The Unpublished Story #1

Breathing should be easy.

So why is it that with one look… I’m gasping for air.

I never believed in love at first sight or any of that other mushy crap, especially when this is supposed to be the year of me.

So tell that to my racing heart.

The Unpublished Story Duet is a spicy contemporary menage duet with a prequel novella, revolving around the exploration of sexual freedom. Book One does not have an HEA as the story continues in Book Two. These stories are not intended for readers under 18yrs and contain many content warnings, which can be found in the beginning of the books and on my website.

A Work In Progress Is Better Than No Progress At All

I have been patiently (ummm, sort of lol) waiting for this ever since we got that magnificent tease from the prequel. I’m so happy to say that I was NOT disappointed at all! This was on the shorter side, but it didn’t feel that way. There was so much emotion packed into this story, and my heart hurt so much for Lola, yet that made her strength & bravery stand out that much more. I related to her on so many levels, good & bad ones. Definitely check the TWs, especially if you’ve experienced DV in the past. I wasn’t expecting it to trigger me (usually it doesn’t), but this was harder to get through for some reason. I still loved it though, and it was so worth pushing through. Especially since I adored the chemistry between Lola & Beckett, and the spice was 🔥 I can’t wait for part 2! I NEED to see what happens ❤️

Warning, this one can be a hard read for those with past relationship drama, so be aware but know that it is handled carefully and respectfully.

We get to know Beckett and Lola as they navigate their friendship and where it might go. This book is fun, it's witty at times, but also has so much heart. Marina is the friend we all need. Lola's story comes into the light, it's not easy for her to tell, but she shows how brave she is.

There is heat, so if you like that, you won't be disappointed. The characters are relatable, many will see themselves in the characters. The epilogue gives us some new insight what will be coming with Book 2, I am here for it!

Work in Progress (Book 1) by Georgia Rayne is a romantic novel. Wow! Okay that’s my review. I am kidding but it’s the truth! This book had so much emotion flowing through it you could almost feel it. Let me say check your triggers because this one got to me in ways I never expected. I feel like so many woman can relate to this story and to Lola. I know it brought up some things for me. Beckett and Lola are so good for each other and I loved their spicy chemistry. The story is just well written and I am ready for part 2 already. Great job Georgia Rayne!

Work In Progress is book one in The Unpublished Story duet by Georgia Rayne.

💜 FMC healing
💜 shared interests
💜 finding oneself
💜 best friends
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

Lola can’t stop thinking about him, Beckett. She keeps finding herself thinking about how handsome he is and how she would like to get to know him better. But with everything from her past, is she ready for that? Beckett can’t focus on his writing and that’s really a problem with his deadlines coming up. But, she’s so beautiful and he can’t wait to see if she would like to even go out to dinner with him. Can these two hit it off? Will they get past their daydreams to even go out for dinner?

This was a fun short story. I love how each of the characters have decided to fully be themselves. Beckett also is gentle with Lola when she needs that as she gets caught up in her thoughts. The chemistry between the two is off the charts. I can’t wait to read the next book as this book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger.

And here we are, folks, diving headfirst into the literary world once again! If you've had the pleasure of delving into the prequel, 'Writer’s Block,' then you know exactly what kind of wild ride we're in for with 'Work in Progress'.
Georgia Rayne, the mysterious alter ego of the incomparable G.R. Loreweaver, has once again delivered a tantalizing tale filled with her signature blend of humor and steam. And let me tell you, I am here for it! Rayne/Loreweaver has this uncanny ability to whip up kinky, smutty fantasies without ever crossing into vulgarity territory. It's a delicate balance, and she nails it every damn time.

Our protagonist, Lola Barkley, has endured her fair share of trials and tribulations, thanks to a sadistic marriage that would make even the devil himself shudder. But fear not, dear readers, for Lola's journey to break free from her past is anything but a solitary one. With her trusty sidekick, Marina, by her side, and the encounter with the enigmatic Beckett Langford, things are bound to get interesting.

In typical Loreweaver fashion, 'Work in Progress' serves up a cast of characters that are as complex as they are entertaining. From quirky writers to resilient survivors, each personality leaps off the page with an energy that's impossible to ignore. And let's not forget about those cliffhangers – Loreweaver knows just how to leave us hanging on the edge of our seats, desperate for more.

So, here's to the next installment of this contemporary romance rollercoaster. I, for one, cannot wait to see where Rayne/Loreweaver takes us next!

Oh. My. Goodness!!!!! I KNEW from the prequel that this was going to be good. But I didn't anticipate it being THIS good. I would say I'm impressed, but honestly, G.R. Loreweaver puts out some amazing books, so I'm not all that surprised that this was as good as the rest of her books. I loved everything about this book. It flows so well and has everything I hoped it would.

