Hades The mistakes we make can last a lifetime. In my case, that’s been centuries. Millenia. I vowed I’d never again steal her away to the Underworld. I broke that vow. She’s here now, in my realm, my house, my bed. She’s here—and she doesn’t hate me. But there’s more at stake than her affection, even though there is nothing I crave more. As the past is revealed, sinister intentions come to light, and the war we stand on the cusp of is no longer something we can avoid. Demeter has allied with Zeus, with Olympus. She has a plan, and it could destroy us all.
Persephone There’s more to Hades than he lets me see. The pieces of my puzzle are falling slowly into place, but with every click, the picture is clearer. He is cloaked in regret and I’m not sure that even my forgiveness can absolve him his sins. I am not dead, and yet I’ve found myself in the Underworld. Everything I thought I knew about the world crumbles around me as a truth I can no longer deny takes its place with a violence that leaves me trembling. There is a war brewing, and the players possess a power that could wipe out all of humanity. To save the souls both living and dead, I must make a bargain. But when you pay with your soul—does winning ever cover the loss?
Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Alannah Carbonneau is only a short drive away from the Rocky Mountains that have a staring place in so many of her novels. With seventeen novels and counting currently available on Amazon, Alannah is not only a full-time author, but a full-time mom of two beautiful boys, and wife to an amazing man who always has her back. She lives in a rambling ranch house that needs way too many renos and has one too many cats, but she is happy and in love.
With a solid circle of friends and family, and a very manly, supportive husband who does his best to make sure his family is taken care of, Alannah’s novels feature manly men (sometimes they can be a LOT manly) and friend/family relationships weaved into the stories, because life is about a whole mess of people, and although this is fiction, the best fiction is sprinkled with sweet (and sometimes not so sweet) bits of reality.
Because she loves romance, Alannah writes Contemporary and New Adult Romance. Soon to be released is the Creekwood Valley Series that has ties to the reader beloved Donnelley Brother Series, where light suspense and romance weave to create titillating stories that not only steal your heart but keep you on the edge of your seat. She is the author of the highly rated Teach Me Series, an emotional read about love, life and lessons learned. Our Dark Design is a standalone erotic romance peppered with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, and The Choice is an entirely unconventional standalone romance about three.
She is currently working on a Cross World Fantasy Romance Series for Adults she can’t wait to share with you, because this will feature hot men who are a little bit dominant and a lot protective who are head over heels in love with stubborn, magnificent women.
When Alannah isn’t writing or spending time with her three men, she can be found in her garden, or with a paint brush in hand. But no matter where she is or what she’s doing, you can bet that she’s thinking of a love story she can share with you.
I liked it, but not much seemed to happen? The most interesting bit was the part with Uranus and us learning the secret of Persephones's birth and getting more of a background who she was.
That said, I need to read what happens next, so I will be continuing with Book 4. Also, the cliffhanger was frustrating because no one in their right mind would go there. Sometimes, Persephone seemed too stupid to live.
For me this book lacks plot but is overwhelmed with descriptions. It felt like I was scrutinising a huge painting where small details are more important than the whole picture. In the end I couldn't comprehend how this story will end cause there were so many questions unanswered and so few pages left. Turns out it's not the last book🤬 If you ask me this book could be a 100 pages shorter or could be made into the last book as intended.
We have Hades baring his soul. We find him burdened by the weight of his past and his need to protect Persephone, no matter what. He is powerful in his own right, but he shows vulnerability in the love he has for her. Persephone, on the other hand, is a force to be reckoned with! She is super curious, wanting to find out everything while having her human mind struggling with believing what she thought was once real and myth. As she navigates this journey of self-discovery alongside her 'protector', she reveals mysteries of her past that she can't quite reach to grasp onto. The chemistry between Hades and Persephone is electrifyingly electric! There is so much tension and desire running thick throughout the book. 🥵
Alannah, you really did that scene justice. It was beautiful, in a sense. There was no glorifying it. It was exactly how it was. You did it with such care. I can't explain it. Just know, you did it proud. Meeting Alastor made me very happy - especially as everything about the horse was mentioned, correctly 😀
This isn't 'just a romance book'. There is so much more to it, danger, fire, tension, lust, fear, the secrets, desire, excitement!
