This book was hard to put down. Especially once it got into the story line. I wouldn't say reading the first book is required. But it's highly recommend to do so. It was a bit confusing on how it jumped from real name to Nick name several times within a page. Definitely where the first book would have helped to understand. I wanna do the forehead slap to myself with how long it took me to understand that Jo and Jonah was the same person 🤣🤣🤣🤦In my defense this book does bounce back and forth a lot from Nick names to given names instead of just sticking to one or the other. But I truly enjoyed the story. And if there is a 3rd book I already have a idea on the couple 🤣🤣🤣

The Fate Sequence is a gripping, atmospheric read that pulls you into a world of high stakes, shifting loyalties, and morally complex characters. With a tone that leans into a ‘mafia-esque’ intensity, the story is brimming with tension, intrigue, and a sense of inevitable fate that keeps the pages turning. The prose is smooth, the pacing is sharp, and the world feels lived-in—full of danger, secrets, and power struggles that make for an absorbing read.

Where the book truly shines is in its mood and momentum. The tension never lets up, and the characters exist in a space where right and wrong blur, making their choices all the more compelling. That said, I did find myself wishing for more depth in the character arcs. While the story delivers plenty of action and intrigue, some of the personal growth and emotional beats felt a little underdeveloped. A deeper dive into the characters’ motivations and transformations would have elevated this from great to outstanding.

Still, The Fate Sequence is absolutely worth picking up if you love stories with a noir edge, morally gray protagonists, and an undercurrent of danger that keeps you hooked until the very end. If you're looking for a fast-paced, tension-filled read with a dark, immersive atmosphere, this one should be on your list!

I made it back to Coledare Island, and I am so happy I did 😍

First, I've got to apologise for such a delay! It's been one thing after another since..... well, October, if im honest. But I'm trying to get back on track and not be soooooo behind on sharing these wonderful books!

And now, the reason you're here 😂 The Fate Sequence is Book 2, and it follows our wonderful Sarah and Carson this time! I love a good, interconnected standalone, and this one is action from the word go! This dark romance is full of TWs, so please, for your own wellbeing, check them out before you dive in! If you like what you see, welcome! If not, that's absolutely fine as well! I want you to be okay! No book, however good, is worth a health decline! 🥰🥰

Sarah and Carson have worked side by side for so long that they're perfectly in sync, and their chemistry is out of this world! Their personal relationship kept in secret because Sarah's brother wouldn't approve (he doesn't think anyone is good enough for her, to be fair 🤣🥰) however, when a job pushes them to their limits and everything seems to spiral out of control, its love that will keep things afloat.... right?

With several twists and turns, this one will keep you guessing at the mystery and cheering for our hâcking and tracking couple to fight for that HEA that they deserve!

The Fate Sequence
The Coledare Islands Series Book 2
By Shae Lenore

Contemporary Dark Romance
Dual POV
Mafia style
Hackers
Friends to Lovers
Age gap
Best friends brother / sister

Okay so The Fate Sequence, though it can be read as a stand alone, does follow on from a Twist Of Fate (book 1) but rather than this book following Frankie and Cayson this one is following the blossoming romance between Sarah and Carson. It was great to see Shai blossom with her writing as an author in this book as I found it to be a great deal better than book one in this series though the epilogue was a little rushed in my eyes.

You have Sarah the FMC who is Carson's best friends little sister with whom he works closely with for the duration of the book to track down a group of k¡dnappers that have taken Morgan who is one of Sarah's childhood friends. Whilst doing this they work through the ups and downs of life's and relationships struggles they both face both in their own lives and with each other.

All in all it was a captivating read.

The Fate Sequence releases February 21st 😘🖤

This captivating standalone novel follows a dynamic duet as they work together to save a missing woman. The mystery keeps you hooked, and the reveal of the kidnapper is a complete surprise—one I definitely didn’t see coming at first.
What makes this book even more enjoyable is how well it covers all the necessary background details, so you never feel lost, even without prior context.
Beyond the thrilling mystery, the book also delivers on romance, making it a great pick for those looking to dip their toes into the world of spicy romance. The balance between suspense and passion is well executed, keeping readers engaged from start to finish.
Overall, I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an intriguing mystery with a touch of heat. Whether you’re new to the genre or a seasoned reader, this one is worth checking out!

I received an ARC of The Fate Sequence. Upon seeing that this was the second in the series I read A Twist of Fate first. The author said it wasn’t necessary because this could be read as a stand alone, but I do not agree. The Fate Sequence follows two side characters from the first book, Sarah and Carson. However, this book alludes to a lot of background information on Frankie and Carson that you would only know if you read the first book.
I think this book would have been better off just focusing on Sarah and Carson’s work relationship and finding Morgan, because that was the best part. I didn’t really care to learn about their romantic relationship, and don’t feel like they needed to have one.

This book follows the first book A Twist of Fate. It was easy to get pulled into this story, hard to put down as I finished in one sitting. It follows Sarah and Carson - Sarah is the younger sister of Carson’s best friend.

