A classic western novel from Frank Wheeler with non-stop epic adventure and a blend of western romance
War changed Wyatt and Amos Cole. They never imagined they’d return from the war as strangers to each other. Five years after the Civil War nearly tore their family apart, they both find themselves back home.
But home isn’t what it used to be.
The family farm is in shambles, and the once-peaceful town of Coldwater Creek has fallen under the grip of the ruthless Hale gang. Amos has changed too, sinking into a life of gambling and whiskey, leaving Wyatt to care for their younger brother Jesse and fend off the Hales alone.
When the sheriff is gunned down, Wyatt steps in to uphold the law, with unexpected help from his fiery, headstrong neighbor, Frankie Donovan. Every time he warns her that gunfights aren’t for women, she just becomes more determined to join the fray.
But the Hales have no intention of letting Wyatt disrupt their hold on Coldwater Creek. They can’t simply gun him down—not while Wyatt is a celebrated war hero—but their patience is wearing thin.
With tensions rising and danger closing in, can the brothers put aside their differences long enough to take down the Hales? Or are they destined to destroy each other instead?
Each novel in the series is a standalone western which can be read out of order.
Frank Wheeler is an American novelist of Westerns. Since childhood, he has always been fascinated with western history. Frank loves sharing his love of western history through his writing that will entertain readers, and has taken great joy in publishing his Westward Saga series.
He currently lives in Texas with his wife, and three children.
Frank Wheeler allows the reader to decide how to approach adversity. One one side there is the Cole brothers each carving out their own lives, then there is the Hale family trying to tear a town apart to create undeserved loyalty. Believe me the don't mix.
Not the usual “sitting on the edge of my seat” kind of book that Frank Wheeler usually writes, it took all I had to get to the 34% spot in the book before I finally gave up
Well written, and characters that are easy to follow; characters that are real-to-life. Action galore, which is also real-to-life. This is a story that you will be glad you have read.
