This book was very emotional to read. You can tell by the beginning you will need tissues. When you start the book you think you know what way it is going. Then you find out it went into a total different direction. I feel like I lost a family member. These longer book series do that to you. Please make sure you have tissues and are prepared to be mentally and emotionally drained after reading this amazing book.

Steel is the 10th book in the VMDC MC by Elise Gedicke.
I’m going to warn you that this book may be hard for some readers to get through due to the heavier content.
Now, the overall story is really very good and as per the normal for Elise Gedicke the writing was really well done, it was just the content that was harder for me to get through. And I really did enjoy this book, and getting to go back to the very beginning of the VMDC Via Daemonia was really fun for me. Over the past few months, I have fallen in love with the VDMC world and this book felt like it was both a beginning and almost an end for some reason. And I knew that for characters, this was a brand-new start and a new beginning in this world.
Ever since I met this world, I have loved Steel and Jenna and I have always been intrigued by their relationship, how they always just fit together, and their romance has always been one of my favorites of the series. And I’ve always been curious about how their romance started.
I honestly loved how deeply and truly Steel and Jenna loved each other. I loved how no matter what they always showed up for each other even when their lives were hard or they didn’t know what their next steps were or should be. No matter what they always knew the other was going to have their back.
I think that’s part of what really hit so hard about this book and why it hurt so much, Jenna and Steep go through so much in this book and you can’t help but feel like some of the things that they did, it was out of character for who they were at their very core. And yet, at the same time, no matter what, I think that this is exactly what they would have done no matter what, all due to their trauma, and what the entire club is built to be. Everyone is so shocked and shaken up and hurting after the dust settles. And so much of what happens through this story is all born out of the shared trauma of Jenna and Steel.
This is such a wild heavy emotional roller coaster ride and I felt everything, every emotion while I was reading this book. It was so emotional and so many times it was unconditionally devastating and heart shattering. You watch these kids grow up and due to grief and trauma grow and change so much that they no longer act the same way they once did as they are no longer the same people.
Out of the entire series, this is the hardest one to read and get through, so please, make sure you read and pay attention to the trigger warnings and that your in the right headspace before you dive into this book.
I recommend this book, just be ready for an emotions to hit hard, the story is going to demand your vulnerability, and it’s going to offer an intense, multi-layered romantic reading experience. Elise has written a masterpiece that surpasses your typical genre and it’s not going to deliver the typical genre expectations. Steel will give you a profound exploration of love, resilience, and sacrifice that many will completely understand and feel in their own bones.
I received an ARC copy for free and this is my honest review.
✨Review Highlights✨ -Emotionally heavy read - Well written - Incredibly emotional plot - Heavy triggers (major one is child loss due to gun violence) please check content warnings - Well paced - Relatable characters
This book was hard for me to get through because of some of the heaver content of the book. The story is still really good and the writing was so well done, it was just a hard read for me. That being said I still really enjoyed this book. I have been in the VDMC world since the beginning and this book felt like the beginning of the end for some and a completely new beginning for others in this world.
Steel and Jenna have been some of my favorite characters in this entire series. I love their relationship and how they have always just fit together. Their romance has always been one of my favorites in the series. I love how they love each other and always show up even when life is hard, or they don't know the next steps. They always have each other. I think that is another reason why this book hurt so much. They go through it in this book and I just couldn't help but feeling like some of the things that they did were too far out of character for them. At the same time I feel like that is exactly what they would do, because they are going through a whole lot of trauma, the whole club is. Everyone is shocked and hurting and so much of what happens in this book is borne from shared trauma.
I felt a lot of heavy things while I was reading this book. It was very emotional and at times utterly devastating. It was hard for me to do a star rating on this book, because it was written so well and the story was powerful, but there were so many things that happened that I felt was not true to the characters that I grew to know and love in this series. At the same time these characters are in a state of grief and change so they wouldn't act the same as they once did.
I would recommend this series, this book is a tough one though, so make sure you are in a good headspace before reading. As always check your triggers and happy reading.
