Vivien is a seemingly average young woman who lives with her husband and works at Starbucks. Her one ambition in life is to be a mother. She is struggling to get pregnant or to stay pregnant. At the very start of this story, she is raped on her way home from work. Lucky to be alive, she is slowly recovering from the attack when she discovers that she is pregnant. Unlike all of her previous pregnancies, this one lasts, and Vivien must come to terms with the fact that she has a chance to finally be a mother, but in this unexpected way. With more questions than answers, she is trying to navigate the waters of trauma, marriage, family relations, recovery, and parenthood.