If you love Greek mythology, dark romance, and a truly smashing story, this is the series for you!
I am (patiently) waiting for book four. I can't wait to be back in this world again!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I feel really bad for the 3 stars but I struggled with this one. I might have gone less if it hadn’t been for the fact that I loved books 1 & 2.
I felt that it was a little too detail oriented. I get that there were things that we might need descriptions of. For example I totally get that the moons were a big part of the story but I knew what they looked like after the first time, I’ll even take when it was mentioned that they had changed slightly or even when they went white again but there was several mentions of the same description. I get that some might not remember the small details but I ended up skimming when it came to moons.
I also found it a little annoying that Persephone went against Hades wish. I get that she wanted to be independent but it’s Hades world he knows what’s safe and what isn’t. I just got annoyed that everything he told her not to do she did it anyway.
All that being said I have come this far I might as well read book 4 when it comes out. Plus Hades is gonna go 🦇 💩 when he finds out where she has gone. I am looking forward to Poseidon getting his own book.
Alannah Carbonneau's Crown of Souls is a captivating dive into the heart of the Hades and Persephone myth, offering a fresh, sensual, and thrilling take that will leave you breathless and begging for more. This isn’t just a retelling; it’s a reimagining, a deeply personal exploration of two immortal souls grappling with ancient mistakes, dangerous secrets, and a love that defies the boundaries of realms.
From the first page, Carbonneau expertly draws you into the Underworld with her lush and evocative prose. The atmosphere is thick with shadows and secrets, mirroring the inner turmoil of both Hades and Persephone. Hades, burdened by the weight of his past actions and desperate to protect Persephone, is a powerful and brooding figure. He's not just the stoic ruler of the dead; he's a man haunted by his mistakes, fiercely protective, and achingly vulnerable in his love for Persephone. Carbonneau humanizes him, giving him depth and complexity that makes him utterly compelling.
Persephone, on the other hand, is a force of nature. She’s not simply a naive maiden stolen away. She’s intelligent, curious, and possesses a fire that burns even brighter in the heart of the Underworld. Her journey of self-discovery, as she unearths the mysteries of her lineage and the hunger that grows within her, is both fascinating and empowering. You root for her as she navigates the political machinations of the Underworld and learns to embrace her own power.
The chemistry between Hades and Persephone is electric. The tension simmers on every page, fueled by forbidden desires and the weight of their shared history. Carbonneau writes their intimate moments with a beautiful blend of tenderness and passion, creating a connection that feels both timeless and intensely personal.
But Crown of Souls is more than just a romance. The plot is intricately woven, filled with intrigue, danger, and ancient prophecies that threaten to unravel the very fabric of the Underworld. The stakes are high, the secrets are tantalizing, and the pacing keeps you on the edge of your seat. The exploration of Persephone's true lineage adds a layer of complexity and excitement, raising the stakes and forcing both characters to confront truths that could shatter everything they thought they knew.
Alannah Carbonneau has crafted a truly exceptional novel that is both faithful to the spirit of the original myth and boldly original in its execution. Crown of Souls is a must-read for fans of Greek mythology, dark romance, and anyone who enjoys a well-written, captivating story that will stay with you long after you turn the final page. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment!
Crown of Souls!!! This take on Hades and Persephone’s story hooked me from the very beginning and I just can’t get enough! Alannah Carbonneau has crafted such a deep and wonderful world that meshes perfectly with reality and myth it truly is just *chef’s kiss*. I can’t wait to see what happens next in The Giftless Goddess! Absolutely astonishing! 5/5⭐️ 3.5/5🌶️
We know that in life, sometimes the mistakes we make can, in fact, last a lifetime. And for Hades, those mistakes have haunted him for centuries, millenia, in fact.
