Annabella has always been in love with her sister’s fiancé, Zac, her best friend, and the man she hoped might one day look her way. But after Zac's engagement to her sister, she realizes her dream is shattered. Annabella never thought her sister could be cruel, but when she discovers her family has been plotting behind her back, arranging for her to marry the cold and powerful Kace Connor, she knows they want to get rid of her.
Kace survived a horrific accident two years ago, almost dying but making a full recovery. The experience made him see life differently, revealing the many fake people around him. Determined to turn his life around, he pursues Annabella—a woman not his type at all—hoping she might prove him wrong about women desiring only money and help him feel again. To test her, he pretends he is still disabled from the accident. When Kace’s grandfather arrives, intending to take Kace to Russia to marry a woman of his choice, Kace uses Annabella to fend him off. But Ivan is not a man to be easily refused.
Can Kace and Annabella make a marriage work that was built on deception, or will it tear them apart?
This book contains mature scenes and is therefore rated 18+ My Husband's Deception is a standalone book and can be enjoyed right away.
My toxic trait (it's not a guilty pleasure at this point) is to read nonsensical romance with soap-opera vibes!
I really should rein myself in. But how could I resist a 24 year old naive virgin FMC agreeing to wed a handicapped reclusive billionaire just so she can get away from her childish crush on her sister's fiancé (who attempts to gang rape her at some point in the book) only to be tested by that billionaire mega rude (read: honest to a fault) hero who's not really handicapped but wants a woman who doesn't love him for his legs... I mean money of course ;)
DNF Maybe I’ll come back to this and try again. I’m interested in the story but just in the first few chapters I’m already annoyed. Any conversation between two characters is filled with the FMC repeating what the other person just said in question form. It makes her come off as really stupid, like nothing is computing and she constantly needs further explanation.
“Jennifer, can I… help you?” I asked, feeling rather perplexed. “Actually, I'm helping you,” she told me. “Me?” I echoed. “You.” “With?” I asked. “Your love life,” she clarified. “My… love life?”
——-
“I talked to Dad. It’s all set up.” “What is?” I inquired. “Your marriage,” she revealed. “My marriage?
——-
“But don’t worry, we are going to fix that,” she informed me. “Fix it?” I asked
——-
“You married!” she exclaimed. “Me married?” I asked,
——-
Take my advice and sign the papers.” “Papers?” I whispered.
——-
“Was that so hard to say?” I asked, breaking the brief silence that had stretched out as I tried to overcome the shock of the news she gave me. “Hard?” she echoed.
——-
“If you want one, we can redo it,” I cut in. “Redo it?”
——-
“Do you want us to divorce already?” I inquired. “No!” she exclaimed. “We can.” “We can?” she asked,
——-
“No, thank you,” she replied. “No?” I pressed. “No, I owe it to our marriage to try, right?” she asked. “That’s all up to you,” I replied. “You don’t want to try.” “No, I'm all in,” I admitted. “All in?” she inquired.
——-
The first conversation between the FMC and the MMC is confusing and drawn out. She mentions they can get a divorce and he’s like “do you want a divorce?” and she emphatically states she does not. Well then why are you bringing it up? It’s like the conversations have too much filler instead of just getting to the point with her constantly questioning everything. I don’t enjoy reading meaningless banter.
I don’t know guys, as I was copying the above quotes I got annoyed again so I think I’m just done with this one. If I’m already gritting my teeth by the 4th chapter I probably should just give up.
I’m not going to assign a star rating since I barely even started reading but if I had to rate by the little that I read, it would be a big fat zero.

This book follows Annabelle and Kace, two characters from wealthy backgrounds whose lives collide through an arranged marriage that neither of them truly chose. Annabelle comes from a rich but deeply toxic family who have spent her whole life making her feel unwanted and inferior, especially compared to her perfect, adored sister.