In the prequel, we meet Beckett, who is a writer, and his best friend who introduces him to the love interest, Lola. In this book, we meet Lola, a "plus-sized" book nerd with a lot of baggage. But she's learning to love herself and put her needs first after being in a DA relationship for the past 2 years. I love her. Yes, she still struggles, but she's such a strong FMC. She proves that she deserves to be loved no matter what her ex and her family say. Beckett gives me very nerdy hero type vibes. His determination to make Lola feel cherished and like the Queen she is makes him even better.

I can't wait for the second part of this duet. I'm excited to see what their happy ending entails. This contemporary romance is a must-read for everyone!!

This could be a hard read to some so pls check the TW!

We got to know Beckett and Lola a lot more in this one. I loved how they were both obsessing over each other for a while. Even though it took them a minute to actually talk, hang out and stuff the minute they got comfortable around one another it was like magic. The way they got along so well and once their relationship moved into something more showed how good they are together.

I liked how even though their relationship just started they felt comfortable and safe enough with each other. They opened up about their past and the H3ll they went through and also said some secrets they didn't want anyone finding out. I found it amazing how fast they developed that trust especially considering everything Lola has been through.

Mariana continues to be amazing as always. She's the type of friend that will always be there for you no matter what. She's just amazing and I hope she gets her happily ever after. I loveeee how she's been rooting for Beckett and Lola too.

THAT ENDING OMG. I need the next book pls😭. I need more on that and I really wany to know how their story is gonna come together.

Work in Progress in the first book in the duology The Unpublished Story by Georgia Rayne. We first met these characters in her prequel novella, Writer's Block. It isn't necessary to read that first, but it is a quick read and gives us lots of the back story of Beckett. This book explores several mature themes, so if you have triggers, please make sure you check the trigger warnings before continuing.

In this story, we explore relationship of Beckett and Lola. They start out as friends but end up as so much more. As they navigate the growing attraction between them, they reach a new level of understanding between them and explore the sexual freedom that they both desire. Their connection is strong, and they both seem to know exactly what the other needs.

This is a quick and spicy read that instantly endears you to this couple. I love the introduction of Cade in the end and can't wait to see how he blends into this unique relationship. I devoured this book in one sitting and can't wait for more!

Strengthening and Sexy

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steam: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

In this first book of the Duology we follow Lola as she was a victim of domestic abuse before she got free of the situation and grew to become a beautiful woman who learned to take care of herself.

We also know Beckett who absolutely adores Lola and is a secret author whom Lola loves reading his books. She also likes him but doesn't know he likes her back.

They of course go through ups and downs in their relationship as Lola comes to terms that someone actually loves her for her, and doesn't want to hurt her. Meanwhile Beckett struggles to write words for his characters but it all works out for them at least until they can find their 3rd and final piece to their thruple, their King.

Be warned of your triggers, but know this is a story of domestic abuse however it is a story about strength and growth as well. Georgia Rayne's has told an absolutely amazing truth with this book and I can't wait to read book 2!

Ah, the irresistible magic of a well-told story. If Writer’s Block left us craving more, Work in Progress by Georgia Rayne—the delightfully enigmatic alter ego of G.R. Loreweaver—delivers exactly what we hoped for and then some: razor-sharp storytelling, explosive chemistry, and that flawless balance between provocative and sophisticated.

Our heroine, Lola Barkley, has endured a marriage so twisted it could make Lucifer himself flinch. But Lola isn’t one to stay trapped in the dark. With her fierce and ever-loyal sidekick, Marina, and a fateful encounter with the enigmatic Beckett Langford, her story takes a turn that is as seductive as it is unexpected.

Once again, Loreweaver gifts us with a cast of vibrant, unforgettable characters, each with their own spark, depth, and irresistible energy. And, of course, the signature cliffhangers—just when you think you can breathe, she leaves you hanging, desperately needing the next chapter.

So, here’s to another intoxicating installment. If there’s one thing we know about Rayne/Loreweaver, it’s that the best is always yet to come.

Work in Progress is the first book in The Unpublished Story Duology. There is a prequel to this duo, and I highly recommend reading it before reading Work in Progress.

Having read the prequel to this series before reading Work In Progress, I got a quick teaser introduction to Beckett and Lola, and I couldn't wait to see how their story was going to play out. Hot, Humorous and full of Heart is the answer to how it plays out. The reader is taken on a fabulously written exploration of new beginnings, friendship and self awareness. Once again I loved the main characters witty inner dialogs, more than once I found myself actually laughing or responding to them out loud. In the prequel we got to know Beckett and his quirkiness, in Work in Progress we get to know Lola, and how truly strong she is.

