Heart of Montana #5

Meeting Miss Mystic

Rate this book
High school principal Paul Johansson has never been lucky in love, which is too bad, because few men in Montana are more naturally romantic. Then his friend Maggie signs him up for Internet dating, and while Paul is initially furious, he’s soon blown away by Holly Morgan, a blonde, blue-eyed art teacher from Connecticut. She might just be the girl of his dreams.

Zoe Flannigan—aka Holly Morgan—totally forgot about the account she set up two years ago on Meet-the-One.com. In fact, after an accident that left her physically and emotionally scarred, she hasn’t been up for meeting or dating anyone. Until she meets Paul who is handsome, sweet, and too-good-to-be-true. But while the built-in anonymity of the Internet offers a buffer, she can’t hide in cyberspace forever, either from Paul’s expectations or herself. There’s a journey she must take, and at the end of it will be a love as beautiful and boundless as the wide Montana sky.

Let me say, the first chapter was one of my favorites. It was a such nice break from so many of the alpha male, haters of relationships, avoiders of commitment, man-whores of the world, books that are out there. While those books have their place and can be quite fun to read, this time around, I was thrilled to get the flip side - sweet, romantic, Principle Paul's story. Finally a guy who actually wants a relationship!! Paul was such a treat to read about. He was so sweet and so genuine, yet he still maintained all of his masculinity. He wasn't perfect, and I was worried about him for a bit there, but I wanted him to find his happily-ever-after just as much as he did.

And Holly/Zoe... oh girl, you made me struggle! I had lots of mixed feelings about her. On the one hand, I could really appreciate her internal and external struggles. She's so insecure and so broken. What's she's been through? Not easy! Not easy at all. And her struggles aren't even over yet. She's been living in a dark place, wracked with guilt and highly insecure about the changes in her body, so when Paul's light shines on her, she equally shines with it and hides from the truth. But there are many missed opportunities for honesty. Which brings us to the other hand. She is hiding certain highly important truths from Paul, and at a certain point I just wanted to shake her. Hug her, pep talk her, and then shake her again.

Which brings me to the story. Honestly, midway through I wasn't sure how I was feeling about this book and its direction. I've loved every single one of Katy Regnery's books, so my gut was clenching that I'd discovered the first book of hers I was going to hate. But I hung in there, and you know what? I ended up loving it! I loved the risks that were taken and how Katy brought everything together. I won't tell you how, but I was really impressed. I loved Paul and Zoe! I loved the way their characters and their story developed, and the depths that were taken to get there. (And I loved their texts and emails!) I loved their hearts, their vulnerability, their chemistry. My doubts were completely won over.

While this can be read as a standalone, I really loved seeing returning characters from the previous books in this series. I love the community feel of these novels. I love revisiting the couples from before, as well as getting hints about the next novel. I loved how everyone helped each other out. I loved them all! But I also loved that the other characters did not overshadow the main couple. I'm a big city girl, but books like this almost make me want to move to a small town just like Gardiner (or at least come for an extended visit). I'm super excited about the Nils and Maggie's book next!!

Whoooo hoo our QUEEN OF ROMANCE is back with the next part of the Heart of Montana stories. I was s glad to be back in this world and read about all the characters again, especially Jane and Lars. I love them so much in See Jane Fall and didn’t want to let them go, so it was awesome that they were in some of the scenes.

For once the Heart of Montana book is not about a Lindstrom sibling (they’re always there anyway…), no it’s about our lovely principle Paul, who was madly in love with Jenny Lindstrom, but she married someone else.
He is best friends with Lars and Maggie and Maggie has enough of Paul being single and miserable, so she opens an online dating account for him.

I loved getting to know Paul better. I have to say that I didn’t really like him in jenny’s book, but then he was so nice to Jane in the last book and now finally his character and personality came through. As a teacher myself it’s always interesting when a character in a book has the same profession. Paul is really passionate about his job and just wants the best for the children. He went through a lot looking for love and it was really hard for him. It was great to read about his feelings and emotions and one could feel that they were real.

Now there is Zoe, or Miss Mystic or Holly. Well, in her online account is says Holly and she’s a beautiful blonde with blue eyes. Not anymore, she has changed a lot: tattoos, black hair, brown eyes… As a reader we find out soon what happened to her and why she changed so much. It’s a sad and tragic story and she’s still struggling with it.

Holly/Zoe and Paul start exchanging messages and eventually they also talk on the phone. Their relationship develops beautifully just with their messages and phone calls, they were falling for each other, but then Paul wants to visit her…
Zoe is shocked and scared, because she lied about her name and her picture. After talking to her aunt she decides to go to Montana and tell him the truth. However, that’s not as easy as she thought it would be and she doesn’t say a world.

Paul sees himself falling for Zoe as well, but what about Holly? This whole mess gets really complicated, but love and the feelings were always in the foreground. Zoe can’t get herself to tell him and I was glad she had Maggie and then also Nils to talk to.

Their lovestory was so sweet, intense and deep. I love how Katy found a way to express their chemistry from both of their perspectives. We got to know both characters and their emotions, which was great and brought a pleasant change into the story. Some of their scenes were really romantic and passionate, which I loved.

Katy created a wonderful and brilliant story, taking me into this world of Montana again. The surroundings were beautiful and seemed so real, I couldn’t put the book down, I was addicted to Paul’s and Zoe’s story. WOW WOW WOW, you did an amazing job with this one Katy!!! ♥♥♥

I can’t wait for Nils’ and Maggie’s story!!!!

Meeting Miss Mystic is a sweet and entertaining love story!

I’ve loved the Heart of Montana characters since the inception of this series with each story burrowing its way into my heart, and Paul and Zoe’s story has done the same. From the moments of the book as I sat reading the words with a smile on my face to the instances when the words blurred from the tears of emotion welling up in my eyes, Ms. Katy has once again touched my heart and my life with this amazingly sweet and entertaining story of finding love.

Paul Johansson has a habit of always falling for the wrong woman. When his friend surprises him by signing him up for and responding to a dating ad on the internet in hopes of helping Paul find the right woman, he is initially furious. That is until he sees the picture of Miss Mystic (aka Zoe/Holly), and he is immediately mesmerized. As they begin to exchange emails and text messages, Paul is quickly convinced he has found the woman he had always been hoping to find.

