When the FMC tries to rip a man’s face in half in chapter 1 - I know it’s gonna be a good time.
Spencer is the chaos we all wish we could unleash on the men in our lives. Her last name may be King, but she’s a queen in my books.
Echo is a tortured bad boy who will only relent his rakish ways for our unhinged FMC.
If it is banter you’re here for there is no shortage. You’ve got the sisters, their boyfriends and all the side characters with giant egos and even bigger mouths. Add in the fact that they’re all lethal in their own right and you’ve got the perfect storm for shit talking excellence.

Delightfully deranged. Spicy and just the right amount of over the top. A bloody masterpiece.

Spencer and Echo are a dynamic pair. Equally unhinged and ruthless in their dealings. Spencer is a King in hiding, trying to find out what happened to her family and regain the power that has been lost. Echo is living the high life in Vice without a care in the world. After Spencer kills the wrong person, she enters into Echo's orbit, and once she's there, she has no hope of escaping alive.

The intricate workings of these underground societies are so delightfully interesting and intriguing. Having variants give them literal strength and power over other people, and they use that to run the city. Spencer and Echo give me serious Joker and Harley vibes, and I am here for it. They both are a little unhinged, but they live for it and they take you along for the ride. Echo, ever the bad boy heartbreaker, breaks all of his rules and falls for Spencer almost immediately. He denies it, but we know he's obsessed and we're rooting for him from the beginning. Spencer is absolute chaos and lives for making Echo's life hell. She's wild and ruthless and absolutely stunning. She's the badass we all wish we were. When Echo and Spencer come together, it's explosive. It's hot. It's perfectly excuted chaos, and their attraction to one another is undeniable.

I am obsessed with this series, and I cannot wait for the next book. Also, Fran is the most delightful little side character, and I absolutely loved him. He's got full main character energy in that tiny little doggy body.

This is an MF romance and is book two of the Temple of Kings series. You’ll want to start with book one, Godless Creatures. This was a 5 star, 4 spice read for me! The FMC is so bad a$$!! Tropes include: enemies to lovers, dark themes, dystopian world, everyone is morally gray, secrets, found family, soulmates, revenge, action, open door spice, supernatural abilities, dual POV.

I would normally offer up my own plot summary, but V’s blurb does the book justice. I absolutely loved this and book one. I absolutely loved book one and couldn’t wait for this story to be published! If you’re looking for a spicy mystery full of secrets and twists, this one is for you!

What do we love more than an unhinged MMC? A bad ass FMC 👌🏼
And here I was thinking nothing could outdo Micah and Psycho, I will not disclose the amount of times throughout this book I imagined what it would like to experience Echo's variant.
From the minute I finished Godless Creatures I was counting down the days until the next book knowing full well I am officially hooked, and here I am, once again, finished a masterpiece by V. Brown and (im)patiently awaiting the next!

V did it again. I thought I couldn’t love characters more than Micah and Psycho and she proved me wrong. I’m not sure I’ll ever be over Spencer. The power dynamic between her and Echo was 👩🏼‍🍳💋. Can’t wait for the next!

fran gives off main character vibes. i love him and for spencer.

spencer & echo are “touch and scorched earth” couple. definitely toxic to everyone in their way. they are a force to be reckoned with. i enjoyed their push and push relationship.

i was so excited to read this. i liked the first one a lot even though it did take a while to understand the supernatural element. in the first chapter our fmc ripped off a guy's jaw off and i was so thrilled to read about a badass h. from there it kind of went downhill. sometimes i didn't like the mmc's povs because they were disgustingly cringey. there was also a long, hard to read smut scene halfway through that gave me so much second hand embarrassment that i almost dnfed. i didn't though because i really liked the first one and i thought it couldn't get any worse, which thankfully it didn't. made me laugh plus echo and spencer were cute together when i wasn't physically recoiling from uncomfortable and awkward this book could be at times.

wouldn't have guessed the plot twist at the end and i can't wait for ava's novella and emerson's book (was a little sad that they weren't wlw together but still looking forward to their stories)

Now, I love my MMC as unhinged as the next person, but when I read about the FMC who can match and BEAT that in a book? Done. Sign me the heck up! Echo and Spencer were unhinged, yet so chaotically perfect for each other. “And that little dog too”. I think Fran could have his own chapter.. heck his own book if he wanted. He’s the true MVP here.
Ive been waiting for Spencer’s story since Godless Creatures and VBrown did NOT disappoint with this one. The plot, the characters, the spice? It was everything I didn’t know I needed and so much more.