This is a quick read, I read it in one sitting, that has some triggers, a decent amount of spice and a lot of laughs. I highly recommend it to any and all romance readers.

Excellent Read

I love the start of Lola and Beckett’s story. They're perfect for each other.
Lola is recovering from an abusive relationship and is learning to trust again. She is the definition of a survivor.
Beckett has been admiring Lola from afar, and he's finally taking the steps to get to know her. They are both awkward and say things at times without thinking. You know how it is when you really like someone? You just blurt out what's on your mind, then want to hide under a rock. This happens to Beckett and Lola a lot.
I love some of their internal conversations. They are witty, and some are funny.
Please heed the TW because Lola's story is not for the faint of heart.
I look forward to the next book to see what happens with Lola and if a King enters the scene.

This was a short, spicy book. Which was about a woman who fell in love with a man that was gentle, adoring, and found her curves sexy. Lola with the help of her best girlfriend, left her abusive, narcissistic husband, and everything that she owned in the home that they shared. Like all of us that have found indie books in our lives, found a smutty book by the author, Becky Lovegood. The book is in Dual PoV, then we have the mmc Beckett who has fallen hard for Lola, and wants to be with her. The book is in a cliffhanger, which makes you want to read the next book in the duet. There are driver warnings which are in a disclaimer in the beginning of the book by the author.
I have received a complimentary ARC of the book for a fair and honest review.

This is Beckett and Lola's story and this is a great introduction to them! Beckett is a smutty romance writer, but he writes with a pen name so very, very few people know. He's also been attracted to Lola since the day that he first saw her. Lola is escaping a volatile, abusive marriage, but she's at a point where she can accept attention from Beckett. They are spicy, sweet and sometimes shocking. Make sure that you read the TWs if there are things (especially DV) that will bother you.

These two are so sweet and I love how they just seem to click. I love how clued in Beckett is from the beginning to what's going with Lola. I have a feeling that's going to come in handy as they move forward.

Please start by stopping by that one page with the two words at the top!

I am also wondering if I can claim workers comp for an WFH keyboard incident? Asking for a friend…. Never mind, Beckett answered it for me.

I definitely want to start out by saying I loved how damn awkward this story was. I think that helped everything to be more, I can’t even think of a word, maybe ridiculously adorable? Beckett is soft and sweet with Lola. Which is a lot more healing than finding someone who thinks they can just get what they want since you’re in a vulnerable state of mind.

This book definitely made me giggle and blush. I’m for sure WIPPED. I am looking forward to reading the next one!

I'M LOVING THIS WiP!
I devoured this book! From the moment I started reading, I was unable to tear myself away. The characters are imbued with such raw emotion that they pull you in, holding you spellbound until the very last page, and leaving you eagerly anticipating what comes next. Georgia Rayne's storytelling is nothing short of captivating, as she navigates the narrative with a delicate touch and a profound respect for the trauma experienced by the queen of this tale. While there was a moment of impending shock, the story concludes with a sense of tantalizing incompleteness that only serves to heighten the anticipation for the finale. This series is an absolute must-add to your to-be-read list.

Lola is a strong survivor that still deals with the aftermath of what she went through. Beckett helps show her you can be strong and cared for at the same time.
Though this story is quick it packs a punch. There's trauma, spice, humor, romance and suspense. It's a ride from start to finish. Being the first part of a duology there is a slight cliffhanger at the end. But even that is full of warring emotions.
The only downside is some of the dialog seemed a little awkward and forced.
I can't wait to see how Lola handles the last battle for her freedom and how our new character comes into the fold.

For a novella, this was such a fun and spicy read!

Very light-hearted with two HILARIOUS main characters. I loved Lola's and Beckett's banters and connection right from the start! Their "no filter" personality really made for some of the funniest interactions I've read. I loved that it felt longer than a novella just with the storyline itself. The side characters including Beckett's Aunt Fiona were so relatable and I loved that! The spice was a 3/5, so good! Especially Mr. Beckett! The cliffhanger was the WORST, but I will definitely be reading the next book in this series to see what else happens next!

Picking up with characters we have met previously, this book dives right into all the everything.

Beckett is trying to finish his novel while Lola is trying to put her past behind her. Maybe together they can do both.

Georgia Rayne is an utter queen. This book deals with some very heavy topics in such a respectful and hopeful way. I do not want to spoil plot as it takes away from the story, but very much recommend that you check the trigger warnings, as this book does not pull any punches. It is raw, and dark and I could not put into words how perfect the story being told is. Loved it so much and was amazing to read. Cannot wait for the next part!

I enjoyed this book and the idea of it very much.

I think some things could've been improved, but the story was interesting.