Zoe Flannigan had forgotten all about the internet dating profile she set up two years ago, before the tragic accident which changed her life forever leaving her in a dark world of sorrow and regret. But when she unexpectedly receives a response to her ad and begins to develop an internet relationship with Paul, a high school principal from Montana, Zoe starts to recover some of her old self. But she always believed it would never be anything more than that as she continued to hide behind the face of the bright happy woman she used to be which is reflected in the photo she posted. But as Paul and Zoe’s cyber relationship begins to grow, Zoe comes to the realization that she can’t continue to hide behind technology, taking a leap of faith and trusting in their love, hoping they will both come through with their hearts and souls fused together forever.

How does Katy keep doing this? She writes characters of such depth and complexity always drawing me in making me feel as though I am part of their lives. And Meeting Miss Mystic is no exception. I’ve loved Paul from the beginning and was thrilled when he was given a love story of his own, and Zoe is absolutely his perfect match in every way. I guess I tend to get a bit emotional when I read because I am pulled into the lives of the characters on the pages of Katy’s books which makes me feel and experience the deepness of the love they discover with each other as their story progresses. I always seem to find myself with mixed feelings of wanting to read faster so I can find out how this tale of love will end while simultaneously continuing to pause wanting it to last forever wishing to remain in their lives for as long as I can.

Bravo to you Katy. You have once again written and charming and beautiful love story.

Hands-down 5+ stars! I love Katy's sweet, sweet stories! She captures the essence of love and delivers it to her readers so perfectly, her books are like fairy-tales for adults. I would gladly shove a laptop in her lap, and have her write my HEA! HA!

We've caught glimpses of Principal Paul over the last few books in the Heart of Montana series, and I'm so glad to have finally read his story! How the author describes him, he's way more handsome than I thought when I first read about him in By Proxy , that's for sure! It was hilarious with the way his in-your-face friend Maggie meddled with his life and finally puts him up on an online-dating website! Oh the nerve, but I loved it!! He needed that shove. The E-mails that went back and forth between Paul and Zoe was adorable, and accurate as far as the world of online-dating goes. I found myself getting excited just as they would when a new message would come thru for either one of them.

I really, really liked Zoe's character. She's not perfect, she's made some mistakes and thought that her life was basically over. So much so, that she was succumbing to living the rest of her life in a shadow of her former self, until one day she got a notification on a website that principalpaul wanted to meet her. I also loved the little “sisterly touch” that was added to this story, it was very sweet. Having an older sister that has children, I found myself thinking a lot about whether I would have acted the same way Zoe did if I were in her shoes.

I enjoyed this book very much, it was very neat to see the same conversations that we've read in the other books in this series take place in a different perspective. That was a nice touch! Like I've said before, even though we're read thru some of the returning characters' stories, it's so neat to see them make cameos all thru-out the series. Now we just need Maggie and Nil's story! But at the same time, I don't want to rush it, because that will mean that the Heart of Montana will be complete. Unless the author comes up with more! I'd be okay with that!!!

Thank you Ms. Regnery, for gifting me this ARC!

What another fabulously written HEA. Katy's stories just keep getting better and better. Meeting Miss Mystic is book 5 of the Heart of Montana Series. principle Paul is bound and determined to get his happily ever after one way or another. So why not go the internet route and meet someone on line. I mean what could he possible lose. Holly (Zoe) thought the same thing. Sure she has had a terrible few years and changed up her lifestyle a bit, but she to was interested in finding love. Can a long distance relationship work? Can Paul and Holly find the love that they are looking for? Does appearance really matter? The heart will only tell in this fabulous love story.

I received an ARC from the Author for an honest opinion.

I just can't get enough of Katy Regnery's sweet, sweet romance. This is the fifth time visiting Montana and with Zoe and Paul's story, yet another piece of the puzzle is unraveled. It took me a little bit longer than usual to really get into the story, but from them moment I did.. I just couldn't put it down. Yet another Katy novel that has kept me up all night. Love it. She did a wonderful job - again - with her characters. They have a history, a real, well thought out personality and are easy to relate to. The chemistry and/or love connection between them is so intense... I spent my night in Gardiner, Montana, rather than my bed.
I can't wait to return to Montana.

While this is the fourth book in the Heart of Montana series, it can be read as a stand-alone.

Zoe Holly Flannigan is a complex character. She was in a wreck a couple of years ago so throughout the duration of the story we get to see three sides of her. First there’s the pre-accident Zoe who was sunny and carefree. She taught art and enjoyed going out with her friends. Then the second aspect of her is post collision when she is dark and brooding. So full of guilt, she often finds herself with self-destructive tendencies. No longer an art teacher, she does web development for a small firm where she only interacts mostly with one other person. The final part of her is when she truly begins to heal. Zoe becomes an amalgam of her two previous personas, still feeling remorseful but also living for the first time in years.

After running from his indifferent and wealthy family, Paul found himself starting a new life as a principal in Montana instead of an attorney in Boston. He is a true romantic but unfortunately he’s been passed over more than once by what he thought were loves of his life. Just as he’s ready to give up the search, his friend Maggie has set him up with a girl on the internet. The problem is she is in New England.

Much of the story is about two people getting to know each other before they physically meet. How much of what they say is true versus what they want to be the truth? In many ways it’s also about preconceived notions, misconceptions, and the lack of correcting those until it’s too late. For the first time in years, Zoe has light at the end of her dark tunnel and all she wants is to be the happy person she was before the accident and be that person with Paul. She sets out to physically get back to that person before meeting Paul thinking he’ll be none the wiser. Regrettably, he puts a kink in her plan when he decides he’s going to show up the weekend before her final plastic surgery instead of the originally projected Christmas date. Now in a desperate attempt to save what they’ve built, she goes to Montana to explain. Will he still give her a chance?

I’ve fell in love with Katy’s writing back when I read Playing for Love (Review: Playing for Love at Deep Haven by Katy Regnery). She easily conveys enormously emotional stories and this is no exception. I remember tearing up in the first book and a little more with each new one. With this one, I won’t even try to hide the tears because they were sprinkled throughout. It is gut-wrenching to see how Zoe can’t move past an accident and continues to find ways to punish herself. Perhaps even worse, is how she believes she doesn’t deserve happiness or love. Unexpectedly, Paul has ideal complimentary traits to open her up and allow Zoe’s vulnerabilities of her lack of perfection to be assuaged. It is astonishing to read the flawed humanness and how it develops into prolific connection.