WOW! I thought I was ready for this book. I thought I knew what to expect. Let me just say nothing is more far from the truth as this book is more than I ever expected. I was gripped right from the beginning and this book made everything I thought I knew about the VDMC, and Steel in particular, go right out the window. I received an arc copy of this book from BookSirens and the author for my honest review. These are my own thoughts. Well let me just start by saying get your tissues ready girls before you start to read this book (trust me you’re going to need them). At one point I was sobbing so bad my family thought something happened to me. The way this author deals with emotions on such a realistic scale is truly amazing, especially when you realize that this is a MC romance. The interactions between Steel and Jenna, as well as the rest of the MC family with these two is just perfection. This is not a typical romance per se and the spice level is low (1/5), but the love between Steel and Jenna surpasses 5/5. The attention that Steel gives to Jenna and her needs since her MS diagnosis is the true meaning of love, and what I hope to obtain one day. The love of the found family for these two is also amazing. Those who are familiar with the series know that Steel and Jenna have been together for years, starting as friends in their teens and progressing to now. They’ve seen each other at their best and what they thought was their worst but nothing, nothing could have prepared them for the dark times upon them. I won’t spoil anything but the suspense that’s been building in the previous books finally comes to head in a mind exploding way, but beware. There are some definite darker moments in this book than others in the VDMC series, yet not as dark as some of the other books by this author (aka ¨Vengence of Childhood Preportions¨). I highly recommend reading the previous books in this series to really enjoy this one. Those who have will be happy so see many familiar faces, and yes there is a Scar sighting. I also suggest reading the trigger warnings as this is a high emotion book. 5 stars
A Heartbreaking Masterpiece — Raw, Powerful, and Utterly Unforgettable
Steel is the book I’d been waiting for — and I knew it was going to break my heart. I just didn’t realize how completely it would shatter me.
From the very first pages, Elise Gedicke pulled me into a whirlwind of emotion. I went in with so many theories about what might happen, but none of them came close to the truth. If you think you know what’s coming — trust me, you don’t. Nothing in the previous Via Daemonia MC books fully prepares you for what unfolds here.
I cried more times than I can count. The story of Steel and Jenna — their love, their losses, their strength in the face of pain — is so intense, so beautifully raw, that it’s impossible not to feel every single moment. This isn’t just a romance; it’s a story about life, love, mortality, and what it means to fight for the person who is your entire world.
Steel is, without question, a masterpiece. Elise Gedicke has always written emotional and powerful stories, but here she surpasses herself. This book is deep, gut-wrenching, and painfully real — filled with love, fear, grief, and hope. I hated her (in the best way) while reading because my heart broke again and again… but when I turned the final page, I was in awe of what she created.
I won’t talk about the plot — this is one of those stories you need to go into blind to truly experience its full emotional weight.
I’ve read nearly 300 books this year — almost 200 of them MC romances — and I can say without hesitation that Steel is my #1 MC romance of 2025. I’m not sure how I’ll move on from it. It’s haunting, beautiful, and unforgettable.
Have your tissues handy for this book. Steel, Jenna and the whole VDMC are gutted by a horrific incident that changes them forever. The loss, regret and guilt come through in spades before the need for vengeance and the VDMC’s own brand of justice takes hold. This book is dark, starkly emotional, heartbreaking really, but it concludes on a note of hope and renewal.
Steel is the guy everyone wants in their lives. He is a protector and warrior to his core, his priority keeping those he cares for safe, especially his beloved Jenna and the family they have created. His stark pain and guilt over the incident (I don’t want to give any spoilers) brought me to tears as did Jenna’s. Still he buries his pain to be strong for others, even as he seeks answers and plots his vengeance. The true, soul-deep connection between Steel and Jenna is never more evident than in this book. Despite the trauma, they gravitate to each other, need each other to keep moving through life. They are indeed soulmates. The bonds between the VDMC members are also strong and very well illustrated in this book. They support and protect each other unconditionally. One members pain is shared by all, as is the search for answers and the wrath of vengeance.
This is one book that will be impossible to forget. Brava, Elise Gedicke. Brava.
Elise did her thing with this book. You will go through a rollercoaster of emotions reading Steel. Had me crying in the first few pages. Had to put the book aside a few times to wipe the tears and blow my nose.
Steel and Jenna are that couple. Their feelings for each other is beyond love. They are so enmeshed that and aware of each other's thoughts and feelings. Steel always says if Jenna goes, then he goes.
The story is emotional when it comes to the pair, but the story also touches on the other members and what is going on in their lives during this time.
The story will give you what you need in a book--family love and support, enemies coming forth and being put down, vengeance, Scar (my fav character, along with his wife Tally) scenes, Ghost coming into his own (glad his book is next), other MC appearances (which now I need to read)..
Although, there is sadness, I see what Elise did and she did it in a great way. You will definitely enjoy this book, just have the tissues nearby.
Jenna and Steel’s story isn’t all centred on romance, but on what comes after. As they age, Jenna faces the realities of living with illness while Steel continues his dangerous pursuit of justice. This final chapter of their journey is filled with turmoil, grief, and loss — but also loyalty, family, togetherness, and love.
