Calista doesn’t want to run in the Chase, yet she always finds herself duty-bound to follow the magical traditions of her home, the village of Viridi. Being the first silver fae in centuries will have that effect.
But the Chase matches you to your soulmate and Calista rarely trusts men, the last thing she wants is to be matched to one.
Laith is everything she dislikes. An arrogant outsider who appears in Viridi with one purpose, to vex her. But there is a threat more sinister than the idea of a husband lurking in the shadows.
The magic in her land is dying out and something dark is coming to take its place. The Chase might end up being more than a simple tradition. She must choose between saving her people and their magic or forming an unlikely alliance with a stranger.
To Catch a Silver Star is a slow-burn fade-to-black romantasy. Can be read as a standalone. Cliffhanger in epilogue.
It was so good and well written. Also, any story that can pull me away from my obsession with HP fanfics is a solid 10 in my book. 😆 I really need to know how this story continues. Calista and Laith = 💯 and I love the slow-burn of it.
I want to be honest because I truly enjoyed most of this book. The writing is genuinely beautiful: the character development, the world building, the relationship dynamics... just beautiful. That’s what makes the ending so disappointing.
The conclusion felt lukewarm and oddly unfinished, especially compared to how strong the rest of the story was. It left me unsatisfied rather than giving a meaningful resolution. The cliffhanger implies a continuation, but even that doesn’t make the ending for the characters feel right. Personally, this story would have benefited from being split into two books (where the second continues past the epilogue) instead of ending where it did.
I’m hopeful a sequel could strengthen what was missing here, but as it stands, that ending was just not the move.
Massive cliffhanger omg! For the most part, I liked this book. Calista annoyed me quite a bit at first. I found her to be quite arrogant, and she was so mean to Thalia and the other girls who loved the Chase. I also didn't get her joining in and then getting angry that she was caught. She decided to participate. It bothered me for a while, but as the story went on, she grew on me. I like Laith too. He was super laid back, which made up for her attitude in the beginning. I love how the story was written. I found it to be beautiful and seamless. I can't wait for the next book
A man named Leith shows up to a fae town when his horse has an injury. The fae are about to celebrate Lunores. Callista is a silver fae who doesn want to run in the Chase because of her sister dying after being mated with someone who caught her. Leith is invited to partake and catches Callista. He begins to share in her powers and together they find the forest has been poisoned. Their relationship grows and Leith actually had an alternate reason for coming to the town. Its discovered later when theyre all attacked.
To Catch a Silver Star was a nice surprise. The story was unique, interesting, and held my attention well. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and hope to see more from the author in the future!
amazing amazing book. the enemies to lovers theme was written so so well and i am really excited to read the next book! i hope this author publishes more books cause this was so fun to read literally finished it in like 2 days
The writing style was simple and the characters felt flat, but I did enjoy the setting/story. I didn’t realize this was going to be part of a series- it ended on a cliffhanger!
Did not expect to be transported and engrossed so quickly and deeply into this book. Could not tell it was the first novel for the author. I forgot all my responsibilities and finished this within 24-48 hours. Freaken LOVED IT! More please 4.5/5
