in the midst of his journey. He receives assistance from many others along the way.
A first for me from this author but I’d not rule out reading more. With thanks to Netalley & Brilliance Publishing for this ELC on return for an honest review. Best wishes for publication to all on 10th a June 📚🙏🏽❤️
Hard Lights is the 14th book in an action thriller series about maverick former Special Forces operative Jon Reznick. I’ve read them all in order, but you don’t have to, as most of the books work fine as standalones, and you get all necessary recap about Reznick’s past and his various contacts. This was another easy fast paced read with no great surprises and a satisfying resolution, which is exactly what you want and expect from this kind of book.
When Reznick hears that his former friend from Delta Angel Ramos has been found murdered in LA, he leaves his Maine home to investigate. Angel had fallen on hard times but had been trying to get clean to save his teenage daughter from a life of drugs and exploitation, but powerful people in Hollywood and violent gangsters will stop at nothing to protect their secrets. Can Jon save the girl, avenge his friend and stop the bad guys?
There are quite a few series about Jack Reacher-type loners saving the day and sometimes the world from an implausibly large number of threats, and this is one of the better ones. While Reznick is pretty dour without much personality, and no sense of humour, I’ve kept reading them because I like the varied situations he finds himself in - they’re not as formulaic as the Reacher books. There’s violence and mentions of torture, lots of bad language and a hero who literally gets away with murder, so they’re not for everyone, but recommended if you like this genre. I got all the previous ones as Advance Review Copies, but this came to me courtesy of Kindle Unlimited. I started it as an audiobook then switched to the ebook - nothing against the narration which was great, I just haven’t had many opportunities to listen lately and wanted to finish it.
I enjoyed this hard hitting action thriller. It kind of reminded me of Lee Child's Jack Reacher series, with the good guy cleaning up the city of Los Angles one bad guy at a time. The story isn't really graphic but some of the death are brutal and make me glad not to be part of that world, listening to the story from the comfort of my chair is good enough for me. I would say I like the characters but it's mostly Reznick on his own, the innocents don't always make it and you have got to hate the bad guys. The story moves at a fast pace with a number of bodies left in its wake but it is not all action because it is also backed up with a good story line of friendship, hardship and the seeder side of life from the rich and entitled. I would definitely listen too another Jon Reznick book.
Jon Reznick receives a phone call, with no known next of kin he is asked to identify a former Delta brother. Wanting to know what happened to his former friend Reznick travels to Los Angles to find out what he can. Once there he is devastated to learn his friend was homeless and tortured before being brutally murdered. The police are stonewalling him, the FBI warning him to return home but Reznick can't return with out finding answers, especially when he learns his friend had cleaned himself up and was looking for his missing daughter. Reznick wasn't there when his friend needed him but maybe he could be there for his daughter. I liked the narrator. I have heard him a number of times and think he always puts in an entertaining performances. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Hard Lights by J.B. Turner is a razor-sharp, high-octane thriller that had me hooked from the opening chapter and didn’t let go. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook ARC via NetGalley, and it was an absolutely riveting experience.
The standout for me was the flawless narration by Jeffrey Kafer. His delivery was pitch-perfect, capturing the tension, urgency, and emotional depth of the story with masterful precision. The interchange between characters felt authentic and dynamic—never overdone, always engaging.
Jon Reznick is a compelling protagonist—hardened, complex, but refreshingly grounded. While he’s clearly burdened by the weight of his past, he doesn’t fall into the trap of being too broken or overly tortured like so many male leads in the genre. His moral compass, loyalty, and quiet resilience made him someone I wanted to follow through every twist and turn.
The plot kicks off when Jon is contacted about the brutal murder of an old comrade, and from there the tension builds relentlessly. I found myself completely immersed—thanks to both the tight pacing of Turner’s storytelling and the narrator’s skill in bringing it vividly to life. I genuinely raced through this audiobook and was sorry when it ended.
This was my first J.B. Turner audiobook, but it certainly won’t be my last. If you’re a fan of intelligent thrillers with a strong central character and top-tier narration, Hard Lights should be at the top of your list.