Hades vowed that he would never again force Persephone's hand or steal her away ever again. He swore the next time Persephone entered the Underworld, it would be by her own choice. But, once again, he'd broken that promise.
Once again, Persephone is back in my world, the realm that I was happiest, she was in my house, but best of all she was in my bed.
Persephone is here – and best of all, she doesn't hate me.
There's nothing more than I crave, then here, love and affection. But, I know there's more at stake now than any of that. Her return to my realm has set things in motion.
The past is now being revealed, new sinister intentions are being brought to our attention, and a war is brewing and can no longer be avoided.
We have learned that Demeter is allied with Zeus and Olympus.
We know that she has a plan, a plan that could destroy us all.
Persephone knows that there's more to Hades than he lets her see.
She still doesn't remember everything from her past, but things are slowly coming to light, and she is slowly remembering her past, and as the puzzle comes together, the picture becomes clear.
Persephone can see that Hades keeps himself cloaked in sadness and regret, and she's unsure if her forgiveness can release his sins. Persephone knows that she's not dead, and yet she has found herself in the Underworld.
As everything Persephone thought she knew about the world disintegrates around her and the truth she once tried to deny takes its rightful place in her mind she realizes that violence is coming her way and that leaves her trembling. War is brewing on the horizon, and all the players possess powers that could destroy all of humanity.
In order to save everyone, the living and the dead, Persephone has to make a bargain.
It's a bargain that has to be paid with her soul, though, and when one is paying with one's soul, does winning really matter anymore?
I have been in love with Alannah Carbonneau's Hade's and Persephone series since book 1, and I have been eagerly waiting for the third installment since I finished the second book. And I have to say that Crown of Souls is Captivating, this is the dive into the real myth of the Hades and Persephone myth that we have all been waiting for. It is fresh, sensual, and thrilling. It's a take that will leave you breathless waiting for the next book. This series is a reimagining of the myth with a deeply personal exploration of two immortal souls who grapple with inevitable ancient mistakes that keep being made over and over again, with dangerous secrets and above all a love that will defy all boundaries of time and realms.
As soon as you open page 1 of this edition of the series, you are drawn into the Underworld with such lush and evocative prose. The atmosphere of the Underworld is thick with shadows and secrets that mirror the turmoil both Hades and Persephone feel and are burdened with. Hades himself feels the burden of the weight of his past actions and desperate to protect Persephone, he is a powerful, brooding figure and not just the stoic rules of the dead that you normally think he is. He is actually haunted by the mistakes of his past. He is protective, achingly vulnerable in his love for Persephone, and in this book, we find that he is given some humanity, depth, and complexity that makes him compelling.
Persephone is such a force of nature, nor is she a naive maiden who has been stolen away like she has always been made out to be. Here, we find her to be intelligent, curious, possessive. She has a fire that burns even brighter than the heart of the Underworld. In following her path of self-discovery, she discovers the mysteries of who she really is and she realizes that shes hungry to know who she is, where she comes from and what really happened to her in her past, and it is both fascinating and empowering. You can't help but root for her, and she learns to walk the halls of power and politics and the machinations of the Underworld and as she learns to embrace and control her own power.
The burning chemistry between Hades and Persephone is something palpable. You can feel it. The tension between then jumps off the page and is fueled by their forbidden desires and all their shared history. You can't help but sigh in the tender way that Alannah writes Hades and Persephone writes the intimate moments with the perfect blend of tenderness, passion, and timeless intensity.
I love that Crown of Souls is so much more than just a romance. Within the plot is intricately woven and filled an intrigue, danger, ancient prophecies that threatens to unravel everything holding the Underworld together. In this book, you are going to find that the stakes are high, secrets tantalizing, pacing is perfect, and you'll be on the edge of your seat the entire time.
I found it to be so much fun learning about Persephone's true lineage. This adds such a layer of complexity and excitement. And of course, with this, it also means that it rises the stakes and forces Hades and Persephone to confront the truth that could shatter everything they thought they knew.
