Wintermoon Shorts #2

Stalking Lauren

Rate this book
She can't run from Fate... or from the dragon stalking his obsession. Sam
The scent of jasmine drove my dragon insane, consumed my every thought. I had to find her—the woman carrying that intoxicating fragrance. When I caught her trail, instinct took over. I couldn't stop tracking her, following every move she made. Stalking my fated mate became an obsession I was powerless to resist.Lauren
I knew he was watching, this hulking dragon shifter lurking in the shadows. His glowing eyes followed me wherever I went, relentless and demanding. I should've been afraid, but somewhere deep down, his obsessive stare ignited a craving in me. I found myself longing for the moment he'd finally catch me.

Luna Lauren to the rescue!

Lauren and Sam were truly meant to be and the hope she brought to the Ash clan was sweet to see. Tessa Stone continues to captivate readers with her Wintermoon shorts. She describes these as not really focusing on the plot of the main books but I kinda disagree especially with this particular book. We learn a lot about the first war and the betrayal of the dragons and there were many breadcrumbs dropped in regard to the central plot of the books and the next Great War. Can’t wait for the next!

Nah, because I really didn't like how the dragon shifters were being treated. I get the betrayal that happened and being upset about it but what did that have to do with the Ash Clan? Especially when it's already known that they were the only dragon shifter clan that didn't betray King Amir. I definitely sideyed the other shifters in this book because they were acting the human radicals a bit. Like, keep that energy with the witches and only them. They're the ones responsible for all the BS that happened. Meekah, especially pissed me off being disrespectful to Lauren. I know he got a book coming soon, but the way he acted in this one has me side eyeing him. I'm going to still check it out to see, but his behavior was unacceptable and the fact that we never got to see his apology on page doesn't make it any better. The way the dragons were treated made me fuck with them harder. 1. I love dragons and 2. I'm going to always root for the underdogs. They were definitely the outcasts in this book. I loved how the baby shifters, Torin and Nala embraced them. Shame, that children are more mature, accepting and forgiving than adults.

Moving aside from that, I did enjoy Lauren and Sam's relationship. Him being a virgin was surprising but then again, knowing how dedicated these shifters are about their mates, it's not that shocking tbh. Overall, this was another good addition to the series and I can't wait to return to WinterMoon again soon.

5 stars ⭐️: Please believe me when I say, this series has me in a chokehold!!!!! It’s balanced so perfectly with romance, spice, drama and political tension. I’m curious to find out how the 2nd Great War will unfold!

I think Sam and Lauren’s story touched me the most so far. They both went through a lot in their past. Seeing how Lauren was able to eventually embrace her role in the clan and bring the community together was remarkable! And omg I LOVEEE Tarin and Nala!!! Those babies are so smart. I can’t get enough of them!

Finally!!! A needed breath of fresh air in the book world!!!

Tessa Stone brought her A-game into world building with a classy, binge-worthy read of leading characters leading with the best of human AND shifter traits in a dark world of hate. I have been searching high and low for a read that didn't need to dip into the darkest of desires hinging on dominance and humiliation just because it's fiction, leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Finally, I can sip tea and smile while reaching a worthy HEA. Thank you, Tessa, for your imagination.

Sam!

Sam is the type of crazy that Wintermoon needed. Lauren is absolutely perfect in her position. I love everything about this book.

Another 🔥 paranormal story! Just the right amount of spice, and character development. I enjoyed Lauren and Sam's story, and I loved the fact that Lauren was into being a fated mate and didn't spend half the story fighting it, like a lot of FMC in shifter stories. Definitely recommend

Ok so Sam is, by far, the creepiest shifter in the Wintermoon and Fated Mates series. Breaking into her apartment and sniffing her panties my 🥷🏾???!!! Now Tessa why you made him do that? Like I get that the book is called “Stalking Lauren” but come on bruh 🤦🏾‍♀️

And I want to be clear. I have no problem with Sam wanting to sniff Lauren’s panties. My issue is him doing it without her consent. And the fact that I was cool with Sam following Lauren and breaking into her apartment while she slept is besides the point lol.