Well lemme tell ya what I thank bout Hard Lights by J.B. Turner
Now I aint no fancy book learnin kinda feller but I know a good story when it jumps up an smacks me in the face like a drunk uncle at a fish fry
That feller Jon Reznick he aint playin round no sir buddy
Soon as his ol war buddy Angel done turned up dead in some godforsaken dumpster out yonder in Los Angeles I knowed it was fixin to get wild
Angel been a mess lately fightin them drug demons like a raccoon in a trash can but he still tryin to get his baby girl back from them no good Hollywood slimeballs
Now Reznick he aint the kinda man to sit back eatin Fritos and cryin in his truck
He packs up heads west like a bat outta Hades and starts knockin on doors kickin in others and causin more ruckus than a possum in a henhouse
He finds out quick this aint just no gang mess nah this goes deep real deep
Dirty cops sleazy producers and a dang Mexican cartel that dont take kindly to nosey folks
But Reznick He dont care one lick
He’s got that special forces blood in him
He snaps necks like twigs and don’t say please
By the time the smoke clears you feel like you been in a bar fight with a lawn mower
Aint no love story no poetry no tea sippin
Just grit blood bullets and one man’s promise to an old friend
Weren’t nothin but pure raw edge of yer seat butt kickin justice
Hard Lights follows a gritty, fast-paced storyline centered around covert operations, danger, and suspense. The premise is intriguing and has the potential to draw in fans of action-packed thrillers.
While the plot itself was okay and had potential, I struggled to stay engaged with the audiobook version. I believe this story might be better experienced in print or ebook format, where the reader can better follow the pacing and character dynamics without being distracted by the narration.
I also want to acknowledge that Hard Lights is the 14th book in the series, and I haven’t read the previous installments. That may have impacted my experience, as I didn’t have an established connection with the main character or context for their background. Readers who are already familiar with the series may find it more engaging than I did. This just wasn't for me, but I think I will go and find the first books in the series and give the series another try.
The narration unfortunately detracted from the experience for me. It felt monotone throughout, and I had a hard time distinguishing between characters—particularly between male and female voices, which all sounded quite similar. This made it difficult to stay immersed in the story and often made me want to stop listening altogether. I think having a second narrator to voice the female characters could have made a significant difference.
Narrated by Jeffrey Kafer, the performance lacked variation and didn’t provide enough vocal distinction between characters, which made the audiobook challenging to follow. The lack of tonal contrast made it difficult to stay engaged with the storyline.
Thank you to NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
A little different mission for Jon, one that is a lot more personal. Some might ask if he is feeling ok as there is less destruction in his wake. We learn from the summary that a former Delta team member is horrifically murdered. Jon of course will not rest until he gets to the bottom of what happened with a little help from his friends old and new. I do mean little help in this case, as Jon is more af a lone wolf than in past stories. Does it detract from the story? No, just an observation.
We are treated to a softer dare I say version of Jon as he goes through and learns more about the friend he lost touch with and what he may have gotten himself into that got him killed. We see glimpses of the kind of father Jon is and may have been as his daughter grew up.
I started by saying that there is less destruction in this one but that doesn’t mean Jon is any less a force a to be reckoned with. I wasn’t sure where things were going and was happy to go along for the ride.
Maybe it’s wishful thinking you know my part but it seems like the groundwork was being made for a daddy-daughter mission. (*hint*) I am looking forward to Jon’s next mission either way.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #ThomasAndMercer for the opportunity to do an early read and share my thoughts on the story.
Angel Ramos was an unruly drunk who wound up dead in Venice, Calif. In a large trash bin off the beach. He didn't have many friends. But he served in the military with Jon Reznick, who said there was none finer on the battlefield. Ramos made an impression. In J.B. Turner's "Hard Lights," the 14th in his series about the ex Delta warrior who moonlights with various federal agencies, Reznick heads from his peaceful home in Maine to Los Angeles after he gets the call that his friend has been found murdered. Reznick feels a responsibility to Ramos and guilty that he had been out of touch for about a decade. Once in LA, Reznick discovers his friend had been brutally tortured. But law enforcement in the City of Angels doesn't give him much information. They tell him to butt out, go home. Reznick isn't wired that way. He starts poking around, asking questions on the street. What he learns takes him to dark places. Turner must have been inspired with this novel. It was so intense, I had to keep reading it, getting lost during my various breaks. I believe Hard Lights dropped just after my open heart surgery, and I was kind of afraid to read it. I had all the intensity I needed after my date with the bone saw. Then again, I read two Stephen King novels. Then a romance. I think I timed it OK.
Jon Reznick and Angel Ramos had both been in Delta Force. Angel was a guy he looked up to. He hadn't seen him in many years and even back then Angel drank a lot.
