I COULD BE MEANT FOR MORE. I COULD DESERVE IT.Juniper Walden has lived a life of quiet obscurity as a Beta and romance author. When one of her novels gains traction and she’s suddenly trapped in a broken elevator with two strangers the night before her UK book tour, she realizes her future might not be so clear-cut.
Seth Harding is a happily bonded Beta, but he can’t get the pretty stranger’s honey-sweet scent out of his head. Imagine his and his Alpha’s surprise when they see her face on the news, because it’s unheard of for a designation to emerge late.
In a world where Omega rights are not their own, Omegas and their golden-hued blood are coveted and exchanged like property because of their rarity. June finds herself stranded in a foreign country, with no legal protection and an oncoming heat to navigate. Her only choice might just be the Beta she keeps meeting by happenstance— and his pack of three Alphas.GOLD RUSH is book one in a why choose (MMMMF) omegaverse duology set in the Golden Omegaverse. Part One ends on a cliffhanger, June's happily ever after is guaranteed in Part Two.
I keep reading omegaverse, even though so many of them leave me feeling a little disappointed. It's probably because my very first dip into the genre was Lola and the Millionaires, and literally nothing compares to that masterpiece. Sigh. But I keep trying.
This book started off well. The writing is decent, and the plot is interesting enough. But by the second half I was getting bored, and I ended up skimming the last quarter of the book. This is because there is no plot beyond her impending heat and getting to know the pack. And even then, everything feels kind of surface. It's just round and round the same merry go round of "omg I don't know what's happening" and roller coaster interactions with the pack and it's just.
I wanted to love it, but it didn't dazzle me by the end.
Why Choose MMMMF Omegaverse Older MCs Late Blooming Omega Established Pack Anxiety Ridden FMC Hurt/Comfort 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was such a good Omegaverse book for me. The plot to this was so interesting and totally sucked me in with all the emotion! Poor June.
June is in her late twenties, a beta just coasting through life as a writer. Shes on a tour in England due to one of her books blowing up, when the unthinkable happens and her life completely takes a turn. I feel so freaking bad for June. She already suffers from anxiety and then boom, it gets so much worse. Luckily she has a couple of chance encounters with two sweet and thoughtful men that can help.
There are four men in play here and they are all so different and great in their own way. Seth the super sweet and sometimes naughty Beta. Bennet, Seth’s bonded Alpha is a sweetheart, Arin is a little bit of a Dom that’s so super considerate. Then there’s Theo, the alpha-hole of the group. He’s got his reasons and they actually do make sense, but you know…the journey and all. Great characters, great read and very interested in the next book after the cliffhanger from this one!
TW - ableism / chronic illness (omegas are predisposed to this and are treated lesser than as a result), lupus (sc, mentioned briefly), anxiety, panic attack, overstimulation from environment, migraine, alcohol consumption, blood / hospital-like setting, body / fat shaming incl from self and parents, emotional and verbal abuse from parents, disownment from parents, confinement, misogyny (setting), bigotry from family, toxic relationship, vomit / nausea (incl from anxiety), familial abandonment (mentioned), abortion / pregnancy (discussed, implied that a sc is pregnant), domestic abuse (past, implied, MMC’s parents), sexual assault (mentioned regarding alphas misusing their power), stalking (implied)
CW - voyeurism, exhibitionism, semi public play, light spanking
Representation -mental health rep, queer rep, bi rep, plus size FMC, polyam - MMMMF
Gold Rush is book 1 in an omegaverse duet that follows Juniper (FMC) who is on a UK book tour but, in London, things take a sharp turn when her new designation emerges. Seth (MMC) and Bennett (MMC) rally to help her after their chance encounter but, things aren't as simple as it seems. I love omegaverse so I was excited to pick up this book. I also love why choose. And I am a Londoner so this really had the makings to be a great book for me.
