His Princess #2

His Lovebug

Rate this book
The Protective Future Husband
Matthew “Colt” Coltrane has a new lease on life now that he’s engaged. He’s in love, and the thought of losing Quin—the man he dotingly calls his wife—is unbearable. Colt will do anything to protect Quin from dangerous men, and that goes double for Colt’s brother, who surprises them with a visit. Jackson is a self-centered nightmare, and he has caused issues for Colt in the past. It’s too bad that Jackson doesn’t understand Colt would sooner end the threat to his wife than let Quin get hurt.

Always at His Side
Quin Kiskadden is still learning a lot about his husband to be, and he’s also discovering more about himself and who he is. When Colt’s brother visits, trouble is hot on his heels. While Quin’s ready to welcome Jackson into their home, Colt is prepared for chaos. The crisis comes in the form of an old family “friend,” who attempts to destroy their life for hiding Jackson.

Thriving as a Couple
Colt and Quin are happy with each other, but they have a long journey ahead before they can fully overcome the rocky beginning of their relationship. Colt must learn to trust Quin, even when Colt’s instincts urge him to become a caveman and protect Quin, while Quin wrestles with the kind of life he will live with Colt as his partner. Danger lurks around every corner, and the only way to survive is by holding on to each other.

Disappointing. I didn’t care much for the plot and I had hoped they moved on from the wife/husband endearment since book one. But they certainly didn’t. That and the amount of Colt trying to knock up Quin was grading on my nerves. Not that I minded them their breeding kink but the repetitiveness of it all annoyed the hell out of me.

CW: heavy on the feminization; the wife (still not legally tho) is genderfluid and uses he/him pronouns.

“Anything you want, Lovebug. You say the word and it’s yours.”
“Oh, you’re going to regret that.”
I didn’t even care. I would burn the world down, if that was what he wanted.

I personally wouldn’t recommend reading this as a standalone.

His Lovebug picks up where His Princess left off. Colt and Quin are engaged and planning to marry soon. Colt is still his possessive, protective self, but Quin has grown into a man capable of giving it right back to him. In book one, I never felt particularly drawn to the characters, but I liked them a lot better in this book.

Things are moving smoothly until Colt’s brother Jackson shows up, bringing danger and drama with him. There is history there, but family is family. Colt will do whatever it takes to keep Quin safe. I loved seeing Quin’s fire grow more. The way he challenged Colt and worked with Derek made me happy. The characters overall have more depth to them. Gregory and Brightly write the danger and violence perfectly. And as always, these two authors bring the heat. Spice for days in this book. 🔥

I loved getting to see West again. And I can’t wait to see what they have in store for Royal.

Matt and Quin have settled well into a relationship and a daily routine.
When a ghost from Matts past comes calling, it tests the foundation of his relationship with Quin.

A story of love, rebuilding trust, passion, action and a HFN.
I’m so eager to see what’s next for this couple.

In this second book, Quin and Colt are deliriously happy with their lives together. Quin identifies as a man, dresses like a woman and is comfortable with being both genders. Colt calls him his wife. In an intensely passionate book, these two indulge every desire and then Colt's brother shows up bringing trouble. There is danger and violence, wedding details and more loving on their road to happiness. Super spicy and kinky. I received a copy of this book through Booksprout and this is my voluntary opinion.

One of the MC's said the roll play was rediculous and he was wasn't lying. The sex scenes with every chapter became stale and irritating very fast and felt the book could have developed a bit more if the authors didn't waste time on them.

I wasn't expecting to like this so much, even more than the first book! Perhaps I was a bit harsh with that one, I think I expected something super serious, but that wasn't the intention so it was my bad lol. Sometimes you have to be in the mood to read this type of books. Thankfully, I definitely was this time and I had a lot fun.

This is a sequel to His Princess. The story here follows Quin and Matt as a established couple. Their dynamic has grown a lot since then, they care a lot about each other and their daily lives consists of peace and the practice of a lifestyle that works for both. That is, until they encounter a couple of issues: Jackson, Matt's brother -the one his ex girlfriend, Quin's mom, cheated on with-, appears outside their house and this brings out a series of dangers for both. Matt won't allow Quin to be harmed, no matter at what cost.

I absolutely loved how it was shown that both have grown a lot: Quin into his own person and Matt into a better one. Their relationship was endearing, and I lived for the kinks and role plays. It's not common to find books with feminization in MM, so I'm very glad to have more. I'm hoping this can become a trend because it's one of my favorite aspects of their dynamic. The way they feel comfortable following specific "roles", but they still can step out of them at the moment it's needed... that was perfect.

