I'M NOT YOUR PET! is an MM #alienromance with language barriers, hurt/comfort, and size difference. It features a hot shark captain named ROARK from the planet Osheania, who has rescued a traumatized little human from a life of servitude on planet F'ukyuu. When HUGO received a full-ride scholarship to an Ivy league college, the last thing he expected was to wake up on an alien planet a galaxy away. After accidentally proposing to ROARK, he's in for the shock of a life time. HUGO thinks he's a pet but ROARK is confident he's found the mate he's been waiting for all his life. Can it be possible that HUGO's true love is a pink shark, twice his size with fangs and tentacles that have a mind of their own? Or is he destined for disappointment once again?

Find out more in I'M NOT YOUR PET! which is part of the EXTRA! EXTRATERRESTRIAL shared world series with Eryn Hawk, where each book focuses on its own pair and their HEA. While these stories can act as standalones, it is best to read each authors' books in the order of their publication due to world-building.

Despite the silly (albeit cute!) cover and punny names (one planet is named F'ukYuu, another is Osheania; Roark's species are humanoid sharks and are called Sahrks), I'm Your Pet is the sweetest holiday story of the season. And it's not even a holiday story.

Roark is so dang squishy, shy, and adorable, and Hugo is such a lost soul, I wanted to hug them both and never let go.

Told in alternating POVs, the narrative follows Roark and Hugo as they fumble through the initial language barrier and Roark's overprotectiveness to tentative tumbles (and stilted but sincere conversations) on Roark's big round bed.

This book is so much more than kinky sex. The sex is a bit kinky, sure, but more importantly, it's FUN. Roark has two cocks, you see, and they each have their own personality - one is eager; the other, more polite. The sexual exploration - both guys are virgins - is smokin' hot.

I loved the Pretty Woman moment when Hugo, having been forced to work as an enslaved space stripper for three years, is given unlimited credits to buy anything his little heart desires at the biggest "mall" in the galaxy.

I wanted to know what all he bought, but at least one purchase was a sexy lil' white dress that shows off Hugo's freckles and slender frame to perfection. Incidentally, Roark wears a tux, and I could not with the cuteness!

There are a few pacing issues (too many detailed monologues, while big events are summarized), and I wish we'd gotten to know more of the crew members, but as a whole, this book is original and relentlessly romantic. I couldn't help but fall head over heels for this couple.

Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is a a 9 foot, soft, pink man-shark; two cocks preferred, but one will do. Thank you!

so, we all know by now that if you ever hear on the news that a random bitch fucked an alien, that bitch better be me.
however, in my hard, long alien research i’ve never stumbled upon a two dicked alien. also, said dicks are tentacled and kind of sentient.
i’m pretty sure i want that one. i am not completely sold on the shark face because i am quite terrified of sharks but i might do it for science.
if you do happen to encounter one, please dm me.

oh, did you want to know something about the book? what, the dicks description wasn’t enough for you? i mean, yeah, i guess i can do that.

loved, loved, loved both main characters. i genuinely wanted to hug them all the time that i wasn’t thinking about the double dicks. which, sure, it wasn’t a lot of time, but it still counts.
i actually have a small little complaint, this is a little bit longer than it should be and i guess we should all thank the author for trying to limit the three repetitions. trying being the key word.
i also adored the resolution of the conflict, because while the conflict was predictable, the resolution wasn’t at all.

i genuinely hope this isn’t the end of this series because i fell in love with characters in both books and i reeeeaaaaaally need their stories. please and thank you.

i read an arc and you definitely don’t have to wonder if this is my honest opinion because you couldn’t waterboard this information out of most people. so yeah.

Because the truth was, he may be an alien, but he was far more human than anyone I’d ever met before. And I may be his pet, but Roark was teaching me what it felt like to be loved.

Super fun & cute alien romance. I loved Roark, big pink marshmallow boi, and how he doted on and cared for Hugo, spoiled him and loved him. How stoic and serious he was except with his human.
It was like love at first sight for both of them, but the pacing of the relationship was nice and slow, perfect build-up.

And when he tucked his nose against the nape of my neck, and immediately started purring like a giant squishy panther, I felt peace.