Angel had got a job in Hollywood working VIP security. He was doing OK until he was shot in the head. After that he started using drugs and none wanted him to work for them anymore.
His former girlfriend told Jon that Angel lost everything and became homeless.
Jon had got a call from the police after Angel had been found dead. The ME asked Jon about Angel's tattoos. He also told Jon that Angel hadn't just died, he had been tortured and murdered in the worst way!
Jon flies to LA to find out who had murdered his friend! He soon found out that Angel's daughter had tried to help her dad! Camila Ramos calls her self Gigi. She is 16 and wants to be an actress.
Gigi had started working as an escort and had also started using drugs. Before Angel had been killed he had got sober and was trying to find his daughter.
Jon upsets a lot of people when he starts looking for Gigi! The police tell him to go back home. The FBI warn him that people are going to kill him too!
I found the books by JB Turner when I first got Kindle unlimited. I like this series! You can both read and listen to the books. This was book #14 and a lot have happened since book #1!
4* Decent intro to the series and lead, but for all his skills, surely that the bad guys could potentially get to his daughter should've been on his mind?
Whilst the character isn't unique as he's depicted, the tale is decent and the writing is, too. There's not much I learned about him, other than he's ex-military, loyal, not easily scared, thinks ahead and not essily intimidated. I'd want this guy in my life if ever something similar happened to me. Not having read previous tales wasn't a detriment, as there doesn't seem to be continuity, arcs or cliff hangers from prevous books. Jon Reznik is more believable than 007 and Ethan Hunt, making the tale more raw, gritty and believable despite it's 'only on TV' slight feel.
The only criticism is that his daughter's in a public/ish CIA (I think) role, that the bad guys could easily enough access, especially with the research that they'd gotten hold of. That Jon didn't see her as a potential target, especially seeing that his dead comrade's daughter was the target in this tale, didn't gel.
It's good enough, however, that it's made me pick up some of the back catalogue and order future books.
ARC courtesy of NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer, for my reading pleasure.
Hard Lights by J. B. Turner is the 14th book in the Jon Reznick thriller series and the first book I have read within this series, Where have I been? I really enjoyed it and found it quite easy to get the grips of what had happened in the previous books. It was full of twists and turns throughout, it was fast paced.
I loved the main character Jon Reznick. I found him very strong character and he was determined to track down the missing teen as well as Angel’s killers, Jon Reznick then uncovers one dirty secret after another beneath about the glamour and bright lights of Los Angeles. Jon is fearless and his methods attract the attention of a ruthless Mexican cartel, Jonis now on borrowed time and he will need to employ all his black-ops training to save Angel’s daughter, and avenge his friend. . . . Plus, to get out of Hollywood alive. . . . But, does he do it?
WoW this book was so good. . . . . Shame it was the 14th book within this series I found Jon Reznick!!! But, I will be Stalking him in the future. . . . .I need more of him! I'd better find time to read the other 13 books within this great series.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for My ARC.
While on vacation, Reznick is contacted by the LAPD with the news that an old comrade has been murdered. The circumstances make it quite clear that this was no random street crime, even though the comrade has been living rough.
When Reznick arrives, he is (typically) shown little or no courtesy by the investigating officers, who are (typically) not spending any noticeable effort on the torture murder of a street person.
Unsurprisingly, there are many things going on, and much evil is hidden in the parlors of the wealthy of Los Angeles.
All of which sounds like the recipe for a deeply mediocre thriller.
This is better than that. There are several new interesting characters, the old characters are back to something more like their original personalities and skillsets, and the plot makes more sense than the last couple of books. And the book has a satisfying (if unreasonable) ending.
This is definitely popcorn suspense, of the egregious power fantasy style. But it's done well. There's not much point in saying more for book 14 of a series, but for whatever it's worth, this is recommended.
I received an ARC through "NetGalley" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Reznick receiving a call from the L.A. police asking if he knew Angel Ramos. He asked whether he needed to go to L.A. He was told that the identification could be done via Zoo0m. After providing the medical examiner with items such as tattoos, confirmation was made that it was Angel. After getting off the phone, Reznick made arrangements to get to L.A. Once arriving, Reznick began looking into who was responsible for killing Ange. Once Reznick started and he started learning things, he was essentially told to leave town and let the police do their job. He also learned that Angel had a daughter, so Reznick began his search to find her. Reznick seemed to ruffle feathers and he became targeted because some people wanted what happen hidden.