The characters were interesting to meet. Beyond those already mentioned, we've have also met Theo (MMC), the problem Alpha, and Arin (MMC) the prime. I liked Arin's demeanour and the way he can so easily take control of situations. Seth is admittedly my favourite so far, probably because he's a beta and not contributing to the Alpha bullshit. Theo is... developing. He clearly has a lot of shit going on that he needs to sort through to actually be apart of the new pack dynamic. He spits vitriol at Juniper and it grated on me that the others just... stood and watched it happen.
Despite my excitement for a London setting, it wasn't all that prevalent in the book and was mostly limited to "central London" which was disappointing to me. The plot itself is fine although, I did find it to get somewhat repetitive as nothing really happens beyond this book beyond Juniper's new designation and trying to sort the mechanics of her impending heat and, for this, I assume it would probably be better to read this duet back to back assuming book 2 brings us more character development and drives the plot forward.
There are defo some cozy and sweet moments that I enjoyed and the hit of omegaverse does it for me; I'm eager to see how the rest of the story unfolds in Gold Mine
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
Full disclosure: I sensitivity read the book for the author, and am mutuals with her. So you know I’m biased, but I’m going to tell you to read it anyway, as a total OV virgin who was thoroughly impressed.
What better way to step all the way into the omegaverse than by reading a book written by a friend. Be gentle with me, Ms Randolph!
And she was! GR is a strong yet gentle intro to omegaverse and at no point did I feel lost. June’s future pack is a motley crew of golden retrievers (with one asshole who’s also a bit of a retriever) with varying levels of BDE. These men would do anything for their newly discovered omega.
The author writes anxiety in a way that almost makes you uncomfortable because you can feel it through the pages. It’s hard to read how a woman’s very agency is jeopardized on the basis of biology alone and…ope. Moving on, I was happy that the men had their own dynamics and relationships within their group and it wasn’t all alpha bros who don’t fuck other bros which is a bit of an issue for me with many why choose books.
Seth and Bennett are sweethearts and Theo is a dick, but dear lord Daddy Arin can set a bedroom on fire. Or a table. You get the drift. And nerdy Dev Patel with glasses as the inspo?? Lord take me now. It is so refreshing to see the Indian man being the daddy dom, but like not in an icky way. And just when things were really heating up (heheh), the author left us on a jaw dropping cliffhanger.
Read if you like: -a world where everyone is bi -swords crossing -body diversity (in the MMCs too) -men who can fuck but also comfort
This is her first book ? OMG IS SO GOOOOD. Is already one of my favorites of the year, I love that June talks back and don’t take anyone bulshit, I also love that the alphas say sorry and COMMUNICATE. I really loved. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ one millions stars
OMG THAT CLIFFHANGER. i was wondering how the first book in this duet was going to end and i am SO glad i waited to read this until the second book was out.
this omegaverse universe is one that believes omegas are lesser than in the sense they can’t make their own decisions and need to be taken care of and only are good for breeding. it also adds in this interesting element of omega blood having a golden colour to it and alphas have a blackish colour to theirs.
Juniper/June is on a book tour in London when she designates as an omega. but she’s 28 and apparently omegas have never designated this late so no one know what to do with her bc this is all so unprecedented. she can’t leave the country to go back to the US since she’s about to go into heat, but their omega centers are meant for young girls with guardians to make their decisions for them. and who is going to want to pack her or help her through her heat when she’s…. older. somehow fate doesn’t give up on Juniper and the beta and alpha she was trapped in the elevator with before she designated find her and bring her home to give her a safe place to just…. exist. now she has some decisions to make with her impending heat while trying to grapple with what she wants and needs vs what her omega needs.
i love a beta in a pack of alphas who know what they want and take charge. don’t get me wrong, alphas & knots, but betas bring something into a pack an alpha can’t. esp when it’s a beta like Seth, who knows that he can’t let Juniper slip through his fingers again and needs to help her.
but OMG Theo, what a jerk. he’s the reluctant alpha in the pack that doesn’t want an omega and doesn’t want her in his house. the groveling this man is going to need to do will need to be epic.
there’s also Bennett, Seth’s bonded alpha. and Arin, alpha and Prime of the pack.
this book had me feeling all the feels for Juniper. she just wants to feel safe but also wanted, and not just bc she’s an omega now.
this was such a great first book in this duet but also debut for the author. there were a few grammatical/text errors but easy to overlook and not enough to annoy me while reading. I immediately downloaded the next book and need to know what happens next.