The purring, oh my lord, so cute. Loved the language barrier, the color-changing mood spots, them falling deeper the more they got to know each other.

Huu-mans were such magical creatures. And my Huu-goh was the best of them all.

The third-act drama was a bit anti-climactic, and the ending more rushed than I would’ve liked. I was expecting more angst, but I still enjoyed this sweet inter-galactic love story.
I’m also extremely curious about Briar and his story, so fingers crossed his book is coming next.

“I cannot lose you. I only just found you.”

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

I don’t think I was prepared for the sheer fluffiness of I’m Not Your Pet. There’s spice of course, but this was just too adorable for words!

Roark and Hugo are both so absolutely precious, and I just loved how sweet they were to each other & were together in general. Despite their differences and inability to properly communicate with one another, they cared so deeply for each other.

Of course, with any book by Fae, there’s plenty of laughs and it will absolutely put you in your feelings, but I’m Not Your Pet was just so lovely 🥹

- human + alien
- age gap
- virgin MCs
- language barrier
- size difference
- tentacles + TWO sentient weens

This was fun! 😆 I started reading this series because of this cover. I mean, how could I resist, haha. But this was much sweeter than I expected. Hugo and Roark are very adorable couple and they have a lot of cute momente together.

We were each other's firsts, and while I would’ve loved him regardless, it still felt clandestine.
Like he’d known somehow, a galaxy away, that I was waiting for him.
Only him.
I just hadn’t known it yet.

There was nothing particular wrong with this book, except I expected something more angsty and smutty. But still, tentacles dicks (yes, as in two) were very hot 🔥

“You’re a fucking genius,” I told him, even though I knew he wouldn’t understand. “A sex wizard.”
Roark nuzzled my cheek affectionately.
Maybe I was his pet, but at that moment, I didn’t fucking care. I was too fucked out, and too happy. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it had gotten me alien dick, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing.

I'm curious about potential more books in this universe. There should definitely be a story about Briar.

Ok, I’m not sure what I’m going to get into with this one but it had a pink shark man … A PINK SHARK MAN! The cover is making me question how these two are going to have sexy times because that shark is huuuuge. And the sharp teeth. Like, how is this going to logistically work with these two??

So this is also book 2 and I haven’t read book 1 so I may be missing prior knowledge of this alien landscape.

Welcome to F’ukYuu, the pleasure planet. Where Translator headsets are needed for human -alien communication.

Hugo is an intelligent human . He is also an abductee, slave , positive thinker, and virgin. He has somehow ended up on this planet as a sex slave. Well more like stripper/ dancer.

His boss puts him to work to suck a giant pink shark man’s dick.

“Hello, Bruce. Humans are friends, not food.

Giant shark-man. Giant muscle-y pink shark-man. And I was going to touch his dick. Oh my god.”

Roark - is the pink, squishy, shark man with octopus like tendrils . He is a Military Captain I think, a kind, gentle and lonely shark man.

Roark buys Hugo from his abductors. I thought he wanted to mate him but I think he doesn’t know what to do with a human 🤣

“And though I kept steering him toward the corner where I’d set up a bed for him too, he kept making his way back toward mine.”

Like a puppy - oh my gosh . Roark even reads a how to care for your human manual 🤣

Hugo is frustrated at being treated like a pet - he even has a leash!

“But at least back on planet F’ukYuu I wasn’t sleeping on what was essentially a “doggy” bed. I wasn’t dragged around on a leash. I wasn’t pampered like a pedigree Pomeranian and left alone on the ship in Roark’s quarters for hours at a time while my “owner” went to work at his very important job.”

Miscommunication abounds as poor Roark wants Hugo as a mate not a pet . Sex isn’t casual for Sarkhs. (I see what you did there!) Sex is for mates. Roark just doesn’t have experience with humans and they don’t speak the same language. Unfortunately they have no translator headset once they left Hugo’s old employee / Slave Manager.

Alien sexy times happen despite both being virgins, being two different species, the language barrier and lack of cultural knowledge. Hugo decides pink alien dick is the best thing ever.

“I was suddenly breathless all over again. Shocked and intrigued. The biologist in me reawakened. Tentacle dicks. Two of them.”

