Aspen Winters thought coming home for the holidays would be the perfect fresh start. With a cozy new house, a promising job, and a town brimming with festive cheer, she’s determined to rediscover the magic of Christmas. But when her path crosses with Zion Garland—a man juggling holiday traditions with the weight of recent loss—Aspen realizes that Christmas might be more complicated than she imagined.
As the two navigate the season together, Aspen helps Zion embrace the joy he’s struggling to find, while Zion reminds Aspen that the true meaning of home is often found in the most unexpected places. Full of heartwarming moments, holiday charm, and the healing power of love, this is a story about finding hope and connection when you need it most.

At the age of 18, Aspen had a blow up argument with her parents that led to her packing up and never looking back. Now 15 years later after a bitter divorce and the death of her parents, she is back in Atlyn city with her children looking for a fresh start.
Zion is struggling with the death of his hero, his grandfather. He had always been a rock in his life and now that he has the opportunity to fill his shoes in what may seem a small way ends up leaving a huge impact on himself as well as Aspen and her children.
This was a cute fast paced romance that had the essence of Christmas sprinkled throughout. I was happy to see that Aspen and her children were able to find joy again after that miserable ex of hers. Marcus was in rare form and I pray he catches something that burns and that he can’t get rid of. 3.5✨’s
There’s just something about two people coming together unexpectedly and finding love during the holidays that warms my spirit. 😊😊😊😊 After 15 years away, Aspen has moved back to Atlyn City. She’s recently divorced and lookin’ for a fresh start for herself and her kids. But, her return is bittersweet. A falling out with her parents is what kept her away from Atlyn City all these years and, now that Aspen’s mama and daddy have both passed away, she has to her family home on the market. As the new manager of Mercer & Main Department store, Aspen is also tasked with finding a new Santa for the upcoming holiday festivities.
Zion is struggling to find the holiday spirit after the recent passing of his grandfather. He’s taken some much needed time off to get his mental together and catch up on some rest but, if Ms. Grace has anything to do with it, he won’t be resting for long. To appease his grandmother, Zion agrees to be the new Black Santa for Mercer & Main. A position previously held by his late grandfather. While hesitant at first, Zion quickly realizes this may be what he needs to feel closer to his grandfather and keep his memory alive. Home For The Holiday was a refreshing Christmas read. It embodied all of the things I love in a holiday novella. I really enjoyed getting to know Aspen, Zion, and the kids. Especially lil’ miss Noel. Baby girl stole the whole book. But, y’all wanna know who I didn’t enjoy gettin’ to know? Marcus’ trash azz. He pulled up to Atlyn City with a duffle bag full of audacity and really tried it. After that shyt he pulled, may he have the miserable life he deserves. 😒😒😒😒 Congratulations to T’Lyn on her first Indie release and I look forward to seeing more from AC. 🎅🏾🎄🧑🏾🎄☃️🎁❄️
I love Zion and Aspen soo much! Zion stepped up and just naturally was exactly what Aspen and her kids needed. I also loved his dynamic with his grandma.
Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy, romantic Christmas read.
Sometimes when your kids original daddy is acting up you gotta get them a new one….and we love a better, richer stepdaddy over here. There’s something about two people finding each other and falling in love during the Christmas season. There was a really good balance between the sad and the holly jolly because both Aspen and Zion were grieving in their own ways, but the magic of Christmas brought them together. Marcus is TRASH and that’s why his kids have a better daddy now. Excited to see what else we get from Atlyn City!!
“Coming home was about finding something new.” That is the quote that sums up “Home For The Holiday.” The story is the first introduction to Atlyn City, and I think I am ready to pack up and move there, too. I loved the richness of the city, the holiday traditions, the emphasis on Black excellence, and the community. Aspen and her two children, Noel and Nick, were new to the city. Aspen grew up in Atlyn City but unfortunately moved away once she married. Zion had big shoes to fill as the newest Santa for Mercer & Main after the patriarch of his family passed. The story gave me all the holiday feels and heartwarming moments. From the first interaction with Zion and Aspen, the sparks were flying, and the temperature continued to rise by the end. I adored Zion because he was big on tradition and family and still made sure the Winters’ first Christmas back in Atlyn City was memorable. Home For The Holiday was a great reminder that it’s okay to make new memories during the holidays.
This was so cute 🥰 It was a fast paced love story that had Christmas weaved throughout. I mean it gave me all the feels, the snow ❄️, the Christmas lights and trees 🎄, the cocoa ☕, Christmas list 📝, the cookies 🍪, the gifts 🎁, and of course Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus 🎅🏾🤶🏾 She gave us everything that we needed in a Christmas story and I loved it.
Both Aspen and Zion were expecting to just be doing their best to survive this Christmas. Aspen was newly divorced and Zion had lost his Grandfather, his father figure. Instead they embarked on something new, something beautiful between them. I loved how good Zion was with her kids. Also how his Grandmother embraced them all. That love came quick, I wasn't ready but I was here for it. It was a sweet feel good Christmas novella.
