There are a LOT of things that I love about this comic book series. One of those things happens to be the very cool MCR-esque book titles.

This one's called Finale--of course--but it also has the very awesome alternative, Brothers and Sisters I Am an Atomic Bomb. I mean, come on, how could you not love that?

Well, we're finally here. The apocalypse has arrived and it's actually one of their own. So the team gets back together, meet at the orchestra and face their enraged foe in such an unexpected and unique showdown.

I loved how they worked together, yet didn't. A lot of how this played out consisted of each of them doing their own thing and surprising everyone. Even the reader!

It was great to see Sséance in action, too.

Oh, and the last page was super cool. Minimal storytelling in one tiny frame, but the surroundings offered so much more. Like a missing someone, info on the front page of the newspaper, and even the person reading it!

I thought this six-part comic book story about a dysfunctional family of superheroes, who aren't keen on being so super and care even less about being heroes, was AWESOME!

The dark imagery totally appealed to me. The flawed and odd characters kept me glued to the pages. The timeless feel was so very cool. The art style just as cool. And the overall vision was just so unique.

In a world full of superheroes, this one managed to be completely different, stood on its own.

I'll definitely be checking more out, and am really looking forward to the show.

I was totally enraptured! It's been a long time since I read comics, and apparently I was too engrossed with Umbrella Academy the Netflix version, that I start reading on the comic too. It was wonderful experience. I can finally say that adaptation and the original can be quite different, but both can also be enjoyable. I clearly love to experience the two different plots. Most recommended, especially since the six issues are quite short, very fitting for one sitting read.

Super easy to read, I liked it! Maybe the only thing that I didn't like is that it was too gory to me. I mean, I like action and adventure but not that level of violence. The story was a fast way to who resume the 1st season of the show. Although there are some things that are different, you can watch the TV show and read the comics and you will enjoy them both.

6/6 The Umbrella Academy

Not sure how happy I am with this finale, it came to some obvious endings but not enough brilliant conclusions.
It satisfied very little of the hunger the previous issues had built

The following is a review for the six parts that make up the first volume, as it is difficult to review each individual part alone.

I’ve heard a lot about The Umbrella Academy, so I decided it was finally time to dive into the first volume – Apocalypse Suite – and give it a try. I’ll be honest and say that I’m not the biggest fan of graphic novels, in fact I’m super picky, but I was curious enough to dive in.

Apocalypse Suite was an interesting introduction to The Umbrella Academy world, and I happily devoured this in no time. Although it was an easy read that had me curious about how things would play out, it did not wow me quite as much as I had hoped it would. There were quite a few things that were never quite as clear as I had hoped, and this stopped me from being fully invested.

All in all, interesting but not quite for me.

This is such a beautifully chaotic ending and so perfect for this group, everything happens in one giant flash…and then we get our breakfast club ending with everything working out exactly as planned…well…somewhat anyways. The end of the world is here and this issue starts with Vanya blowing the roof off of the Icarus theater and causing it to leak into the rest of the world. As Five, spaceboy, and rumor head to face Vanya…Klaus says goodbye via the televator for another important task. Well I say “says goodbye,” but really was an allusion to Klaus showing off his awesome Good Bye hand tattoo. Inside the theater another member of the family has already beaten them there…Kraken. As the band is instructed not to stop playing, he jumps down and takes a knife to Vanya’s throat. But she knows he won’t do it…because deep down they love each other. She knows he won’t do it so well, that she even lifts her neck up to the knife and strums the strings on her body on knife…causing a single note to go out and send Kraken flying through the wall…where he fell right in front of the rest of the family. Hahahaha, he really should stop running off alone. The whole family is here for once to see one of Vanya’s performances. They really should have stuck around more as she is planning this one to be the last. Rumor begins to speak to shut Vanya down…only for the white violin to slice her throat open. As Kraken and five move inside after Vanya, only to end up dealing with her orchestra…spaceboy springs into action and flies Allison away to the nearest hospital. But at that exact same moment an elevator dings…and Vanya turns around to find Seance, dressed as their father, joined by the composer Igor Stravinsky with the Manchester children’s orchestra and a few members of the Ube tribe. All here in order to stop her performance by playing Rite of Spring at a very specific tempo. This isn’t seance, this is seance channeling their father!! As expected of any member of the academy, Vanya’s attention immediately shifts to him…as it always has. And as always he is disappointed in her, she is loosing and can’t even destroy the end of the world properly and is once again a failure. Kraken takes this moment to genuinely reach out to her, showing his true emotions for the first time. She doesn’t have to listen to their father, all they ever wanted was his love and he never cared if they lived or died…but that doesn’t matter as long as someone does. But it doesn’t appear Vanya is buying into it, and right as she turns around…FIVE BLOWS HER BRAINS OUT?! HOLY &%#$ I FORGOT ABOUT THAT! Everyone’s scrambling now, what the hell was that?! Seance drops the act, turns out their father is even more stubborn in death and maybe he does have a career in acting. But Vanya’s not dead! She isn’t out to kill them now, and actually if she had the chance she would stop it. Five starts freaking out…stop what?! They may have ruined the concert, but even a failed performance comes to a finale. I love the “OH SHIT” faces on everyone here…as they look up to see a piece of the moon coming down on them! With a giant explosion…we are suddenly created by a hand with the world “Hello” written on it. Would you look at that…we’re all still alive and Kalus inherit telekinesis is lifting the piece of moon!! Hahahaha. As the issue comes to an end we find out that seance saved them, rumor is still alive but with her vocal cords severed she may never speak again, spaceboy finally revived the call from the moon he has bene waiting for…accept it was about a chunk of it falling towards earth, which they already handled, lol. Vanya is going to survive, the bullet missed a vital portion of her brain and her memories should return…but she may never play the violin again. Inspector Lupo arrested the members of the orchestra, as he was waiting outside on a hunch. And Luthor, Klaus, Five, and Diego ended up hitching a ride home from some piano movers as the televator stopped working. As they arrive him they find out why…the Eiffel Tower fell back down from space and destroyed their house. They aren’t shedding any tears over it though. The house that held so many terrible memories was gone, and now it is finally a chance for the family to work together to rebuild. Gosh I love this series so much!

Igual me encanto, no me mal interpreten.

Odd Ending

I’m hoping I’m just not used to hiw quickly the story of a comic moves, but this felt very rushed. I do like the slight implications that Diego and Luther start rebuilding their relationship, maybe.?

Tied up

This issue brought everything to an end, at least for this story. Quite different from the TV show, which personally I prefer. Overall, the best issue of the first six.

I wish there had been a bit more development; I understand that this is graphic novels, but it feels like reading summaries rather than full arcs.
