The eruption of kundalini energy from its secret nest at the base of the spine has been revered by some as bringing ecstasy and enlightenment, and disparaged by others as simply disabling, terrifying and dangerous. Mystics may call it a method of transformation. Skeptics consider it imaginary. All who have experienced it know it as a mystery and a profound life-altering experience. This book, based on 25 years of interviews with over 2000 people who have had this awakening, describes seven categories of phenomena that may occur, tells the eastern perspective of kundalini science, offers guidance on coping with the erratic energies and shifts of consciousness that happen, and reveals the inward path to self-realization that follows the deconstruction initiated by a kundalini arising. If you think you might be in this awakening process, you engage in spiritual or energy practices, or you have activated energies following a near-death experience or trauma, this book is your companion and guide.
Easily the best book on Kundalini that I am aware of.
Bonnie Greenwell speaks to the Kundalini experience with uncanny clarity, accuracy, confidence, honesty, humility and most importantly. From deep, advanced personal experience.
Not only has she clearly gone all the way through the Kundalini awakening experience. To fruition. But she is also a serious, advanced student of Adyashanti. And speaks with similar clarity and accuracy to/from non-dual awakening.
Additionally.
Greenwell speaks from the perspective of a researcher and clinician. She has conducted thousands of interviews over the course of her research on the kundalini experience. Beginning with her PhD dissertation (on the subject). And continuing on with her later research. She is also highly familiar with the extant literature on the subject (modern and traditional), as she cites her sources throughout her writing. Additionally, Greenwell has worked as a therpaist with and for hundreds of people undergoing some stage of Kundalini awakening.
All of this personal and professional experience loans tons of credibility and rigor to her work.
And WE LOVE!
Yasss qween!
This book is exactly what I needed.
Exactly when I needed it.
If you’re curious about Kundalini.
And you need a clear, sober explanation and guidance.
It felt as though the author was standing in the centre of a diamond prism, illustrating an infinite number of simple paths and angles through which the gift of selflessness can be attained. This is not to understate the recognition that she gives to the difficult task of cleansing and deconstruction that must occur before the ego finally releases its grip within the minds and hearts of some aspirants (myself included).
Beautifully conveyed, with her personal experience and empathy shining through brilliantly and compassionately to all those who are criss-crossing various roles of duality and negotiating internal conflict while nevertheless immersed within the Kundalini journey, I'm reminded of the words: "I trace the rainbow through the rain" in the George Matheson Christian hymn: "Oh Love that wilt not let me go".
Truly, a transcendent mood of calm sweeps over me whenever my eyes glide over the supportive words and phrases of this book. So many nuances! Thank you, Bonnie Greenwell.
I am so glad to have found this guide (book). It has really helped me to understand the Kundalini Awakening. I am sure it will do the same for someone else. If you are looking for the Truth inside yourself, this is it! The author takes and gives excellent definitions, descriptions and layers to help you understand in layman's terms. Thank you Ms. Bonnie Greenwell and may much love and blessings continue to be with you!!!
I really rode the struggle bus with this one y'all, despite it being very well written and very well structured. I kept feeling like I was rereading the same passages over and over without making any sort of progress... which is entirely possible since I read it on three different devices and I swear they weren't syncing up correctly. Finally finished whew!Ultimately I think that it was just not the right time for me to read this book, which is no fault of the book itself. I'm a little too *SQUIRREL* right now for this type of subject. May have to reread this one down the line.
When Kundalini awakens one needs less theory and more “how to.” Bonnie Greenwell satisfies with both understanding and ways to work with this amazing and often challenging transformation. She draws from both direct experience and the more reliable writers and teachers. Highly recommend to beginners and advanced and especially psychotherapists.
I was raised in Evangelicalism and had no idea what was happening to me earlier this year, but started to make discover after discovery until last weekend the phrase "Kundalini Awakening" fell in my lap, just like every other revelation I've made since March. I studied this book in amazement as I read passage after passage concerning the spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional transformations I've been experiencing. I've become a devout admirer of Carl Jung, therefore I found it refreshing and encouraging that the author admonished readers to devastate ego by refusing to use the Kundalini journey to promote self (don't focus on supernatural powers, being enlightened, superior, more advanced, etc). This book resonated deeply with me. I'll be memorizing quotes and sharing what I've learned, little by little, as the Universe prompts and guides.
This is the first book I found that explained the process I am going through. It's a handy guide and reassures the reader that I don't need doctors to diagnose something most don't have a clue about. It's one of two books I'm constantly referring back to as it has a plethora of useful information.
Bonnie is a beautiful soul. Educated and experienced in this. I plan to read her other book on awakening. Very easy to understand if you have some familiarity with this subject.
A clear and helpful guide on how to deal with to Kundalini awakenings, either intentional or accidental, written by a student of Adyashanti. Recommended to anyone interested in Kundalini and its manifestations.
This book was really helpful for me in dispelling some myths and providing guidance on what this process can look like. I especially liked the explanation of the various phenomena from different spiritual viewpoints/frameworks (Taoist / Buddhist / Hindu), the many case studies from interviews, and the practical tips for those engaging in this process.