Alannah has managed to write a exceptional novel that is faithful to the spirit of the myth of Hades and Persephone and it's original execution and within that she has managed to add in her own spirit and soul. Crown of Souls and the entire Hades and Persephone series is a MUST READ for anyone who is a lover of Greek mythology, lover of dark romance and really anyone who loves a novel that is well-written that's captivating that's going to stay with you long after you finish the book. I can't wait to read the next book, and I can't wait to see where our characters are going to go and what Persephone is going to learn next.
This continues to be absolutely my favorite Hades and Persephone retelling.
Persephone continues to grow into the goddess within and learns pieces of her prior life and toils with her current life as they blend is really well done! Hades and Persephone continue to unravel what ultimately led to her untimely end and the deceit of other gods and goddesses.
The way Alannah goes into detail about how Persephone came into her powers is absolutely like nothing else.
The spice is very well written and adds to the plot instead of overtaking it altogether.
I don't understand why the book you waited for disappoints you - ALWAYS!!! I feel so bad writing this review because I really had high hopes of Persephone reaching hell, her memory coming back and how she handles the revelations but sadly it let me down for so many reasons.
THIS IS A RANT..
The book starts exactly from where book2 ends, Persephone wakes up in hell and Hades to his credit does not hide anything and gives her truth from Day 1.Guess what our girl does instead of completely loosing it , getting scared or getting sick or throwing denials - she just accepts that the myth she has known all her life - the hell , the underworld, the gods are all real, alive , existing, moving and talking entities and the explanation/justification she gives to herself and us is that she has finally gone bat shit crazy- WTH
Once accepting her reality and life , she just moves around in hell like this is all okay and fine , not once she thinks about contacting her parents who obviously must have been worried at her disappearance. I get it she is annoyed with them ,does not like them much but the love you have for your parents under such troubles times -it comes forward and you want nothing to call them to let them know you are fine and they dont have to worry , that is the instinct, but for persephone getting horny and banging Hades is all she needs in life - parents and their love/worry can go to HELL .. pun intended
We and persephone find out during the story how she was manipulated in her previous life by Demeter and how she got totally played by her and ruined her and Hades life, because of which she even got killed and how Hades has suffered so long ( eons I believe) - long story short she was not very bright in her previous life and you would expect that she would have learned something and would be lot more careful about her actions but obviously a big NO. Hades's girl has NO intention of doing that. The place where everyone asked her not to go, specifically told her that it is too dangerous and she can get killed, well no points for guessing she goes there and that too without telling any one. This display of bravery/ stupidity needs to be applauded at next level. she does this not once but twice.
These were all logical faults and I could somehow shut my brain and move on and accept but the most horrendous unacceptable chapter was author romanticizing ra*e of Persephone. She remembers what happened to her in her previous life, how Hades captured her by force and took her to hell and what/how he did. It starts with all the gory details , all the pain, the horror but in between somewhere she realises that Hades has been alone all his life , how he was so lonely in underworld , how the horrors of hell has this maddening effect on him and whatever he is doing with her is actually not his fault but the circumstances has made him do it .She is not only okay with it but she also starts enjoying .. I mean what the actual F????? That is NO, NO and NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. No one is allowed under any condition to even normalise such gruesome act and here it goes one step further when Persephone says if she goes back she would like it to go through the same way.. HOW THE F IS THAT POSSIBLE ?? How can people actually write this. This is loathsome.
RANT DONE
Saving grace of book 3 is Hades who is so in love with Persephone , who is so guilt ridden that he is ready to go any heights for her all over again. His longing, his pain, his love ,his obsession - she is his life and he just can't do without her. Thankfully the plot also moves (gives a reprieve from Persephone's zero brains actions) and we get to know the secret of persephone's birth and Demeter's actual intention which keeps you reading the book. Also we get to see Hades's real form - that was hot and wow..