To learn who wanted Reznick hurt, what items and who wanted them to stay hidden and what happened in the end, then you need to read this book.
This is another great story in the series so don't miss out!
Hard Lights is the 14th book in the Jon Reznick Thriller series by J. B. Turner. I have not read all the previous books yet, and I was still able to enjoy this as a standalone thriller.
This book was fast paced and fascinating. I was captivated by how things were connected and how they were revealed. I’ve enjoyed learning more about Jon Reznick and look forward to reading the other books in the series.
I really enjoyed the narration by Jeffrey Kafer. I thought he did a great job bringing the story to life.
I recommend reading Hard Lights. It’s a quick read that you won’t be able to put down!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hard Lights (A Jon Reznick Thriller, Book 14) by J. B. Turner Narrated by Jeffrey Kafer Publisher: Brilliance Publishing | Brilliance Audio Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers Expected Publication Date: June 10, 2025
Hard Lights and deadly fights await the reader in Book 14
Another very entertaining head-knocking, butt-kicking, bullet-dodging adventure with the almost Superman of truth, justice, and the American way, Jon Reznick. Book 14 of the Jon Reznick Thriller series by author J.B. Turner is everything you love about the series. If you are a newbie, just remember, Jon can not fly! OK, enough about Reznick. In Book 14, "Hard Lights," Jon uncovers a sinister group of wealthy individuals that have let their money and wicked desires exceed all boundaries of decency. Sex, drugs, and cold, bloodied killings go hand in hand in their world.. The brutal death of a former Delta Force buddy and his missing daughter set the stage for an all-out war with these sleaze bags. You do not want to miss reading 'Hard Lights' by J.B. Turner. There is an excellent audible book performed by the very familiar voice of Jeffrey Kafer that I highly recommend. -Mr.Bill
When John Reznic hears that special Services buddy Angel Ramos has been brutally murdered in Los Angeles, Reznic immediately takes a plane to Los Angeles. He goes to the police and finds out that Ramos had cleaned up his life and that he had a daughter that he'd just learned about. The police don't want him bothering him, and won't tell him who they think killed him, so Reznic has to do his own detecting. Fortunately, he has his good friend in Florida who can break into data banks and see people's cell phone data. Reznic decides he has to find the daughter and help her after he hears she is selling her body. There are a lot of very wealthy and very ugly people in LA, but Reznic finally takes care of Ramos' killers. He then sets out to find Ramos' daughter. In spite of having a lot of folks following him and trying to kill him, Reznic finally finds the daughter and takes her to a priest he has met who gets her in the right place to get clean.
This latest installment felt a bit different from the previous Jon Reznik thrillers, but was one I enjoyed perhaps because it was a slight departure from the norm. The story takes Jon from his retreat in Maine to Venice Beach, CA when he gets a call to notify him that one of his former Delta Force buddies has been murdered. He flies across the country to bury his friend and to look into what happened and, unhappy with the course of the investigation, he takes matters into his own hands. He gets stonewalled by the local police and bumps up against an intricate and layered conspiracy from Mexican cartels, a money laundering art expert, and a legendary Hollywood producer that threatens him and the people around him. There are plenty of dangerous action sequences but Hard Lights also leans into more investigative-type police work, which I found to be an interesting twist.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This Jon Reznick book was slightly different from the others but just as good. Instead of dashing around the world troubleshooting in this book Jon stays in the USA. When he gets world that a former Delta colleague Ángel Ramos has been brutally murdered in Los Angles by the Mexican Mafia cartel whose cruelty knows no bounds. He flys there to investigate. While snooping around trying to find out what happened he gets involved in a Hollywood paedophile ring while trying to find his murdered friend’s daughter. Jon catches up with all involved and brings them to justice. He rescues his friend’s daughter from her life of drugs and debauchery . Not as action packed as other books in the series but still a good book to read.
Hard Lights is an action-packed thriller that dives headfirst into the dark and dangerous streets of L.A. Jon Reznick is a compelling lead, and the personal stakes in this one—avenging an old friend and saving a missing teen—had me hooked. The plot is gritty, fast-paced, and full of suspenseful moments that kept me on edge.
I listened to the audiobook version and, while the story itself pulled me in, the narration style just didn’t quite click with me. It wasn’t bad—just not to my taste.
Overall, a gripping, high-stakes read with strong pacing and a hard-hitting storyline. Fans of black-ops thrillers and morally driven protagonists will definitely enjoy this one.
