In the world of the cutthroat augmented reality game TransDimensional Hunter, Lynn Raven must outsmart stalker fans and a rogue algorithm, forcing her to push her limits to survive and win the championship.
Truth is stranger than fiction . . . and it’ll kill you a whole lot faster.
When Lynn Raven set out to win the championship for groundbreaking augmented reality game TransDimensional Hunter, the worst she thought she’d face was sunburn, mosquito bites, and annoying spectators.
The more she plays, though, the higher the stakes become—and the stranger the obstacles she has to face.
From dodging fans-turned-stalker to managing inter-team sabotage to surviving the increasingly bizarre antics of a game algorithm that seems to have it out for her, Lynn isn’t sure how much more she can take.
And then the other shoe drops.
If Lynn has any hope of coming out alive and on top, she’ll have to up her game beyond anything she thought possible.
And even that might not be enough.

I have enjoyed every book in this series! I appreciate the struggles of being a teenager with all the angst, personality issues, and having interests different than your peers. I love all the action and watching the characters and how they deal with and grow through their trials and tribulations of maturing responsibility and their life choices. Fiction or not I thank God I'm long past the pettiness and snotty behavior of high school, and looking forward to the saving of the world!
I am loving this series (Trans Dimensional Hunter). This is the 3rd in the series and the book as in all the books of Lydia Sherrer (John Ringo) I don’t want to put them down after I start the book. I felt like I was right there with the characters as they fought their battles and practiced! The story is about a young lady who has been bullied in middle school and has some friends most guys. She is also a gamer and she is a great gamer, but she is gaming under a different persona so her friends don’t know that. The book explorers the lives of the teens and what they each bring to the friendship, their trials and tribulations, how they manage and the adults who help and hinder them all while playing the new game which takes them into VR to play but it sure seems a bit “real”. Can’t wait for the last book!
Once again, Ringo and Sherrer had me so involved in the story that I read the whole book in one sitting. I understood (and even felt) the characters and their motivations so well. The plot is riveting, and I love the character arcs that have been building since the first book. For fans of gaming, of science fiction, of coming of age stories, this novel is not limited to any age or gender. Can't wait for the final installment!
Love this series and how the characters growth from book to book. I only hate that the next book isn’t available to read. Keep them coming, I appreciate the work that went into this series,
It’s a little embarrassing at my advancing age to be jumping up and down and saying to myself (in my head) when’s the next one due.. after all I only bought this one a few days ago.
Great series, fantastic characters and throughly enjoyable, 👍👍 to both authors.
Mr. Ringo and his colleagues always seem to strike the right tempo and pace to keep you in engaged in their books. As a “guy” this series does have a bit of perspective challenge to it, but my daughter, “Napalm”, is an Air Force Viper driver, and she has had similar challenges as the protagonist in real life. It’s a good read.
Perfect title for the third installment of TDHunters. So much going on, changing. What can I say that isn't a spoiler? Action, monsters, senior year struggles, and a bit of romance blooming!
Loved the book..yada yada yada. I want the next one NOW. Lol yes I'm a proponent for instant gratification. Finished this book in 8 hours. Could not put it down. I now know how quiet 3am is. So I guess I would recommend it to EVERYONE.
Lynn Raven and the Skadi Wolves have their eyes set on the TransDimensional Hunter game championship. Sure, the prize of five million and college scholarships would be great, but they want the glory and the joy of killing monsters; many, many monsters.
The game algorithm is out of control, creating faster, smarter, more indestructible monsters, and lots of them. Leveling up to ensure her team has the best gear will help, but the game isn’t their only foe. Other teams that want the win too, and will stop at nothing to get it.
This is the gaming adventure you dream of. Virtual at its highest level. Action, danger, drama, and monsters – everything you want in a sci-fi adventure. This is the first book I have read in this series, and I am impressed. I look forward to the next book in the series. I received a free copy, but my review is honest and voluntary.
I love these books!! I'm not a gamer, but they've totally grabbed me.
The writing is nice and smooth. I think I caught one or two typos, which is excellent.
The storyline has a great combination of personal growth within the characters or the lack of growth in some, which also helps our understanding of certain characters. There's plenty of action, both in the primary theme of the books and in the smaller subplots.
I recommend you read the entire series! This is one series where I think you need to read all of the books in order, so start with the first one. By the time you get through this one, you'll also be begging for book 4 to get written as quickly as possible.