MMMMF, 1st person multi POV, 28 fmc / 35 mmc / 36 mmc / ??? mmc / ??? mmc, M/F scene, MMF scene, MM scene, voyeurism, nesting, no OW/OM drama, courting, cliffhanger
This was my first omegaverse and I had so much fun!! @silvylinings raved about this book and I ran to sign up for the ARC and I’m so glad that I did!!
This was my second why choose and I ate it up!! I really enjoyed how diverse all the MMC’s were and how relatable June was. Arin is def my fav 👀 and jury is still out on Theo for me, I am unsure how I feel about the rejected trope, though I didn’t think it would be all sunshine’s and daisies for her coming into this pack.
I’m curious how the story will progress in book 2 and all the character developments to come. This was a really fun quick read and I will definitely be picking up the next book!! 💛
Thank you R.L. Randolph for this ARC 🫶🏼

There is so much to love about his book. It took me on a whole journey and made me laugh and cry and hurt and heal right along with the characters.
I loved everything about June's story. Her journey of accepting her own self-worth is so relatable, and is so well written. She reacts like anyone would when their whole life plan is derailed and they're alone and scared and in need of help. And the way the pack show up for her is the most beautiful story. It isn't easy and this book is them all working towards a new future together. The pack is made up of diverse characters who all have their own voices and goals, and integrating an omega was not part of the plan. But as much as they're there to save June, she's there to save them too they just don't know it yet.
The writing of this book was a real highlight for me. RL Randolph has a way of really drawing a reader into the story. I truly cared and connected with each of the pack members, and I am so excited for the the second part of this duo. And the spice scenes were more than worth the wait. Each man in the pack brings his own personality to the spicy times in the hottest way.
This book is for anyone looking for a story with heart, a story that's a journey of self-love and healing, and a story with heat!
* I received this book as an advanced reader copy *
An interesting twist on the classic omegaverse, this book combines spicy moments with unexpectedly cozy vibes. The chemistry between the characters is electric, yet there's a warmth and tenderness that makes the story feel heartwarming rather than overwhelming. This may solely be due to Seth though.
The world-building is pretty vague leaving you to focus on the characters, and while the romance is steamy, there's a strong sense of emotional connection that makes the story sing. Theo has a lot of growth to do. I am on pins and needles for Gold Mine.

I thiiiiink I’m the odd one out of the majority here. I was deep in the STRUGGLE bus with this book. It started off pretty good in the beginning but then the whole “she shouldn’t be here blah blah” started and my mind clocked out. I even took a solid break from reading because I wasn’t invested. I honestly didn’t connect with any of the male leads. I am glad that June stood her ground against Theo and his bullshit. I’m also glad that they kind of resolved issues between the two of them and came together. Thoooooough the cliffhanger implies some groveling in the second book. I just didn’t care for anything. The plot, the characters, the world. I picked up this book because someone said it gave vibes similar to Lola and the Millionaires. That duology is one of my FAVORITE omegaverse books and I did not think it was similar at all. Lola definitely had more of a slow-burn romance with each of the guys. Lola had a traumatic past. This book felt a little insta-lovey to me. I didn’t get the chemistry. I am intrigued with what happens in book 2 but I’m not going to pick it up anytime soon. Maybe I just need a break from omegaverse right now.
This is such a great debut! I was instantly on June’s side. She was completely overwhelmed with her new reality but was smart & practical while listening to her instincts. I loved all the MMCs and their page time was equitable. There were conflicts & hurdles to overcome, but everyone kept their promise of working through it together. I found the sex scenes to be creative and very hot. You should absolutely get the bonus novella.
