Think back to the exact moment when you fell in love for the first time.
That split second. That precise moment.
Can you remember it?

What if you had the chance to relive those moments? Would you take it?
I’ve waited almost ten years for her and my time has finally come. This split second, this precise moment will change her life forever.

**FULL REVIEW**
“All I can do is nod. The feeling inside is gone, completely numb. My mother was my shining light, and now all I have is darkness. Darkness and despair.”
Hard feelings for a young eleven year old boy. But Roman has every right… Thankfully, he has a wonderful aunt and uncle who take him in and raise him as their own. Taken in and loved, around baked goods and happy moments.
As Roman gets older, he helps more and more at the bakery, and one day a girl comes in…he didn’t know what to say or how to act, but in that moment he knew she was his forever.
Melanie Stevens.
Of course, Roman isn’t even a blip on her radar…at seventeen, she has a boyfriend, one that she thought she’d be with forever…but fate has a funny way of making things work out. Or not.
Fast forward ten years…
“Being a firefighter was my dream. It was my purpose. It was my one and only plan. Even wanting Melanie was a surprise in the mix, but deep down, being a part of the New York City Fire Department was all I ever really wanted. When Dr. Ferguson told me that I had a slim to no chance of ever getting back in, I broke down in tears. What do you do when your whole life is turned upside down? How do you pick yourself up and move on from that? How do you live on? Can you?”
Life has a way of bringing soul mates together, even if they don’t see it. Even if life circumstances are not the best, or even how you’d dream them to be when you are finally reunited with the one person who makes your heart beat faster.
Melanie and Roman are thrust into a relationship where he needs her, and she wants him. He doesn’t handle it well, but a little Italian woman and spunky little blonde nurse don’t give up on him. It’s not about duty anymore…it’s about the little moments.
This book is a PERFECT summer read! It’s sweet, and breezy. I would absolutely recommend stretching out on your favorite lounge chair or towel, even a couch or hammock and turn the page. You’ll find that once you start, you can’t stop and when it ends, you feel that dreamy sigh of happily ever after.
He stares into my eyes with such conviction it causes my body to freeze and stop breathing. " I have wanted to be with you since I was seventeen years old. From that first moment you walked into the bakery, I knew that you were the only girl I wanted to be with. There were times when I was close to telling you, but you had a boyfriend and I didn't want to jeopardize that, because I just wanted you to be happy. After years of not seeing you around, I moved on and dated other women, but none of them compared to you. Not even close. The thing was, even though I didn't know you that well, I knew we were right for each other."
So, Little Moments is book two in the Second Chances series. Book one is Little Things and even though I originally read it because of the One Direction song title reference, IT IS AN AMAZING STORY! If you haven't read it yet, one click it ASAP. Both stories are very good and both stories are very different. Luckily, both stories have swoon worthy boys in them.
If you read Little Things, you remember Melanie Stevens. She was Duke Grayson's girlfriend before Duke fell in love with Raya Winters. Melanie is a gorgeous green eyed blonde and definitely not the kind of girl you would think loses the boy. But she does. Even though lost Duke to Raya she's stayed friends with them and is godmother to their little girl. You really feel badly that she hasn't found the one yet. Melanie has this why do I always lose the guy moment and it's kind of heartbreaking, because Melanie is really a too good to be true kind of girl.
Then there's Roman Moretti. Super swoon worthy with dark good looks and an amazingly fit body from being a firefighter for the FDNY. Not to mention an incredible person. Roman lost his father to cancer at a young age and if that's not bad enough, he lost his mom when he was eleven years old in an apartment fire. Taken in by his aunt and uncle, they become a huge part of his life. They take care of him and treat him as if he was their own son.
As a teen ager Roman worked in his aunt and uncles bakery. The very bakery where he meets seventeen year Melanie Stevens for the very first time. I felt like when he met her it was like one of those thunderbolt moments. You know, you feel it in your soul. You meet this person and you'll never be the same again. Even though Roman felt like this about Melanie, he never said a word. She had a boyfriend and Roman is not about to try and interfere with that. What he does know that even after meeting Melanie Stevens that just one time, she is the one for him.
Roman and Melanie's paths don't cross for the next ten years. Then they literally run into each other outside Roman's aunt and uncle's bakery when Melanie brought her goddaughter to get some of the delicious eclairs she remembers from the bakery. Roman is speechless. Face to face once again with the woman of his dreams and now she has a child. He thinks he's missed his chance again until his Aunt Maggie tells him Layla isn't Melanie's child.