The third installment of the retelling of Hades and Persephone has Persephone awakening in the Underworld, where she begins to question her sanity as her human mind struggles to accept this new reality. With the help of Hades and other familiar faces, she starts to come to terms with who she was and who she is. As more memories resurface, she confronts another life she lived, leading to questions, doubts, and a desire to rectify past mistakes. New insights and past deceptions are unveiled, revealing that former enemies are still engaged in a deadly game. On the brink of a war among the Gods, the question arises: will victory belong to those fighting to save the world, or will humanity’s established beliefs be irrevocably altered? Will Persephone heed Hades’ warnings to protect her human life, or will the Fates lure her toward her doom? This was yet another excellent book in the series by the author. To truly enjoy and comprehend the story, it's essential to read the previous installments. We finally get a glimpse into the Underworld and the significant impact Persephone has on it. More lies and old connections from the past are uncovered, providing new perspectives. Once again, the writing is well-executed, immersing readers in the world of the Gods. The characters continue to be beautifully portrayed, and the chemistry between them is fantastic. I eagerly await the final (I think) book and hope it will be released soon. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you’re looking for a captivating blend of mythology and modern storytelling, "Crown of Souls" is a must-read! Alannah Carbonneau has expertly woven a narrative that breathes new life into the timeless tale of Hades and Persephone, and trust me, you won’t be able to put it down.
From the very first page, the chemistry between Hades and Persephone is electric. Their complex relationship unfolds beautifully against the backdrop of the stunning Underworld, which Carbonneau has crafted with such vivid detail that it feels almost tangible. The world-building seamlessly merges myth with reality, creating a rich tapestry that pulls you deeper into the story.
This installment dives deep into both characters' journeys, offering profound insights into their pasts and inner struggles. Persephone’s growth is especially poignant as she grapples with her identity and the weight of her lineage. Hades, too, experiences significant development, and watching him confront his past mistakes adds layers to his character that are simply mesmerizing.
The plot is filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when you think you’ve figured it all out, Carbonneau throws in unexpected revelations that will leave you gasping! The cliffhanger at the end? Absolutely heart-stopping! I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
"Crown of Souls" is more than just a retelling; it's a story about forgiveness, power, and the ties that bind us to our pasts. If you enjoyed the previous books, this one will exceed your expectations. It’s a thrilling ride from start to finish, and I’m already counting down the days until the next installment in The Criftless Croddess series! 🌟
Greek mythology has always been a fascination of mine and when given the opportunity to delve into a story filled with the fantastical myths come to life I’ll always take it.
Alannah has yet again swept me away with the third novel in her Gods of Myth series. I have fallen so deeply in love with the characters, the plot, and the storyline. The telling of the story of Hades and Persephone is so eloquent and descriptive it can quickly pull you deeper into the world that is so elegantly carved out for the readers.
In this third book you FINALLY get to experience the Underworld, and Hades in his realm, as well as follow Persephone along in her journey of recovered memories and discoveries. You get to learn of Hades and his history. You learn of the divine creation that is the Gods and the world.
Of course, as we all known from the stories, their story didn’t begin with the love they later shared. Although the book does cover the harshness of how Hades stole Persephone away to Underworld and took her without consent, I feel that Alannah was able to tell this part of their journey in such a beautiful way to express the complexities of their particular situation.
As always, I will be stalking my email for a notification of the next book so I can snatch it up.
Hades and Persephone's story was originally planned to end with book 3, Crown of Souls, but the characters seemed to have more left in them so there will be one final book to follow.
While I have been enjoying Hades and Persephone's story, I have to admit I struggled with this one a bit.
There were some real highlights in it that had me hanging on. However, there were sections that I felt made the story feel a little dragging. Describing the world, their background, and the characters, at times was perfectly placed and I think important to the story, and other times it felt like it could have been pulled back a bit.