Dark, violent, and full of tension, this book delivers on the action front with a lead who’s as lethal as he is haunted. Hard Light throws you into the chaos fast, and while the plot isn’t exactly groundbreaking, it’s definitely engaging. The pacing moves well, but some of the character depth gets sacrificed for body count. Still, if you’re into raw, punchy thrillers with a shadowy edge, it’s a solid ride. Just don’t expect much softness — this one stays hard-boiled from start to finish.
Can be read as a stand alone
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 stars Rated R for strong language, graphic violence, and dark subject matter.
Fast-paced, gritty, and action-packed—Hard Lights delivers exactly what you'd expect from a Jon Reznick thriller. J.B. Turner plunges readers into the dark side of L.A. as Reznick seeks justice for an old friend and races to rescue a missing teen. With high stakes, ruthless enemies, and nonstop tension, this is a gripping read that fans of the series (and of hard-hitting thrillers in general) will absolutely devour. Reznick is relentless as ever!
Thank you J. B. Turner, Brilliance Publishing, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!
Another great Reznick thriller. It was very fast paced. I had a hard time putting it down which is exactly what you want. The action wasn't over the top and plot was well put together. I like how Turner twisted Hollywood pedophiles, corruption, cartels, terrorists, police/Feds and homeless all together to create, unfortunately, a believable story– a la Epstein, Weinstein, Dems (Biden/Hillary) and Comey. For a Fiction story, it showed a realistic portrayal and sad truth of how money can buy just about anything no matter how decrepit. Keep Reznick coming!
Jon is back and this time upon finding out his old friend from the forces Angel Ramos has been killed, he is determined to find those responsible. Angel didn't have it easy and his own demons to fight with drug issues as well as losing his relationship with his daughter. When Jon starts to look into it, he realises that he is just uncovering one new problem after another. Of course in true Reznick style the fact that he may have to deal with the Mexican Cartel doesn't faze him and he steams ahead with retribution. This book was as per the usual style fast paced, full of action and a definite page turner. Once again a cracking read and make me look forward to the next book in the series
Jon Reznick is asked to identify a body from tattoos and distinguishing marks. He realises this corpse was his friend so he travels to Los Angeles to find out how he died and why. The more questions he asks the more he is putting himself in danger.
Very well written and well narrated novel (I listened to the audiobook). Great characters in this well paced, action packed novel. LA looks like a great place to live with opportunities but only if you have money. There is lots going on behind the scenes but many suffer at the hands of others. A very good read, enjoy.
I really enjoyed this fast paced action thriller. This is the 14th book in the Jon Reznick series but I read it as a standalone book. Jon is hunting down those responsible for brutally killing his friend Angel and searching for Angel’s daughter who has gotten wrapped up in the seedy side of LA life.
Jon Reznick is an excellent character and I plan to go back and read the others in this series by J. B. Turner. Jeffrey Kafer did an excellent job with the narration.
Thank you to NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for letting me read this ARC.
3.25 stars. Jon is asked to identify a body. By the tattoos and distinguishing marks, he realizes the body is his friend. He travels to LA to investigate how he died. The more he investigates, the more danger. Lots of action. The plot was well structured. The pace was decent. I think the characters were developed enough, I just couldn't connect with him. I typically like these books, but just didn't connect as well with this one. It is a quick read for your TBR this summer! Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC. Happy Reading.
This book wasn’t as good as some of his others. It dragged in the Jon kept hanging around L.A. doing little except getting pulled in first by the cops then the Feds. Action finally starts after three thugs attempt to jump him. Then Turner has Jon getting arrested in a parking garage at who knows what hour by cops that just happened to be there, come on now! BS. Once he finds the girl why not take her totally out of the environment instead of Venice Beach? Now it moves along nicely and tries to recover. 4.5
I love Jon and look forward to his books! He has such a sense of morality and what is acceptable and just for the underdogs out there. This story is based on the injustice of what his Delta buddy went through before he was killed. The murder had been swept under the rug because for a time his friend was an alcoholic and an addict. The time of his death he had been sober and clean performance and was in search of his daughter who was only 16. She had gotten caught up in trying to make it in Hollywood. I director who is old enough to be her father took advantage of her and many other minors for his own perverted pleasures. Reznick persistence and determination help solve his friends murder and save his daughter's life.. Lots of action, don't miss it
