“[A] heartfelt, family-driven series.”—Library Journal

After a hot hook-up on New Year’s Eve, Crystal Donovan plans to avoid Jamie Westcott, which could be difficult, given the size of Ribbon Ridge. But she’s only there a few days doing research on the town’s history then it’s back to her glam life in LA. When his family holds the key to unraveling a century-old mystery she has to seek him out—and the sparks are still flying.

Jamie Westcott works his ass off to repay his college loans, which doesn’t leave much time for other commitments. Crystal’s a perfect she’s fun and sexy and, best of all, they have little in common and she lives somewhere else. Only, the more time they spend together the closer they get, despite their intent to keep things casual.

When everyone learns Crystal sold a screenplay exposing the dark secrets of Ribbon Ridge—and Jamie’s family—she becomes the town pariah. Jamie won’t leave and Crystal can’t stay—can love show them another way?

The final book in the series & whilst it’s easily red on its own there is the conclusion to the mystery surrounding the house that once stood in part of the Westcott’s vineyard. I loved the chemistry between Jamie & Crystal, both didn’t want any commitment but the more time they spent together the more they fell for each other. I loved their journey to a HEA. The added bonus in this book was Dorinda’s story & the shocking revelations that were uncovered & how everyone reacted to them & the fact that Crystal wanted to dramatize the story. A very well written engrossing Read, I’ve loved this series & will be sad to leave Ribbon Ridge

THIS LOVE (aka SO IN LOVE) is the 10th instalment in Darcy Burke’s contemporary, adult RIBBON RIDGE erotic, romance series focusing on the Westcott brothers of Ribbon Ridge. This is twenty seven year old, economics graduate and vintner Jamie Westcott, and thirty two year old, PA/ budding screen writer Crystal Donovan’s story line. THIS LOVE was originally part of the LOVE ON THE VINE series, which is a spin off from Burke’s Ribbon Ridge series. We were first introduced to Jamie and his brothers (Cameron and Luke) in You’re Still the One (Ribbon Ridge #6). You do not have to read the original series to follow the premise of SO IN LOVE but I recommend reading You’re Still the One for some backstory about the brothers and their new winery business.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jamie and Crystal) THIS LOVE follows the building relationship between vintner Jamie Westcott, and PA Crystal Donovan-a relationship that began with a New Year’s Eve one-night stand, and Crystal’s reluctance to get involved with a man five years her junior. Ribbon Ridge is a small town where everyone is connected through family or friendship, and Crystal’s connections to Ribbon Ridge place our heroine on the committee researching the historical significance of the small town she has yet to call home. While Jamie Westcott intends to pursue Crystal Donovan for something more than a one-night stand, Crystal uncovers some disturbing history that places Jamie’s family in the middle of a controversial era in the settling of Ribbon Ridge. What ensues is the growing love between Crystal and Jamie, and the fall out as more of Jamie’s family history comes to light.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Luke and Kelsey (So Right #2), and Cameron and his wife Brooke (So Good #1), both Jamie and Crystal’s parents and siblings, Crystal’s best friend Alaina Pierce (The Idea of You /Ribbon Ridge #4), as well as a large number of the Archer clan from the original Ribbon Ridge Series.

The relationship between Crystal and Jamie is one of immediate attraction but Crystal struggles with the five-year age difference, as well as the possibility of a long-distance relationship that is rarely successful. Jamie’s personal life is shrouded in rejection and loss; Crystal struggles with memories from the past, and a history she is reluctant to reveal. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and passionate.

THIS LOVE is a timely, story of controversy that somewhat mirrors the political and volatile unrest in today’s American society. While our heroine uncovers a dark and violent past in Ribbon Ridge’s history, the connections to our story line hero are personal and potentially embarrassing to the people he loves. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are spirited and encouraging; the romance is challenging and intense. THIS LOVE is a revealing and surprising conclusion to Darcy Burke’s LOVE ON THE VINE /RIBBON RIDGE series.