Overall, the continuing struggle for Hades to get Persephone back is captivating and something I want to read, his obsession and devotion to the love of his eternal life is beautiful in a slightly messed up way. While Persephone's struggle to discover her true self that was lost is enticing and draws you in with each new piece of herself she remembers. Together it is an excellent plot for a story and has plenty of potential.
I can say that while I did struggle a little with this particular book in the series overall I am captivated by the story and I am really looking forward to their conclusion.
Not gonna lie, I had a lot of trouble deciding how many stars to give this book.
First, this was supposed to be a trilogy, then suddenly the third book ends in a cliffhanger? Not cool.
Anyway, on to my review.
What makes this book special are the lush, evocative descriptions. The details are very sensual, and I don’t mean that in the sexual sense of the word but as in a feast for the senses.
I don’t like the romanticizing of the SA in the previous life.
And I can’t decide about Persephone. She is either very intelligent or she has the sense of a concussed lamb. No in between. I do think that she has a lot of naivety. Her belief that she is mad rather than questioning what she knows as reality… disappointing.
The actual plot in this book is a bit thin, although there are some detailed flashbacks. Detailed is the operative word here. The book has lots and lots of details. I can’t decide if I love that or if I want the book to be shorter. I love the descriptions (as previously stated) but the book could have benefited from some trimming.
In short, I don’t know how I feel about this book, as there were things I really like and things that I really don’t. Because I’m on the fence, I gave this book 3/5 stars.
Review for Hades and Persephone: Crown of Souls by Alannah Carbonneau
Alannah Carbonneau delivers an enthralling third installment in the Gods of Myth series with Crown of Souls, a darkly seductive and immersive retelling of Hades and Persephone’s legendary love story. This book takes readers deeper into the Underworld, exploring themes of power, sacrifice, and undying devotion.
Carbonneau’s writing is both lyrical and gripping, weaving together mythology and romance in a way that feels fresh yet timeless. The chemistry between Hades and Persephone crackles on the page, making their journey as captivating as it is heartbreaking. With unexpected twists, high stakes, and beautifully crafted world-building, Crown of Souls is a must-read for fans of mythological retellings and epic love stories.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
After reading the first book I thought the storyline was a good idea but all the books just seem repetitive and couldn’t hold my interest much longer. I gave up half way through the third book. All three have the same thoughts and inner dialogue over and over. Nothing new or shocking and at times confusing and feeling like a history lesson. Spoiler alert- by the third book you would think she gets her memory back and knows who she is- she still has the same flashbacks and still talks about how she used to be promiscuous over and over but she doesn’t understand how she could have done that, and Hades still has the same guilt and feelings as he did in the first two. Not much character development, I wanted to love it but had a hard time staying intrigued
I had enjoyed the previous two books in the Gods of Myth series, and this uses the Greek mythology retelling in this universe. The characters had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the way this created a new story for Hades and Persephone. I thought it worked with the other books and how it was told as a Greek mythology. Alannah Carbonneau does a fantastic job in writing this and I loved the way this series works overall. I enjoyed the romance going on and worked with the original story. I can't wait for more from Alannah Carbonneau.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This third book in the series takes a different tone entirely, as Hades who had been agonizingly waiting for Persephone to remember who she was, had to take her to the Underworld in a hurry at the end of the last book, so now Persephone knows but doesn't fully remember or understand and has to adapt to learning her boyfriend is the literal God she believed he was named after and that she, herself, possesses the soul of a Goddess--his wife. This book also did not disappoint, between the spicy moments and the drama and that ending! Once again, I find myself in need of the next (and apparently final) book.
Hades and Persephone - Crown of Souls: Gods of Myth Book Three by Alannah Carbonneau My Rating: 5 Stars Reviewed by: Tammy - Book Nook Nuts
REVIEW Book three blew my mind. Persephone is learning more and more, visions become reality, loss is very real. She has forgiven but is that enough for Hades?
She still questions her sanity although so many lies, and manipulations are harder to unravel but she will if its the death of her and it just might be.