ANYWAY…

This book felt a little different than the other books in each series. Sam was still very much a possessive yet loving alpha character but he had a sense of innocence and a shyness to him. He longed to be accepted by the other supernaturals and cried when it happened. I also thought it was cute that Sam saved himself for Lauren. And Sam was so sweet when it came to taking care of Tiffany. Sam started off as a creepy mf but his adorableness redeemed him for me.

As with all of the books so far, I really liked the FMC. Lauren was a very persistent character and pretty understanding. She didn’t put up a fight when she learned she was fated and was very open to learning the ways of the Ash clan. Lauren wasn’t always happy with the clan’s way of doing things but she was still open.

I think Sam could’ve prepared Lauren better for what’s expected of her as Luna and how other supernaturals would treat her. He also could’ve taught her the dragon shifter history a lot sooner than Valek did.

Tristian and Ebony make an appearance as well as Kade and Tami and Torin and Nala. It’s always nice getting updates on characters from the other books. It took me a little while to recall that Tiffany is Tami’s bestie from “Taming Kane” but when it clicked, it clicked.

As for the bonus scenes, if you’re looking for a development in the Second Great War subplot (like I was), it ain’t in either of the bonus scenes. The first book is more so about Sam being vulnerable with Lauren and letting her see and receive all of him. The panty situation comes to light and they doing some f*cking in this one. In the second one, Sam and Lauren are just f*cking. All that studying of the human anatomy that Sam did over the past 1,000 years isn’t just handy for his patients. Sam was turning Lauren every way but loose and sexing her like he wasn’t a virgin when they met.

Another terrific read from Winter Moon !!!! 😀😀😀

Another amazing story of Winter Moon and its inhabitants !!
This time its Dragons....
Sam is the Doctor of Winter Moon . As the last clan of dragon shifters , his clan has been blamed for circumstances beyond their control for Ages !! Years and years !!!! It is terrible, but that us the hand that fate dealt. All of them carry that burden. As with the other shifters, the Ash clan is waiting for their fated mates.
Maybe today is the day it all changes.
Lauren is a young lady working towards her degree in medicine. She works for her mother in the department that is studying the ," fated mate ", situation. Although she isn't A zealot like most of the employees there, she didn't like to see regular people taken advantage of . Nor the super natural community , either.
On this particular day, she meets up with her estranged sister , Tiffany , who has had some bad times. Lauren wants to help her, but Tiffany is not making that easy.
Lauren is running out of hope for a relationship with her inky blood relative. Until she gets a call from Andrew at the ," Thirst Trap ", the bar that caters to supernaturals.
Now , Why is Tiffany there of all places ???
I thought Lauren and Sam's story was sweet, and their love made me smile!! I am falling more and more in love with the inhabitants of Winter Moon every single time I read about them !!! So , so happy that the Ash clan is getting some happiness , and I am looking forward to more from this world !!!

Loved It

I really did enjoy this book, partly because Lauren was so different from the other FMCs. Tami, Olivia, and Ebony were all running from something. I would hate to call them damsels in distress, but hey… With Lauren, she had money, she had a career, and she chose to willingly go to Wintermoon. Homegirl was like, bump living in male-dominated strife. I’m trying to live comfortably and I loved that for her. She wasn’t bullheaded.

Also, Sam was so sweet. He was so loving and attentive to Lauren once he finally had her. I also like how the dragon shifters are truly built around community. It seems like the wolf and bear shifters, while they love each other, they kinda just do their own things, even within their own communities. They can go weeks being alone in their own cabins, but the dragons are actually all in with each other.

I hated how they were treated though. It’s such a juxtaposition, where the supernaturals are discriminated against by humans, but then they turn around and discriminate against one of their own. Their lore is really fascinating. They can’t be killed by conventional means, so does this mean the Bailey Witches might be their downfall once again in the GW2?

Can’t wait until the next installment.

Umm…disappointed. After reading the first Wintermoon book, I was expecting to find another cute love story…which it is…because book 2 is basically a carbon copy.

Nothing has changed about the plot. Shifter finds girl, girl gets slapped, shifter comes to the rescue and burns down a building. Shifter takes girl, they fall in love in 2 days and then she gets pregnant.

The plot is a bit nonsensical with a disgustingly utopia ending. The FMC’s sister goes from a drug addict who’s also a survivor of human trafficking to the mayor of Detroit in less than 2 years??? 😂 Cmon!