I look forward to reading more stories in Atlyn City.
This was sooo sweet and heartwarming. I could have used just a few more dates but the connection and chemistry was solid. I think I smiled through the whole book. This hit a little close to come in a few ways and I appreciate the little bit of hope it gave.
Very cutesy with lots of Christmas. Any stories with kids are a win for me and these babies definitely stole my heart, despite their triffling daddy. Love this love for Aspen.
It’s Christmas time, and Aspen Winters has just gone through a tumultuous divorce and has decided to move her and her two children back home to Atlyn City for a fresh start. Once back home, she runs into Zion Garland, a single investment banker who’s just promised his grandmother that he’d fill in as Santa Claus at Aspen’s shop. I loved this story; it really gives all the Christmas feels. Zion was really bae; he came at Aspen correctly from the first encounter, and I truly love me a step daddy story. The way he took to and took care of the kids was so heartwarming. This is really a sweet story of love, embracing new and old Christmas traditions and found family.
This is a super cute, fast-paced, and very cozy holiday novella. It follows Aspen, a divorcee who has moved back home for a fresh start with her two children, and Zion, who is navigating the recent loss of his grandfather while still trying to enjoy the holidays as his grandfather used to.
Aspen and Zion gave me all the feels from their very first hello. I loved how Zion stepped up without hesitation, not just for Aspen but for her children as well. He became everything they needed, and in return, they became everything he needed too. You should add this to your list of holiday shorts. 🤎❄️
3.75⭐️ this was the cutest most innocent christmas novella i have read so far. it filled my heart with joy at how loving and warm it was 😢.
talks about topics like grief, and not feeling like you’re enough, while also simultaneously being joyful and full or warm-heartedness, it was just so endearing. i would definitely recommend this book to anybody. this is the perfect pallet cleanser that will have you saying “aww” every five seconds!
aspen and her family noel & nick were precious. and zion was that mannnn, he is definitely the blue print for how i like my book boyfriends to be. i love a man who shows his love for you everyday, all day without even trying 🥺. i honestly adored every character in this book BESIDES marcus.
this would’ve been 4 stars for me if it didn’t have typos, but other than that i enjoyed this book a lot. it’s very sweet and loving, and will also get you in the mood for holiday season 🎄🫶🏽.
I really enjoyed meeting this couple and this new T'Lyn city. Although, it was a brief love story, I believed that the couple cared deeply for one another. You should add this to your Holiday list of shorts to read.
Home For the Holiday was a cozy, warm holiday romance! Zion and Aspen’s whirlwind romance was refreshing to read! I loved the fact both characters we’re working though personal situations!
This was a cute holiday read! I love Aspen and Zion’s story! I’m new to T’lyn, so now I to see if there’s another story for these two or what’s next in this city.
Atlyn City is where I’ll be vacationing at next so I can run into my peeps Aspen and Zion. Zion was so patient, understanding and oh so gentle with Aspen and her children. I’m so in love with these characters. I want more from them! Can’t wait to see what T’lyn comes up with next as she’s an amazing writer!
Ms. T'lyn, I enjoyed this introductory novelette to the newfound city that is upcoming and flourishing. I would love more on Aspen and Zion, budding love. The way you wrote this book, you can tell they are just getting warmed up. There is always something about kids with strong personalities that draws me to them. Noel was that kid. She was spoiled, no doubt, but well-versed to be only five years old. Nicholas was the perfect big brother because he filled in the huge gaps of love his father left open. Noel wasn't the only child who benefitted from having Zion around Nicholas as well. He finally got the fatherly love he was yearning for. Zion was the perfect ingredient that needed to be added to Aspen, Nicholas, and Noel. Everyone's lives changed for the better after that first encounter with Zion.
A great work of art by Ms. T'Lyn, in which I highly recommend. Get into this read it gives you all the holiday vibes you are searching for.
This book gave all things Christmas. Who doesn't love a black Santa? Aspen was an amazing mother who was dealing with a sucky ex-husband. The man literally abandoned his kids because she started seeing someone else. Zion should've had the opportunity to lay hands and feet on that man for how he mistreated his kids. Zion was struggling with the first Christmas without his grandfather, but Aspen and her kids stepped in and made it better. I loved Noel. That sweet baby was spoiled rotten. Nick was so mature for his age. He gave his mom some great advice. The instant chemistry between Aspen and Zion could be felt immediately. I loved how Zion stepped in and was the man she could depend on from day one. Mrs. Grace was an amazing grandmother. She was right there with Zion helping with Aspen's kids. I loved this story. I can't wait to see what else is in store for Atlyn City.
