I normally wouldn’t make big hay about the above, but that moment in this volume hits like a truck and almost moved me to tears. It is the saddest a tub of pudding has ever made anybody feel.
Because this situation involves Tomoko, it hits extra hard. Tomoko, as we’ve seen, doesn’t have many friends, so losing a pet that was her companion through high school is a huge deal. Enough to make her rely on Ryouhei, even.
Parental dynamics make up the other good parts of this volume. We get a real feel for the relationship between Tomoko and her mom, which seems to have love, but is very distant and not just physically.
We also have an unexpected encounter with Ryouhei’s father and there’s so much there that needs unpacking and I wish they’d gotten into it more than they do. On the one hand, treating the subject as nothing is really progressive. On the other, I’m not sure that was the intent.
Other dramas continue to pop up, as Tomoko learns to stick up for herself a bit more and comes to defend Ryouhei as well. I’m glad his delinquent look isn’t just breezed over, plus it’s making Tomoko stronger, which will come into play as her safety net at work sees a coming shakeup.
You’ll notice that this kind of skips around the dating quite a bit and that’s because I don’t find these two very interesting together. Tomoko has so little personality that her confidence boost is the most notable thing about her.
Ryouhei is nice but looks mean. That’s as old school as they come. They’re dating, but there’s no spark between them that comes across on the page. It feels very perfunctory and not exciting in the least.
And that’s a problem when this is supposed to be a romance. No matter what I think of the rest of it, and parts of this land like wild, it isn’t achieving its stated purpose and thinks it is, which is unfortunate.

TAMOTSU!! *cries* I really loved this one but holy heck all the emotions! And all the shipping. I love Ryouhei and Tomo they are so cute together and I love them, I love that Tomo asked that when the need was be and that Ryohei was already on the way before she told him what was up, LOVE. Plus, I love that Tomo is getting more of a spin in regards to her boss, he is disgusting and deserves the spite.
That last part was so sweet! Though also sad given that Ryouhei met someone from the past (and I could understand his anger).
This was such a good volume! Love it all! Plus the bonusses! Always love it when extras are added!

La loro relazione sta andando troppo velocemente, mentre i personaggi li trovo fermi al primo volume, nessun tipo di sviluppo. Ho trovato al contrario la narrazione un po’ piatta e gli eventi un po’ buttati a caso.
Si dovrebbe trovare il giusto equilibrio tra storia della relazione in sè ed eventi nel quotidiano perché così com’è ora il tutto è molto sbilanciato.

Just as good as the first volume. It's so satisfying to see Tomoko stand her ground and say how she feels even when it's uncomfortable. I also enjoy seeing her be vulnerable with and reliant on Ryouhei. That said, chapter 14 ends on a weird note that's super out of place. Knowing this is serialized in a josei magazine, I have no clue who that fanservice is for. I hope it's a one-time thing because it's very jarring.

now we’re getting into the personal details of their lives and i love that. i did not need an emotional gut punch with her dog dying but its fine 😭 the manga was still cute and heartwarming.

Este manga tiene algo que me atrapa en cada tomo y hace que me enamore de la historia cada vez un poco más.
En el tomo 2 de La tienda de bicicletas de Takahashi, Tomo y Ryohei por fin formalizan su relación y tienen su primera cita en la que pasan por todo. Tomo descubre cosas nuevas de Ryo, pero aun así siente que hay cosas que quedan sin decir. También recibe buenas y malas noticias, pero su novio estará a su lado apoyándola en todo momento.
Me está gustando la evolución de los protagonistas y de su relación. Tomo va cambiando su actitud en el trabajo, plantando cara cuando es necesario, y Ryohei va mostrando su verdadero yo, tirando por tierra los prejuicios de la gente y me encanta que siempre respete a Tomo en cada paso que dan, esperando a que ella esté lista. Conocemos un poco más de la familia de cada uno, y el pasado de Ryo me tiene bastante intrigada.
Ahora solo falta esperar a que salga el tomo 3, con mucha expectación por lo que puede venir. Un manga que se lee y disfruta en cualquier momento, muy recomendado si os gustan los josei.