Hades is torn. He wants to just protect Persephone but she refuses him at every turn. He must fight back his demon God to protect himself and his mate.
This story saw more action, and more insight... Book Four awaits!
**I read this book via Kindle Unlimited and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
I am continuing to love this series!! This book was so good! It is so well written, and you can tell that the author has such a great understanding of the mythology, even though she has put her own unique spin on it. I thought she did an excellent job of handling the retelling of Hades and Persephone’s original encounter. I love Hades, and how he’s still so determined to do things different this time around. And there are so many terrific side characters, one of my favorites being Poisidon. I can’t believe that cliffhanger of an ending, and I’m so ready for the next book now!!!
This series continues to be absolutely amazing! I adored this one as we got to see so much more of the familial interplay of the pantheon and their history plus the birth of the underworld. It was fun to get to see more of Hades' crew in their element, and Poseidon absolutely stole the show for me (so the post script that he'll get his own book down the road was an amazing gift there at the end!) I have so many questions now (the Atlantis thing, for real) and I cannot wait to see where we go in the final book!
Ugh I can't get enough of this series! I love that this series is written in such a way that it makes you feel like you're Persephone AND Hades at the same time. Like you're experiencing this story for yourself from dual perspectives, instead of just reading about a story. This is probably my favorite Hades & Persephone retelling that I've read so far. I'd love to get physical copies to display on my shelves once I get the funds.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Make sure to read the trigger warnings before starting this book… The feelings. Oh the feelings!! Starting off in the underworld and finally learning about their personal history just pulls me in. I'm HOOKED! As the story progresses with history of the gods and goddesses, I love comparing the history and seeing how Alannah makes it her own. As the book went on I knew it wasn't going to be the complete story in 3 books. Can't wait for book 4, and to see how Hades and Persephone continue.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Disappointingly, not a lot happens in this installment. We spend a lot of time on their physical relationship (which is full of repetitive phrasing) while Persephone slowly uncovers the bread crumb trail of her past which the audience already knows from previous books. There are glimmers of exciting, new things afoot, but we'll have to wait for the last book to be published.
This is a thrilling instalment for this incredible series arhat just gets better and better. An incredible continuation of the retelling about Hades & Persephone that’s exciting as we once again follow the authors unique take on this mythological tale. We get to explore more with Persephone as she slowly regains her memories and we dive deeper into the underworld. Super excited for the next book!
The continuation of Hades and Persephone’s story did not disappoint. This story dives into the Underworld, where pieces of the past continue to shed light on the journey that lead this dual to where they are today. As Persephone continues to unravel her memories, new surprises surface that neither saw coming. I look forward to the conclusion of their story!
When I first stumbled upon this series, Alannah was a new author to me. But she has turned into someone I truly enjoy reading. I always enjoy a new take on the old God's and myths, and this series does not disappoint. I'm excited to see how the story of Persephone and Hades ends and where her next journey with Poseidon may take me.
Everything about this book is amazing. The plot, the story, the characters, the writing… I loved the first two books and the third was as good as I expected. It is a different take on the Hades & Persephone myth that draws you in. I finished the whole thing in one sitting.
4.6 ⭐️ I am eating this series up. I need the next one nowwww This one was different from the last two in that it was very detail/lore heavy, and kind of the way maker for the final book. It wasn’t quite a filler book…but kind of was in a way. I think she really just needed space to explain everything she needed to in order for things to make sense.
The way this author writes has me captivated. I was very curious in how she would handle the kidnapping and SA of Persephone, and she did it absolutely beautifully. And I’m very excited she’s making a book for Poseidon!!! Because, goodness me, let me tell you. This man is just as tortured and sad and yearning as his brother 😩 and I NEED to see him find his queen.
I am STOKED for book four! Crown of Souls did NOT disappoint. Alannah's attention to detail makes her story that much more riveting and inviting to the reader. Persephone has a choice to make. it's high stakes, emotional, and intense in all the right ways. I love seeing Hades personal development and really seeing Persephone start to come into herself.