Right at the start of the story, Annabelle is forced to sit through a family dinner where she learns her sister is marrying Zac — the boy Annabelle once had a huge crush on, someone she shared a little childhood kiss with and always thought she’d end up with. The news devastates her, and her sister uses it to further humiliate her, as she always does.
As if that isn’t enough, Annabelle’s family then announces that she has been arranged to marry Kace — a billionaire with a former playboy reputation, known for dating shallow, money-hungry women. Annabelle is shocked that someone like him would want her, but the marriage offers her the only escape she’s ever had from her cruel family. So she agrees.
Unbeknownst to her, Kace has recently recovered from a motorcycle accident — but chooses to hide it and pretend he’s still unable to walk. His reason? He wants to see if Annabelle cares about him, not his money. Only his best friends know the truth. This setup could have annoyed me in another book, but somehow it worked here.
From their very first meeting, Annabelle and Kace click. She’s feisty, honest, and refreshingly unlike anyone he’s ever dated. He even admits she isn’t his usual “type” looks-wise, but he never insults her — instead, he finds her personality magnetic. Their banter is great, their chemistry develops naturally, and Annabelle’s inexperience (she’s 24 and has only ever had one kiss) adds a sweetness to their growing connection.
It’s also deeply sad how misunderstood she is. There’s a rumour that she stalked Zac, which embarrasses her constantly, but Kace quickly realises the truth: Annabelle wasn’t obsessed — her family and Zac are simply awful people who took advantage of her vulnerability. As their relationship deepens, he starts to see just how damaging her upbringing has been.
The tension ramps up when Kace’s unpleasant grandfather visits — the one who had originally wanted him to marry a Russian woman. Instead of the chaos Kace expects, the grandfather ends up revealing the truth about Kace’s recovery to Annabelle. Feeling betrayed, she leaves and returns to her parents’ home… but this time she stands up to them with a newfound confidence.
The climax is surprisingly dark: Zac attempts to assault Annabelle with a couple of other men, confirming exactly what kind of person he really is. Kace arrives just in time, saves her, and the two finally reconcile.
The epilogue jumps ahead to a sweet moment where Annabelle is pregnant, while her sister’s marriage is already falling apart — no surprise considering who Zac is.
Overall, I knew exactly where this story was going, and it’s not typically the kind of book I gravitate toward. But it was incredibly quick to read, engaging from start to finish, and I actually really liked Kace. I don’t have many complaints — it was simply an enjoyable, satisfying romance.

This was a slow burn romance with a lot of drama and some toxic and interfering family members. I liked how Anna and Kace balanced each other, and grew together during their unconventional relationship. The story focussed a lot on trust and confidence, and it was great to see Anna stand up for herself especially against her family. Kace pretends to be disabled after his accident to test his new wife, and she exceeds his expectations by being genuinely caring and compassionate, but it's only a matter of time before she learns the secrets he's been keeping. This is a romance standalone with a dose of spice, family drama, learning to love, and finding yourself.
❤️ Arranged marriage ❤️ Secrets ❤️ Interfering family ❤️ Second Chance ❤️ Romance standalone
I am the survivor of three generations of perfectionists, and that’s how I was raised too. So, even though it’s not quite the same experience as Annabella’s, I understood, perhaps too well, all her family issues and crises of self-confidence. And even though I could see where Kace was coming from, having been surrounded by opportunists for so long, there were definitely moments where I did not like him at all. However, I enjoyed watching this pair get to know one another, so much. It hurt my heart to see everything they had to go through first, but I adored where their relationship got to in the end. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
This book was fantastic!!! Ate it up in a day (which is very rare for me). Annabella has been in love with her sister’s boyfriend (which is also her best friend) for years. Her parents have arranged for her to be married to a man she doesn’t know. Kace needs to marry an American woman so he doesn’t can’t marry him off to a Russian woman and move back to that country. I absolutely loved this book so much. The secrets and insecurities that the couple go through, and when they start falling for each other (and the other not knowing), my goodness so good.