So you'd think Roman would go and get the girl after all this time right? Nope that's not what happens. Roman is busy being a firefighter and Melanie is busy being a nurse and their paths won't cross again for a while.
During this time Melanie begins to date (?) one of the doctors she works with. He's very handsome and very good between the sheets. He's also a slime ball and I wish I could have whacked him upside the head. Sadly for Melanie (fortunately for Roman) Dr. Easton Quinn is not relationship material. He also dredges up old feelings of insecurity in Melanie. She wonders why she isn't good enough to get the guy.
Roman and Melanie finally are brought together again by tragedy. Roman's heroic rescue of a little boy in a devastating fire have left him badly burned with internal injuries and a fractured back. Guess who one of his nurses is? Of course...the lovely Melanie. She is such an incredible and caring person I had to wonder if she was real.
During his time in the hospital Roman is in a great deal of pain and learns he may not be able to go back to active duty as a firefighter. He becomes angry and even though Melanie is trying to be there for Roman, he pushes her away. But, Melanie is truly drawn to Roman. Even when she gently touches him she feels a jolt of electricity through her system.
Will Roman let Melanie in? Will Melanie's relationship insecurities let her find love with Roman? And why on earth does Dr. Easton Quinn show up again in our story?
Little Moments is a story about love, hope and never letting go of what you want. I absolutely love Roman Moretti. Not only is he beautiful to look at, but considering everything he's been through he really is the total package.
A four lip smack review for Madison Street's Little Moments. I'm totally looking forward to Little Temptations the next installment of this series.
I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review through Wicked Reads.
This was a sweet, easy read for me. It was a mostly clean, sweet romance story. I had read "Little Things" an thought it was pretty good, so I continued on with the series. First off, I like the cover. It fits Melanie pretty well, but I think this book was all about the male lead, Roman. Roman's story begins in childhood with a devastating bang that draws you to him right away. Despite his agonizing past, he is able to move on and have a loving childhood, even developing a crush on a pretty girl during his teen years. He grows into a pretty amazing, somewhat shy man. Melanie is loving, caring woman who works as nurse and tries her best to take care of her patients like she'd like to be taken care of. She hasn't had the best luck with romance. First, her boyfriend and best friend (Duke and Raya from book 1)fall in love. Then, her colleague comes on to her and they start a sexy fling, only for her to find out he's already taken. She tries to focus on herself and makes some changes in her life. When circumstances land Roman in Melanie's care, they both remember the past and realize that the feeling is still there, but they aren't sure where to go from here or whether a relationship between them could actually work. Overall, I think that Roman's character out-shined Melanie's, but their relationship was sweet to "watch" unfold. Roman's story was surprisingly emotional and deep. I thought that there were quite a lot of "filler" moments that seemed to stretch the story-line longer than necessary, but even with them, it ended up being a solid plot. I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to anyone who has read Little Things by Madison Street and anyone who is into romances with sexy fire fighters and nurses.
All I've got to say is...Roman. He is the absolute best thing about Little Moments--you feel for him, from the time he's a young boy all the way until the end of the book. He's had so much heartache, and still goes on to make something of himself-only to have that torn away as well. Through it all, Melanie pops in and out of his life for short moments
Melanie's character felt a little plain to me, nothing truly outstanding about her though still a nice, helpful young woman who gives back by caring for others.
For much of the book, there's a lot of telling about everyday details; much of which really isn't pertinent to the story and just serves to give an exhaustive accounting of the characters day to day activities. The plot is a good, solid one that I felt got a bit bogged down in the excessive amount of everyday trivialities which for me made the story go slower.
But the core story being told is sweet and a bit emotional, particularly those scenes dealing with Roman and his parents as well as during his recovery. I wasn't quite feeling the spark between him and Melanie until the scene during New Year's Eve...from which point they felt much more like they belonged together.
A light and relatively clean contemporary romance (at least when it came to Melanie and Roman...the scenes with her and Easton are a bit steamier), Little Moments shows Roman's strength and perseverance through the adversity he's faced, and has parts that will make you smile when you're not expecting it.
**I received an Arc of Little Moments in exchange for an honest reveiw**
I absolutely loved "Little Moments". From the first page I was pulled in. Hook line and sinker baby!!! This story is about Roman and Melanie .....and all of their little moments in my eyes became complete fate and destiny. I don't want to go into detail on the story because YOU NEED TO READ IT...and me saying too much will give some story away....and ruin it for you.... but I will say my heart broke, my lungs lost air, my heart soared and I even chuckled lol. You see more of Raya and Duke too which is awesome..... Beautifully written! Madison Street did it again..... she is simply amazing! Bravo! I can not wait to read more from you!