I also really enjoyed the conflict of the story. I thought it was fun to see another try to get in between them and threaten Quin, because people know he is the person Matt cares for the most and the light of his life. I love how protective he became, and how Quin responded to that, trying to follow what he thinks is a good "wife"/partner. I do think he was a bit too naive at times, but I understand it was necessary for their relationship. The idea of their future wedding, and both calling each other wife and husband, when they haven't married yet? So cute.

One thing that surprised me was how the Jackson issue went. I expected that , but the authors chose another route, and it was refreshing. I love it when my guesses are wrong lol.

Although there were many positives things I have to say about it, I do have to mention that there were a couple I wasn't a bif fan of: part of the dialogue during the sex scenes became a bit too cheesy for my liking at times, and not all the petnames worked for me. Here is a list to explain:
-Petnames that worked for me: wife, princess, sweetheart, baby boy, baby.
-Petnames that didn't: wifey, baby girl, lovebug.

Overall, I enjoyed the hell out of this. I'm hoping the authors aren't done with this universe. I want to see more of Quin and Matt, this time about their married life.

Colt is over his head in love with Quin, he’s his everything. He worships the ground he walks on.
He’s the big bad predator and Quin his prey. Literally!
He’s obsessed with Quin and dog guardedly protective, he will protect him with his life!

And oh, a little detail, they will get married soon! IF Colt behaves!! *snorts*

Their love life is one hot s€xy rollercoaster, hugely satisfying for both their needs (and us lol)

One day Colt’s brother knocked on his front door, Jackson ugh! Trouble!
Yes, he’s the one who cheated with Colt’s ex-wife. The fvcker is bad news.
One finger or one word at Quin, and Colt will finish him!

There are more threats, that’s the part that brings dangerous action into this story.
The other action we get is hot hot off the charts s€xy scenes, with the dirtiest talks ever. Dang are they hot for each other, my e-reader was on fire!

I love and hugely enjoy the books coming from these authors!
Right before I start reading one of their stories, there’s always a feeling running through me of delight and excitement, to be honest, that’s the best way to start a story!

His Lovebug by Ki Brightly and M.D. Gregory is a heartwarming and steamy continuation of Colt and Quin’s story, and I absolutely loved revisiting these two!

Colt and Quin make such a dynamic and balanced couple, both in and out of the bedroom. Their love and support for each other shine through every page, even when Colt’s overbearing and domineering nature surfaces. What I loved most was seeing Quin challenge Colt when needed, showing how strong and equal their relationship truly is.

The connection between them is undeniable, and their love feels so powerful—it practically leaps off the page. Returning to their world felt like coming home, and their story pulled me right in from the start. It’s the perfect mix of tenderness, passion, and emotional growth, and it did not disappoint.

I hope we get to see more from Colt, Quin, and their friends in the future. This couple’s bond is something special, and I can’t wait for more!

The second book about Quin and Colt. You really need to have read the first book in order to understand everything going on.

This book had more action than the last one, making for a quick paced read. As Quin and Colt are already together is this book, the focus was more on them navigating sticky situations together, learning to work together as a team. Which was really difficult for Colt, as he wants to keep Quin safe most of all. Meaning he doesn't want Quin to go out and help him when things go down. But Quin is nothing if not loyal, and there's no way in hell he will let his almost husband take on everything by himself.

Even though Colt's job isn't exactly legal and he really is a morally grey character, this book didn't read as a dark read. They are some darker themes, mostly killing, but nothing gory or scary. It's above all a romantic story.

I really liked this book, getting to know Quin and Colt even better. They are opposites in almost any way, but they are really lovely together and take care of each the best they can. I hope we get more books about them!

Of course, this books being set in New Gothenburg, we do see some familiar faces from other books by the same authors set in this city, which I think is great. However, this book can be read on it's own, with the exception of His Princess, the first book about Quin and Colt.

Sequel to His Princess

Matt and Quin are blissfully happy planning their wedding after the previous trouble they had.
Matt's brother Jackson suddenly appears in the wake of danger he created for himself, and he's brought it right to their door.
Jackson is a manipulative little brat who's only interest is himself.
Now there's danger and Quin is in the middle of it and Matt is out for blood.
Matt is able to fend the danger off but not before he almost loses Quin by excluding him from his plans.
Thankfully they're able to continue their plans for their wedding.
It seems as though Jackson might be ready to change his ways with help from one of Matt's men.
I do hope they get their own story.

I didn't like this sequel as much as I liked book #1 😭😭😭

I didn't give a damn about Matt's brother and all the problems he brings. And while the smut was smoking hot as always, I got bored so quickly bc they are doing it all the time and in the most implausible times (like when their house is burning down?? I couldn't concentrate in this smut bc I was thinking about the fire 😭😭). And how tiresome must it be to be around them! I don't know how Derek or Morgan stand them 😭

The feminization kink turned into a genderfluid thing which 😭😭, goodbye kink.

