Some inheritances come with strings. Others come with second chances.
Jana Calloway has spent a decade building the perfect life in Chicago, even if her corner office feels more like a cage than a victory. Maren Foster helps everyone heal except herself, while artist Ivy West runs from every meaningful connection she's ever had. None of them expected to be named heirs to Winterfield Manor—or to face the memory of one night they've spent twelve years trying to forget.
But their beloved professor's final gift isn't just a grand Tudor estate in the Oregon mountains. Within its walls are heartfelt letters and long-buried memories that will either reunite or forever divide three estranged friends forced to finally confront what happened to their friend Caleb.
As winter snow blankets the manor, each woman faces an impossible keep running from the past, or risk everything to understand what they lost—and discover who they've become because of it.
A heartwarming book club favorite for fans of Kate Morton and Kristin Hannah, The Winter Inheritance weaves together three unforgettable journeys of friendship, forgiveness, and the courage to begin again. This atmospheric series proves that it's never too late to find your way home—if you're brave enough to face what's waiting there.

This is Book 1 of the Winterfield Manor series and must be read in order.
THE WINTER INHERITANCE, #1 - This is a book broken into four pieces. All the parts stop at a major point of interest, forcing the purchase of the next piece. My pet peeve acknowledged, but I was lucky. The author kindly gave me the fourth piece since Booksprout had a rule about pieces. I did enjoy reading this story; there was a bit of uniqueness and the women were not drama queens, stupid or mentally off. Something terrible happened to them and they may not have handled it properly. The professor and his home were probably my favorite characters. He by his actions, and the house, well, it's just awesome. I like the author's writing style, and will read more of her books. Source: Booksprout. 4*
#1 - Introduction of characters and their stories.
#2 - The house makes its effects on the three friends and more good happens. 4*
#3 - The reason is found and job offers abound. Honesty rules. 4*
#4 - A good ending for all, including that awesome house.

This is the 1st book of the Winterfield Manor series by Kimberly Van Meter and as the author said: This is book 1 of 4 and must be read in order. This is the story of 3 women, Jana, Maren, and Ivy, who were once inseparable but, one night changed all that. This book ends in a cliff hanger. Read on to find out what happened.

This is the first part of the story of three estranged friends who have inherited a mansion from a professor they had in college. There are hints of what happened in the past that drove a wedge between these women. I loved watching as they worked on the scavenger hunt that the professor had left for them and getting to know their personalities.
Wonderful story about three friends that have to work through some issues and are thrown into something that they have to work out together. Characters are diverse and different but are also long time friends. I like the setting and the story and is very interesting reading.

A beautifully written story and start of an interesting new series. This storyline is exceptional and I enjoyed getting to know the exceptional characters. It has plenty of drama to keep the turning the pages. I look forward to reading the next book. This is going to be an amazing series.