On New Year’s Eve, Crystal and Jamie, both still single, find themselves spending the evening together in an unexpected twist of fate. Their connection ignites into a mind-blowing, passionate encounter. However, Crystal, a Los Angeles resident, has no intention of pursuing anything further and plans to avoid Jamie altogether during her brief visits to Ribbon Ridge.

Jamie Westcott, on the other hand, is eager to see Crystal again, but she’s determined to keep her distance. Fate intervenes when a century-old mystery tied to Jamie’s family forces Crystal to seek him out. Their reunion reignites the undeniable sparks between them. They agree to keep things casual, but as they delve deeper into the project unraveling Jamie’s family history, their emotional connection grows stronger.

Their relationship is charged with immediate attraction, yet fraught with personal hurdles. Crystal grapples with their five-year age difference and the daunting challenge of sustaining a long-distance relationship. Jamie carries the weight of rejection and loss, while Crystal harbors painful memories she’s reluctant to confront. Their intimate moments are raw, seductive, and passionate, and even though they are very different people they compliment each other and seemed to be a perfect pairing.

I totally understood how the characters felt about what was being uncovered from the past. The story resonated deeply, especially the uncovering of dark family secrets, violent past actions, and disturbing truths that cast a shadow over Jamie's relatives and Ribbon Ridge’s history. It felt authentic, highlighting Jamie’s mature acceptance that history cannot be altered to fit a preferred narrative—it simply is what it is.

Darcy Burke masterfully balances the somber echoes of the past with the complex emotions and controversies faced by the characters. The intertwining of historical revelations with Crystal and Jamie’s heartfelt journey was both unexpected and profoundly moving.

As this series comes to a close, Burke delivers a poignant, satisfying conclusion that honors the wonderful community of Ribbon Ridge—characters who have become like cherished friends. It’s a heartfelt farewell to a series that brilliantly captured the intricacies of love, history, and personal growth.

This Love by Darcy Burke
Ribbon Ridge #10

Great conclusion to a wonderful series ~ I haven’t read all of the book but have enjoyed the last four that came my way.

What I liked:
* The chemistry between the main characters and their willingness to go with the flow without needing to have a forever commitment at the very beginning
* The pool game on New Year’s Even and why the cue named “The Humiliator” was renamed Hugh
* The warm family, friends, and small-town vibe
* Crystal Donovan: self-made woman, wealthy, personal assistant to movie star, outgoing, good friend, organized, outgoing, loves her family, youngest sibling with three brothers, self-doubts, attracted to Jamie
* Jamie Westcott: youngest of three brothers, CFO of the wine business he owns with his brothers and a friend, brilliant, educated, good friend, a bit messy, relationship leery, supportive, in debt, attracted to Crystal
* The secondary plot that has run through this and previous books that deals with history of the town and is concluded in this book – rather dark at times
* Learning historical information about Oregon that was new to me and had me googling to learn more
* The way research was presented and made real and how the research brought to life people and events from the past
* That I liked Crystal and Jamie for and with one another and could see them happy into the future
* The backstories of the main characters and the impact they had on both of them

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about bigotry, racism, prejudice, hate, and exclusion laws or anything

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Thank you to the author and Booksprout for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This Love had a really strong start--I loved the cutthroat pool game with the cursed cue (or is it???), the flirtiness, and their New Year's Eve hookup. Jamie and Crystal were cute together, her fears about their age difference (she's 5 years older) aside. From there, though, the story felt like it floundered a bit--much of the drama (relationship and otherwise) felt a bit contrived and overblown--would a mature, adult woman really literally run from a social event just because a few people there become confrontational? And then immediately grab a flight out of state, days earlier than she had planned on leaving? I'm not entirely convinced. Still, everything came together nicely at the end, and the epilogue was very sweet.