Aww Roark is this big, overprotective , squishy sweetheart who treats Hugo so preciously that Hugo can’t help falling in love. This is something he hasn’t experienced before, feeling loved and seen, as growing up Hugo had a pretty lonely childhood filled with emotionally unavailable parents and no friends.

Roark has been learning English , so they are communicating better. It’s all very cute.

Aww this kinda reminds me of beauty and the beast but the beast in this story isn’t growly, grouchy and is without anger issues. Human and the shark alien - a sweet and adorable reimagining of beauty and the beast. The beauty is all nerdy but with technology and they are trying to live together in a space craft not castle . Roark is a Captain not a prince so he has cadets and crew, not singing furniture.

There’s even a ball they attend. Hugo and Roark have headsets for a night so they open up and communicate and it’s just so heartwarmingly beautiful.

“I thought about Roark. My big squishy pink heartthrob. My mate. The beast I loved.”

Ok maybe my fairytale theory is correct cos there’s a Briar ( like Briar Rose aka Sleeping Beauty), and a Grimm like Grimm’s Fairytales.

The climax of the story - Hugo is a badass. I’m cheering him on. The epilogue wraps up their love story.

“Love wasn’t cold. Love was soft and warm and wonderful. It was squishy and pink. It was a safe space when you needed one.”

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book as it’s not my usual go to ( Hot mafia dangerous men - I’m looking at you 🤣) I liked the clever planet names of - U’suhk , F’ukYuu , Osheania and the comedic writing.

If you’re after a well written lighthearted fantasy romp with all the smutty alien sex imaginable between a human and pink shark alien then this is your book. And it’s a series!!

This was the sweetest freaking flufftastic couple. I adored them together. Roark was exactly the kind of man that sweet Hugo deserved after everything he'd been through. From first being abducted by aliens when he was just about to begin his life at Harvard, to being sold to a pleasure house on a slave planet. As you can probably guess, Hugo hasn't had the easiest of times since his abduction years prior. While he wasn't forced to engage in intimate acts with patrons, he did have to provide entertainment ala exotic dancing which wasn't exactly something Hugo came to the planet with knowledge of. And though Hugo somehow kept his bright, sweet personality intact, he was always living with the fear that things could change on a dime for a life of a slave.

Roark was so lovely, yet clueless when it came to courting. I just loved how much he doted on Hugo, even if the way he did it at the start was unconventional to say the least. He was a good man, um shark, and he treated his ship's crew with respect and honor. Once he obtained Hugo, he treated him even better. That isn't to say Hugo wasn't good to Roark too. They took care of each other in their own ways. Roark would try and spoil Hugo, while Hugo forced Roark to not work so much. To have a life outside of his duty. Even their communication issues didn't dampen this aspect of their relationship.

"𝙷𝚘𝚙𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚝𝚎𝚖𝚞𝚕𝚘𝚞𝚜, 𝚠𝚎𝚊𝚔 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐. 𝙱𝚞𝚝 𝚒𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚑𝚘𝚙𝚎. 𝙰𝚗𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜𝚗'𝚝 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙸'𝚍 𝚑𝚊𝚍 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚊 𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚐, 𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎."

My favorite scenes were when Roark would walk around with Hugo up on his shoulders. I thought it was the cutest thing. Any angst in this story was from outside sources, never the relationship. Yes, there were some miscommunications along the way, but those were settled without any craziness. I also snickered a lot at the planet names. Some took me a bit longer to figure out, but eventually I got the joke :). The author must have had fun coming up with those! This book was sweet and I enjoyed it just as much as the first book in the series by a different author. I hope these two won't be the only books written in this universe!

A big pink squishy softie and a sweet little cutie pie falling in love despite a huge language barrier.
I enjoyed it, most of it anyway. The ending wasn't quite right for me for some reason.

On a side note, if you enjoy a little size kink (no pun intended), this is for you!

“Huu-goh,” Roark murmured. It was just my name. I’d heard it a thousand times before. But…I’d never heard it spoken so softly. Like it was a full fucking sentence. Like it meant something to him—like he was…thanking me somehow.