Omegaverse/RH 3 Alphas; 1 Beta and 1 FC Omega/Fated Mates/Multi PoV
SYNOPSIS (Duet): This story is set in the Omegaverse, one where omega rights are reduced and they are treated as only fit to have babies and not to hold jobs or go to university. It’s not a dark Omegaverse however but somewhere in between dark and light. The FC, Juniper, has been a beta her whole life brought up by parents whose whole focus is the facilitation of classic Alpha/Omega pairings but who are anti pack. Whilst on a book tour to promote her most recent book Juniper emerges as an Omega and one on the verge of her first heat. At the age of 25 this is the oldest of any known omega so she doesn’t fit into the system and the expectations of the omega designation centre. She is kept confined at the Designation Centre and not allowed to leave. The DC try to find alphas for her but all she is offered are unsuitable as she is deemed to be too old to be of interest to most packs. Fortunately an Alpha and Beta that she bumped into hear about her on the news and, having been inexplicably drawn to her, agree to take her to their pack. The story that evolves over the Duet deals with how Juniper develops a relationship with the 3 Alphas and the Beta each with an individual focus and how she adapts to being an omega whilst there is a low level sub-plot of her possibly having a stalker as well as the emotional trauma of having a mother who picks on her body issues and insecurities whilst trying to force her into a one on one Alpha/Omega relationship.
HEAT LEVEL 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆 There are plenty of spicy scenes including MMF, MM and MF as well as some group scenes. There’s no kink or dom elements. Whilst some of the scenes are geared around the developing relationships that the FC is forming others are simply added spice.
The Duet is well written and the editing is OK. There is limited violence which is mainly focussed on the climax in Book 2 and is over quickly. There is some angst and drama but nothing that is dragged out or particularly dark. The story keeps moving over the Duet although it definitely goes through slow periods and could probably have been cut shorter. Having said that much of the length revolves around the development of the relationships with the MCs. The author takes time to focus on each relationship individually which provides some depth to the romance and not just a reliance on fated mates but it does make the story slow as there is little action to keep the reader engaged. There is a good amount of world building showing a world where omegas are simply for looking pretty and having babies with limited rights or support for autonomy and there is some simple character building for each of the main characters but no secondary characters other than those who are pivotal to the story or sub-plots.
The FC is likeable but a classic omega and the MCs fit the usual buckets of big and grumpy, bouncy & upbeat (Beta), calm and loving and powerful (Pack Lead) with possessive and protective elements. However none of the alphas are particularly “touch her and die” or come across as overtly dominant so they felt a bit subdued and the pack/family element seemed to lack some cohesion with individuals of the pack existing more as individuals in a group than part of a real pack and the FC having separate relationships. There were a few sub-plots with a stalker and an overbearing mother however these never really come to much drive the story. The whole stalker sub-plot seemed redundant in that there were only limited references to it through the books then suddenly everything comes to a head out of the blue in Book 2 and is sorted before you can blink. The part about the Beta’s background that suddenly comes to a head seems ridiculously manufactured and unbelievable and you don’t even get a full explanation before the book ends. I didn’t really understand the point. Why not have a real build up through the Duet that would add some mystery and drama to the story?
Overall this is an OK read if a bit slow and with no real action to get your teeth into. If a slow romance is your thing then this is the Duet for you. If you are looking for story or action with your romance maybe not so much.
Juniper/June is a 28-year-old Beta in the UK for a book signing. She writes romance novels about RH omegas and packs. But in this world, for some reason one omega in a RH pack is frowned upon. Omegas are expected to bond with a single Alpha.
At the book signing, she gets stuck in an elevator with Alpha Bennett and Beta Seth, who are a bonded pair. They aren't in the elevator for very long, but Seth was so nice to her while she was panicking, he made a good impression on her.
Later at the book signing, she starts perfuming like an Omega in front of all her readers, so she ends up all over the news as the oldest first-time presentation for an Omega.
She isn't allowed to leave the country because Omegas have no rights. They belong to their parents or to their Alpha. They also have segregation laws against Omegas, where hotels and airports don't have to let her stay there. So, Seth and Bennett find out what going on and agree to let her live in their pack house for time being.