This was a quick read. I enjoyed the plot and it easily kept my interest. There was drama, humor, some feels, angst, and steam. I liked the banter between Annabella and Kace. It felt like their relationship developed naturally. I loved the spice. It was good to see Annabelle's growth and her gain confidence throughout. Overall, I think this was a great read and I was happy with the ending.
Wow !!! I loved this book and read it in one setting. Anne T Thyssen never fails to write amazing 📚 books, but this book was so special that l couldn't put it down. Annabella or Anna fmc was such a beautiful character. I loved watching her find her strength throughout this book. Kace, mmc wow, he was everything a girl could wish for. I loved watching him lowering his walls for his Anna. Anna had been treated disgustingly by her whole family her sister was a real bitch. It was lovely reading kace and Anna falling in love and how strong their marriage turned out. There are a few characters l hated in this book, but l don't want to give anything away or spoil it for anyone . Please read this book. Honestly, it's brilliant . This is my honest arc review xx

My Husband's Deception de Anne T. Thyssen
Argumento:
This rather sweet romance follows the story of two people trying to find escape from different situations, forced to choose a marriage to a stranger as the best way out. Annabella has been living in a bubble of naivety that was shattered when she realized how much her own family is belittling and humiliating her, being cruel enough to get rid of her by marrying her off to a crippled man. Kace has been left cold and cruel after an accident that showed him the true colors of his supposed friends, and now his grandfather is trying to force him into a loveless marriage with a woman he has no interest in. Desperate enough, Annabella and Kace get married, and after initial bumps, they even try to make it work - but there is still one secret, one deception on Kace's side that might destroy the fragile relationship being slowly built up. I enjoyed the easy flow of the story, the chemistry between the characters, and the way they actually put the effort into the marriage that came out of necessity. The story is written so that the reader easily understands the motives and reasons of both protagonists, while not necessarily agreeing with everything, but showing a clear perspective how they are thinking - and it is only natural there will be disagreements. I really enjoyed the growing feelings, how Kace and Annabella joined forces and stood up against their own ghosts. I have to say, especially Anna was put through some horrifying experience, which made me even more attached to the story, and the only slight shortcomings for me were how easy Anna's family got out of the whole situation, and I had actually bigger expectations on Kace's grandfather, being painted as a cruel man that does not stop at anything.. in the end, he was just all words and one attempt on doing something bad. All in all though a really nice and easy story.
So much potential, author needs to update and edit this story!
I’m not one to typically post a book review. I either like a book or I don’t and I move to the next one on my list. But this story had so much potential and fell so short for me. I’m still ruminating over it after I’ve finished it so I’m hoping the author takes some of my feedback and incorporates it into an updated edit. I wouldn’t mind if the story was longer if it gave us closure.
The biggest letdown with this story if that there isn’t enough backstory and follow through for plot development. Why was the MFC’s BF her BF? We see no evidence of that childhood relationship. Why would the MFC “love” him without providing us with any evidence of their interactions. Why did the BF give the MFC a gold “BF” ring in their teens but marry her sister and try to rape and encourage a gang rape? And then the sister still marries the guy.
Why does her family treat her the way they do? There’s nothing to support their actions and reactions.
The MMC seems to also have so much more to his story that isn’t developed. Is his grandfather part of the Russian Bratva? Were his parents killed in a car accident a true accident or a hit? Was the MMC’s motorcycle accident a true accident? Why does the grandfather leave back to Russia with a threat but we don’t get to see how that manifests?
I would have liked to see more facets to both MCs with their obvious intelligence and professional success. They aren’t fully developed and fall flat.
If this story is edited and fulfills the questions above with earnestly, I would give it another chance because the author has whetted my curiosity.