Aspen and Zion gave me the feels from the first hello, talk about instant attraction! I loved how Zion came with the energy, not just for Aspen but for her children too. The talk he had with Nick while decorating just showed the type of person of character he was. It wasn't no, what do the lonely do at Christmas because Zion was all about the pressure and he wasn't letting up. We can't forget about the Christmas spirit and how this whole story is giving decorations, traditions, hot chocolate , fresh baked cookies, Christmas Balls, and SANTA ZION!Zion's grandmother was everything and I'm going to need more of this lady in the future. Aspen's ex...audacity in spades, but that's OK. Daddy Zion got this. I can't wait to see what's going to happen in Atlyn City, I'm excited. 🤍🤍🤍
When I said to keep them Jolly this year this is what I meant!!!! This was such a beautiful read!
It follows Aspen, who has moved back to her hometown for a fresh start with her two babies post divorce from her highschool sweetheart, and Zion, who is struggling finding his joy for the holiday post the passing of his grandfather.
This story embodied all the things I love about a holiday novella.
First, the pace of the story was top tier! It gave just enough background on both main characters to make you feel like you’ve read a full standalone about them and this was just a continuance of that story…
Second, the reasons around the lack of joy for the season were realistic and palpable! Not much time was spent harping on the why, and more focus was on getting past those feelings to get reacquainted with the season on page!!!! I loved that!
Finally, the relationship building with the kids was TOP TIER, and Zion gave major BDE without the need of violence and chaos! BIG STEP DADDY ENERGY was also refreshing and on page!
@authortlyn you did your big one on this and I’m excited to see what’s coming from Atlyn City!
T’Lyn Congrats on the new release and welcoming us to Atlyn City. Zion Garland and Aspen Winters were just what each other needed. It was instant connection, it felt kismet. Baby girl Noel stole the show, so cute! Nick was so mature for his age. I loved how he loved his mom and lil sis. Grandma Grace was my favorite just so full of love and wisdom!
When Zion said I got us, it made me blush ❤️🥰🫶🏾

“I just don’t want you to allow him, or anyone for that matter, to steal the way you view yourself. He didn’t deserve you, but that doesn’t mean you deserve less.”
A quick- to the point short romance, it was a cute holiday short. I can’t stand sista girl’s ex husband tho. Wanted to jump in the story & smack him. Would’ve loved to see Aspen pour into Zion the way he did her and the children from the jump— he was kind of smitten with her before any connection was there type. I think the tricky part about romance shorts is we have to imagine what may have gone on between time to get the MC’s where they are in their fling. Besides that though the author is an amazing writer, great at setting the scene— love the writing language/style as well. I wouldn’t mind reading more from her!
This was such a feel good story! Aspen, divorcee & single mother of 2 is just trying to keep her head above water and pick up the slack of her ex-husband. In comes Zion, who is navigating the recent loss of his grandfather while still trying to enjoy the holidays as his grandfather used to really enjoy. Aspen & Zion were made for one another! Zion stepped up without any hesitance & became all that they needed; they became what he needed as well. “It’s not about what you lost- it’s about what you build with what you have left.”
This is a super cute, very cozy holiday novella. It’s festive but still has depth and characters going through real things to make you love them. I loved every second of Zion from his relationship with his grandmother to how he talked to Nick. His whole vibe gave off protector, supporter, like he wanted Aspen to always be in her soft girl era and I love that for her! I love grandma and her meddling. Noel is a showstopper, so precious and really brought the whole vibe together. You have love, healing, all the holiday cheer, and all the feels in a very quick, easy read!
When Aspen decided to go back home for the holiday she was not expecting to fall in love, especially not with Santa but that is exactly what she got, in a sense. She met Zion in the mall where he was taking over for his deceased grandfather as the mall Santa for Christmas and there was an instant connection between the two. I liked the way that he started off as a friend to her and helped her out around the house even when she didn't ask for it. I also appreciated the way her kids took a liking to him almost immediately and her son being a teenager knew that she needed someone like him in her life. This made the transition from friends to more simpler for them both.
Her ex-husband was no good, especially what he did to the kids around Christmas time but it was for the best for Aspen, Zion, the kids and his mom because they were able to become their own family unit. Aspen and Zion were what each other needed during the holidays in this book and it gave you the warm feeling of family during the holiday which I really enjoyed.
I've been OD'ing on the holiday reads this year and I am absolutely loving it. Especially when they give sweet with a HEA. Aspen moves back to her hometown after divorcing her cheating husband and is looking for a fresh start. Zion is trying to find the best way to honor his grandfather's memory in what should be the happiest time of the year but is weighing heavy on Zion's holiday spirit.
In comes the meeting of Aspen and Zion (and granny playing her role as a great wing-woman). Zion is exactly the kind of guy that Aspen and her children need after dealing with the inconsistencies and lies from her ex. Another feel good read with a HEA. Definitely worth the read!