Lynn Raven and the rest of Skadi's Wolves (Edgar, Ronnie, Mack, & Dan) are on a roller coaster ride in this book. They are working on hitting level 40 so they can qualify for the National TD Championship game in Austin. But they also need to graduate from high school first. Then there are all the distractions - team rivalry, attempted sabotage, fake vids, stalkers, etc. to keep everyone on their toes. Add in strange anomalies and coincidences that are getting harder to ignore and Lynn's Mom getting a boyfriend! Everything comes to a head in Austin with a Texas-sized boss fight and a big reveal at the end of the book. It will be interesting to see what the fallout is in Beyond the Rift!
This series continues to give high entertainment value. It gives a pretty decent view into what online/virtual gaming could be in the near future, and also shows what would seem to be a pretty realistic depiction of the issues that non-male folks have in gaming culture. There's a fair amount of teenage angst, but Lynn and her teammates are also maturing and moving toward adulthood. While the target audience would seem to be young-adult/new-adult, even "older" folks like myself can find plenty of enjoyment in the story and the action sequences. Looking forward to the next in the series, likely the last based on the note at the end of this book. Enjoy it while you can.
As Lynn Raven and her friends are about to graduate from high school, the Transdimensional Hunter national championships loom. Lynn’s suspicious mind starts to see glimpses of the sinister truth behind the transdimensional monsters, while she also has to deal with bullies, hormones, and keeping the team focused.
The battle scenes and banter are solid as in the previous two books, making this an easy page turner. This installment also develops Lynn’s character, and the storyline in general, moving things forward nicely.
One really needs to have recently read the previous two books in the series to make sense of what is going on. That it is part of a series (and the ostensibly penultimate book), is its big weakness. It leaves the reader on a cliffhanger, and the build-up to the cliffhanger is telegraphed chapters in advance. I found the previous books in the series more engaging, but sometimes authors feel the need for a lot of exposition and scene-setting, which is what this book does. The drama feels forced, and the battle sequences I found to be at the "more of the same, oh dear" level. Those quibbles aside, it is a fluid fast read.
John Ringo and Lydia Sherrer continue the tale of Lynn Raven, a teenage gamer leading one of the top teams in the AR game TransDimensional Hunter. In this third book of four, she has to train for nationals under public scrutiny, graduate from High School, and help her friends and fellow team mates look Behind the Veil(hard from Baen). Readers will already know that the monsters she fights are quite real and may take down her near-future civilization. I'm really enjoying the tale so far and look forward to the ending next book.
Hot stuff from Lydia Sherrer and John Ringo. Behind the Veil, book 3 in their GameLit TransDimensional Hunter series.
MC Lynn is a HS gamer girl hiding behind a Male persona where she kicks ass and dominates an online shooter, WarMonger. The CEO of the game company notices her and asks her to try out an Augmented Reality game where aliens of different strength levels are fought.
The truth is closer than fiction as Lynn grows to lead her team to be top players in the world. Unexplained events are happening across Earth and the answer is stunning. I look forward to Book 4 Beyond the Rift
The S/F concepts are pretty cool, the scenes flow well, both combat and others, and the plot develops really well as it goes along. But the real standout win here is the 3 dimensional characters, their interactions and development. I really didn't want to put it down at 02:00 this morning, but my eyes were getting sore. Then I picked it up again today and a few hours passed in what seemed like minutes. The only downer about this is waiting for the next book.
This third installment starts a little slower than the two previous books but the heartfelt story and intriguing plot lines quickly hook you. I intentionally slowed down my reading speed to make the story last longer. Or as Larry might say delay the end. I cannot wait for the conclusion. Great job Lydia and John
The fascinating premise of this series is such that I've been waiting on pins and needles for the next book - and it didn't disappoint! I love the gaming mixed with sci-fi, it's a great crossover, and the character arcs are a joy to follow. Need the final book out now because the ratcheting up of the tension and stakes is at a whole new level!
Number three in the series and going strong. Do you ever wonder what would happen if the streaming gaming world is not just fantasy, but is a real alien attack on the earth? Well, this is the series for you. John Ringo and Lydia Sherrer make. a great team. The last in the series will be out with in the year. They have tons of books on their own, so give them a try!
I don't read science fiction, that being said I read the first in this series because I like Lydia Sherrer. What a story, I pre-ordered the 3rd one, this one, now I have to preorder the 4th. Great read.
Not sure why but this novel wasn't quite as good as the first two. Possibly the combat scenes were less distinct or maybe the pacing wasn't as active or something. Still worth reading.
These books are so different from the original Lydia Shorter books I liked so much that it made me pick up this series. I am not complaining I loved these books to. I will be waiting for the next installment
I really enjoyed this adventure. I like how well the characters have developed and the story is great! I am looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.