Anna had been in love with Zac her best friend all her life and now he was engaged to her sister Jennifer. Her Sister said she was going to help her get her own love life. Anna’s parents along with her sister arranged for her to marry. In shock Anna asked who had they found to marry her. Jennifer said Kace Connor, the multi-millionaire who had inherited his wealth after his parents had died in a plane crash which he had used to build even a bigger empire. Anna was skeptical until Jennifer said “no one will ever want you.” How could she the one that always over looked be marring one of the richest men on the planet? Kace was recovery from a horrible motorcycle accident, it had taken him a lot of physical therapy to get back to normal well unless you count the scares all over his body. The one thing his accident had taught him was no one cared about him and the only true friend he had was Cody. His previous finance broke off the engagement when it looked like he was not going to full heal. This time Kace was going to try something different his was going to marry Anna and test her to see if she would see past his money by pretending that he still could not walk. Can Anna and Kace make their contract marriage work? Will Kace’s grandfather who wants him to come back to Russia and marry the women he has picked out, leave them alone to see if they can. What has Zac in mind for Anna?
This is a really sweet book and I think worth the read. It reminds me of an old Michael J Fox movie, Greedy, but with a romantic twist. Annabella comes across as kinda childish at first, to be honest. Blowing up at Kace for weird reasons. Sometimes her fits didn’t really seem to match her character at all. It felt like she was looking for reasons to be angry—and her mood just flipped on a dime. I think this was just a way to establish that the two characters really don’t know each other and have a lot of growing together to do. I also think you have to come into it with an understanding of what life must have been like for her before the events of this book—to understand her behavior in the beginning. Kace has his issues too—he’s blunt to the point of rudeness at first. In a way I think hes the way he is because it’s easier to run people off than it is to trust them and have them disappoint him. If you can get past their bad behavior though, they get really sweet together! I like watching them both grow and learn to be better together! It isn’t super spicy, but it doesn’t have some spice. It’s definitely an easy fun read. A good one to read between heavier stuff.
My Husband's Deception by Anne T. Thyssen is a contemporary slow burn romance. Annabella always had a crush on Zac, but now that her sister and Zac are engaged, her dreams are crushed. Her family plots against her by setting her up with Kace Connor—a guy who seems cold and powerful.
After a serious accident two years ago, Kace wants to find out if any women are genuinely interested in him. To see if she’s worth his time and to see if shecould like him for more than his money, he pretends he’s still disabled. When his grandfather shows up wanting to whisk him away to Russia for an arranged marriage, Kace uses Annabella as a distraction. But Ivan, his granddad, isn't the type to be easily turned away. Can Anna and Kace find true love or will their families and distrust ruin things before they begin?
This was a quick book that I enjoyed binge-reading. It was filled with drama. However, I really enjoyed watching Kace and Anna get to know one another. If you like slower burn stories that are sweet and spicy then this is a perfect read for you! If you enjoy nieve female main character, marriage contract, rich male main character, strangers to lovers, slow burn, and medium spice, lots of drama then you'll love My Husbands Deception.

Wow! Both Annabelle and Kace had so much background baggage, whether realized or not, that you immediately felt bad for them...even knowing he was hiding a large truth from her. Anne had me all in my feels from the first dang chapter!
Zac had always been her best friend, and even first kiss, but she was never as good as her sister in the eyes of her family or the world. Kace doesn't trust after everyone, except his best friend Cody, abandoned him after a motorcycle accident that came close to either paralyzing or unaliving him. To the world, he was paralyzed, but he wasn't.
They seemingly navigate her family and the getting to know you phases well. Unfortunately, his estranged Russian grandfather has to show up and ruin things. Following that, Zac has to turn into an even bigger a$$ than initially realized.
Will Kace ever be able to get Annabelle to trust him after learning his secret in a horrible way? Will Zac get what he deserves? You'd better go in over and read it right away!! Just be prepared to feel everything in this one.