Fair to say there are trigger warnings for some, including death and gun violence. They go through a lot of trauma and change, and the way it ripples through the people around them is handled with real honesty and care. What struck me most is how truthfully this book portrays ageing, illness, and the weight of choices made decades earlier. It doesn’t shy away from pain, but it never loses its hope either.
It’s a story that reminds you real love isn’t perfect — it’s persistent. This is a brilliantly executed, deeply moving, and beautifully written novel. Elise has truly poured her heart and soul into it, making this a must-read that will stay with you long after the final page.
Steel and Jenna’s second story made me cry and angry all at the same time ! The main characters as well as all of their family and friends ( plus chosen family ), was blown to pieces by a man who was angry he wasn’t chosen first , as well as a few other things. But those things had nothing to do with the main characters of the story, but they still were made to suffer. Not only was Jenna forced to grieve the loss of her daughter, she was also dealing with the loss of her life as she knew it. With the Late Onset Multiple Sclerosis that had been diagnosed, she was fighting to live in a body that didn’t know how to continue to do every day things, such as button a shirt, kiss her husband walk. And severe stress brought on outbreaks ! The adversity they were going through was excruciating, and I felt for them. They’re choosing to leave, I got that. It was also a no win subject, but at the time, it was probably the only way they saw forward for themselves and their chosen family. 5✨’s for an impressively well written book, full of feelings. I can’t wait to read the next book. Best to read the books in order, but may be read as a standalone. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a great book. The love Steel and Jenna portrayed in this book is the type of love everyone wants to share. The knowledge that no matter the heartache or hurt, they would work thru it together. It breaks my heart that with her ms diagnosis, there's an ending in their sights and with the way he loves her, he will choose to not go on without her. I'm glad that they are going traveling, because I didn't think I could watch Jenna slowly die and Steel choose to follow her. That would be heartbreaking. The conversation between Steel and Lucky shows that Lucky also knows he'll never see them again. Ollie, probably.... But not Steel and Jenna. The emotions in this is where the book got it's 5 stars.
An amazing emotional journey. Keep some tissues on hand. Absolutely well written and engaging from the start. The love, the grief of losing a child and the code of honor between the club members. I'm actually at a loss for words complimenting the author on her wordbuilding, the way you'll be drawn into the ups and downs. This definitely ticked more boxes than I expected. I'm definitely planning on reading the previous books as this book resonated with me and the storyline kept bringing more surprises even if some were harsh, e.g. torture, etc. Excellent and authentic. I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary Thank you BookSirens
Steel is book ten of the Via Daemonia Motorcycle Club Series.
This one is a deeply informative and emotional read. It starts with us wondering about the events which led Steel to where he is in this moment. Then we get to go back in time to see everything that led to where he is. He goes through a dark transformation. Someone important to him has been taken from him and he will do everything he can to get the vengeance he needs to be able to move forward with his life.
This is a bit more of a profound and overwhelming read. This is not a fun loving one that we have seen in the past. We get a lot more strong topics which we have to see Steel and the rest of the gang go through.
Get your tissues before you start reading this book! This one broke my heart! I cried during this book and my husband thought something was seriously wrong. This will be one of my most memorable reads of 2025! I wish I could read it again for the first time.
Jenna and Steel have the love, passion, and relationship that most people dream to have with someone. They have been through so much since they met when they were teenagers. Their family and club family are so large and so supportive.
Elise has done a fantastic job with this book and series! She creates great characters who you fall in love with and just want the best for all of them. This one won’t leave you disappointed.
Wow, this one went to so many places. Light and heavy, bright and dark, happy and complete devastation. Steel and Jenna were divided yet still united and they faced situations no parents or family ever want to have. The club is a family and they are there for the members through thick and thin. Steel went to his darkness place and looked like he may not get back. His ride n die got him through. I was amazed how this author could deliver such an intense book and still never lose the meaning behind the series. Top outcome. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wow — this book was nonstop emotion from the very start! I went in thinking the story would focus on something entirely different, and I was completely blown away by the turn of events. Steel and Jenna have been through so much already, but this installment truly tests their relationship and strength in ways I didn’t expect.
The author’s writing is so powerful that I found myself in tears more than once. I’ve said it before, but this book absolutely reinforces how much I adore this series. I’m already excited to see where things go next! 💙📚
This is the continuation of Steel and Jenna's story. It's an emotional read that hits all kinds of feels. The plot is well written, the pacing is on point, and the characters are relatable. It's a really good solid read. This is a page turner that I just could not put down. Loved every bit of this story. And I was surprised by the turn of events that occurred. Overall, this is an amazing book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks to the author for an advance copy. My opinions are my own and freely expressed.