Sometimes at the moment we cross paths with the one person who may very well be the one that will ultimately change our life, we don't even realize it. But, then when fate decides that the time is right we cross paths again and this time everything stops and we see what we missed so many years before.
Roman has endured loss twice in his life, both times when he was young. For him losing not only his father, but then losing his mother to a fire seemed to take away part of his spirit. Luckily he had his aunt and uncle who took him in raised him as if he was their own, and allowed him the chance to follow his dreams. For Roman, this was to become the one thing he could to make amends for not being able to save his mom, and to make her proud, he becomes a firefighter.
Melanie has become a nurse in order to help save lives, especially after watching her best friend lose her mom to domestic abuse. Her caring nature added to her happy go lucky personality makes her perfect for the job. Mel, has endured some pretty hard blows herself, but hasn't allowed them to alter her personality. From almost losing her best friend, to having her high school sweetheart admit to having feelings for her best friend, to then dealing with other jerks in the department of relationships, she has just about chalked up finding her Mr. Right. But again, there is always that pesky little thing called fate that has an alternate plan in mind.
This book was/is wonderfully written and will pull you in and have you wanting both Roman and Melanie to find the happiness that they both desire and deserve. After several meetings and crossing each others paths you find yourself wondering if they will actually realize that they know of each other. The best thing about this book is that it really does make you realize that we do get those "second chances" to find that one thing that we really need, even if for some reason we may have missed it or overlooked it the first time around. Not only do we get to admire the strength and determination of Melanie and Roman, but we also get a brief glance of Raya and Duke from the previous book. And of course we can't forget the other best friend Rob, who has yet decided that he wants to settle down. This book shows that with time, compassion, a strong support group, and of course that thing called fate, anything can happy, and life can change in an instant. It will also have you taking a moment to appreciate what you have in life. For those of you who like a good love story that just pulls at your heart, than this is a book that you will want to read. The other good thing is, even if you haven't read the first book, you can still read this one and not be at a loss as to what takes place.
Roman and Melanie have known of each other since they were teenagers, but never quite getting to know each other more than a few words here and there. But when their jobs bring them together in un-expected and sad way the two finally get a chance to know each other deeper. But will the tragic injuries Roman has suffered make him push Melanie away? And will Melanie have the strength to not give up on him and get Roman to believe in himself?
“At that moment, my heart beats a million miles per minute as the beauty from the past stands there before me. Is this for real? Is she really here? I could never forget those emerald eyes; they’ve haunted my dreams for years.”
I read and loved Little Things, the first novel from this author, so I couldn’t wait to get into Roman and Melanie’s story, and it didn’t disappoint at all. In fact I think I loved this story more! Little Things was quite a dark novel at times, which I enjoy, but I did adore this novel which was not dark but had so much emotion and a brilliant plot that hooked me in from the beginning and kept hold of me right till the very end.
“I see he’s trying to push me away but I won’t have it. One way or another, I’m going to push through and bust down his walls. Whether he likes it or not.”
Melanie and Roman were both characters I fell in love with. Melanie was so sweet and caring in Little Things and she was exactly the same in this novel; but she had also grown into a strong woman, a woman who wanted to help Roman and stand by him even when he wanted to give up on himself. And Roman was quite simple a hero; a firefighter who has lost so much and risks his life for others. He had to battle through so much and yet kept his caring nature, always wanting to put others before himself, even if it was his happiness at stake.
“Every single time he sees me he greets me with a smile. That smile of his melts my heart and causes my breathing to become erratic. I can’t help but feel drawn to him. It’s this force that keeps pulling me toward him and I’m not going to fight it.”
I loved the story; it had the right mixture of everything, love, heartache, laughter, suspense and a beautiful couple you will fall in love with and be hoping they can make it out the other side together. I also loved hearing from Duke and Raya and getting hints about other characters in this novel. If you love romances, you will love Melanie’s and Roman’s sometimes heartbreaking but uplifting story.
I loved everything about this story. Roman and Melanie are phenomenal characters whose story just resonates in my heart.
Roman is an incredible man. I'd call him a survivor but he's more than that. He didn't just survive to exist after tragedy struck at a young age. He sought to honor his memories by pursuing a career that could save others the heartache and grief he'd gone through. Meeting Melanie when he was growing up wasn't in his plan. I don't even really think it's a twist. It was just one of those things that was meant to be. I don't know if it's because of how Ms. Street wrote it or if it was conviction with which Roman believed it, but it was undeniable that they were meant to be together.
