Dragged Home for Christmas

Rate this book
Mike’s inheritance comes with a few unexpected peeling paint, outdated bathrooms—and four drag queens.
Oh, yeah—and secrets. Lots of secrets.

The last thing Mike O’Neill expected was to inherit a property from his Uncle Nick. The Velvet House is part of Provincetown’s history, complete with a bar, a hotel, a dance club, and a venue for drag shows. It’s seen better days, however, and restoring it would require more money than Mike possesses.

It also comes with four squatters who’ve been expecting him—and who won’t leave. In fact, the first night Mike spends under his new roof brings with it some unexpected—and heat-inducing—offers.

What do you call a collection of unwelcome drag queens anyway?

Mike has bigger problems to deal with. The Velvet House is about to go under, taking Nick’s dream with it. Nick’s drag queen found family has plenty of ideas to help save the day, all of which will have unexpected consequences for everyone involved.

Some of those plans require a lot of work, but Christmas is a time of mistletoe and miracles, of laughter and love.

And heels. Don’t forget heels.

This book is all mushy sweetness and fluff! Mike learns that not only has his favorite uncle passed away but, he left Mike with a partially run down building that used to be a hotel and performance studio, and a few drag performers as well.

This book centers on Mike learning things about his uncle, meeting new friends and finding love. However, it also features four other characters finding their loves as well. Compared to most of KC’s books, this one is low on spice and those few scenes are light on detail. The snark, however, is rampant and I loved it!

- Fabulousness/drag queens
- found/self-made family
- easy to read
- low angst
- community cohesion & support
- new business ideas
- new beginnings

This story was easy to read and a lot of fun with different and very unique characters.

I found it a delightful, entertaining, uplifting and funny read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I often was laughing out loud, especially when 'the girls' showed themselves. Those Queens were simply fabulous and I loved getting to know them and 'watch' them perform.

I'd say this story concentrated on finding/building a family, community support, new business ideas and beginnings, being true to oneself and finding love.
I loved that very much. And that all of our friends from the Velvet House aka Nick's Place found their own HEA was the icing on the cake.

Definitely a well written feel good read. I was captivated fast and simply needed to know how it worked out. Because of this I couldn't put it down and had to read it in one sitting.

So why only 4 stars you ask: simply because with all those people finding love it felt like our main couple - Sam & Mike - came a bit short. I would have loved to have more time on page with those two, watching them even more falling in love and building their relationship.

Still: A clear recommendation from me.

I loved it!

K.C. Wells is one of those authors who can write all kinds of stories and write them well. She has sweet and sexy, heart-pounding suspense with romance, BDSM, and super-hot books. Dragged Home for Christmas falls on the sweet side, IMHO, but there’s also a bit of spice for those who need that (I like everything from sweet to 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥).

The blurb describes the story perfectly so I won’t rehash it here. I loved how Mike decided to try and save his uncle’s legacy and how all of the drag queens and people in P-Town rallied around to help him when it seemed like it was going to be an impossible task. His Uncle Nick was loved by so many people and they all wanted to help save the Velvet House.

This book contains more than one love story; not only does Mike get an HEA but so do several other characters and I loved how K.C. wove so many stories into a book that’s only around 46,600 words/150 pages long.

This is a book about found family and has lots of feels. I love stories that make me feel things deeply and this one had me shedding more than a few happy tears before it was over. If you’re looking for a Christmas story that’s a little bit different with fun characters, I encourage you to give this one a try.

This is a very enjoyable and unique Christmas book, with lots of Christmas 'miracles' happening throughout, perhaps with a little help from the ghost of Uncle Nick.

I really enjoyed all the diverse characters Mike finds, when he and his best friend Ashley, move to Provincetown and the old, rundown hotel Uncle Nick has left him in his will. It's a race against time to get the place up and running again in time for Christmas and before the towns property developer can get his hands on it. Along the way Mike finds out why his Uncle Nick had become estranged from the family and meets an entirely new family that he comes to love. It seems that Uncle Nick was known and loved throughout the town and also kept a few secrets, so help floods in to help him and the resident Queens renovate the place. Along the way we meet some wonderfully diverse characters who along with some small miracles, all find their happy ever afters.

A sweet and enjoyable read, written in true KC Wells style and ideal if you're trying to escape the Christmas stress and rush.

A heartwarming, uplifting, cozy story that is a perfect read for the season, offering all the jolly warmth and optimism you could hope for in a holiday romance, complete with sprinkles of fabulousness throughout thanks to the lovely cast of drag queens. The MCs are Mike and Sam, but their friends get to share the limelight. There were a lot of storylines to weave together and holiday miracles to arrange, and though everything worked out beautifully, the relationship of the main couple did not get as much room to bloom as I might have liked. Mike and Sam fall hard and fast, and they’re a lovely match, so I’d have loved for them to get more time to grow closer. The focus of the story is very much on found family, community support, new beginnings, and finding love and acceptance. Absolutely recommend.

This book is funny and hillarious and will leave you with a smile on your face.

I love how Mike finds himself with a new home, 4 glamourous "squatters" and more to his uncle's past than he could ever imagine.
It's a story of how a miracle can be achieved with luck, friends, love and determination.

It is a lighthearted book, there is no real drama or angst, you know that all will be well but you will laugh and cry how not just Mike but all the queens will find their HEA.
Grab your favourite drink, sit back and enjoy the ride.

I think it just topped being my absolute favourite this year.

This is a sweet and endearing story that shows the power of love. I enjoyed meeting Mike and seeing where life took him. Mike is thrown a curveball when he finds out his favorite uncle has passed and that he has an inheritance.
Life is full of ups and downs and twists and turns that you never see coming, it is the way you deal with them that shows the person that you are. I loved seeing who Mike was and the strength that he has. His story is fast paced and full of so many quirky characters. It was nice to see each relationship build and grow into something more. This is a beautiful story for the holidays. I was pulled in right from the start and engaged all the way to the end.

I'm not sure about this book. I kind of liked it, I read it and it had it's moments. All in all it is a smooth sailing, a plethora of characters, so much so that I sometimes had to pause and remember who was who and to confuse everything just throw in all the Drag names....
What I actually liked was that P-town and it's people were basically an additional character.
It's not quite KC's typical style, it's a bit too smooth, to superficial. But nonetheless, it's sweet. 3.5 stars with a tendency to 4.

I’m a KC Wells fan but this little bit of fluff felt disjointed and a little forced. I love a good MM romance and I love drag queen heroes but I also need some tension in the plot. The one and only bad guy was hardly present and offered no real threat to the good-guys ensemble.

Dragged Home for Christmas by K.C. Wells.  This is a story about Mike and how he finds his found family with a bunch of drag queens. When Mike gets a call from his favorite Uncle’s lawyer letting him know he has an Inheritance waiting for him, Mike and his best friend Ashley pick up all their worldly belongings and move to Provincetown to start a new life. When he gets there, he finds four men who have lived with his uncle in the house for years and made it known they were not about to leave under any circumstances. This story was wonderful, sweet and fun and heartwarming. I loved all the connections everyone had with his uncle, and to Mike in such a short time and how the community got together to help one of their own. Reading this just made my heart happy.