There are two other Alphas in their pack, Arin and Theo. Arin seems like he can take it or leave it. At least at first, he doesn't have much interaction with June. Theo has some childhood trauma from growing up in a pack that abused his omega mother, so he doesn't want an omega in the pack house, even though June has nowhere else to go.
June really starts to like Seth and Bennett a lot, but she's resisting anything physical, at least until her first heat starts. I don't know why. She'll make out with one of them then say she wants to sleep in a separate room that night. She'll watch them have sex then run away to her own room after. It's a lot of push-pull for half the book, even though she knows she's going to have to end up having sex with them during the heat.

This is a pretty good effort. It does some stuff right: - It’s alluded to that the FMC is not skinny, though I can’t tell if she’s supposed to be plus sized. It’s actually fine for me. I don’t like when the FMC is plus sized and it’s her entire personality. - All of the characters have unique personalities and relationships with each other and with the FMC. - FMC is 28 and has a life and career when she unexpectedly presents as an Omega.
It also has some flaws: - I’m a little bit confused about the FMC’s financial status. The book opens with her signing a multi million dollar movie deal, and she’s in London for an international book tour, but she doesn’t seem to have access to any money, and she acts like she’s poor. I get that authors with a little bit of success aren’t rich, but this character is supposedly making a living and just had a big windfall. Why can’t she buy clothes? - The conflict in the book is centered around the FMC’s insecurity, and the MMCs failures to communicate. The MMCs vacillate on a dime with their hot and cold interest. It got a bit repetitive because it happened so often. - There’s some foreshadowing that bad actors are trying to get access to her, with suspicious cars lurking and a suspicious guy saying he’s her brother, but nothing comes of it in this book. - There’s a point in the book where the FMC realizes she doesn’t know much of anything about these alphas, and I agree with her. I’m not sure these people have talked about anything in depth, despite doing nothing but hanging out in the house all day. What does she even do all day? What do any of them do? At one point she bemoans not having her laptop, but then doesn’t do anything to fix that. She just puts a book back on the shelf in despair and wanders around some more.
The way that I could not put this book down. I am suchhhh a picky bitch when it comes to omegaverse but I just loved every second of this one. I am counting down the days until the next book because I need more!
Juniper is such a perfect balance of vulnerable and strong. She’s overall just super relatable and I adore her. It’s difficult to accomplish having a FMC that needs the MMC(s) so much, but isn’t lost beneath their personalities, imo.
Seth is obviously a fast favorite. I just love his energy and immediate commitment to helping June. But he’s more than the average funny, lighthearted MMC . He’s the catalyst for this pack and is a spicy instigator on top of it.
Bennett is an adorable and sexy balance between awkward and dominant. This sweet summer child can’t flirt for his life, but has a scandalous mouth in the bedroom and isn’t afraid to take charge. Also, food as a love language is top tier! Feeeeeee me!
Arin. Oh, Arin. Instantly in love with him. He’s giving majorrrrr daddy dom vibes. He has the type of power that doesn’t need to be verbalized. Once you’re in his presence, you can feeeeeel it. There’s no halfway for Arin. It’s all or nothing bayyyybeeeee!
That leaves us with Theo. My weaknessssss. The damaged asshole of the group. I knew I’d love him, even when I hated him. I can’t help myself!!
Anyways, I have a lot of feelings and I need more and I’m obsessed with this author now and want to make everyone in the world read this. Kthx
Listen to me. This may well be a new comfort read for me. The way I love this cast, the pack, the relationships.. ohmiGAAARD. This IS a duet so there is a cliffhanger, but part two is coming very soon!
“Do you want to know what I did for our alpha, June?”
I suck in a breath as he bends down, his lips barely touching mine.
“I wrapped my hand around him and I crawled down until he could fist my hair and push himself between my lips. And I laid there and took it as he used me like the good beta I am. I let him f•ck my face and my throat until I couldn’t breathe while he pretended it was you, and I loved every f•cking second of it.”