While Melanie wasn't available when they were younger, she was when they were older. An injury on the job brought firefighter Roman to the hospital she worked at, thus bringing them in solid contact with one another after so many years of once in a while meetings at his aunt's bakery. She is the very definition of nurturer, her profession is proof of that, but it's not out of obligation or duty that she wants to be with Roman. It's simply because she wants to.
But he pushes her away, not believing himself worthy enough of her and her heart because he isn't whole. And she's afraid to risk her heart again, even if what she feels for Roman is different than what she felt for her ex. Yet Fate continues to bring them together, shows them why that connection they feel for one another won't be cast aside.
"Cherish the little moments because they are what sticks out in your memory the most."
This statement speaks true of this story.
Roman and Melanie's little moments reminded me of the one's I've created, experienced and shared with my husband. They made me sniffle and smile like a sentimental fool. They made me appreciate what I've made with my husband. Their story might be fiction but it mirrors reality. Never forget the little moments. In times of tragedy and/or loss, they are what gets us through to see another day and reach for what was once just out of our reach.
Beautiful writing, Ms. Street. I hope others love and appreciate this story as much as I have.
Think back to the exact moment when you fell in love for the first time.
That split second. That precise moment.
Can you remember it?… Little Moments by Madison Street
I read Little Moments a few weeks ago and I’m a bit late with my review (I am SOOO sorry). Now that I have 5 minutes when my kids are not pulling at my pant leg wanting to be picked up, asking for a snack, or crying because they are bored (SERIOUSLY?? I would give my left arm to have nothing to do all day :-P) I am sitting down to write my glowing review of Little Moments.
I will be honest and what drew me into this book was not the description (at first) it was the cover.. I absolutely love the cover of this book. Once I was done being in awe of the cover I read the description I knew I HAD to have this book. I was lucky enough to score an ARC copy and got to read it before any of you greedy book worms (like myself) had a chance to read it.
The story starts out ten years before the book is taking place when Melanie and Roman first meet in his families bakery. One look and Roman knew that she would have his heart forever.
Fast forward ten years later when they happen to run into each other (they actually run into each other) outside the bakery that they first met at many years ago. They both have grown and changed but they are willing to take fate and run with it. They give their relationship a shot and this is their story.
This book is the second in the Second Chances Series but can be read as a standalone. There were characters that carried over from book one (so I felt like an outsider listening in on an inside joke) but that aside the book is mainly about Melanie and Roman. I loved the concept of the lost love and then found again and felt that the story flowed well and an added benefit of a hot Fire Fighter never hurts.
I give this book a 4 Star rating. I will be looking forward to reading more books written by Madison.
Little Moments is the second book in the Second Chances series. We meet Melanie in Little Things. This is Melanie and Roman's story. Their characters were so sweet and heartfelt. I loved it from the beginning to the end. I even got teary-eyed. Looking forward to more of the Second Chances series.
It's no secret that I loved Little Things, so I was really looking forward to reading Little Moments, and Madison definitely did not disappoint. This book was absolutely amazing. It brought out so many emotions, which is a must for me in a book. It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming, and made me laugh and cry. I found myself smiling so many times. I just loved it.
Little Moments is the story of Melanie, who we met in Little Things, and Roman. Over the course of 10 years, several moments lead Melanie and Roman across each other's paths. These moments make a major impact on Roman, and he can't get Melanie out of his head. Years later, Melanie sees Roman and knows he looks familiar, but can't quite place why. Then tragedy strikes and realization dawns on Melanie as to who Roman is. Now she is in a position to help Roman and be there for him, but will he let her in?
Roman has been smitten with Melanie since the first time he laid eyes on her, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he now only wants to push her away when she's finally around him constantly. He doesn't see himself as a man worthy of her, and tries to push down the attraction and pull that he has always felt towards her.
No matter how hard Roman tries to push Melanie away, she pushes right back. Add in an aunt who only wants the best for Roman, and his walls slowly begin to crumble. When he realizes that Melanie sees him for who he is, despite his current circumstances, he finally allows her into his life and shares his tragic past with her. He realizes that he doesn't have to be strong all the time, and Melanie is more than willing to be there for him to lean on.
Little Moments is a story of healing, self-discovery, friendship, and love. It's absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend.