I love reading Katy Regnery books.
I know they are going to be sweet. I know they are going to make me smile. I know I'm going to like (if not love) the characters. I know that no matter the obstacles thrown in the path of true love everything will somehow work out, that after the emotional kick-around I'll get a beautiful happy ever after...
And Meeting Miss Mystic was the perfect example.

It runs alongside See Jane Fall and is the story of sexy-ass principle Paul who is a serious romantic (with a princess bride fascination) desperately in need of his princess to love, cherish and live happily ever after with.
His well intentioned but meddling friend, Maggie, hooks him up with a lovely lady online - "Holly" - and he thinks he has found her - his blue eyed, blonde haired princess.
However, the road to happy ever after is never as simple as only having to overcome a few thousand miles of distance between the lovebirds.
Nope!
Holly aka Zoe has been a wee bit duplicitous in her interactions with Paul.
Due to a horrible accident she is no longer the person she is representing herself to be (cue the roadblocks, hurdles and hoops).
Can Paul forgive Zoe her untruths? Will love conquer all?
Simple answer - of course!

Their story is absolutely gorgeous.
It's about loving the heart of a person before falling for their wrappings.
It's about love and forgiveness, not just loving and forgiving another person but, in Zoe's case, learning to forgive and love herself. It's about taking a long hard look at who you are and what you want and being brave enough to go for it.
It is a story that flows smoothly, is written beautifully and completely sucks you into the lives of all involved.
It was a joy and a pleasure to read and if you are wanting to read an unashamedly romantic story that will leave you with fluttery feels and a big smile then I strongly recommend you read this book!

Paul Johansson is a true romantic at heart. He longs to fall in love and be the knight in shining armor for his one true love. The woman who will not only captivate his heart but his mind, body and soul as well. He just can’t seem to find the right woman he is what one would deem unlucky in love. He has great friends who love to meddle in his love life because they want to see him happy. Thru his meddlesome friend Maggie is how he came to “meet” Miss Mystic. Zoe Holly Flannigan has had a rough time of it the past two years. An accident has changed her in more ways than one. She no longer feels worthy of love or happiness and has changed her outward appearance to reflect these feelings. Out of the blue she receives an e-mail that gives her hope again. As she starts to get to know Paul over various e-mails, texts and phone calls she knows she is falling and falling fast. She also knows that she is being deceptive and has to come clean at some point but is terrified of losing Paul. Paul loves Holly and can’t wait to meet her. However when he tells her he is going to visit she isn’t exactly thrilled. Confused he doesn’t know what to do. The choice is quickly taken out of his hands when Zoe decides to go to him instead. She starts her trip with the best of intentions’ going to Montana to tell him that she is not exactly the same person whose profile he saw on the dating site. As with all good intentions it doesn’t exactly work the way she hopes it would. In a series of unbelievable events she meets him before she can gather the courage to tell him the truth. Once she meets him she wants to get to know him before possibly losing him forever. Like all secrets though hers comes out and things go from interesting to captivating. This is a wonderful tale of loss, love, and new beginnings. Definite must read.

Meeting Miss Mystic is the fourth novel in Katy Regnery's Heart of Montana series. If you have been keeping up with the series this book takes place at the same time as See Jane Fall. It is another sweet story, however this one seems to have a bit of a kick in the pants. Not so much in the sex department (being that this is still a sweet heat novel) but because there are two HUGE stories behind the main characters Paul and Zoe.
The main players in this book are Paul Johanssen and Zoe Flannigan.

Paul is the best friend of Lars Lindstrom. He is the Principal of the school in Gardiner, MT, a transplant from the east coast high society hoity toity family. He has been having trouble finding his "Buttercup" he thought he had found her in Jenny Lindstrom, however he was friend zoned. Maggie, the owner of the local coffee shop, has been fixing Paul up on dates and it backfires. So without his knowledge she creates a profile for him on a dating website and personally vets the women who show interest. There is one that peaks her interest so correspondence commences.

Here comes "Holly" though she goes by Zoe now, has had a rough couple of years and has ended up in a really dark place. She created a profile on a dating website before her horrific accident. She isn't looking to get in to a relationship because she doesn't think that she deserves to be happy after everything that happened. However she ends up finding a ray of sunshine with Paul.

Through a small bit of deception, can Zoe and Paul have their happily ever after, There are some things that Zoe needs to do before she can fully commit herself to a relationship and I think that people should read this book.

"Meeting Miss Mystic" started out with getting to know "Principal Paul". He is unlucky in love and is looking for his Buttercup (his favorite movie is The Princess Bride). Until his friend Maggie stepped in, he wasn't sure he was going to find her. Maggie took the initiative to sign him up for internet dating and even picked out the "perfect girl" for him. He didn't realize that this girl would actually be the love of his life.

Zoe Holly Flannigan wasn't looking for love. In fact, she wasn't looking for much of anything since her accident. When she "met" Principal Paul she fell head over heels in love with him, like the sun starting shining again. The only problem is that she was lying about who she is now. Paul has only seen what she looks like before her accident.

This is one of those books that proves that true love can conquer anything. You may know your type and what you're looking for, but you could be completely wrong about it. Of course there were moments in the book when I wanted to scream, but there were also moments when I laughed and cried. Katy is so good at portraying emotions. She can make you feel anything along with her characters. This is especially true in her "Heart Of Montana" books where you feel like you know each and every character intimately.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series "What Were You Expecting?" and catch up with the Lindstrom family!

Meeting Miss Mystic is another great book in this series!

Paul Johansson and Zoe Flannigan (aka Holly Morgan) “meet” on the online dating site Meet-the-One.com. There have been other online dating stories but Meeting Miss Mystic has a surprising twist. This is what I love about the author Katy Regnery. Her stories are creative and unique which makes her stand out in a very competitive genre.
Paul and Zoe have been unlucky in love and in life. So it is always great seeing two people that have had gone through pain to find happiness in each other. The email and text exchanges between Paul and Zoe were written with humor and flirtation. I felt the excitement and butterflies these characters were feeling. Their correspondences were so well written it was as if the characters were speaking face-to-face instead of miles away. This story had me laughing, crying and sighing from all the romance.

This is the fourth book of the Heart of Montana series but it can be read as a standalone. Meeting Miss Mystic overlaps with the last book, See Jane Fall, so it was fun to read some behind the scenes that involved Lars and his building romance with Jane. I loved seeing the Gardiner locals that have become my favorite characters. I can’t wait to read more from this series, especially Nils and Maggie’s story.