This is one of my favourite books from this author. Annabelle has spent her while life in love with her best friend Zac but when he gets engaged to her sister her family arrange a marriage to get her out of the way. Kace is rich and powerful but he was involved in a serious Motorcycle accident which made him question his life choices and his circle of so called friends. He needs this marriage to work so that he doesn't have to go through with an arrange marriage his family have planned for him. Can they both make this marriage work despite the baggage they both have from their previous lives, the drama that comes with their families and the secrets they are keeping from each other.... I really enjoyed finding out, it's a slow burn but stay strong the spice is coming and with the chemistry between Annabelle and Kace you know its going to be great. There's plenty of plot twists to keep you enthralled and the dual POV is a really nice touch, giving you the perfect insight into both MCs. I loved it!
Annabella has been the punchline of a joke without even knowing it, taken advantage of by someone she thought was a friend and let down by her family. She was a very well written character that I found it easy to identify and empathise with. While Kace’s character was also good I didn’t have the same connection but that may be personal history rather than differences in character writing. I loved watching them interact with each other, their personalities and histories so different. Quiet shy Annabella vs confident self assured Kace. I loved watching both their walls start to crumble, hers as she realised he wasn’t the rich entitled playboy she had been led to believe and his as he tested her loyalty and tempted her with expensive things so used to people only wanting him for his money and being shocked every time when she refused or chose one of the least expensive wedding rings in the shop despite being shown the opposite. I enjoyed this book a lot and I think there could definitely be more room for Kace and Annabella’s story to continue.
Genuinely loved this one. I normally can't stand catty sibling whatever's, because it winds up leaving such a bad taste in my mouth. But this one was done with grace.
Annabella is the less loved sibling her family and it's super clear throughout the entire book that no one has truly ever been on her side. She's not physically abused, but it's clear that they don't think that she's "a worry" for anyone in her family.
The contract and marriage that she signs gives her everything that she needs until she discovers his betrayal and just let me tell you. These two deserve the relationship that comes out of that contract. He grows as a human just for her, if not just to deserve her but to eventually save her from people in her past. And she needs to learn to be her own person and find herself.
Honestly, I loved this relationship and even though I was annoyed with his deception at the beginning couldn't find much fault with it after learning about all the things he went through before finding his one.
Annabella and Kace's story is so great. I enjoyed their banter, her sass, his honesty even though it hurt feelings, her strength, there was so much. Kace and Annabella enter into a marriage that neither one of them really want. Annabella is looking to escape her family and Kace is seeking a partner who will stay loyal and true to him even through his disability. As their relationship grows and they get to know more about each other, their relationship is tested time and time again. Especially when Kace's grandfather finds out about the marriage and is pretty upset about it. I really thought that once his grandfather got involved, things were going to end badly. The book is well written and the characters are very well developed, though, I think Kace could have used a little more personality. Annabella started undergoing character growth from the moment she got married and started speaking up to defend Kace. The writing style was easy to follow. I would say, add this one to your tbr.
"My Husband's Deception" was a true slow burn romance. Anna and Kace had a very interesting dynamic from the start and at times through the first half of the book Anna literally pissed me off with her not wanting to stand up for herself with how her family treated her. This reason alone is why it took me forever to finish this particular book LOL. I will say, seeing Anna and Kace bring out the best parts of each other really turned the whole storyline around for me. Through toxic family members and loads of drama, they found something real with each other (or did they)? Seeing her confidence shine and her sassy side come out because of Kace igniting a fire within her was E V E R Y T H I N G. I enjoyed the storyline and minor plot twists, and loved that Anna and Kace found one another in an arranged way. Overall, it was a good read and I can't wait to dive into another one of Anne's books! :)
3.5* A slow-burn romance where each side of the couple has their reasons for letting the arranged marriage happen. Anna wants to escape her family, and Kace doesn't want to have to marry someone else and move back to Russia. The only issue is there is one major secret that Kace is keeping from Anna and even if she does fall in love with him, it could destroy everything.
I enjoyed the premise of the story on this one, and at times even hoped that Kace would tell Anna about what he was keeping secret but I found reading the story hard. At points, the chapters for me seemed to end fairly abruptly and there were some where 90% of the chapter seemed to be just speech, and the other 10% was action. Honestly, this could just be a me thing though cause as I said I actually loved the idea of the story and I was rooting for both Anna and Kace.