Madison Street has done it again, given me a story that not only connected me from page 4, but connected to my heart. I was taken back to the first book in the Second Chances series " Little Things". I was already connected to the characters from that first book and love how we got to revisit them in this book. As I said before she had on page page for in my Kindle crying my heart out for the boy and his major life change. I loved Ramon from the beginning, his heart his honor and his personality. Madison brought him to life and made him the key to everything in this book. As you read yes you get that we are reading a book about Melanie as you read along you will notice that the focus really isn't on her but the impact she has on Ramon's life. How she brings him the happiness he deserves. Yes, the book is mainly from her POV but I believe that she was the catalyst for his HEA not the other was around. That is what I love about Madison' writing. She gives her heart and soul to her characters, Melanie and Ramon are her heart on the page. Melanie had some heart break in this book and in the first book but ladies believe me when I tell you that Madison has made up for it. Melanie's personality shine in this book and if you read the first one you will know that she is an exceptional friend and has a huge heart. She deserves what Ramon can give her and Ramon is deserving of her. A romance that eaves you wanting more, leave you with a light heart. Their story will bring a smile to your face as the tears roll down, your heart filled to capacity and fulfilled at the completeness of their story and love.
I was gifted a copy of “Little Moments” by the author in exchange for an honest review. This is no way changes my opinion of the book.
This is book 2 in the Second Chances series. I have not ready book 1, however, you do not need to have read the first book to enjoy “Little Moments”.
I love a good romance book, and “Little Moments” did not disappoint. You begin with Roman as a child, losing his mother in an apartment fire. As if that wasn’t devastating enough, he had already lost his father to cancer prior to the fire. He goes on to live with his aunt and uncle, who raise him and love him unconditionally; shaping him to be the man he is today. Roman’s aunt and uncle own a bakery that he helps out at after school each day, and that is when he first meets Melanie.
Melanie loves that little bakery, they make the best eclairs, and she is addicted. It does not hurt that there is a nice looking boy that works there as well. However, she is already in a relationship with Duke, so nothing progresses, yet.
Move ahead ten years. Roman is now a firefighter, and his aunt and uncle still own the bakery. Melanie is caring for her God-daughter, and decides to take a trip to that bakery to get her some cookies. As she is leaving the bakery, she literally runs into a sexy man in a FDNY t-shirt. She gets a little flustered and rushes off. But he would know those eyes anywhere.
Melanie is an ER nurse, and unfortunate circumstances put Roman within her reach. He is injured during a call, and becomes her patient. Is this fate pushing them together? Can they finally explore what they could not years ago?
Review of Little Moments (Second Chances #2) by Madison Street
Review done for Hooked on Books
4 ½ out of 5 stars
Melanie Stevens cannot seem to find the one: the perfect man that is. She has been burned a couple times but is still hoping to find her true love.
Melanie has followed her dreams and became a nurse. With her caring nature, it is the perfect job for her. When a horrific fire sends a gorgeous, injured firefighter to her floor, she can’t believe her eyes. She knows him from high school, over 10 years ago.
Roman Moretti has lost the two people who meant the world to him. He vowed to make them proud and became a firefighter. One day on the job, he sacrifices himself to save a kid from a burning building. That moment in time changed his life forever.
Roman has been in love with the beautiful blonde girl who came into his Aunt and Uncle’s bakery 10 years ago. He has never forgot her and always hoped she would come back into his life.
When Roman is recuperating in the hospital, he is completely caught off guard that one of his nurses is the girl of his dreams.
Melanie is afraid to get her heart broken again and Roman doesn’t believe he is worthy of Melanie’s love because of his injuries.
Thankfully they both find strength in each other.
I loved this story. I thought Melanie was a wonderful person with how she always looked out for everyone else. She gave up her first love because she knew he belonged with someone else. She has a heart of gold.
Roman was a true survivor. He followed his dreams after the loss of his parents and fought all through his tough recovery.
I was given a complimentary copy in exchanged for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Second Chances series, and should be read in that order. We first met Melanie in the first book, and for those that read it, at the time she wasn't my favorite. Fast forward to growing up, becoming an adult, college, and a career and I love her! Melanie makes the mistakes that we all do, put your heart too much out there, pick the wrong guy.. but deep down she really knows what she wants and what she doesn't. A chance meeting with Roman, and the past memories are brought back from high school. Roman grew up without his parents and was raised mostly by his aunt and uncle. After losing his Mother in a fire, Roman becomes a fireman himself. After a near fatal accident, he lands in the ICU with Melanie as his nurse. It's a hard thing though to swallow your pride and realize that you can't do everything alone and you may have to show more of your true self to someone in order to survive.
I really enjoyed this story. I found it to be even better than the first book and more on my wave length. If you remember the first book was very raw and at times painful to deal with due to the graphic nature of what Raya had to endure. I found this book to be sweet, emotional and a tender love story. I loved the medical aspect of the story, and I loved that I got my HEA. My only complaint... I wanted more from Melanie and Roman, but I feel like the author really finished off the story well giving you the HEA that fans longed for.
