Great concept and a respectable fan tribute. Where the book loses points for me is the presentation - I think this would have worked better in oral history format, compiling quotes from everyone interviewed and using them to tell the story of Oasis from the fan’s perspective. That was the aim of the book, but it reads like a short story collection, albeit one with a theme attached to it. Basically every chapter is “Here’s an Oasis fan and here’s their story,” and some stories are more interesting than others.

I commend this book for being comprehensive, starting with the early days of Oasis and the people championing them from day one and ending with the fans who will be seeing them on their current reunion tour. So far, every authorized Oasis biography or documentary has only focused on the band circa 1994 - 1996, the glory days. Oasis fans deserve the whole story with all the good and bad moments - Now that Noel and Liam are on good terms (for the moment,) maybe we’ll eventually get the definitive account.

Thank you to Melissa Locker and Simon Audio for an ALC in exchange for an honest review!

I didn't know much about Oasis beyond Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova before my husband - they're one of his favorite bands. Then we got tickets to their reunion show in California (after being kicked out of the checkout page for a Manchester show because Ticketmaster thought I was a bot *cries*), and he started listening to them even more frequently, and I got hooked. I knew a few things from stuff I'd seen on TikTok or that my husband had told me, so when I saw this was an option for the July Simon Audio program, I knew I wanted to grab it.

I really enjoyed how this was a history through the fans. It just showed how much music can affect people's lives. It also shocked me to see how laid back things were in the mid to early 90s. I mean, people were just hanging out outside of Liam and Noel's houses? And they would go out to bum a smoke off the fans? But beyond how much the music industry has changed since the early 90s, I also learned a lot about the band, even some things my husband didn't know!

The only problem I had with the whole book was the way the narrator pronounces ADIDAS. Is that how everyone with a British accent pronounces it? Because I didn't even realize what they were talking about at first. Other than that, I really liked the narrator. They were fantastic at reflecting the emotions in the stories without being over the top or taking away from the story.

And After All: A Fan History of Oasis is a fun listen that gives you a peek into the mania around Oasis, from their early days to now. And while this definitely got me more hyped for their concert in a month, I am now beyond happy that I wasn't able to get GA/standing tickets since people apparently love to literally 'throw the piss' at Oasis concerts. Yuck.

It's easy to get bogged down with the amount of books and films coming out during the cash grab of this Oasis reunion tour. They are my favorite band ever. I went to Manchester to see their first hometown show in years- i'm part of the problem.

That being said, this book is quite different. It's refreshing seeing it being told entirely b y fan accounts, reading their stories, what made them fall in love with the band, how they grew up, what they felt like seeing them live. Definitely (maybe) recommend this book! :)

Time is the constant of every human life. Some have plenty left and others have less to spare. Millions of fans have spent hours, days, months and years excitedly waiting for Oasis to once again grace the stage. The time has come for the community to gather in stadiums around the globe to bask in the glory of rock n roll. Great art endures across time and Oasis has certainly stood the test of it. The passion of the fans has also passed that very test. The fans make the band as much as the band makes the fans. Whatever, in the end we have all made it happen.

Great read for Oasis fans, loved how it goes down the line of their career with stories of fans and how Oasis impacted their lives. Great prep for the Chicago show next week. Fell in love with Oasis when I heard Stay Young at 8 or 9, 33 now and so excited to see them live. When there are hard times Oasis is always there, my favorite band ever and a book for true fans.

This should actually be a 2 for me my by rating scale, but it just didn't seem fair since I'm really not the target audience since I'm not even an Oasis fan. Just happened to cross my path and I'd never read a book like it, so gave it a whirl
