I feel as though I have some major guesses on the twists this series will take, or I am just falling into the hands of the writer. With how unsure I am it really just helps to keep me engaged and loving this series. The concept alone is great but I love the differences in color from the real world to Harvey’s mind prison, such a great detail.

This issue opens to a flashback years ago when two-face spent his time breaking into blackgate trying to track down and kill Maroni, it appears he was unsuccessful but we now find him today trying to do better through his work in the white church. One thing I love that they point out is that the white church is constantly moving locations and has lookout teams to make sure a certain bat doesn’t interrupt. But all the while Harvey senses the work of the shadow hand undoing his work as he works tirelessly off to the side to find out who they are.

But courts in session today, and we now focus on the deadly divorce of the king and queen of the royal flush gang. Seems the Queen got some dicey pictures of the king in bed with another woman and wants him to pay for it…with blood if needed. But Dent is currently stalling the court, the images weren’t presented during discovery and he needs to confirm the validity of them. Which is where his helper that he recruited last issue comes into play. We find her snooping into the pink palace. Dent noticed the woman king was with in the images wasn’t any old bunny rabbit…but the white rabbit! And in the mirror you can see Jaina Hudson taking the pictures. Which is the secondary person that white rabbit can split into. So if this was some secret affair, why would she take the pictures herself? At its simplest the king has been setup, but dent believes the shadow hand is moving pieces.

We now jump over into the mind prison as big bad Harvey sulks around through the prison filled with memories meant to drown him out and keep him docile. But one memory in particular peaks his interest…Maroni.

Back in court the hilariously stereotypical country lawyer representing the Queen is trying to stop the delay and get court moving. The judge does agree that the crowd is getting restless but Dent claims that if they had simply submitted the photos pre-trial then they wouldn’t be waiting, but that may have been part of Mr. Bourré’s plan all along. This enraged the lawyer and caused his “Kentucky fried souther drawl” to slip a bit. Judge brings everyone back to order and gives dent 10 more minutes to get this back on track.

Within the mind prison Bad Harvey has sat down with Maroni at a chess table. It’s funny because Maroni starts to go into memories about his dad playing chess, but all these words are meaningless as it’s just Dent filling in the blanks for info he doesn’t really know. Bad Harvey claims that it’s Dent that thinks about Maroni not so much him. Maroni does point out that maybe he should be thinking of him more…he did create him, didn’t he? Bad Harvey claims he would have made it out sooner or later, and he just can’t make his way back out yet. But Maroni shifts the convo, are they gonna try and kill each other or does he not want that anymore. Bad Harvey does lament, Harvey was angrier at Maroni than he was but they do have a certain influence on each other…

Back in court things are hearing up. The Queen is ready to draw blood and see an end to things, forcing Gavel to hold her back. All the while ace has marched up and broken down the doors to the courtroom, not wanting to see his father hurt. Dent prepared for the possibility of Ace showing up and the next scenes cut between dent taking down ace with the same type of acid that created him, and bad Harvey in the mind prison taking down Maroni. Dent gets right on the line of killing both, right as his assistant shows up and brings order to everyone.

Turns out that Harvey was right it was the white rabbit. She got away but not before she found a fake mask and costume so someone could become the king. Harvey immediately realizes what is happening and shoots the lawyer representing the Queen! He goes over and rips the fake face mask off the lawyer only to reveal a Harvey dent mask underneath! Bourre asks if he is as convincing as dent, but dent shrugs it off it has to be a bluff he couldn’t know that dent is faking. But everything comes back together when the Queen asks what is happening. Bourre aka false face (what a throwback wow) was hired to disguise as her husband for this photos to guide towards a king’s execution and Dent just exposed him.

But before anything else can happen a smoke bomb fills the room. The king freaks out, it has to be the bat. But Dent confirms with his men they haven’t seen any sign of him. Through the smoke the patrons can see the figure of the bat lurking but Dent knows the truth it’s not him and they have lose sight of false face. All that’s left is two masks and an empty suit.

Back in the mind prison we see that bad Harvey did kill Maroni, but it’s a meaningless gesture he is nothing but a thought and can easily come back to life and be killed again. And bad Harvey had more things on his mind, like getting out of there. Maroni says there is no chance with the warden watching, but bad harvest EG points out that dent has forgotten it’s not just his head…and bad Harvey has been building as well. Back in the real world, Harvey sits back and enjoys a drink, it’s been a long day and the Queen doesn’t take the king. The final page gets us our first full look at the shadow hand. False face doesn’t know how he found him, but his girl finding white rabbit didn’t help. Their boss, still shrouded in shadows, knows he is not to be underestimated…but neither is the shadow hand! This group consists of false face, white rabbit/Jaina Hudson, Die, and doubt. Plus the mysterious figure who claims Harvey took everything from him. What a random assortment of villains, I love it. Now this shadowy figure, based on his normal looking hands and how the plot is going I think they want us to think it’s Maroni. But that’s too easy. So I’m instead going to guess it’s Dent’s assistant’s dad who she talked about dying. He isn’t dead and somehow Harvey ruined his life. Boom mark my words calling it now lol. Either that or it’s revealed to be Harvey with a phantom of the opera type mask and a third personality lol. I doubt that even more though. Loving this series and can’t wait to see what a matchmaking in hell looks like next issue.

This is a solid second issue in a series I was wary to continue. I thought the first issue was solid, with depth I wasn't expecting and intrigue with this "White Church" concept, and I also wanted to know more about this Lake Cantwell character. I hesitated, however, because I felt like I needed a change from the dark and somewhat disturbing comics and stories, and maybe needed to focus on some lighter stuff for a bit. At the last moment, I decided to pull this one, too, and I'm actually glad I did.

The "Mind Prison" concept in this is not only fascinating as a way to show "Bad Harvey" and how he exists in Dent's mins, but it was also drawn very well as a concept.

The story itself isn't totally original, though it had a twist I didn't really see coming, though I wasn't floored by it or anything. It was just nice to not see it play out the way it seemed it was going to.

The dual voices, and different fonts, play well with the colors and different angles in the panels in this one, and really paint "Bad Harvey" as an entirely different character at points. Overall, this has been a more interesting beginning than I expected, so I think for now I'm going to stick with it.

Really enjoy the use of typography here, especially for Harvey’s assistant. How she needs to put sentences together like a puzzle due to hearing is really unique and caught my attention. I also enjoyed the different fonts and colours for the different personalities. Look forward to getting into this series more!

Pretty cool. I really enjoy the premise to this series. I don't care too much about the "big bad" as I do the case of the week, but whatever, it's still fun.