Seth is the kind of maximum energy golden retriever that we all absolutely ADORE. Bennett is the big calm Daddy feed-you and tuck-you-in-after-many-Os energy. Arin is the spank you and fix-all-your-problems Daddy energy. Theo is the hurt boi Alphahole you want to hate-boink.
Juniper fits right in and …. Ugh I can’t explain the way my heart is INVESTED IN THIS PACK.
She really does have what I’d consider appropriate responses to her life being turned upside down and her independence stolen. It’s very refreshing to see an almost 30 year old FMC in a story like this, especially omegaverse!
I really enjoyed this book🥲 — which omegaverse books can be hit or miss for me so I always go in with low expectations. Especially for a book like this with less than 300 pages— usually things feel rushed, it becomes insta love, and the smut just takes over.
However this was not the case for Gold Rush! I loved the take on omegas, alphas & betas all having a different strand in their DNA. It added something new to the omegaverse world and the dialogue was very well written. Again, it didn’t feel rushed, I felt like all the characters were pretty well written— atleast as much as they could be in part 1. ALSO‼️ I looooooved that we had MULTIPLE MCs in the pack who weren’t white!! very rare the alphas are diverse in the omegaverse world (and having a British accent does not count as diverse) and if they are melanated then that alpha is just a side character at best.
My ONLY complaints was Theo & her mom. I hate the rejection trope and Theodore’s I hate you because I think I should/trauma just didn’t do it for me🫠 Fingers crossed he redeems himself more in part 2 of this duet because he’s the last on my list for pack ranking. I’m hoping from part two we’ll learn more about the characters and also get into this random alpha her cunt mom was yapping about.

I really enjoyed this omegaverse. Juniper is such a sweet woman — insecure and struggling with anxiety, but also incredibly relatable, especially when it comes to the pressure she feels. She’s had a difficult childhood, and I absolutely hated her parents, especially her mother. The four men are all amazing: Seth (the beta) is the first Juniper meets, along with Bennett (alpha), followed by Arin and Theo, who unexpectedly find themselves with an omega in their home. Seth and Bennett are both sweet, protective, possessive, and passionate all at once, and I loved their dynamic and tender moments together. Arin, while a little unsure at first because he wants everything to be perfect and safe for Juniper, quickly falls for her and becomes deeply protective, giving off just a hint of daddish vibes. Theo is the alpha-hole of the group — doing everything he can to push Juniper away at the start, though it’s clear there’s a reason behind it. I can’t wait to see in the second book how their relationship will deepen. Juniper’s journey already feels so compelling, especially in terms of her personal growth and learning to overcome her insecurities and fears. I’m really looking forward to seeing how their story will unfold.
While a lot of the themes in Gold Rush are common in omegaverse (unexpected omega awakening, scent matches, omegas as 3rd class citizens, etc), Randolph still did something unique. We experience a fully fledged independent adult with a career lose their self agency overnight. June is 31, and has lived her entire life as a beta. She lives alone and has made it as an author. All of that becomes endangered when she suddenly emerges as an omega while traveling over seas.
All 4 of the main MMCs are unique and each builds a relationship with June at a different pace. We have every thing from insta love to a bit of bully.
While I enjoyed the second book in the duet, it was a bit all over the place. Instead of their being just one central conflict and one villain, we get two completely separate issues ( her parents objections and a stalker) and we throw in family secrets of mafia ties just for good measure.
I absolutely love seeing rich men treating their girl right haha. I breezed through this book in like a day and it was so nice seeing June meld with the pack and how they soothe her anxiety in unique ways. This was a very enjoyable read and I’m excited to start the next book in the series!
My only thing is that the arguments that the FMC has with the MMCs particularly Arin and Theo genuinely gave me whiplash every single time. Like her personality suddenly has a 180 change and it’s really difficult to follow the logical flow of all of their thoughts. Not that I don’t think their reasonings don’t make sense but rather I wish the author added a few more lines to explain their thought process and how it goes from point A to point B. It was especially apparent whenever she talks to Theo and I get that their dynamic is to be hot and cold but it still needs some explanation as to why he suddenly feels like he can be nice and why she curses him out all the time when she rarely speaks that way normally. But I could kind of overlook it with how sweet all the other scenes were.
