Karen and her husband Ted were Area Advisers for the Church for 7 years. They have been Ward and Stake Consultants since 2010. Their blog, naswfamilyhistory.blogspot.com is still accessed to this day internationally by thousands of people who are searching for genealogy training. The stories are from their adventures yet the names have been changed to protect the privacy of the patron.
When asked why she decided to write about the Stake Consultant, she said, “The Stake consultant is the one who has the most contact with the public. He or she encourages nonmembers to learn more about their families and encourage others to create family trees for their posterity. Should those people want to explore the options of membership further, they are ready to assist them in their journey.” Karen said, “It is very true that the Stake Library is the most spiritual room in the building for it is where we experience the most miracles and assistance from beyond the veil. There is simply no other way to explain how after twenty or thirty years of research, people enter the room, begin with prayer and ask for assistance and it is miraculously given to them. I can’t explain it any other way.”