What would you do if you were given a second chance at love? Would you go all in and never look back or let the chance walked out the door? This is exactly what happens to Roman. He had the biggest crush on Melanie while in high school. But he always felt that she was out of his league. Plus she had a boyfriend. Roman has thought about her everyday since then. If he was only given a second chance……
Melanie is the perfect girl. She works as a nurse in the ICU, has an amazing ability to light up the room just by being in it. Although her love life is suffer because she is too dedicated to her job. But she is fine with that. She loves being able to spend time with her best friends, Duke and Raya. But Melanie doesn’t realize is that she has lots of male suitors.
As Melanie ventures to an old bakery that has her favorite desserts, she runs into this wall of a man…..what is it about him that has him consistently on her mind when she leaves? Roman can not believe his eyes when she is there. Once again, he is without words as she slips past him.
But fate has other things in store for Roman and Melanie. This time, Melanie will be the one fighting to make things right between them. Roman will have to come to terms with what has happened in his life. Will he be able to get past it or will it prevent him from his one true chance with Melanie? Will Melanie be able to push Roman to live again?
This story was about learning to see the good inside of someone, believing in yourself and allowing others to help you to the place you need to be at. This story was very touching to me. There were several times that I had to wipe tears from my eyes.
"A Touching and Sweet Story!" This is the kind of book that brings tears to your eyes!. The characters are amazing!. Roman looses his Mother in an apartment fire at the age of eleven. His Dad had already died of Cancer a little bit before. When you read this book you had better have a box of facial napkins handy. Romans Aunt and Uncle take Roman in. Six years later his Aunt and Uncle have helped him move on. Roman now works after school at his Aunt and Uncles Bakery. One day a beautiful young girl named Melanie comes to pick up an order. Roman is very attacked to her only he is still a shy young teenager. Ten years later Melanie is taking care of her Godchild and decides to visit the bakery again. Upon leaving she slams into a handsome man wearing a FDNY t-shirt. Melanie gets flustered and runs off before Roman can say any thing to her. Roman is now all grown up and is a sexy New York Firefighter. Melanie is now a Nurse at a hospital ER. After she bumps into Roman Melanie puts the encounter out of her mind. She starts seeing a Doctor she works with. After Malanie has been seeing Doctor Easton for a few months she finds out he has a Fiancee. Melanie transfers to a different hospital and now works in the burn unit. Roman gets hurt in an apartment fire saving a young child and becomes one of Melanie's patients. This story is so touching with suspense and Sweet Romance!. This is a must read book!
Little Moments is book two in the series. Book 1 is Little Things and it is an amazing read! Both of these stories have guys that you will fall in love with, but I do have to admit, Little Moments is my favorite of the two!
If you read the first book, you will remember Melanie, who was Duke's girlfriend before Raya came into his life. Melanie does stay friends with Duke and Raya and even becomes a godmother.
Roman ends up crashing into Melanie's life. Roman worked at a family bakery when he was a teenager, and this is how Roman and Melanie first meet. For Roman, it was love at first sight, even though he knew that she was taken, he kept his feelings for her a secret. 10 years later, Melanie is leaving the bakery and crashes into Roman and he cannot believe that it is her.
Melanie and Roman are brought together again after Roman rescues someone in a fire has left him badly injured. During his stay in the hospital, Melanie is one of his nurses and cares for him. Roman learns he may not be able to go back to his job as a firefighter and he becomes angry. Even though Melanie is trying to be there for Roman, he pushes her away. After he pushes her away, she tries to be strong and helps him transition into his new life after his injury.
Little Moments is a story about missed love, and never letting go of the love you want. I know I shouldn't have favorites, but Roman is my favorite. Sorry Duke!
4 stars This story was incredible. The characters are so relatable and loveable. I loved Melanie in Little Things and I am so happy for the way her story turned out. She is a caring person with a huge heart. I think her career choice suits her personality. She is a natural care-taker. She has not had the best luck relationship wise, and she doesn’t really ever put herself out there. She is still very close with Duke and Raya and is the godmother to their daughter. Roman has been hung up on Melanie for 10 years. But does he go after her? NO! He has always been a rather shy guy when it comes to girls. He doesn’t play the field. Their paths crossed occasionally over the years and he never got up the nerve to make his move. An accident leaves him in the ICU and who is his nurse? None other than Melanie! At first, he is filled with rage. He doesn’t want to come back into her life like this. He doesn’t want her taking care of him. But Melanie is determined to bring his mood around. They spend a lot of time together, learning about each other. A few friends and relatives decide to take it upon themselves to be matchmakers. These two were made for each other. There is a slow build up to declaring their love for each other. It is very sweet. She becomes Romans motivation to get back on his feet. She never makes him feel less than a man, or unworthy. She helps him every step of the way. Very excited to see where the next book leads!
