Danielle is on a mission to take down a killer, when all signs point to vampire she recruits Orion to help. Bribing him with information on the Fae Queen who stole his crown takes her further into the supernatural world than she wanted. Working side by side, they start to realize there is more there than a forced work relationship, but Orion is still pining over the disappearance of Tegan.
A missing human
Tegan’s kidnapping is taking a toll on the whole territory, Lucius is losing his sanity and the war has taken a turn for the worst. Fed up with the chaos Orion seeks to escape the territory, but other than death there’s only one other option —taking back his crown. After centuries of working under the vampire Danielle offers him the chance and ability to take his rightful place.
A.L. Kessler is an author of paranormal and urban fantasy books and is best known for her “Here Witchy Witchy” series. A self-proclaimed coffee addict, she resides in Colorado Springs with her family and menagerie of animals. When she’s not writing her next book, she loves to read and visit with friends and family.
This is the 3 book in the series. In this book, all the pieces of why there is an impending battle come together. This book also focuses on the relationship between Orion and Danielle. Orion is fae and Danielle is a hunter (she hunts down supernaturals that hurt innocent humans). This was my favorite of the 3 books (so far!). I enjoyed seeing the final pieces about the battle falling into place but I also was curious about Orion since book one.
All the characters from the previous two books play roles in this third book so each character grows as well.
There is also a mystery about why innocent humans are being killed. This leads to another action packed story line.
Book 3 also introduced some new characters that seem like they could have larger rolls in the next book.
This book wrapped up Orion and Danielle’s story and we have a full understanding as to why there would be a battle. But right at the end, there is another cliffhanger.
This is a great series. I like how there are many different supernatural beings all together and their relationships with one another within the territory. I also enjoy that each book focuses on two of the characters but incorporates all the other characters that we have already met. As well as slowly bringing in new characters that have a hint at playing a bigger role in a future book.
Fantastic addition to the series and for those of you who loves Orion this book should not be missed. I enjoyed reading this story and the characters, I love how the author opened Dani secrets and how she unfolds the plot. As in each book of this series a reader always receives great action, romance and characters. I recommend this series to any PNR reader.
I have enjoyed this series so much, but On Torn Wings is definitely one of my favourites!! A lot of things happened in this book and I was often on the edge of my seat, wondering what will happen next! It was a thrilling, action packed and steamy read! What more can I want in a paranormal romance!!
Orion… he is such a great character to read about! He had a tough life when he was in the Fae world, but has made the right alliances since then. He is loyal and very passionate, especially when it comes to those he cares about, like Tegan and Dani. Dani, she has secrets that slowly came to light and I was a little shocked as to what they were and how she is tied to the paranormal world. It is definitely something that I’m excited to see more details of!! I loved how committed she is to her work, but she knows there are traitors in ‘The Hunters’ ranks. She keeps things close to her chest when she needs too.
The plot in On Torn Wings was action packed and it has definitely been built up for the next books in the series! Marcus is still plotting his evil schemes and it was thrilling to see some of them unfold! Orion faced the Demons from his past and I can see what an asset Dani is for both Orion and even Lucius. I liked seeing all the characters that were in the previous books too, as they all play a role in the building story. I am VERY excited to read the next book in the series… there are more things to unfold and I have a lot of questions I need answers to!
Complimentary copy provided by the Author in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a good book, I didn't put it down once I started reading it! I LOVE Dani! I really love how the characters in the third book in this series were developed and easily relatable but also there are the ones we love but hate at the same time, I can't wait for the next one! The further in I get the more I seem to want!
Teagan is missing!!! This is not good news for the people in Lucius' territory. Orion, the fae with broken wings as distraught. Teagan was his charge and he is desparately searching for her. Lucius is slowly going crazy, and Danielle (the Hunter) finds herself stuck in the middle of it all. When her investiagion into dead humans leads her to Orion for help, she realizes that she may have just stepped into more than she can handle.
Danielle is a very strong person - and we learn more about her history and what made her this way as we go through the story. I really like how her past is tied into the future and how things will play out as the book continues. Danielle and Orion have a very strong attraction to each other - and this attractions leads to some really great things, but it also puts Danielle in the sights of Lucius.
There is a lot going on in this book. Orion's past is coming back to haunt him, Danielle's past is discovered and that could have some major repurcussions, and Teagan - well a missing Teagan means total chaos everywhere. This book really satisfied the urban fantasy fan in me, without leaving the romance hanging at all. Such a great combination of what I like best about both genres.
A FANTASTIC addition to the series. This book literally leaves you begging for the next book. It was a great read. The romance draws you in, the drama pulls at you. The characters will make you laugh, and cry.
A.L. has taken paranormal romance novels to the next level. In this third of the series, which is my favorite so far, Orion, a fae with a haunted past interacts with Danielle, an unlikely human partner. She risks her job as a vampire hunter to partner with and later strike up a deeper connection to Orion. I love the fact that even Orion, with his powers and the fact he is fae, is also under Lucius' control in order to survive.
Since my genre tends to lean more toward fantasy, it was refreshing to have a character who came from the fae realm and interact with other paranormal beings and humans.
The romance that is found in this and the others in the series isn't over the top. Rather it has been tastefully done, even in the sexual descriptions. This book flows seamlessly from book one and you don't feel lost or separated from the series. (assuming you read it as a series)
I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of paranormal romance novels!
I am giving this review for author A.L. Kessler. This is book 3 of the Dark Chronicles book series by the author.
Danielle has been under the supernatural radar so to speak for years, even though she is an Elite hunter. She has her secrets just like everyone else does but some are more shocking then others. Orion has been friends with Tegan for years and now someone has taken her. With the help of Danielle by his side, Orion is going after Tegan and his heritage.
This book has to be the best of the series by far. Drama, action and romance all tied into a story with werewolves, hunters and Fae. Nothing bad to say about this read.
This is another must for any paranormal romance reader who likes it a little dark.
I received ARC version of On Torn Wings for honest review.
On Torn Wings is the third book of the Dark War Chronicles.
The main focus in this book is on Orion; the Fae Prince who had lost his wings and Danielle who is the Hunter with secrets her own.
Though the main focus is on those two characters, the reader is being pulled more inside of the War between the Circle and other supernatural creatures. With Tegan being kidnapped; Lucius, the vampire leader of his area is starting to feel the effects of being away from Tegan; who is his blood bonded. Because of the fear of the Father (the very first of the vampires) being woken, everything is starting to crumble.
As soon as I started to read this I could imagine how everyone was doing their best to get Tegan back, and to keep order in Lucius' Area. I was glad to see that there were characters from the earlier books still in there and they just weren't ignored as some other authors might do; (with them not being the main characters anymore).
I can gladly say that this made me hunger for more and I will give this story 5/5 Cupcakes!