Omg this was so cozy. It was a marshmallow. I cried a lot, because there were moments that just got to me.. not because of angst, but from how much I loved seeing Hugo and Roark experience happiness and the healing they did together. They were each other’s happy place, and seeing two characters who had such lonely lives get to find happiness and love brought me so much joy.

This is marketed as a pretty woman retelling. You tell me. A male human college student into robotics was abducted by aliens and forced to work on a stripper planet as a kind of sexworker slave. A pink gelatinous bipedal shark-squid man, who is the captain of his space craft, feels he cannot leave said human in such a situation after meeting him. Chaos should ensue. But it’s really all just a docile nightmare? Like slice of life, but make it space and horny.

The writing style was not my favorite. There should’ve been more world building. I would’ve liked if the names of things; planets, species, were not just scrambled misspelled english words. I think instead of campy it did the author a disservice and looked more lazy than anything else. Even though the story did not need to be 400 pages long, it had readability and I finished it in a day. Pacing was off. There were long drags of not much happening and then nearing 60 pages left we had conflict, ridiculously quick resolution and then an epilogue that said “three years later” but proceeded to detail what a day after the ending of the story was like. Editing is the biggest villain in this one.

Have you ever tried to eat a live octopus? Did watching the shape of water awaken some dormant freak flag inside you? Does jello do it for you? Like, could you find jello handsome? What about if you squint? Would you French kiss a snake if you could? How far would you let that tongue go? Would goojitsu be on your ‘hear me out cake’?

If you answered yes to any of these questions this book may be the one for you.

I wasn't originally a big fan of monster-human romances, but this story changed my mind. The worldbuilding and plot were both intriguing and entertaining. The relationship between Roark and Hugo was adorable, and the romance was just right. I hope the author also explores the story between Briar and his rogue shark pirate.

OMG WHAT A CUTE AND FLUFFY READ!! If you are looking for a low angst, super sweet romance between a downtrodden human and possibly the most adorable alien EVER, I HIGHLY recommend I'm Not Your Pet. Don't judge the book by the cover (or do, I read it BECAUSE of the cover) - pink shark monster Roarke might be EXTRA inhuman, but he's also the greenest of flags and I think that makes him pretty easy to accept. And despite being low angst overall, the story never drags and there are definitely quite a few exciting and tension-filled moments interspersed with the swoon. Get on your TBR IMMEDIATELY.

Y'all, Roarke and Hugo couldn't be more different - AND YET, they are so clearly soulmates from the moment they meet. Hugo has never felt like he was wanted or that he was enough. His backstory broke my heart. Watching him go from just getting through life to truly living after he finds Roarke had me tearing up multiple times. And then Roarke! I'm definitely an alien and monster romance fan, so I can get behind some pretty crazy stuff, but the way Fae Quin made me fall for a toothy, tentacle-y, squishy giant shark creature - that's impressive. Roarke is the sweetest, most intuitive, most generous MMC. He's so utterly devoted to Hugo and I was HERE FOR EVERY MOMENT. Oh and y'all, this book might have some of the best language barrier trope I've ever read. These guys cannot communicate AT ALL for a long time, but they come up with some incredibly sweet ways to express themselves to each other that I just loved.

This book is an absolute SWOONFEST, and I could have read more of them just being sweet to each other. And the spice, though definitely more alien than in contemporary romance, is simultaneously wild AND sweet - these guys are both consent KINGS. If you ever thought you might want to try alien or monster romance and you were unsure if you could handle it, this book is the one to try.

Series: Extra! Extraterrestrial #2
Cover: 5/5
Story: 5/5

This book is a delightful blend of humor, heart and thrilling space opera adventures across the stars.
Along the way, we meet all kinds of aliens and cultures, daring space pirates, a resilient and super-smart human, a stern yet caring tentacled sahrk captain, love, healing, belonging, and an endless supply of optimism and bamboo.

It’s the cutest, easiest read about a shark-like bipedal alien and a human finding love among the stars.

Genre/Trope:Adult/MM Alien Romance/ARC
Content/Trigger Warnings:
Plot: 5/5
POV: 1

Main Characters:
5/5 – Hugo “Cool?”, 21yo freckled human, cute, tiny, bright, curious, full of life, loves sweets.
5/5 – Captain Roark, 42yo pink sahrk, caring, quiet, serious, rule-sticker, planner, comanding, possessive, protective, kind, funny, bossy.

