Rate this book
"A must-read for every couple navigating one of life’s most sensitive topics."
—Morgan Housel, two-time bestselling author, The Psychology of Money and Same as Ever

Money talks. Are you listening?

Your relationship with money begins long before you find a partner, and it isn’t quick to change just because you love someone. Your money behaviours reflect your identities, values, and deepest feelings. So, you’ll need more than budgets and bank accounts to navigate them together.

In Money Together, Heather and Douglas Boneparth – financial gurus and married couple – help couples in every era of their lives approach money with greater fairness, sustainability, respect, and love. They offer short stories from their own lives, as well as those from other couples whose experiences are as raw and real as they get. With help from leading financial experts, couples therapists, psychologists, and more, they offer a fresh, human perspective on a taboo topic that leaves too much unsaid.

Money Together is more than a money guide – it’s a movement for creating powerful relationships with both partners at the table.

This book is an absolute must-read — whether you’re single, dating, married, or divorced. I absolutely loved the storytelling, the honesty, and the wisdom woven throughout these pages. Money Together is such an essential book for anyone’s library because it goes far beyond budgets and spreadsheets — it’s about how we see ourselves, our partners, and the ways our emotions and values shape our financial lives.

Heather and Doug do an incredible job of breaking down what can feel like a taboo topic with empathy, humor, and so much heart. Their personal stories, combined with real-life examples from other couples, make this book deeply relatable and easy to digest. I learned so much — not just about money, but about communication, respect, and partnership. This isn’t just a financial guide — it’s a relationship book, a mirror, and a roadmap for anyone who wants to build healthier connections (with themselves and with others) through the lens of money. I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know.

Heather is absolutely brilliant. Her storytelling is engaging, her topics are thought-provoking, and her real-world examples bring her expertise to life. It’s clear she took the time to meet with real people and deeply understand their experiences before writing this book—and it shows on every page. A phenomenal read that’s not only insightful but also filled with lessons I can practically apply in everyday life.

This book provides real life examples on how to consider money issues TOGETHER. Loved the thought and effort put into helping the reader see themselves in the stories so that they could apply the knowledge and questions and experience to their own lives. And it comes with discussion questions so there’s no prep needed to sit down and start having real money conversations with your partner!

I thought this was informative- not so much on how to do things, but more of what to consider and talk with your partner about with stories of other folks who did or did not do those things and how it unfolded and their reflections. interesting concept, didn't love the structure of the writing personally, but it could work better for other brains.

I picked up Money Together not really knowing what to expect, and it turned out to be such a refreshing and insightful read. Talking about money in relationships can feel like one of the hardest, heaviest topics — but Heather and Doug Boneparth manage to make it approachable, relatable, and surprisingly enjoyable. They take something that’s often complicated and emotionally charged and break it down into clear, actionable steps that genuinely work in real life.

What I appreciated most is how grounded and practical their advice feels. It’s not theory or fluff — it’s filled with tools you can actually start using right away. My partner and I have already implemented a few of their ideas, and it’s changed the way we communicate about money for the better. Even though the subject matter is serious, the writing is light and easy to follow, making it a quick yet meaningful read.

I’ve already recommended Money Together to several friends because it’s one of those rare books that can truly make a difference — not just in your finances, but in your relationship overall. Thoughtful, empowering, and genuinely useful.

I have reached a point where I genuinely do not think we need any more general personal finance books, and this one is a clear example of why.

Nothing in this book feels new. Every concept it covers, such as budgeting, saving, investing, and mindset, has already been discussed, in depth and often more clearly, in countless other personal finance titles. That does not make the content wrong or unimportant, but it is not original. If you have read even a few money books before, you will probably find yourself thinking, “I have heard all of this already.”

What makes it more frustrating is that the book never really justifies its own existence. With some recent personal finance books, you can at least see the angle: a specific audience, a unique framework, a fresh storytelling style, or a strong focus on behavior. Here, it is hard to tell what the distinctive point is supposed to be. The topics are relevant and, in theory, useful, but they are presented in such a familiar and overused way that the whole thing feels redundant.

If this is your very first personal finance book, you might still get value from it simply because the basics are inherently helpful. But for anyone who has already read a few titles in the genre, there is nothing here that you could not have learned elsewhere, often in a more compelling or insightful way. In that sense, this book does not add much to the larger conversation about money and never really proves that it needed to be written.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It made me really dive in and think about the why's behind my feelings with money. Also, it's such an engaging read that with great client stories and personal examples that keep each chapter interesting.

My favorite section had to be Contributions. As a mother who stepped back from her full time career to raise my children, manage my home, and work part time when it fit with out family's needs, I have sometimes felt conflicted about where I landed as a provider. This section was so validating and helped me to see the value that I add to my family.

This book has thoughtful, relevant questions at the end of each section that really help you consider your relationship with money, the baggage you have from earlier in your life, and more.

This book is thoughtful, easy to read, and absolutely beneficial to any marriage.

I don’t normally read books like this but figured as someone who is largely “hands off” about my family’s finances couldn’t hurt to gain some new insight. Heather’s writing is approachable, engaging and just the right amount of funny which kept me interested even when chapters didn’t necessarily apply to me. She makes this monster of a topic feel approachable without dumbing anything down, and her personal stories, “real life couples” and explanations kept me interested in each stage. Loved the questions at the end of every part, really insightful things to ask yourself and your partner !! Regardless of where you are in your personal/ family finance journey, I think everyone can take away something new from this book.

Wonderful book - a pleasure to read and I would encourage all couples to check it out. Heather and her husband, Doug, interviewed dozens of couples and combined that with their own well-earned money experiences and professional expertise to create a book that will be helpful for most. Want to have a better relationship around money with your spouse? Read this book.

Money Together drew me in from the first page. It’s cathartic, empowering, and beautifully written—equal parts heartfelt and practical. I laughed, I cried (yes, even needed Kleenex on the plane), and found myself reflecting on my own relationship with money and partnership. Heather and Doug capture the emotional side of finances with such honesty and warmth. A must-read.

If you are in a relationship, you’ve talked about money. You’ve fought about money. You’ve earned money. You’ve lost money. But in your relationship, have you talked about your individual relationships with money? And how to come together as a money team?

This book gives you the tools to unlock that dialogue, one that is critical to your long term happiness, both financially and romantically.

This book should be required reading for modern marriages. Money is always a major component of any marriage and Heather & Douglas do an amazing job storytelling and navigating this complex topic.

Aside from their book, I also highly suggest their substack. I've followed that for a long time and so it's no surprise I also loved this book!

As a LMFT and Financial Therapist who works with couples, this is what I recommend to all of my couples. It is singlehandedly one of the most comprehensive books about couples and money ever written.

This also makes a GREAT gift for any parent who has adult kids getting married or are early in their marriage.

Loved that this book was written by a husband and wife and from the voice of the wife. It resonated with me because it focuses on communication and teamwork, not just numbers