The other kinks got boring pretty fast 😭😭 I guess I liked the roleplay the most?

Everyone is gay and likely to have their own book 😭😭😭

I loved reading His Princess and I was so happy when Ki and Meg release His Lovebug, I missed Colt and Quin so much.

I loved seeing them become a couple, now the flourish of the relation and for the future their weeding.

Quin showed the strong person he is, always at the side of "his husband" even through danger times. And Colt, how loving and caring he was to his baby girl or boy.

Hope we have a book for Jackson and Royal, I think Jackson needs some lesson in manners ;-). Also maybe a book for War and Kit, and for Sky as well.

Can't wait for the next book from New Gothenburg universe!

Whoa! This story is scorching. This is book 2, book 1 is His Princess. Quin identifies male but loves dressing feminine and being referred to in feminine ways. Quin and Matthew are planning their wedding but a surprise visit from Matthew’s brother starts messing that up. Jackson has gotten himself into trouble. Again. But, this time the trouble is landing right at Quinn’s feet. Or car, I should say 🤭 Matthew and his mafia family work to get Jackson out of trouble and keep Quin safe.

This story is equally fun and hot. Some dark themes, it is a mafia after all. I love both stories and will definitely recommend them to everyone.

I love these two! Colt and Quin make a great couple in and out of the bedroom. They support each other through it all. Even when Colt is being overbearing and domineering, he is doing it out of love and it was great to see Quinn challenge Colt on it. The love between this couple is strong and it shines so bright! I was excited to get to return to their world and get to visit them again. Their story pulled me right in and did not disappoint. I hope we get to see more from them and their friends in the future.

Such a great sequel to His Princess. Though there are more obstacles and plot in this one, there is no shortage of smut and the dirty talk is just as delicious as the first book. Great balance of plot and spice in this one.

I also loved seeing more of the side characters mentioned in Book 1 become a bit more prominent here, like Derek, Royal, and Jackson (side-eyes him). There's also a familiar pop-up of The Courtesan, which is mentioned in other New Gothenburg world books, but was a nice easter egg crossover thing to see here lol

Can't wait to read more in this series. Hope the other couples get books too.

I love how Matt and Quin's relationship has grown and Quin feels like he can voice what he feels more. I love how protective Matt is over Quin but that Quin also stands up for himself as well. I enjoyed meeting Jackson and seeing more of Royal. It's looking like Jackson may get his own book and Daddy. Jackson causes trouble but Quin still wants Matt to work things out since they're brothers.

**This series is best served when read in order**

Everytime you can get things running smoothly, here comes trouble. Colt and Quin are settling into domesticity. Unfortunately Colt's brother decides to bring his baggage of trouble when he visits.
These lovebirds have too much to navigate for this drama. Thankfully, they managed to remain steadfast in their commitment to one another.

Colt is still as possessive as ever. Well actually even more so! But I was beyond impressed with Quin in this book. He has learned how to balance Colt out. Yes, Colt is going to be demanding and protect him, but Quin has grown into himself as well. This really shines in their hot and dirty intimate times! Oh My! I am already getting excited about a redemption romance for Jackson!

His Lovebug is the sequel of His Princess and continues on Colt and Quinn’s story they are extremely happy together and engaged and planning their wedding but Colt’s brother Jackson pays and unexpected visit and trouble follows him. There is more depth and plot to this sequel so between the drama, action and steam it kept my attention from the start to the finish. Good read.

Ki Brightly and MD Gregory are amazing authors that always give us something new and different- this is a fantastic example. Colt and Quin have built a relationship that is unique and incredibly sexy. From the games that they play to the incredibly serious situations they seem to find themselves in, it’s an awesome ride!

His Lovebug is a follow-up of the book His Princess. In this book Colt and Quinn have started really settling into their relationship when Colt's brother decides to visit and bring trouble with him. Quinn is becoming more comfortable in himself and I love how he and Colt interact. This was another wonderful book in the New Gothenburg world and it was great seeing some old faces.

Not as good as book 1 (but sequels with established couples rarely are) but still really good.

Matt is lucky that Quinn is very forgiving though 😆
I hope we’ll get a book about Jackson now because I want to know that story 👀

Colt and Quinn were as fun in this book as they were in his princess.
I loved how they both loved and protected eachother. Even against family, thats caused issues in the past.

Having old characters from other books return added to my enjoyment

I'm bias cuz I love this couple, but I love this book as well. there was that part where Colt was a jackass and Quin forgave him way too easily. and then he did it again. but he got his own so I'm ok with it.

I want more of them.