If you've read the others in the later part of this series, you'll undoubtedly want to read this one as well; if you're new to the series there are some mild spoilers here to the historical mystery the heroines are trying to solve together. It's a secondary plot, but if continuity is important to you, you'll probably want to read the Westcott (winery) brother books in order ( Turn On first, then So Right , and then this one). Final verdict: a cute story, just not my favorite from this author.

The tenth book in the Ribbon Ridge series and the third one dealing with the Westcott brothers is an age-gap, lots of hot chemistry romance between youngest Westcott brother, Jamie, and Crystal Donovan, Alaina Pierce Archer’s assistant and best friend. Jaimie is the “numbers cruncher” for West Arch Estate, the winery that he owns with his two older brothers and their friend Hayden Archer. Crystal visits Ribbon Ridge frequently with her job with Alaina and because of her new interest in a historical venture she and two other friends have discovered but her home is technically in LA.
Jamie and Crystal first hook-up after a very interesting and flirtatious game of pool involving a very unlucky/lucky pool stick named Hugh the Humiliator and some Never Ever and Truth or Dare back and forth in the Archer’s hot tub late after a New Year’s Eve celebration with it being “all casual” but will Jamie be the only Ribbon Ridge guy to be able to keep it that way? Family circumstances involving secretive and unfavorable family history, long distance relationship and past relationships will all play apart in keeping these two from becoming more but Ribbon Ridge is full of wonderful supportive people and with their help this book has a very special happy ending. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I do suggest reading at least book 8 Turn On and book 9 So Right before this one to understand some of the history involving the brothel and the people involved.

Darcy Burke’s This Love is an absolute gem that captures the essence of small-town charm, family bonds, and the beauty of finding love when you least expect it. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Ribbon Ridge, this installment in the long-running series seamlessly blends heartfelt romance with relatable, multi-dimensional characters.

The age gap love story is handled with grace and authenticity, highlighting the emotional depth and maturity of the characters. Burke’s writing shines as she navigates the complexities of love across different life stages, adding layers of depth to the romantic journey. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, filled with tender moments, witty banter, and emotional growth that keeps you invested from start to finish.

Family dynamics play a crucial role, enriching the narrative with warmth and relatability. The sense of community in Ribbon Ridge is vividly portrayed, making you feel as if you’re part of the town, sharing in the characters’ triumphs and struggles.

This Love is not just a romance; it’s a celebration of life’s unexpected second chances. Darcy Burke’s storytelling prowess ensures that readers are left with a heart full of emotions and an eager anticipation for the next visit to Ribbon Ridge.

Highly recommended for fans of heartfelt, character-driven romances with a small-town setting. Five glowing stars!

Love and Small-Town Secrets
When Crystal and Jamie agreed to keep things casual, neither expected their hearts to get involved. But emotions have a way of complicating even the simplest plans. Crystal is in Ribbon Ridge to research the town’s history, but what she uncovers isn’t just academic—it’s personal. The secrets she digs up are tied to Jamie’s mother’s family, and not everyone in town is thrilled about her discoveries.
To make matters worse, Crystal is just visiting from LA, while Jamie’s life is firmly rooted in Ribbon Ridge. With the town turning against her and their lives heading in different directions, can they find a way to make love work?
Steamy and heartwarming, this is a contemporary romance with emotional depth, small-town drama, and the kind of chemistry that’s hard to resist.

Jamie and Crystal have a lot of sexual tension between them. Alcohol and being alone together makes them act on it but he's younger and Crystal thinks Jamie is too smart for her with his multiple degrees while she barely finished highschool and she's researching the past which brings up some dark history in his family while he's afraid with all his debts that he's not good enough for her. I love that she overcame the bad streak with that pool stick and gave it a new name. Her historical research was interesting and I'm glad she didn't give despite what she discovered. It was nice to catch up with the rest of the characters in Ribbon Ridge and their growing families.