I recommend this book to all romance fans.

Another 5 star read by Author Katy Regnery. This was a wonderfully written compelling story of moving on after tragedy. I loved the concept, meeting on-line, getting to know each other before a face to face. Can Paul and Zoe in real life live up to their on-line personas? We have gotten to know Paul a bit in previous Heart of Montana books. It is so nice he has his own story now. Zoe, bless her heart, you can't help but love her. I highly recommend this series, you will not be disappointed.

Dear Katy,
I know that I should probably change this up and write to one of your characters but it's just too hard to write a review for one of your books without gushing about how amazing you are. Which means it's just easier to write directly to you.
I fall in love with each of your books because they are the same, but each one is different. I should probably explain. What I mean is that each of your books has a unique storyline and every character is different from the next, in turn, keeping my interest with each new release. At the same time each story is the same because they are all well-written and smart with that perfect blend of sweet heat that I've come to expect from you. Although each character has their own personality they are all similar in the fact that they are caring and warm, intelligent and strong, as well as gorgeous. Especially those darn Lindstrom siblings. These facts make each new release of yours exciting and, quite frankly, refreshing considering the abundance of bad boys and broken girls in the book world lately. I love them too but sometimes it's great to just read a nice, real romance.
Meeting Miss Mystic falls perfectly in line with this pattern of yours. While I wasn't a huge fan of Paul in the past HOM books (he always seemed be causing some trouble with the star couples of them), I was happy to be able to read his story and hope for his happy-ever-after. Admittedly though, in the beginning he came off sort of cheesy and shallow to me. The female who seems to easily fall in and out of love is a pretty regular occurrence, but Paul being a man that is a sucker for love and romance through me off for a minute. He did seem to go on and on about the thought of a beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman being his dream but that's easy to understand after reading where the thought stemmed from. Thanks Hollywood. Just kidding. Anyways, he did redeem himself and I kind of fell for his soft side because he also had a sort of alpha, protective side too. I think that Holly/Zoe is exactly who Paul needed, even when he never saw her coming.
Every time I finish another HOM novel I find myself craving the next one to come out. I'm really dying for Nils and Maggie's story. I can't help but think that he might be my favorite Lindstrom brother when all is said and done.

Until Next Time,
Jaime

Fall in love with falling in love.

“…nothing – not a little distance or a very unconventional meeting – could stop the course of true love”

Meeting Miss Mystic is a true modern day love story. High School Principal, Paul, is unknowingly set up on a dating website by his friend, Maggie. While he is initially completely turned off by the idea, he is soon ‘turned on’ by seeing a woman he believes is perfect for him – Holly Morgan. She’s a teacher, blonde, funny, never married and a devoted family woman. Paul is struck by her beauty and decides to give in and contact Holly himself.

Holly is not what she seems…she’s Zoe, a dark haired, tattooed graphic designer recovering from a car accident that injured both her and her nephew. Regardless of her name, she falls for Paul in a very real way via text message, phone calls and emails. (And trust me readers, you’ll fall right along with her!)

But, when Zoe decides to travel to Paul’s turf and confess her true identity, will her heart be broken? Can Paul love the dark-haired vixen standing before him or is his heart set on the perfect blonde he’s lusted over for weeks?

If Katy Regnery didn’t fall in love online…she certainly knows how to write about it! While I didn’t meet my husband online, we did exchange many emails and text messages when we first met and Katy has captured that “virtual love” feeling perfectly in Meeting Miss Mystic. As always, she develops her characters at the perfect pace – bringing the story to life in so many ways (with a few twists and turns thrown in for good measure). This book reminds us all that true beauty is often found beneath the surface and allows us to believe it really is possible to fall in love with someone before ever meeting them in person.

I’ve highlighted MANY pieces of this book, but here is my favorite solely because I got butterflies when I read this ~
“It shouldn’t be possible to feel like this after a week.
It shouldn’t be possible to feel like this about someone you’ve never met in person.
It shouldn’t be possible to feel like this about someone two thousand miles away.”

Meeting Miss Mystic is a perfect summer read that will make you believe in fate, destiny and the winding road that can sometimes lead to true love.

This was a nice, sweet, enjoyable read. Though this is the fourth book in the Heart of Montana series but this can be read as a standalone since the books are about different couples. In this story, we are focused on Paul and Zoe. Principal Paul got his heart broken in the first book so it was nice to see that he was getting his own romance. Paul has not had good luck when it came to love but it seemed that might change. His friend Maggie had signed him up for an online dating site and corresponded with Holly. When Paul saw a picture of Holly he was immediately enchanted. So now Paul begins to talk with Holly(who goes by Zoe now) and they embark on this long-distance romance. They seem to be getting along really well and it just might be love for them. But will a secret and long-distance cut short their romance or will the two find their happily-ever-after?

It was really great to read a story that was full of more romance then drama. It was a nice change for me. Katy wrote excellent characters in Paul and Zoe as well as the surrounding cast. Both Paul and Zoe were sweet and adorable. I loved reading their exchanges and see the progression of their relationship. I was rooting for them and hoping that everything would work out. The story had grabbed me from the beginning and I didn't stop reading until the end. If you like a beautiful romance filled with great characters and plot then you should read this story. This was sweet romance and I enjoyed it!

I was so lucky to receive this book in exchange for a honest review. I have to say I have loved all the books in this series and I was excited to see that Paul was getting his own story. If you haven't read the other books (shame one you) then you'll want to read them first before reading this one. It is NOT a standalone book!!!

I inhaled this book, it was so easy to read and the witty banter back and forth between the two in their messages on Meet the One .com were cute, also the texting. I'm a sucker for flirty and sweet guys and Paul doesn't disappoint. He's open and honest and deserves love. Getting over Jenny, has been hard on him.

Zoe (aka Holly, aka Miss Mystic) isn't the same girl that she was when she made her dating profile on MTO, but things have happened that have changed her forever. She feels bad that she is in essence lying to Paul. Shes not the blond smiley girl in her profile picture anymore, but yet she can't deny the attraction she has to him. She knows she needs to say something but shes afraid.

I loved watching them get to know each other. The author has a way of making you feel like you're in the book. I got all the butterfly feelings of new love when I was reading this book. I promise if you've read the others in the series then you will love this one just as much. Don't forget to leave the author love in the form of a review!!