Actually, this book should have been longer! if they didn’t skim over parts that actually seemed interesting, like Lauren’s confrontation with Trey. (Even tho her showing up to her job to say goodbye was part of the nonsensical part of the plot.) There also should have been an ending confrontation with her asshole adoptive mother who slapped her across the face earlier in the book 😂 SO MUCH MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!

The love story was still cute but I found myself skimming a good portion due to the high level of cringe.

AMAZING READ!!!!

Again Tessa Stone has me in tears. This isn’t only an amazing love story but also a story of resilience, sacrifices, loyalty, and learning to co exist in a community that thrives on each other’s ability to work together as one. Which every community benefits from. The icing on the cake for me was the eagerness and willingness of Lauren to go adapt to her new community but her passion of wanting to it grow and thrive. And her fight for her sister despite the separation. And Sam and Claude helping her to obtain that. And Mother Kade once again helps in that save. And OMG we definitely can’t forget about Toren and Nala. As the saying goes “out of the mouths of babes”!! Tessa you are a phenomenal author. And I look forward to reading more and more of your amazing work!!!

Whaaat! This book is wild and unserious. There were moments I loved and some I was meh on but overall good bridge from the previous books in the series and a potentially new storyline.

Sam was just adorable and 🤌🏾
🐲Don't FAFO about a Dragon with his mate have ppl begging “Please don’t burn the block down,”over his lady love.
🐲 swooping down with your wings out landing Mortal Kombat style in front of the charred body to send a message is what I call top tier urban fantasy romance

Lauren wasn't bad either as the FMC.
🏥 she was in clinicals to be a nurse
🏥steong but not annoying
🏥family focused

She was all "soft life me please....I'm Black girl tired and I don't want it anymore" and what she got was a delicious, melanin rich man with fire in his chest and red glowing eyes 😋

The story was nice and I'm ready for the rest in the series

DRAGONS, DRAGONS, and more

Maaaan, I am so upsesed with this entire series. Her website has the way you should read the series. First, I loved a wolf, and I switched and fell for a bear shifter. But damn it all that aside, I found my calling. I'm officially a dragon lover. No mote changing teams. I want a damn Sam. I love the way the mates have a similarity to the interest of their mates. He's a doctor she's a nurse. Her want and need to help run deep. Not just physically and to help her pack and bless fate they done cleaned Tiffany up. Who better bridge the gap between humans and supernaturals. Tiffany's not fated, but since her sister is, she fights to keep supernaturals and humans safe. Love her spirit. Lauren, you are an inspiration that the future can be changed.

An to think all you had to do was be afraid of spiders then get another assignment. All while your mate is at your backup assignment. I hated how the Dragon Shifters were looked at but needed at the same time. The other shifters were acting like the radicals and didn’t even see it. Lauren was the perfect fit for these shifters to make the change. Lauren was also the help they needed to figure out what and how they were moving back at the labs. Ash Clan got the best Luna ever!!! Only thing is what happened to her momma? Loved that Sam was they’re for Tiffany too. I Hope that Lauren and Tiffany continue to grow into a better relationship. Sam being the 1st of his clan to be fated I can’t wait to see what the rest of the clan get mated off and they are more welcomed. Sam allows us to see more into the Dragon shifters and I think I’m going with the underdogs on this one. They are the most loyal and the most dedicated.

All it takes is one person to make a small change.. Lauren was the Luna for the job !
Nursing intern, trying to strengthen relationships with her family and help clan members better their relationships with each other. Who would have thought, she would be able to bridge the gap between the dragon shifters and other members of Wintermoon 👏🏽

Some people are so stuck in their ways, they don’t like for someone to come in demanding change, even if it can be a positive change for everyone. And Torin, a young alpha, stepping up with Lauren being a good example. Sam and Lauren were my absolute favorite couple!!

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The minute Sam was introduced as a character in fated mates, I wanted to know more and see how the dragons find redemption. I love seeing how slowly the community is healing, and the new generation is looking for unity. I'm sad we didn't get to see what Tiffany gave them to give to Tami. It would have been nice to get closure. Also, I wish Tami had recognized that Lauren is Tiffany's sister.

In fated mates in the fight with Aya when I heard about how she tricked the dragons to turn on the king. From then on, I knew they needed a book of their own.