This story was incredible.

Roman has always wanted to be a firefighter since his mother was killed in a fire. Roman's aunt and uncle took him in after every thing happened, a lot of the household chores but he doesn't mind. Roman also works at the bakery. Melanie loves enclaires and the Zeppieri Bakery makes the best and she decides that she is going to take Layla to the bakery for cookies. When she was leaving she runs into someone. Roman was injured in the line of duty, he was taken to the hospital where Melanie works. He got some bad news and he was taking it out on Melanie. Roman lost his father to cancer three years before loosing his mother. He has had a thing for Melanie. Melanie is in the ICU Burn Unit, her goddaughter is Layla Raya and Duke's daughter. Maggie is Roman's Aunt, she has been sick and she is finally better, she runs the Bakery with her husband Vinny. Took Roman in after his mother passed away. Vinny took Roman in after his sister passed away the bakery with Maggie.Gina is Melanie's friend and used to work with Melanie. Raya is Melanie's friend, Duke's wife and Layla's mother. Duke is working as a PI, Layla's father, he is an amazing father and Raya's husband. Easton has a thing for Melanie, surgeon. This book is amazing, it's very well written and the characters are very well developed. I truly couldn't help but feel very connected to the characters. This is one book that I know I will be able to read again. I can't wait to read more books by Madison Street.
I tell you what this author is very sneaky. She innocently starts this out with introducing you to Roman and a event that that happens when he is younger, pulling on your heart strings. Then you are with him when he is a little older and one of the other characters that will be prominent walks into his aunt and uncle's bakery-Melanie. He is enchanted by her but their time is not yet. Fast forward now Melanie is grown and works in a hospital and you are given more of a insight into her. All the while she is building you up with these two and by now you are stuck like glue to their story into their lives. Then she brings the hammer down and they are reunited because of Roman becoming really hurt due to his profession. By now it is like quicksand there is no escape you will follow them through this moment in time while all the while a beautiful relationship builds. The story is so wonderfully done you forget time and space enjoying every moment you are reading. At times you wonder will he ever heal and will she stay with him through it all. A different kind of suspense woven in this romance. It has the lasting power though to carry you along with these two through everything until the very end when she reminds you just what this title and the contents are really all about beautifully done in this novel. Little Moments (Second Chances Book 2) by Madison Street
5 Stars I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Can you remember that exact moment you fell in love? I can. She was wearing a light blue dress, her golden locks curving along her shoulder and I even felt the shock from when our fingers touched. Even though it was the happiest day of my life, she didn't know I existed.
If you had the chance to relive those moments, would you take them?
My time has finally come after ten years of wanting her. That split second, that precise moment will change her life forever.
We met Melanie in Little Moments when she was Duke's high school girlfriend. So I was really happy we got to see her story and how things turned out for her. Roman has always wanted Melanie since he first laid eyes on her ten years ago. Madison did a good job keeping me on my toes with this story. The relationship between Melanie and Roman is not instantaneous and slowly builds up thru out the book. A few time Roman seemed like he was jerk towards but Melanie but it was kind of funny to see her put him in his place a few times. Of course we see Raya and Duke make appearances as well which I really enjoyed seeing. All in all this was a wonderful story of long lasting friendships and finding that special one when you were least expecting it.
Melanie and Roman have known each other since high school. Romans aunt and uncle owned a bakery and Roman use to work there. Melanie had a sweet tooth. Her favorite dessert was the amazing éclairs at Roman’s aunt and uncle’s bakery. Roman had always felt something when she was around.
10 years have passed and Roman is a NYC firefighter and Melanie is a nurse at the hospital. Their paths cross one day when Roman was visiting his aunt on her birthday and Melanie had taken her goddaughter to the bakery for a cookie, éclairs and strawberry cheesecake both of which were Melanie’s favorites. On the way leaving Melanie bumps into Roman and the connection sparks. But they go their separate ways.
Roman ends up in a horrible accident while working on a fire and ends up in the hospital and Melanie is his nurse. Things are hard for Roman and her being there are even harder.
This book was different then Little Things but it was nice to see where the characters are now with a little glimpse in each of their lives. I really liked this book and devoured it in one sitting. Great job Madison can’t wait to see what’s next.