High school principal Paul Johansson has been tricked into online dating. Since he has not had luck in dating in the past, his friend secretly set up an online account without him knowing . At first Paul is made, but now that his friend found him Holly, he is kind of happy. See, Holly is everything Paul is looking for in a women. They like the same movies, have lots of things in common, laugh at the same jokes. Too bad she is in Connecticut and he is in Montana.

There is also another downside. Holly is a mess. She is hiding in a shell of her old self. An accident has left her both physically and emotionally scarred. Holly has used an old picture for her online dating profile. She does not want Paul to see what she looks like now. To be honest, she is not even sure why she is on the website, since she is not looking for a relationship.

Holly and Paul are perfect for each other, but Holly is not letting go of her past. She feels a need to punish herself for an accident that wasn't her fault. After a few bumps in the road, can Holly and Paul make a go of a relationship that seemed like soul mates meeting through an unconventional way??

I like this series. It is a feel good romance. I can't wait to see what else is going to happen in Montana !!

I've had the pleasure to speak with the author a bit and she informed me of Principal Pauls book - Which i am totally looking forward to reading -because handsome Principal Paul needs his own happy ending- I absolutely LOVE this series. There is so much detail and love put into each story that you cant help but feel like part of it. That is one of my favorite things about reading books. The emotion they bring out in you. The way they can pull you into the story and make you feel as if you and your book are one. I am very excited to read this book! And am extremely grateful to the author who was able to put so much effort and time and love into creating such a wonderful world. I cant wait to return to Montana:) <3

Back to Montana again to tell Principal Paul's story this time, and I tell you, it's a winner! Zoe is the edgiest of my Heart of Montana heroines so far...little does Paul know, she's just what he was looking for! :)

I love this story so much...I love giving a good character rejected by one character (in BY PROXY) his chance to find his very own happily ever after. I also love touching on internet dating which is so prevalent these days. It was certainly a fun book to write! :)

I hope you love Paul and Zoe's story too!!

Ok, I thought the last one in this series was my favourite, but I think this has just pipped "See Jane Fall' to the post! This is the story of Zoe and Paul. Paul meets Holly through an online dating website (thanks to his friend Maggie) and falls hard and fast. He decides to visit her, tells her this, and she begins to panic: she panics because she isn't who he thinks she is. So she decides to pre-empt his visit to rectify her half-truths.
I won't go into the storyline anymore, but I did really, really like this. Well worth a read!!

DNF 55%

I thought I could do this but apparently I can't... I had the most horrible week EVER. I was stressed out, sad, tired, quite a mess most of the time and so even though I had A LOT of time to read, I couldn't concentrate on ANYTHING really. I sat and done very little so it took me awhile to get into this book. There is something very relevant for this book in my life. As I've been single for a while, and since I also have an account on a dating site I could totally relate to Paul and Zoe's situation. At first I felt a pang of longing for finding someone like Paul, it feels as though most guys don't know what they want and if they do we are not a match for some other reason. But as the story progressed I realized Paul is so very like these guys who look for a fantasy that doesn't really exist, and in the end I found I dislike both Zoe and Paul but moreover, if I was in either of their shoes I wouldn't have wanted the other.

Let's back up a little bit. We've met Paul before. He was in love with Jenny for a few years before he "lost her" to Sam Kelley (in the first installment). Living in a small town means finding your other half might be more difficult.. (so little to chose from..) and so even though Maggie was doing her best to look for someone for him, it didn't work out. On her last resort, Maggie made Paul an account on a dating site and even matched him up with the sweet Holly. Paul was HIGHLY annoyed with Maggie at first, but once he saw Holly, and after her read Maggie and Holly's transactions he decided to give it a fair chance even though she lives VERY far away from Gardner.

Paul is a true romantic, he is looking for a Princess really, he wants to be the Westly to his Buttercup, and if you are a fan of "The Princess Bride" like me (Paul and Zoe..) you'll totally get what that means. He wants a pretty, sweet, gentle girl. Not too complicated, sunny and preferably blond with blue eyes - like Jenny, but also like the beautiful Buttercup (Robin Wright). From her pretty picture, this is who Holly IS, and Paul is sucked into his own fairytale even if he only shared a virtual space with Holly. Texting, talking on the phone. She was everything he wanted.

Yet Holly or rather Zoe (middle name Holly), is FAR from who Paul thinks she is.. She made her profile two years ago when she WAS the pretty sunny girl Paul have been interested in, but now, with brown contacts, black dyed hair, a scar on her face and a limp due to more scarring on her leg, she is a shell of the girl she has been before the accident that cost her nephew's legs. Yet Paul keeps reminding her who she USED to be, making her smile, making her HAPPY, for the first time in SUCH a long time.

It all gets more complicated as Paul decides to visit her sooner than she was ready.. They talked about Christmas, by then she could have dyed her hair blond again (her natural color), replaced the contacts, made her last surgery for the scar on her face, and lost the weight she gained. She could be his Holly again.. The person she used to be.. yet he bought a ticket for two months from now and if he arrives in Mystic seeing a girl he doesn't recognize he'll just go back home and never agree to see her again. Her only choice as she sees it is going to Gardiner FIRST, telling him the truth where he can't really run from her, she'll have more time to talk to him, to explain and make him realize she is the girl he fell for even if she looks a bit different (and she was hiding from him a little bit more about her family, job and yeah, appearance).

I enjoyed seeing Paul and Zoe / Holly fall for one another. There was something so very sweet about them. They both deserved to be loved and find someone who can appreciate them for who they are. Yet once Zoe came to Gardiner it got SO messed up I ended up disliking both of them, right until the place (55% into the book) I decided I don't want to see them get a HEA because I wouldn't be able to trust EITHER of them in a relationship.

See, when Zoe comes to Gardiner she loses the nerve of telling Paul who she truly is, and Paul, instead of being no more than mildly interested in the new girl in town who came to paint in Yellowstone Park, feel deeply attracted to her and even acts upon his attracting. HELLO??? are you a 15 years old kid? You have made a COMMITMENT to someone else, someone you claim you love, even if you haven't met her, yet you kiss the first girl who looks at you? If I was Zoe, I wouldn't want a guy like that, someone I couldn't even trust when I'm not around.. Yet Zoe isn't better, she lies and deceives Paul EVERY step of the way, making him torment about his bad behavior even though he is technically not cheating on Holly.. A true mess. Paul is having trouble deciding who he wants, the "fantasy girl" - Holly, who is everything he wanted and the "real girl" - sad and complicated Zoe, which shows exactly how immature he is and anyhow Zoe is FAR from the courageous girl he thinks she is, she just does what's best for her no matter who gets in her way.

