I loved the idea of a cookbook inspired by the "In Death" series and this book is fantastic! The main character, Eve Dallas, is not known for her cooking skills and is often so busy catching criminals, she doesn't want to take the time to eat. However, food and meals play a big part in the books and Sanders explains in the cookbook's introduction her process for selecting what dishes to include. The book has gorgeous photos of the completed dishes and of NYC.
The cookbook is organized by type of meal and has sections for Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Appetizers, Pizza and Pasta, Dinner, Side Dishes, Baking and Sweets, and Drinks and Cocktails. Each recipe includes a color photo and a short excerpt from the "In Death" book that mentions the featured dish. There is a handy index at the back of the book.
My cooking skills aren't that much better than Eve's, but I love looking at cookbooks and this one is fun. There are so many delicious sounding dishes in this book! Some of the recipes are way beyond what I could prepare, but there are some less complex recipes I'd like to try. I highly recommend this book to fans of J.D. Robb and if you're also a cook, you will love it even more.
I received a copy of this book from St. Martin's Press for review consideration. My review is voluntary and unbiased.