Hugo is a ball of positivity, so there's no stopping him... but there’s also a lot of sadness underneath his bright exterior. Despite everything he’s been through, he remains curious and full of life.
Roark, on the other hand, is haunted by his traumatic past and clings to control and routine as a way to keep his world steady. Always grunting and serious. That goofball!
But when Hugo enters his life, that implacable routine starts to crumble, a change he didn’t realize he desperately needed.

These two were the cutest and soooo funny.
I really liked how the author told their story. It was super original and different, and the language barrier was done in a unique way that I thoroughly enjoyed.
The idea of Roark’s spots changing colors in sync with his emotions was brilliant. I love that fuchsia was embarrassment.

Ufffff the steam in this book! From sex toys to tentacles (and 2 tentacle dicks), purring and humming (yes, humming is sexy!), dresses and tuxedos (and lingerie), this book was hot, hot, hot.
I'm a sucker (pun intended) for alien romances, so you add a language barrier, size difference, tentacles, manhandling, both virgins (with a stern but caring top with a daddy vibe and an insatiable smarty-pants brat bottom) and lingerie... I’m completely gone!

The age gap between the MCs was also immensely well done.
Their relationship felt equal and loving.
Hugo brings warmth and light into Roark’s carefully structured life.
While they take care of each other in ways neither of them expected, they build a connection that feels unshakable.

Together, they heal, they laugh, and they learn to love.

Side Characters: 5/5
Humor: High Focus
Angst: Medium Low Focus
Steam Level: 5/5
Romance: High Focus
Cheating?
Cons: I WANT MORE LINGIRIE SCENES!
The Ending: 5/5

!! I don't equate fiction stories to real life. It's a matter of personal taste and what you are willing or want to tolerate in the books you read. We all have different opinions and preferences when it comes to the kind of books we enjoy, so it's important to respect and remember that it's just a book!!

I was really excited to discover Fae's contribution to the saga she co-writes with Eryn Hawk, and I can only hope this doesn’t end here. Both authors have included supporting characters in their novels who have their own stories to tell. And I need to read them all!!

Overall, I think we can all agree that this book is adorable to the max. It's one of those beautifully crafted stories, filled with characters that are easy to love and a relationship brimming with challenges, starting with their communication barrier, of course.

Hugo, our human MC, was abducted from Earth three years before this story begins. Hoping to be returned to his home, he deliberately failed the test questions his captors asked him (if you haven’t read You're Not My King!, taht book provides a much clearer explanation of what happens to humans when they’re abducted, even though the two novels only share the same universe and a few cameos so it's not mandatory to read them both). Three years later, Hugo has a relatively stable life on a pleasure planet where he works as a stripper for the various aliens who pass through.

Roark, our sahrk alien MC, is a intergalactic merchant whose path crosses with Hugo's when his crew makes a stop on the planet where Hugo works. And one look, just one, is all it takes for him to know that Hugo is different from every other being he’s crossed in his life, and that this small, strange creature deserves all his protection and care.

To be honest, for a 400 page book, not much happens. I mean, it’s a story that focuses primarily on the romance; on how the relationship between Hugo and Roark begins, develops, and evolves into something beautiful and heartwarming.

This lack of action is the reason I’ve only rated it four stars, honestly. While it’s true that I never found it boring or tedious to read, it’s also true that not much happens.

That said, they are one of the most sweet yet least irritating couples I’ve come across. There’s no other way to describe them because, even when the communication barrier is so big that misunderstandings between them are inevitable, they’re absolutely adorable.

The upside of “not much happening” is that the book focuses a lot on them. Not just on their romance but also on them as individuals: what they like, what they fear, the differences between their two species, and, of course, how they work together in bed (let’s not forget about that!).

Just as with Eryn’s book, I’m left wanting Fae to write more books. I feel it’s absolutely necessary for both authors to start announcing their next books, even if they have no set release date yet. Just confirm that there will be more. Because Briar and Grimm deserve their own book, a story that lets us dive deep into how they met, the details of their journey, and, of course, see them get their happily ever after.