I want to see what other species is next.

And Then There Were Dragons!

I giggled through this whole book. What a warm story! Sam is so content stalking his mate and his unhinged behavior actually came off as adorable. I laughed out loud when he opened her clothing drawers and started smelling her clothes. Although my least favorite trope is the “miscommunication trope,” Tessa Stone makes it believable with this one. And the modern slang in this one tickled me. Also, the radicals and the reference to sundown towns really spoke to how we as Black people are forced to navigate a hostile world. Being Black AND a woman? The goal post is never stationary, always moving. Great story.

Tessa Stone Doesn’t Miss!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️|🌶️🌶️🌶️.75
This short story provided great details with an amazing plot! I loved the characters throughout and the swoony moments. The MMC’s that the author Tessa Stone write are devoted to the FMC’s and I enjoy that so much! The spice is always so good too.

Also can we talk about how cute Torin and Nala are in every book. I love the little cameos we get of the baby shifters.

This author is now on an auto recommendation for me! You won’t be disappointed! 💖

Glad I didn’t DNF

Boyyyy this book took twists and turns that I didn’t expect. When I thought it was going one way, it went the other.
(SPOILER ALERT!)

Although there is a plot hole concerning Lauren’s job… from the way they’re described you’d think they were going to do more toward the end of the book.

I definitely started tearing up during the festival scene and again during the mayor’s speech. I love community and women’s empowerment and Kade is right. Women DO make the best leaders.
In conclusion, power through and don’t DNF. It’s worth it

I’m not gonna lie this book was beyond lame. I didn’t believe in the main characters love and things just kept happening that didn’t make any sense. Tiffany goes from a trauma filled drug addicted to the resistance leader and mayor in a few short months? Huh??? Girl bye. The FMC and MMC just didn’t feel authentic at all. I feel like they didn’t add anything to the story like nothing they did was significant in anyway. Everything was glossed over and boring. Over all I was extremely disappointed 🤷🏾‍♀️

First this series is excellent. The character building is flawless. Now I had been giving 5 stars, but I had to remove one.
I need an explanation of the children that attend the academy. If shifters have been cursed for 1000 years, none having fated mates to even have children. I have to ask from where do these young shifters come. The radicals capturing and killing their parents doesn't explain it, especially when supposedly the first to find their fated mate are the wolf shifters. I need this to make sense.

I love love loveeeee all of the different characters and seeing how their stories tie into the bigger picture of the story. Getting into the lore of the Dragon shifters and them struggling to fit back in with the Supernatural community is so well written. Sam and Lauren were so cute together, but the stalking portion could have been a little more...stalkery (ignore me, I might be a little unwell lol). But overall I really liked this Wintermoon short because not only was it spicy, but it really did push the story forward. I can't wait to read the next one!

Oh my goodness!! So good!!

Gabriel was my favorite at first, but now Sam has taken over. Oh my goodness, this story of redemption, acceptance and love was so good!! It took Lauren coming into the clan to show them to demand the respect they deserved. Lauren was not only perfect for Sam, but she was just what the clan needed to breath life into them!! My eyes were leaking when they went to festival. It shows that hate is taught, but love and acceptance is too!! This book was awesome. If you haven't checked out Ms. Stone's catalog, you are truly missing out!!

one soul, two halves

From the first book, I’ve been a fan and Tessa Stone has not disappointed me yet. Dragon shifters are new to me and again, no disappointment. If you have not gotten into her catalog, you don’t know what you’re missing. Sam and Lauren are the definition of one soul, two halves. They both wanted change and they fight for it even when it seems like they are fighting people who are clearly on their side.

😍😍😍Lauren & Sam⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tessa Stone ✍️s it I'm buying & reading it. She is my new fave author and I can't get enough of her Wintermoon shifter romances😘I adore dragon shifter Sam; yes he is the ultimate apex predator, ferocious & deadly when his loved ones are threatened (I compare him to Dragon in Game of Thrones)... Swoon😍I wished we got introduced to their baby dragon in an epilogue; but we did get gifted with a bonus novella😄Yeah!!!!💃🍷

The stories are all so unique and makes me fall in love with each new character. I love Lauren following her instincts and introducing change to the clan and beyond! Can’t wait for the next one!