Je suis contente d’avoir espacé un peu ma lecture de ces deux tomes sortis en même, j’ai ainsi eu l’impression de recevoir une double dose de bonheur à leur contact, car cette saga est vraiment en passe de devenir une lecture doudou !
Prenant les mêmes ingrédients, à savoir un tranche de vie doux et tranquille mettant en scène la rencontre et la formation d’un couple improbable entre une office lady et un vendeur aux allures de voyou, l’autrice en profite pour glisser lentement de temps en temps vers une critique sociétale plus incisive. Ça me plaît !
Nous avons à la fois des moments plein de douceur où on prend plaisir à voir leur couple se construire tranquillement et de l’autre des dénonciations de violences ordinaires dont il nécessaire de parler. Ainsi, j’ai beaucoup aimé les quelques incursions dans la vie professionnelle de l’héroïne où on se rend compte du sexisme de son patron et des remarques déplacées qu’elle subit parce qu’elle, elle n’ose pas répondre. Ça fait donc du bien de la voir peu à peu prendre confiance en elle grâce à cette rencontre et oser répondre, même si c’est progressif. De la même façon, j’ai aimé la voir tenir tête à ceux qui jugeaient sa relation en se basant sur l’apparence Ryohei. Il est tellement facile de déconsidérer ceux qui ont eu un parcours compliqué dans la vie et tellement plus compliqué d’oser aller vers eux, discuter, apprendre à les connaître. Bravo à elle d’avoir osé !
C’est pourquoi je suis de plus en plus touchée par le portrait de cette femme, même si je dois dire que je ressens parfois une mise à distance entre elle et nous par l’autrice, sans arriver à mettre le doigt sur le pourquoi. Pourtant chaque relation où elle est mise en lumière me plaît, que ce soit avec sa collègue de travail et amie, son chien ou bien sûr Ryohei. L’autrice met de l’émotion dans leurs scènes communes, mais peut-être parce qu’elle fait d’Hanno l’image même de la « petite épouse japonaise », j’ai encore du mal avec elle en tant qu’individualité, parfois.
En revanche, je trouve son couple avec Ryohei trop mignon. J’aime ces hésitations et ces non-dits des premiers temps. J’ai toujours trouvé ça mignon. J’aime la façon dont elle ne prend rien pour acquis et celle dont Ryohei la met au centre de tout, lui demandant son avis et étant prévenant. Malgré leur âge, ce n’est pas encore un couple mature comme on a pu en voir dans d’autres histoires, ils sont encore plutôt dans un schéma de jeunes adultes et c’est mignon. Cependant Ryohei est là pour elle quand elle a besoin (cf son chien) et elle cherche à lui rendre la pareille quand ils croisent quelqu’un de son passé. Il y a donc de bonnes bases pour la poursuite d’une relation saine et équilibrée. Espérons juste qu’on reste sur ce mode tranche de vie qui me convient si bien.
J’aime la douce, la tranquillité, la naïveté de cette histoire, son ambiance bienveillante, joviale et légèrement humoristique parfois. Le temps pris pour mettre en place la relation des héros et le ton un peu hors du temps que l’autrice donne à leur histoire avec cette ambiance rétro des décors. C’est merveilleusement naïf par certains côtés et très actuel, voire intemporel par d’autres.

This is the magical blend of make you laugh and cry. I love how Tomoko and Ryouhei are together; from her uncertainty of their relationship status to the quality of how they care for each other. My absolute favorite panel/scene was when Kimi-Chan tells her boyfriend that “if the delinquent from the bike shop makes Panko cry she’s clobberin’ his ass” and he replies “please don’t”. Kimi-Chan is such a boss bestie. I was not prepared for the emotional damage of Tamotsu passing and the consequent exploration of Tomoko and Ryouhei’s respective parental relationships (mom & transgender pop). The bonus scenes were also very cute!

La lectura se'm passa rapidíssimament i això que per ser un slice of life en aquest volum passen unes quantes coses (gosset)... Tenim la confirmació absoluta que el Ryohei és un tros de pa i una green flag de cap a peus, tot i que sembla arrossegar una situació familiar un pèl complicada. M'encanten, em semblen una parella adorable amb molt de potencial ❤️ arrodoneixo a 5 estrelles perquè m'ha semblat una lectura superamena!

this is quickly becoming a favourite for me. I love how sweet it is and how tomo has to learn to open up and rely on takahashi, while also developing a backbone. got me teary eyed in the Christmas eve arc, though, hits a little close to home as you age and your pets do too.
I just really like how grown up the series is. it's about adults doing adult things and having adult lives. I like the balance of spice that has developed with the sweetness.

This volume was not as strong as the first in developing the romance between Tomoko and Ryouhei. The charm of finding someone comfortable to be with seems overwhelmed by the addition of multiple traumatic conflicts. There are too many, and the story skips tracks so many times that the ending scenes just feel awkward and uncomfortable. I'm really hoping the next volume finds its footing again.

Encore une fois j’ai été impressionné d’être transporté à ce point par ce deuxième tome de ce manga 🤩 une véritable pépite, un petit cocon doux, les émotions nous transpercent et nous renversent avec bonheur. Et bien sûr on en redemande ! Vraiment hâte de la suite 🫶

Le dessin est toujours maladroit et irrégulier, mais on s’attache à nos deux personnages et à leur lien grandissant. Ce tome les voit se confronter à leurs parents et à la place qu’ils ont dans la vie de leurs parents.

I was not expecting this volume to make me cry but it diiiid. Ryouhei is a real one for the help he provided for Tomoko. I'm so interested to hear more about both of their childhoods in future volumes.