Crystal and Jamie jump right in with a hot and playful progression from a group pool game, to strip "never have I ever," to skinny dipping in the hot tub... Their chemistry and back-and-forth banter/flirting adds a funny charm that lays a foundation for their one night stand to turn into something way more! I thoroughly enjoyed their antics and watching them grow as a couple. I recommend this book to anyone who has enjoyed the previous books in the series as well as anyone who doesn't mind when a romance starts off fun.

What a wonderful series this has been! If you love small towns where everyone knows everyone else, and most of them are related, you’ll love getting to know and love the folks of Ribbon Ridge. Each story is a stand alone, but most of the characters are recurring so it could be a bit confusing remembering which wife goes with which brother. But like me, you’ll want to read them all to see how each couple got together and fell in love. This one is Jamie and Crystal’s story, and their chemistry sizzles off the pages, even though they both insist that they don’t want a relationship, having been burned before. A delightful romance among small town Camaraderie!

The appeal of a Darcy Burke novel is that whether historical or contemporary, her target is always the heart. The connection between author, reader and story is paramount and she never misses her mark. This Love is a mixture of romance, drama and mystery. Modern day romance gets a hand from a little fictional history. With a few familiar faces along to guide the way, Crystal and Jamie discover the importance of love and sacrifice. If it's relatable and emotional, Ms. Burke surely has done something right.

Jamie has history with his brothers and vineyard in Ribbon Ridge.
A New Years celebration with friends and family turns into a steamy hookup with Crystal.
She is an assistant to a movie star Alaina and rich herself.
Despite the age difference, they have an undeniable connection.
Circumstances and past family secrets add more difficulties to their developing relationship.
Loved the fact that she was older and he was the true romantic.
Enjoyable Ribbon Ridge characters are interwoven in the story which makes for a fun read.
I received an ARC but the honest opinion is my own.

Wasn't as much drama as I thought there would be after reading the blurb. In this case, it's a good thing considering ....
The story contains a real life issue that has both who are the cause of the issue and those who want to fight against that issue. At first it seemed.too dark for this genre an especially for this series. However, it just made me want to continue reading and find out the truth about a Ribbon Ridge resident.

I was hooked the early on when a certain "curse" was broken.

Loved this fabulous addition to a brilliant series. This is Crystal and Jamie’s story of forbidden love and passion. Crystal sold Ribbon Ridge's secrets and became an instant pariah, whereas Jamie sees her as a quick no strings attached fling. However as they spend more and more time together their attraction grows, the only problem is she can't stay and he can't go. So how do they solve their dilemma...

“This Love” (Ribbon Ridge Book 10) by Darcy Burke
a Good Story
It took me a few chapters to get invested in the story. A negative to my reading pleasure were the details in a few scenes, although skipping those scenes did get me to the parts I enjoyed quicker. It is a good story showing how history can be very hurtful in the present. Happy Reading ! !

A sensitive rendering of what is lurking in a family's background, and the emotions arising from exposing this story to the world. They decided to just have a physical relationship. Keep it light. Then some of his family history came to light, and they both had to learn how to deal with it. She needed to tell the story and he needed to try support her, even against his family's wishes.

The fifth wheels…

Crystal is in Ribbon Ridge for some research, enjoying New Year’s Eve, playing pool. Jamie Wescott is Archer family adjacent. He’s not a flirt, but in that night, he’s flirting with Crystal and she’s looking at him with new eyes. What was just a fun little fling gets complicated fast with feels and a certain tell all script Crystal wrote.
Recommend.

Another lovely book in the series, it was emotional, angsty, and sexy. As a finale to the series, we get to see a lot of the previous characters and get closure to the family drama.

Crystal and Jamie are pretty nice together. They have a lot to get through for their happily ever after. Their attraction is instant, but physical distance and their age difference throw some challenges.

I am disappointed this series is over, this being the last book...so far. I loved the story of Jamie & Crystal and I absolutely love the project Crystal and the other ladies worked on. I'm hoping another book from Ribbon Ridge will be coming soon, it's got so much history and many more stories to tell.