🌟 4.1 It’s weirding me out how much I liked it, a perfect, light omegaverse read. It gave me a tinge of angst. I still got lots of good spice. I also really appreciated the length of the book.
Arin, Bennet, and Seth are awesome but also idiots for leaving her like this. Theo has made a good start on his grovel, but we need more. More!! He’s been a big a-hole, and must do more than profusely apologise while giving a nights worth of O’s. Personally, I want him on his knees, but that’s just me 😜
June lets her doubts take centre stage too much. It’s kinda like the song What It Sounds Like from kpop demon hunters, where they sing - we listened to the demons, we let them get between us, but none of us are out here on our own. June lets her demons get between her and a happy ending. Her and Theo both do, tbh. That song could have been written for them.
I eagerly await the reveal of this stalker. I look forward to Theo stuffing up his life more. I want more angst in this following book before the happily ever after. 👏🏼 👏🏼
I was thrilled for the older characters and the late-blooming Omega, and I definitely got caught up in the story. You have one pack member, Theo, who has never wanted an Omega. There's trauma involved that we still don't get the full backstory yet. Seth and Bennett are a bonded beta and Alpha pair, and they are instantly drawn to June. And Arin is kind of a wild card. We see him come out of his shell toward the end, but then he leaves on a trip. I easily connected with all of these characters...yes, even Theo. He let fear get in the way of a good thing, but he did end up trying to make up for it. There were a couple of times that one or two of the characters acted a bit out of character based upon what I had read of them, and it threw me off, but other than that, I really enjoyed this and am excited to see it finish.
When I say I went completely feral over this book-I am NOT KIDDING.
I wish I could read it for the first time again.
I don’t have a ton of experience with omegaverse, but the world was built in a way that was easily understandable and made total sense, without having to include a ton of expository passages.
The mental health rep, body diversity/body positivity, and bi representation were presented so beautifully and tenderly, you can tell the author really loves these characters and handles these serious topics tenderly and with great care.
Also-it’s so hot yall. That’s what we are here for right? The sexy bits progress naturally and make sense within the story and characterization.
Every guy is a delight, but they’re so different that it’s fun to learn everyone’s favorite upon reading.
Can’t wait for Gold Mine (Book 2) releasing very soon!!
This was so good and the cliffhanger is SO EVIL. Readers should know that it’s more erotica than romance, but it certainly has some character growth and plot. I liked that I could feel when the FMC was at ease or stressed from the writing and that the FMC was a great mix of vulnerable and strong. The MMCs are also significantly different which is great since that can be a problem with this genre. I am hoping in the sequel that there will be more of a response to the political oppression of omegas and also more of the characters bonding outside of intimacy. It is very insta-love which I liked a lot but it would be nice to see them like each other and bond on a more human level. Overall I can’t wait for the next one!!
this was a super cute omegaverse book that continues in a duology. i honestly enjoyed this take on omegaverse, with the fmc being “older” (note, she is 28, which to be fair does tend to be older for omegaverse books) and having to struggle with her entire life she built being flipped upside down.
this book specifically focuses on june discovering she is an omega and ramping up for her first heat. i’m excited for book 2 to see how the mmcs ease her anxieties about a lot of her life being stripped away from her (I really hope we get a deep dive into it!). All in all, this book seemed to lay a good framework for what to expect in book 2 and I am thoroughly looking forward to it.
Plot: It's a supernatural heirarchy based universe, where their is categorization based on your designation. This gets decided in the teen years but there are anamolies to it. Let's leave it at that..
Genre: Reverse Harem Romance, Slow Burn Romance
Highlight: +Multiple MMC and one FMC +Multiple POVs +Character Descriptions
There has been a lot of built up in this first part. The focus is to maintain the story but somehow the mature content is overshadowing the plot. I really hope the second part does the justice to the plot...
Personal favourite: The description at the end to introduce ourselves to the terminologies in the Omega Universe of this series. ✨