OMG! Going into this book, I knew it was going to be a heartbreaker. I didn't think it would be a whole tissue box worth. It starts with the changing of the guard at President of the MC, as Steel steps down to take care of Jenna. As the two deal with Jenna's physical limitations, there is also someone from Jack's past set on destroying him. What an amazing story of true love soulmates, family, loss, vengeance and determination! I couldn't put the book down. If you are a fan of the Via Daemonia MC, you won't want to miss this one.
I knew this story would be hard to read. I thought I knew what it would be about but I was so wrong. It was so much more than I could ever imagine. There are few authors who can write a love story that gives you the descriptions of the pureness of it, the good, the bad, the ugly, the desolation, the sickness, the health, the grief, and any other emotion you want to throw in. This story had it all. It also takes you to some unexpected places. This will be on my TBR shelf for many more times. One read through is not enough.
I’m completely gutted!!! I knew this story was going to wreck me, but I foolishly didn’t have any clue how much it was going to tear me apart in unexpected ways!!
Steel (Jack) & Jenna have been each others be all and end all since the day they met and it never wavered in all their years together and whatever life threw at them.
A beautiful piece of work from Elise with devastating moments that I didn’t even think to imagine and as much as it broke my heart, I wouldn’t change a single thing.
Spoilers so don't read if you have not read book!!!!!!! So this book was so heartbreaking for me. I waited to read this book cause I knew something bad was gonna happen. I will say Steel will always be my favorite cause he loves not only Jenna and his kids bit the Club too. For him to leave it broke my heart in so many ways. The only good thing is Jenna is still with him. For me Steel will always be the backbone for the club.
This was an emotional roller coaster of a story and I am still reeling from all that it held in its pages. The drama unfolded but Steel held true to his Jenna...always. Even above the MC his heart held her close and he put her and his family above himself. With that being said the MC, his found family, sticks by him and Ghost emerges as a leader. All I can say....grab your tissues and hold on tight!
It's hard to write this review. Only because I don't want to give a single thing away. You must read it with fresh unbiased by anyone else's takeaway. This book was beautiful and tragic and cathartic in so many ways. I will say it wasn't what I expected to happen. You will want to throw your book, beat up the author, kiss the author, un@live people, and more than likely will cry but you will also love.
I read the earlier Steel & Jenna book and cried my eyes out through most of it. Excellent book but still. I started this and it was much the same. I was crying again and decided I needed happy. So I put the book aside. I was kind of dreading getting back to it. But I did eventually. If only I would have read a couple more pages I would have been okay. Another good read….just waiting for Ghost now.
In my opinion, Steel is by far the best in the series the characters are engaging and well-rounded with a storyline that is filled with suspense drama, and plenty of action. Steel also deals with some heavy emotions that might be triggering for some reader's .
I received an advance reader's copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Well after the prologue I thought this book would be completely different. Never imagined the switch but still tears were cried and the ending was not expected either. I just never saw them taking Ollie and riding off into the sunset. I hope this won’t be the end for them maybe we could just check in occasionally. I know Ghost needs to stand on his own but no Steel and Jenna will be such a change. When Jenna goes there will truly be an ending and surely it can’t be held against Steel for going too.

Steel and Jennas story is an emotional rollor coaster of highs and extreme lows- tissues at the ready! The opening sets you up for heartache but the story weaves its way to mend even with a heavy heart. As Ghost steps up as prez what life awaits those after loss. Well written engaging, twists, emotions, trauma, love and loss
This book was excellent it emotional wrecked me, Steel and Jenna have always been two of my favorite characters in the VDMC series. Elise did not disappoint when she wrote this story. So much packed into these pages and I can't wait for what is coming from this series. One of my all time favorites. Will need tissues or several boxes of tissues
VDMC book 10 brings us Steel and Jenna's emotional journey. It was very heavy on the heart and most definitely sticks with you long after it's over. This author has such a way with words and as devastating as Steel and Jenna's story was it's absolutely a story I could read over and over and be certain I'd still get all the feels.
Oh my God! What did I just read .. this book is at least a 10 tissue box read. I can't say too much but this story is just wow. We really meet Steel not Jack and we see a hardness to Jenna that we haven't seen before. So much tragedy and intensity. I loved this story and am a little sad to see Steel and Jenna off.
💓💖💓 Steel and Jenna 💓💖💓 Steele is a hard man but his soft spot is Jenna! This book will make you cry, laugh and feel all sorts of emotions! Elise Gedicke tells this story with grace, love and honesty! If you love via Daemonia MC… this is a must read!
