First time in print! Dead Flowers and Baited, a duo of Julie Collins novellas from two-time Shamus Award winning author Lori Armstrong. Valentine's Day is for suckers... In Dead Flowers*, cynical PI Julie Collins trails cheating lovers, which leads to questions about her relationship with Tony Martinez. *This novella was originally digitally published in the Guns and Roses Anthology in 2012. A hobby turns deadly... In Baited, it's been a long, hot, summer for PI Julie Collins. With her partner Kevin off on assignment, she's lured into taking a case involving a missing fisherman. Nothing about the man's disappearance is as it seems. Although Julie is no stranger to the dark currents that churn below the surface, can she count on her friend Jimmer, and her lover Tony Martinez, to keep her from getting in too deep?

Two "cute" short stories in this intense series. I love this author, and I get how these vignettes pop up and beg to be put on paper, but these were below her standards. Still they add depth to the characters in a clever way that couldn't be sustained in a full-length novel.

If you like the series, read these.

These two short stories in the Julie Collins world are a fun visit but they are much too short. I hope there are more full length books in this series in the future.

Dead Flowers:

What a great spin on a Valentine's Day story, because I too HATE this holiday!!! But it was also fun to see Julie & Martinez's relationship progress after the books!!! Loved it, Julie is still her 'take no crap from anyone' self, and still one of the things Martinez loves about his "Blondie", Julie.

Baited:

Ah a mini Mystery!! All while Julie gets a lesson in friendship. And of course I loved it, what can I say, I really enjoy reading Julie's character!

Two short stories to be read after book 4 Snow Blind. Baited is a catch up with the team on a case, whereas Dead Flowers is more about Julie and Martinez. Held my breath for some of it, good job its a Novella! Sad to see the end to this series, but I'd definitely recommend.

Julie and Martinez have been together for a year but she feels he is pulling away. First there are the white roses she never received. Then then the perfume, not coming home and lying about where he has been. Even when she saw him in the coffee shop. Take no prisoners girlie!!

Good things come in small packages

These two novellas give fun glimpses into Julie's work and personal lives. It's great seeing Kevin, Jimmer, Martinez and Big Mike again. These are perfect additions to the Julie Collins series.
