Everyone In My Family Has Killed I knew our family reunion wouldn't end well. But I didn't expect murder. Maybe I should have known better. After all, everyone in my family is a killer. My parents, my siblings, my in-laws . . . even me. The deaths weren't all deliberate, of course. Accidents happen. So when a body is found in the snow, it's clear it's the work of a Cunningham.
Everyone on this Train is a When the Australian Mystery Writers’ Society invites six authors to a festival aboard the Ghan – the famous Darwin to Adelaide train – it’s a who’s who of crime writing royalty. And me! (The lowly debut author.) But when one of us is murdered, six authors must become five detectives. This should be easy. Aren’t we all experts in whodunnits.
Everyone This Christmas has a Secret [Hardcover]: My name is Ernest I’m not a detective. I just happen to have a knack for what makes mysteries – and murderers – tick. I’d hoped, this Christmas, that any killers out there might be willing to take a break for the holidays. I was wrong. So here I am, backstage at the Christmas show of world-famous magician Rylan Blaze.
Entertaining and twisty mystery story. Definitely a fun new take on the typical. Part satire, part drama it feels like a murder mystery mixed with autobiography. The “climax” is a surprise- well done there! The ending does the whole “wrap up all the characters” thing, which is fine but takes a rather long time. The characters are fun, the narration is entertaining, the story drags on a bit, but overall an excellent divergent from the typical thriller/murder book.
(There is not option to choose one in this series; I am reviewing Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone).
What a ride! I loved the author's style of writing as though he is speaking to the reader. His other job as an Australian comedian shows through every page. Maybe more comedians should write books!
A dysfunctional family meets in a remote Australian resort in the winter to reunite with each other and one of them who has been "away" for three years. The story is written from the point of view of the ostracized son, who happens to be a consultant for authors who write crime fiction.
I agree with a couple of other reviewers: Don't skip any part of this book- the introduction included. It is confusing in the beginning with all of the characters but after a while, it all becomes clear as to who is who and why they are important to the storyline.
The minute after I finished I immediately began looking for more titles by this author.
I have only read Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. The family has gone to an isolated ski resort in Australia. There is a severe snow storm and a power outage. As the death toll rises and old family resentments surface.
Just as an aside who knew there where mountains in Australia? Now I do.