However, this is not why it took me so long to finish it. And I regret how long it took me because the book isn't even very long. I just had other books ahead of this one that took my attention away and that I had promised reviews for. SO this happened to fall behind on that list, sadly.

But I love these two and the mystery guy at the end. I cannot wait to pick up the next book! Also, I love books that involve modern relationships that are healthy and varied and this is one of them.

This is a short, well-written, and fast-paced read, so be sure to check the trigger warnings.

The story begins with a bang!

Lola has escaped an abusive marriage and is currently living with her friend. She finds herself attracted to Beckett, a writer who is determined to have his queen— and Lola is definitely his queen.

I love the awkward, adorable, and at times completely hysterical interactions between Beckett and Lola. Their sweet and passionate chemistry drew me in right from the start.

This is an excellently crafted read, featuring a touch of past darkness and pain, along with sweet and delectable men and a woman fighting to heal. It's definitely a must-read!

After reading Writer’s Block, Work in Progress follows on so smoothly. And this story nearly broke my heart. The book opens with Lola’s story of abuse – abuse that was so severe but she was able to escape. Trigger warnings be heeded. Lola’s story of recovery is raw, but there is a Knight coming to save her…Beckett! Beckett is so amazing, so thoughtful, caring, loving and adventurous (read kinky)! He takes care of her and this is what you need to know. For more, go read it! For a novella, this one hit hard, but doesn’t leave you down, exactly the opposite.

This is a fantastic beginning that will have you feeling all the emotions. There are DV scenes, and a lot of focus on Lola's recovery, that really tugged at my heartstrings. There are also a lot humor and sweetness on the relationship between Lola and Beckett. It's a friend's to lovers romance, although Beckett has had a thing for Lola since he first met her and Lola is a fan of Beckett's novels without knowing they're his. My favorite thing about the story is how believable the characters and their relationship feel. I'm excited to read the continuation.

Powerful and romantic

I love Beckett and Lola and I love their story so far. It is nice to read a story where the characters could be your best friends. They are just so relatable and down to earth. The trauma that Lola has is written with such care and attention as well. I could empathize with her trauma without being traumatized by it. The spicy time is hot, hot, hot! Beckett and Lola’s chemistry is off the charts. I cannot wait until the next book and the King arrives!

I read through this book in 4 hours. I really loved it. Lola is taking back her life after escaping an abusive relationship. Beckett is a writer who has an attraction to Lola, and they start a relationship. Beckett does not only want a queen to love but a king as well. This book also ends on a cliffhanger. I called out no when i realized i have hit the end of it. I can't wait for the next one.

The Queen and Knight.

When reading Work in Progress, its hard to believe that Georgia Raine is a baby author. The characters she creates are so real and human, its hard to believe they are make believe.
WIP is the beginning of Lola and Beckett's story and it is full of so many feels. You laugh, you cry, and you need a cold shower at times.
After escaping an abusive relationship, Lola is determined to get back on her feet, and becoming the victor instead of the victim.
Beckett has been in love with Lola since the day he set eyes on her. Helping her get her life back is what he is determined to do. But Beckett has his own secrets and they can both end things before they can truly begin.
These two complete each other, but there is still a piece missing.
Being one of the Queens of the cliffy, Georgia Raine leaves us begging for more in the best way possible.

This was a short, but spicy and sweet book!
It starts off a bit heavy, with Lola recounting her horrible abusive marriage. But swiftly introduces Beckett - the man pining after her. Allowing her to feel love for and control over her body again.

I did not read the prequel yet, and still enjoyed this book A LOT. I am excited to see where this relationship goes … with that last chapter of Cade in the mix… hot and steamy is what I am anticipating!

All the feels!!! Oh my - Lola and Beckett's beginning is awe inspiring. Lola suffered through what no one should have to only to come out the other side and fight to have a life again....like a Queen. Beckett becomes her knight in shining armor in a beautifully told beginning to their story. But, there is still something missing. What a cliffhanger, Georgia!!! Check your triggers, but this story is oh so worth the read!!

This is my first read of a story by Georgia Rayne and wow the opening is incredibly dark. The story and the FMC, Lola, take a beautiful turn towards the light and there is nothing like the emotions this reader felt following this woman’s journey to reclaim her life after the utter darkness. Oooh and Becket is everything she needs. This story is part of a Duology, it ends on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to see how it ends in the book: “The Completed Manuscript.”

This book was really good. After the prequel, I was so excited to read more about Beckett, and I was not disappointed. I loved Beckett and Lola. They had really great chemistry together. And I loved how they were able to get so comfortable with each other so fast. It does end on kind of a cliffhanger, but the epilogue gives us insight into the next book, which I can’t wait for! Be sure to check your TW before reading.