So yeah, I'm sorry, cheaters / deceivers is something I HATE in real life as well as in novels. Paul and Zoe deserve to spend their time either with each other (while they're not even faithful with one another..) or alone, but either way, I'm not interested in hearing their story. I'm sorry Katy, though I LOVED so so many of your books, this one is NOT for me.

Pov: male & female

Main characters: Paul & Zoe

Minor characters: Holly (Zoe's online profile name), Maggie (his best friend); Nils, Lars & Jane (his friends), Brandon (her nephew), Thea (her sister), Sandy (her aunt)

My thoughts:

I loved this one. I loved that Paul was such a romantic, and that he recognized how he seemed fixated on looks.

The heartbreak and guilt that Zoe felt was so real and well done. And it was so different from the issues everyone else was dealing with.

I really liked the guilt Paul was dealing with when he met Zoe and developed feelings while dating Holly. And I liked the guilt she felt knowing he was feeling guilty.

I liked how everyone else's storylines are woven through this one a little bit. There's moments where he notices something between Nils and Maggie but doesn't know what it is. It keeps you interested and updated on everyone else without feeling like they're taking away from the main couple.

It was another well done emotional book with characters that were fleshed out.

Synopsis:

Paul grew up in a wealthy family that wanted him to become a lawyer. He was a romantic and dreamed about finding a beautiful blond girl to marry, like the main character did in his favorite movie The Princess Bride.

When he got older he wanted to be a teacher. He got tired of his families expectations and shallowness and left the family. He moved to Montana and became principal of the local high school. He still wanted to fall in love but it the town was small and there weren't many women.

He fell in love with Jenny, Lars & Nils sister, but she didn't return his feelings (book 1). She got married and moved away and he mourned what they didn't have. His friend Maggie decided to sign him up for online dating and met Holly.

She contacted Holly and they exchanged a few messages. Maggie explained she was looking for someone nice for her friend Paul. Holly thought he sounded nice and agreed to meet Paul online.

Maggie told Paul and he was angry at first. She explained she just wanted to help and showed him Holly. It was love at first site.

Zoe lost her mother to cancer and was taken in by her Aunt Sandy. She was extremely close to her sister Thea.

She was an artist and became an art teacher. A friend suggested she try online dating so she set up an account. A week later she picked up her nephew Brandon to drop him off with Sandy. She noticed his car seat belt was broken but was in a hurry to meet her coworkers for happy hour so she used the regular seatbelt. They were in a car accident.

Brandon lost both his legs and Zoe had giant scars in her face and down her leg. She felt tremendously guilty and once she was in the clear Thea refused to see her.

Zoe was devastated and depressed. She started gaining weight and dyed her hair black. She got brown contacts. She became a bit of a recluse.

She forgot all about the online account until she got a message saying it would be inactivated due to inactivity. She logged on and found a message from Maggie. She responded and Maggie told her all about Paul.

He contacted Holly and told her how pretty she was and that he hoped she would write back. She thought he was incredibly nice but felt guilty that she wasn't the girl from the photo anymore. He tells her how great it could be to build a relationship on truth. She feels incredibly guilty but likes talking to him.

They become friends and have a "date" where they each see the same movie at the same time in their own theaters. They exchange numbers and start texting.

He asks if he can call her and they spend 2 hours on the phone. They're both falling for each other, and they both have concerns that it's too fast.

Over the next weeks they fall into a pattern and text and call each other all the time. He wants to see her in person and starts suggesting he go out to visit over Christmas break.

She's hesitant but thinks that's enough time to get herself closer to the girl from the photo. She starts dieting and makes plans to get her hair blond again. She has a surgery in October that will make her facial scar smaller and her doctor says she can get a new clear contact prescription once the surgery is done.

He can't wait until Christmas and considers going to see her in October. His friends are all supportive so he books his flights.

He tells her he's coming in October and she panics. He tries to explain he's falling for her but she stops him. She feels guilty and thinks once he sees her and finds out she lied he won't want anything to do with her. She doesn't want to lose him.

She asks for time to think about it and he thinks he pushed her too fast.

She tells Sandy what happened and that she's scared he won't understand why she lied. Sandy tells her to go see him in Montana so he can't ignore her. She's still concerned about her appearance and Sandy tells her if Paul is as good as she says he is her looks won't matter.

She calls him and apologizes. She tells him she's falling for him too.

2 weeks later she books a flight to see him. She rented a room at the bed and breakfast on his street and plans to tell him the truth that night. She books a ride with Nils's company to get to town and the airline loses her luggage, it was her art supplies. Nils mentions his friend Paul is the principal and would let her use the art supplies from the school.

She tells Paul she'll be at a conference all week and won't be able to talk as much. He's counting down the days until he's going to see her.

She walks to his house to tell him everything and saves his dog from getting hit by a car. She falls and scrapes her knee. He rushes outside and sees what happened.

He takes her inside to take care of her knee. He feels like he knows her but doesn't know why. He's attracted to her and feels guilty because he's dating Holly. She thinks he's the most beautiful man she's ever seen.

He asks why she's in town and she explains she's an artist. He realizes she's Nils's passenger who lost her luggage and offers all the supplies she could want from his school. She quotes their favorite movie accidentally and he's stunned. He mentions that's his girlfriends favorite movie and she knows he's feeling guilty.

He invites her out for coffee as a thank you. He tries to rationalize that he's just desperate for Holly and he's projecting on Zoe.

After meeting him she knows losing him would be unbearable. She reasons with herself that one day together wouldn't hurt. That he may even be more understanding after getting to know Zoe.

When they go out for coffee he can't keep his eyes off her. They talk about books and he brings up Holly. He tells Zoe the relationship is complicated. She's interested.

He describes how beautiful Holly is with her blond hair and blue eyes and Zoe feels awful because she's not that girl anymore and she can tell it's important to Paul.

She mentions she's in town for a guy and he can tell she's hurt. He tells her she's amazing and pretty and anyone would be lucky to have her. She almost kisses him but he pulls away. She tries to tell him the truth but he thinks she's going to explain the kiss and attraction and stops her.