First 25% was great but then it felt disconnected from the original plot summary. There was so much flowery language that kept getting regurgitated for filler. Some pointless characters. Skimmed the last part till the ending and epilogue—spoiler it was a far stray from what I thought I’d get.

I waited a year for this and this felt like half hearted writing to me…

Also please look up a height comparison chart for the characters next time you write huge differences.

I mean, I got to say. Alien books are it for me.

There is just something about a human falling in love with a devoted shark alien with two "spears" that had me hooked.

Pretty was a word reserved for girls, action stars, and botanical gardens. It was a delicate word. Soft. It smelled like fresh cut fruit and springtime blossoms. If it had a sound, it’d ring like bells. Pretty was the shade of my mother’s lipstick. It wasn’t for me.

Hugo, my gosh, has gone through it all. Being neglected, being ignored, being abducted, being made a "special dancer", my guy didn't back down. He kept being optimistic regardless of his predicaments which lead him to finally being seen and loved as he so desperately needed to be.
He is also such a sweetheart, man, and even though he should've been scared out of his mind by being alone during this entire journey with Roack, he wasn't. He embraced his circumstances and took it one day at a time.

One thing I loved about him was the little tantrums he would have. Whenever that brattiness came forth my heart would melt when Roack accepted them and tried to soothe him rather than reprimand or snap at him.

He deserved to make this choice— even if it ached to know that this was out of my hands. I hated when I wasn’t in control. Especially when I wanted something. But for once in my life, I kept that feeling to myself.

Roack is such a giant teddy bear, like what the heck? Dude had me swooning and cooing the entire book. The overprotectiveness he had over Hugo is so sweet and the restrain he had when he would've liked things to be done his way was so admirable. He is a great leader and an even better lover.

Roack is the type of person you would want to hide from the world because of how precious his is.

But can we talk about his bad boys, though????? I was pleasantly surprised. Yep. Yes.

Maybe I was his pet, but at that moment, I didn’t fucking care. I was too fucked out, and too happy. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it had gotten me alien dick, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing.

This book did not disappoint.

Where do I even begin?! I had such an incredible time reading this book — I started dragging a bit as I neared the last couple of chapters because I didn’t want it to end and be over. :’(

I adore Roark + Hugo. I am smitten with them. I admire their strength and willingness to lead with kindness and compassion - despite the things that happened to them in their respective pasts. I love the respect that they have for one another, as well as their relationships with some of the side characters (Ushuu, Briar, etc.)

This might have been my first Fae Quinn story, but it certainly won’t be my last! :)

I’m so excited for Briar + Griff’s book! ♡

I’m Not Your Pet starts out funny with this strange new world and speak of pink alien 🍆 and a planet called F’ukYuu. Very quickly it becomes the sweetest thing ever. Hugo learning that he is worth love and that he is pretty. Roark learning that he can have love and can learn to give up a bit of control. Both of them growing together with a giant language barrier between them in literal outer space. This is a wild journey full of huge smiles, happy squeals, and feet kicks… or maybe that was just my own experience. Anywho, read this book! 😍

The characters and the overall cuteness of this book is 5 stars … but I don’t love the writing style of it. Many scenes were recalled in an inner monologue instead of actually being shown and then the tenses just got confusing

Other than that, this book was sweet and wonderful and I adore these two endlessly

I said it got weird (no judgemental to anyone seeing this that likes this kind of thing, I'm just really curious about people's kinks, and you can find this isn't the first monster smut book I've read)....I don't even know what the weirdest one is, and yes, I have read 6 books already this year and yes, i did actually like this and find it cute...

I was almost going to give this book 3 stars but thankfully the epilogue gave me what I wanted lol this book was fun and cute, a little bloated but I don’t mind it when the vibe is this warm and cozy. I loved Roark, wouldn’t mind my own dp shark daddy lol

I'm Not Your Pet

Hugo and Roark

I love this world the author has created. Hugo was so open-minded, considering his circumstances. His character was great. Roark was just as amazing. So caring and the ultimate mate for Hugo. I can't wait for the next book!