~I was given an ARC by the author for a honest review~
This book was exactly what I needed to read. It keeps your attention from beginning to end. It has the perfect amount of sweet mixed in with some attitude. Roman and Melanie are a delight to read, you won't regret it at all. This book will help you appreciate all the little moments that sometimes get passed by. Melanie first met Roman while they were in high school. She would come into his aunt's bakery. He has carried a crush for her ever since. He is determined to talk to her and tell her his feelings. It was as if fate stepped in and made it happen. After dealing with a jerk of a doctor, Melanie is placed in the ICU/burn unit. Roman is placed in her area after a call ends up with him burned and badly injured. He is in a bad place mentally but Melanie is able to push him to be better. These two are the sweetest couple. I fell in love instantly. I will warn you that you definitely need tissues for the first few chapters, it is heartbreaking. Madison knows how to tell a story and make you feel everything the character are feeling. This is a book you want to read when you are sitting on a beach relaxing or just in the mood for something sweet.
Little Moments is book two is the Second Chances series. I really enjoyed the first one Little Things and we get to meet Melanie in it but I think that you will be ok reading this one if you haven't read the first one. Little Moments is Melanie and Roman's story. We get the past and the present from both Roman and Melanie's POV.
This story pulled me right in. The beginning starts with Roman as a kids and we get to see some things that happen to him that will shape his life. As an adult, Roman is a super sexy fireman with a big heart. Throughout their lives Roman and Melanie's paths have crossed on and off at the bakery that Roman's Aunt owns.
Melanie has grown up a lot in this book. She is a nurse. After a bad hook up with one of the doctors, she switches hospitals. Roman is hurt on the job and ends up being a patient of Melanie's. There are definitely sparks between them. Roman is a big strong man and he's not used to needing people to care for him, being in the hospital is not how hr wanted Melanie to see him. There spark may be to strong for Roman to fight.
This is a good read and again Madison Street threw in a unexpected twist.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for a good love story and this one delivered! The author did a great job hooking you right from the beginning. I loved how it began with Roman as a a child and experiencing his tragedy. You get to know him a little and what he went through and then learn more about him in his teen years where we are then introduced to Melanie. Then we learn more about her and eventually we get to their developing relationship. By the time we got to that, I was already invested in both characters individually. It was ingenious character development! I loved it.
A author who writes in such a way that has me experiencing a range of emotions is one I will always recommend over and over. This book had me doing just that. I was happy, sad, rejoicing, all in one book. I really want to go into details about the things I loved most about the story specifically but I do not want to spoil it for anyone. Just read it and you will see for yourself. If you love a good heart warming love story, this is for you.
I absolutely loved this story. I was so caught up in the beginning that I was crying before the end of the third chapter. I was so sucked in and attached to Roman that his life experiences affected my in such I way that I was taken off guard. It's not often that I get that emotional at the beginning of a book. It takes true talent on the author's behave to evoke.
Have you ever thought about how the one person you were meant to spend your life with comes into your life. Sometimes fate has to intervene more than once for you to realize your destiny. Sometimes the circumstances aren't the best. but love can conquer all. This story gives you hope. Even after everything that Roman has been through, he has been able to find his soul mate in Melanie. After all the life altering events, he knows that there is someone there that will support him every step of the way.
I ended this book with a contented sigh and a smile on my face. This author has become one of my automatic one-click authors. I look forward to reading more in this series.
This book is written in alternating POV and does not contain a cliffhanger.
This is the sweet story of Melanie and Roman. They met as teenagers at his aunt's bakery. Roman was instantly drawn in by her, but she had a boyfriend at the time. Years later their paths cross once again. Roman hasn't led the easiest of lives, but is proud of his job as a firefighter in NYC. One day Melanie is coming out of the bakery and slams right into him. They quickly part ways, but both are left thinking of the other.
Little did they know that wasn't the last time the would run into each other. When they meet again it would be under very different circumstances. She isn't so quick to let him go this time. With help from Roman's aunt and uncle they are brought together, but this time sparks fly.
I loved this book. Madison has a way of drawing you into the story. I won't say any more about it since I don't want to give anything away. If you love a good romance with characters you root for the entire way, pick up Little Moments.
Sometimes love strikes again when you least expect it. For fireman Roman she was the teenager who visited his aunt and uncle bakery after school but she had a boyfriend so he let her go.

He is cold to her at the beginning fearing that his old feelings will return and that she deserved someone better who is paralyzed due to spinal trauma and scarred from burns. But slowly she breaks down his walls as they get to know each other.
They get closer when he is release from the hospital and starts therapy. As they struggle with their feelings along the way and minor obstacles along the way, they fall deeper in love. Will they be able to break their boundaries and allow each other in their lives?