Annabelle win love with Zac, her friend. The only problem is he is her sister's fiancé. She is upset with her sister but then finds out more troubling news. Her family has plans to marry her off to Kace, a man with a very cold personality. Annabelle feels blindsided and betrayed by her family so she agrees to marry Kace to be free of them. Kace is very rich and he's also in a wheelchair. But he's keeping a very important secret from Annabelle. Will she be able to trust him when she finds out? I really liked Annabelle's character, she went through a lot of growing up and was treated very badly by her family. And Zac is definitely not who she thought he was. Kace and Annabelle have a slow burn. I would've liked to have seen the spice start earlier in the story and a little more of it. This is why I have four stars. This was a good story with a lot of family drama.
***ARC REVIEW*** Name: My Husband’s Deception By: Anne T. Thyssen Rate: 4
~Another romance book that you will enjoy. Who knew that a contract marriage will turn into true love. Kace was tired of women who only wanted him for his money and plus his grandfather was trying to arrange this marriage in Russia was a big no no… So, he decided to make a plan of his own after his accident to act like he is disabled . Annabella was so over the way her family treats her… them thinking she was “obsessing” with her sister fiancé was a disgrace… So her sister and parents arrange this marriage to Kace, but little did anyone know that this marriage turns out to be the best thing ever for Annabella. The storyline is good, it will keep you entertained. I did enjoy how he fought for her at the end.
Annabella and Kace both need to marry, so they both sign papers and voila - the deed is done! They don't know each other, only each other's reputations. As they do get to know one another, they see each other’s authenticity. I love love love how their companionship grows. Ooh and the spiciness!!! It is yummy!! Their chemistry is off the charts. Annabella is amazing - everyone underestimates her and she's the strongest of them all. Kace and Annabella have outside forces against them for sure. Can they band together in the face of adversity and trust each other with their hearts?
This book is so well written. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. I was sad to see it end. I hope there is a future books with Cody. That would be grand! All in all, this was such an amazing romance.
Annabelle marries Kace Connor via a contract in order to escape her emotionally abusive family and the humiliation of falling for her best friend who proposes to her sister instead of her.
Kace marries Annabelle for his own reasons, one to push off his Russian grandfathers arranged marriage, and the other to test her to see if she is worthy of his protection, riches, and affection.
While the storyline is intriguing, there are some nonsensical parts that just don’t flow smoothly. BUT, as a reader of romance, the reader is invested until the end to ensure Annabelle and Kace get their happy ending.
This was an interesting read, Annabella starts off seeming like a shy and quite lonely young lady who had the misfortune to fall in love with her best friend who ends up engaged to her sister! But as we get into the story and learn more about Anna it soon becomes clear that her family are a nasty bunch and she's better off without them! But is she any better off with Kace? He has lied to her from the start but they are trying to build a connection and make their marriage work. I loved how much Anna grew, she became a strong, confident person when she had someone in her corner and I loved it when she stood up for herself.
Anna's (FMC) family are truly awful especially her sister (couldnt stand her) and her and fiance. Who happens to be her Ex-friend (absolutely spineless!). Both of which near enough shunned her and bully her into a marriage of convenience to rich guy - Kace. Who has been left in a wheelchair after an accident. Only things aren't all they seem with him. The relationship that they built up slowly was sweet even if Kace held a lot of distrust because of his money and the people he associated with. Their dynamic was what I loved about this book even if it was a relatively slow burn. I really liked that it was. A great read.
Okay first up, this is mostly a trigger free book, but there are a couple midway through that you need to read the list for. Not a huge part of the book.
Kace had suffered a horrible accident. Thanks to his grandfather he needs a bride, but most are only interested in him for his money and not him. Will Annabella be the same?
Annabella just wanted to be away from her family. The man she had a crush on has become engaged to his sister. They always see her as the weak link. So they gave her a marriage contract and she took it. Can she overcome all her insecurities to be with him?