He wanted to kiss her but tries to rationialize it's because he misses Holly. He realizes it's just Zoe that's getting under his skin.

They go to the coffee shop and she meets his friends and Maggie's nephew Graham. She knows Maggie is figuring it all out. Graham flirts with her and Paul doesn't like it. Jane invites them out with her and Lars the next day for a trip into the park.

He can't stop watching her and everything about her is turning him on. He sees Graham eyeing her and is jealous. Maggie calls Zoe away and Graham starts talking about how hot she is. Paul stops him. Graham tells him he hasn't stopped watching her since they got there. That Paul is unavailable anyway.

Maggie tells Zoe she knows she's Holly. She asks what kind of game is she playing and that Paul doesn't know. Zoe tells her it's a long story but Maggie doesn't care. She tells Zoe to tell Paul or she will.

Zoe comes back to Paul and he knows something's wrong. She tells him she has to leave and runs out of the shop.

He chases after her and catches her crying. He thinks she's brave and kind and wants to know why she's so sad. He hugs her as she cries to soothe her. When she calms down he can't help himself and kisses her.

He starts to get carried away and she stops him. He realizes what he did and feels awful. She tells him not to say he's sorry and he tells her he's not.

She says she understands he's with Holly, but she just wants to get to know him. That they won't kiss again. He says ok.

Maggie comes by her room to apologize. Zoe tells her what happened with the accident and how she really loves Paul but she's scared he'll reject her. That she's going to come clean right now. Maggie suggests she wait a few days because Paul is developing feelings for Zoe. That way he'll be more understanding.

He feels guilty. He decides to keep things friendly with Zoe so they can part as friends because he's not willing to lose Holly.

The next morning she's walking to the coffee shop and bumps into him. She was dancing down the street and he comments on how good she is. She mentions she used to love it and tells him about the accident. He thinks she's brave and strong.

At the coffee shop Graham tells Paul he intends to sleep with Zoe. Paul threatens him. Graham tells Paul he has a virtual girlfriend so Zoe is none of his business.

They go to his school and she tells him she used to teach. She decides she misses it and wants to teach again. He mentions his art teacher is out in maternity leave and how hard it is to find subs.

He's proud of his school and she mentions how they're ranked first in the state. She's proud of him and offers him a hug. He wants to kiss her and she can tell it's hurting him so she pushes him away.

He texts Holly that he misses her then realizes since he met Zoe the only time he's reached out to Holly was when he felt guilty. He decides it's fine to get to know Zoe but he needs to make a decision between them soon.

They go with Jane and Lars to some waterfalls and he wants Zoe close to him. He's flirty with her and she realizes she doesn't see guilt in his eyes.

She draws while he fishes and when he joins her later he tells her she's beautiful. That he doesn't lie so it's true. She feels guilty and he thinks it's over the guy she's in town to meet. He tells her that guy isn't good enough for her. He kisses her again and they get carried away.

He walks her home and she invites him in. He says no and she's embarrassed and hurt. He tells her it was the hardest thing for him to say no to her.

Sandy calls for an update and Zoe tells her she hasn't told Paul yet. Sandy tells her she should take a few days away from him to sort herself out. Then she needs to tell him. Zoe decides to go on an overnight trip Nils mentioned. She finds out its 3 days but decides to go.

The next morning he sees her at the coffee shop and Graham is flirting with her. He hates it and the fact that he has to go to work all day without her and barges in. He asks if she's coming for dinner and when she says yes he kisses her goodbye in front of everyone.

She comes for dinner and he can't keep his hands off her. They make out and end up with their tops off. He can't keep away from her breasts and she finishes. He's amazed.

They have dinner and talk about their families. He tells her she'll make up with her sister. That she needs to let go of the guilt because it was an accident.

He starts to tell her he's breaking up with Holly because he's falling for her but she interrupts and says she's going away for a few days with Nils. She doesn't want him to say he's falling in love with her until he knows the truth.

He gets jealous and angry. She tells him he has no reason to be jealous since she's been falling for him since the moment they met.

He carries her to bed and they end up dry humping. She stops them before they go to far. He leaves to take a cold shower and she finds a picture of Holly on his nightstand.

He tells her it's Holly and that he doesn't lead women on. She can tell he feels guilty and asks what if he didn't have to choose between her and Holly. He explains Holly deserves more than a guy who falls for someone else over 3 days. She tries to explain he could have both and starts to have a panic attack.

He thinks it's because of Holly and apologizes. She feels even worse because he's so guilty.

He tells her he's sorry he's going to hurt Holly but he's not sorry to have met Zoe. That he wants to see where they could go together.

The next morning he thinks about what she said and wonders if she was trying to say he could date both women. He calls the inn to talk to her before she leaves and finds out her last name is the same as Holly's. She answers in Holly's voice. He's confused and she clarifies she's Zoe. He tries to ask what's going on but she cuts the call short because Nils is there.

He realizes Zoe is Holly. That he's the guy Zoe was there to see that was hurting her. He wonders if everything was on purpose and gets angry.

He goes to Maggie and she tells him everything. Maggie tries to calm him down but he feels betrayed and stupid. Maggie tries to explain Zoe loves him and just wanted him to hear her out. That she was scared he'd leave her.

Nils knows something is wrong and tells her to let it all out while he sets up the campsite. She tells him everything and he tells her he knows she's Holly. That he figured it out when she signed up for the trip.

She shows him the tattoos she got commemorating the accident and her nephew and he shows her his 2 tattoos. He tells her he understands that accidents change you.

Nils tells her Paul loves her. That he's going to be angry but he'll get over it because he loves her. That what she looks like doesn't matter because his heart knows her.

Paul goes through every message Holly sent him and realizes they're Zoe. That she's the same person. He realizes all his messages commented on her appearance and feels awful. He wonders if he just fell in love with her photo.

He realizes he wants Zoe and that he can't lose her. He realizes he doesn't fully trust her.

Jane and Maggie come to see him and tell him he needs to move past it because she loves him. He realizes they're right.

After spending time with Nils she's determined to fix things with Thea. She decides to let Paul go if that's what he wants.

Nils drops her off and hugs her goodbye. He tells her Paul loves her and things will work out. Paul sees and thinks there's something between them and is jealous. He refuses to lose her to Nils and goes to her.

She's shocked to see him at her door. He asks if she's with Nils and she's confused and says no. He kisses her. They get carried away and she thinks he doesn't know the truth yet. He stops them because he wants everything laid out before they sleep together.