Although Sarah struggles with her brother not approving of their relationship, romance is blooming as Carson knows what he wants and reassures Sarah. As Sarah and Carson are forming and discovering their relationship they also are working together in trying to find Sarah’s friend Morgan who goes missing.

This story is a little faster paced than the first book. The tension keeps a grip on you. Very well written and I will be watching to see if there will be a book three. Would recommend

The Fate Sequence is book two of The Coledare Island Series.

This book focuses on Carson and Sarah, who we met in the first book of the series. Sarah is conflicted with their relationship as her brother seems to disapprove of it. She flip flops a bit throughout with their relationship. However, Carson is the compete opposite. He knows what he wants and is a solid foundation behind Sarah letting her know he is not going to leave her.

There is some mystery involved as they are trying to locate Morgan who has gone missing. We get to see Sarah and Carson work together professionally while trying to find Morgan, but we also get to delve into their personal lives together.

I received this as an ARC. As always, I recommend reading the trigger warnings prior to starting. After reading this book I can say this was a good read and worked as a palate cleanser from my fantasy binge. I do recommend giving this book a read.

This book follows two characters from the first book. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first book prior to starting this one. This is a brother's best friend romance which is always a fun read for me. It's easy to get caught up in what's happening that you end up reading the book in one sitting. I may have done exactly that...

Yes! Read this! I'm not sure if I loved it more than the first book with Cayson and Frankie... but this one with Sarah and Carson was still very hard to put down for me!
This whole series gives me slight mafia like vibes without the mafia. An island... friends and found family to protect. Like Robin Hood, but taking bad guys instead of riches. Protecting those who can't protect themselves. Justice. This island is one big "village".
The thought I had that stood out with Sarah and Carsons' story was that it wasn't the perfect love story. there were issues to work out, and I loved that. I loved it because it felt more real.
I can't wait to see what happens next.

Dark and twisty! Brothers best friend love sequence all while trying to solve a missing persons case was right up my alley. While I do wish I had read the first book before this for a little background connection, it was absolutely not necessary. The FMC Sarah's childhood friend has gone missing and Carson helps her in all the ways she needs. The mystery aspect definitely had me hooked and wanting to read more every second I had the chance to. I greatly enjoyed Shai's writing, especially as a first read from her!

Shai says the books in this series can be read as standalones, but I highly recommend reading the first book before this! I think a lot of important backstories happen and you learn a lot about all the characters in the first book.
This book had a lot going on. Friends to lovers, thrilling mystery, and a touch of spice. Great balance between the suspense and the romance, with a little bit of spice.
Interested to see who the MCs will be for book 3!

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review!

I actually liked this way more than the first book! I loved Carson and Sarah's relationship, you can tell he really cared for her. I devoured this right from the beginning. Her friend Morgan gets taken and it's just action pretty early on to about 70-80% percent through it. I was on the edge of my seat and wanting more. The backstories for Carson and Sarah were pretty good too. I really loved this series! I can't wait for more from Shai Lenore.

-Betrayal

This was pretty good. Sarah and Carson are cute. We get to see them go through a rough journey between themselves and helping when Sarah’s friend gets kidnapped. At some points you don’t know if they’ll make it as a couple. The twists and turns of both their relationship and everything else makes your head almost spin. It’s a journey and a half that’s for sure.

This book was absolutely brilliant! It really shows how Shai has grown, and the tension starts right from the first page. The spice scenes are 🌶️, the gruesome scenes are 🔪 and the action just keeps on going. I binged the second half of this book in under a day (would have done it all in one but life and toddler said no!)

Highly recommend The Coledare Island series to anyone who hasn’t read it yet ❤️

I LOVE THIS SERIES! I haven't been this excited about a series in a long time. The characters, the attention to detail, the normalcy of these people. I can not say enough about this book, yet I have no proper words to describe it. All I can say is it is a MUST READ!!!!!!

This is a good book overall!

It has a nice plot. While it is a little jumpy, and there are few (only a couple) grammatical errors, I enjoyed it!

The Fate Sequence is book 2 in the Coledare Island Series. In my opinion you need to read A Twist of Fate for background information for this book. Could be a standalone, but there are a lot of references to the first book.

This book hooked me from the start. The story is interesting and kept me interested throughout entire book. The only part of this book that did not hit for me was the romance. Sarah & Carson are best friends little sister and brothers best friend who fell in love along the way. The romance seemed a bit added into the background of the tasks at hand of finding Sarah’s missing friend for one of their clients. To me the romance didn’t even needed to be added to make this a good book and that’s on good writing.

Going back to Coledare Island was even better than I imagined.

It was so fun to get to read about this found family again, as well as learn more details about some of them. It made me feel like I was part of their family.

Facing more mystery and adventure, the
The journey that they all go through, and the further developments the characters go through just makes me so proud of all of them.

The twists and bumps that Sarah and Caraon face with pursuing their relationship, just make it so much more satisfying at the end.