He comes back later to take her to the town dance. She has her contacts out and he sees her blue eyes. She explains how she hid them after the accident and he's understanding. She struggles with the rest so he tells her to tell him later.

He knows she's conflicted and wants to put her at ease. He doesn't want her to feel so tormented. She mentions she's sad because she's leaving soon.

He takes her to his school and shows her the plaque he had made for the art room naming her teacher.

He tells her she's the most amazing and beautiful person he's ever met. And he's sorry if he made her think for a second otherwise. He tells her he loves her and he knows she's Holly, and he wants her to stay and teach at his school.

She's thrilled and they kiss. They get carried away and she asks him to make love to her. That she's in love with him. They rush to his house and have sex.

He asks her to stay and she explains she has a surgery. He realizes that's why Holly got scared when he said he was coming to visit.

He tells her he's going to see her and be with her while she has surgery. He tells her he can't stay past the weekend but he wants her to come back and live with him. She says yes.

2 weeks later she has her surgery and he's there. Thea shows up and they make amends. Paul asks Sandy for permission to marry Zoe.

He asks her to marry him. She says yes.

A Heart of Montana is one of my favorite series and Katy Regnery quickly became one of my favorite authors. She has such a beautiful writing style that always captivates me and hooks me from beginning to end. I always connect with the characters and their stories. I’ve loved all of the installments in this series and if you’re a fan of sweet, pure, and heartwarming romances, I highly recommend you buy all of them. Meeting Miss Mystic, book five in the series, was Paul and Zoe’s story. We had previously met Paul in the other books and I am extremely happy to see him FINALLY get his happy ending.
“…and just as he’d always known: nothing – not a little distance or a very unconventional meeting – could stop the course of true love.”

Unconventional is definitely the perfect word to describe how Paul and Zoe’s relationship started, but Fate doesn’t always do things the “normal” way either, does she? Paul had horrible luck where love was concerned, so Maggie, his best friend, intervened and created a profile for him at an online dating site. To say Paul was less than excited or thrilled when he found out, would be an understatement.

Zoe had completely forgotten about her old account on Meet-the-one.com where she had created a profile under the name Holly Morgan (her middle name and her mother’s maiden name). Two years ago, Zoe was blonde with blue eyes, happy, and scar-less. Now, after a horrible accident for which she blamed herself, Zoe had dyed her hair black and was wearing brown colored contacts. Zoe thought she didn’t deserve happiness, so she surely didn’t deserve to look “shiny” and pretty, which is why she changed her appearance.

The last thing Zoe ever imagined was meeting a wonderful and hot man like “Principal Paul”. Once they began chatting, they automatically liked each other. They made each other laugh and finally, feel happy again. They gave each other hope. But one thing remained…. Paul didn’t know about Zoe, or rather, Holly’s secret. He didn’t know Holly looked differently than she did on her picture and he certainly didn’t know that Holly’s real name was Zoe. And so, Zoe took matters into her own hands and booked a flight to Montana with plans of coming clean to Paul face-to-face.

Of course, things didn’t go as planned. A LOT happened once Paul met Zoe. He felt like he’d seen her before….like somehow he knew her, but he couldn’t place it. The only thing he did know was that he felt something for Zoe.
“Meeting you…knowing you is like finding something that I thought was lost.”

The more time they spent together, the more difficult it was for Zoe to be honest about EVERYTHING. While it wasn’t her intention to lie to Paul, she was too afraid of losing him. It was that fear that held her back each and every time she meant to tell him.

I was SO nervous anticipating Paul’s reaction. My heart wanted them to be happy, to finally get their fairytale. They both had suffered so much heartache that they needed – they deserved – true, genuine happiness. And be still my heart!!! They sure got their #HEA in true Katy Regnery fashion!!!

I’ve said this before and I will say it again. I absolutely LOVE Katy’s writing style. She always manages to make me feel all fuzzy inside. Heck, she makes me want to move to Montana!! Her books, to me, create an environment where I want to sit in front of a fireplace and read all day long while drinking hot cocoa. They’re true beautiful romance novels that I will always HIGHLY recommend.

Five wonderful stars!
“I love you Zoe Holly. I love all of you.”

I loved the concept for this book and the synopsis had me intrigued! This is the first book I have read by Kate Regnery and it forms part of a series. I wondered if I would struggle seeing as I haven't read any of the other books but it is a beautiful book and I needn't have been concerned.

A little slow to get in full swing and with a clever and quite surprising twist, it soon piqued my interest and I loved the online dating concept (as, to be honest, it is now a popular way of meeting people in real life!).

We meet Zoe/Holly (Miss Mystic) and Paul (Principlepaul) who both have their issues, Zoe more so. Paul is such a sweet gent and actually a nice change from the raw alpha men in a lot of contemporary books! Zoe is so broken and feels unworthy of love and of life.

As with any romance, things not run smoothly 100% of the time but the rapport between the two is worth the read! The text and email exchanges between the two are funny and really make the situation come to life!

The supporting characters are well rounded and have really got me interested in reading more by Kate and I will definitely be one clicking a few more of her books! Maggie too is a great friend and her efforts to help Paul are nothing short of persistent!

Well worth a read!

5 super stars!

There are so many words I would use to describe Katy Regnery and her books. Time and time again I am blown away and caught up in her stories. Like all good romances and especially Katy's books, I found myself giddy and hugging myself after the last page.

Paul... Wow. I really liked the little bits of Paul I seen in previous books, but holy cow! And oh Zoe! I loved her. Together they are perfect. The chemistry is off the pages. I think one of my favorite things about this read is the fact that they met online. I haven't seen many writes incorporate this aspect into their writing.

Again a really great read. Most of the time I find myself saying if you like romantic or comedy then read this book. It is not the case for this wonderful read. I think all readers should pick this one up and check it out! If you haven't read the other books in the series then I highly recommend those as well.

Another 5 fabulous stars for Katy. This series in getting more and more addictive. The story is a real mirror of our society where internet is able to link people all over the world, but where to appear is more important than be, where emotions can be concealed and distorted. The web is where Holly/Zoe and Paul met. Holly has a sad past and secrets that have changhed her forever, changed her in Zoe. She hopes to meet someone to love and that will love her back for who she is and not for her looking. Paul is looking for a fairy tale lovestory build on trust and not secrets.
