Quotes that i like from this book:
“5 years from now, you will arrive somewhere. The question is: where?” Here are the probabilities. In 5 years, you will arrive at a well-designed destination or on undesigned destination. 5 years from now, you will be someone. If you don’t design your own life plan, you will most likely fall into someone else’s plan”. Jim Rohn,
self-narrative is the narrative we tell ourselves about who we are and our lives as a whole.
understanding self-narrative is close to the concept of “personal myth”, a kind of “life story” as a central dimension in identity (Sveningsson & Alvesson, 2003).
self-narratve is a central deminesion of identity, the core of self-identity.
British Sociologists, Anthony Giddens (1991), conceptualises self-identity as a reflexive process or ongoing project in which individuals form a sense of themselves (Gill, 2015).
self identity: 1. competing discourses, 2. various experiences (Alvesson & Willmott, 2002).
identity can be undersood as the result of the interaction between discourse & human action. Discourse : verbal ideas or discourse, discussion, expression of thoughts, or experiences based on language & real context. Discourse= can be messages from others / we see/ read around us.
self-narrative: obtained from experience
consciously or unconsciously, we create stories about our character, self-esteem, family, and about our dreams & aspirations. Creating these stories helps us understand & give meaning to the world that is going on about why various things in our lives happen the way they do. We constantly repeat various narratives or stories to ourselves.
3 reasons: 1. shapes mindset, 2. foster habits, 3. influences decisions.
shaping mindset (constitutes mindset): the way we see ourselves, the internal narrative we hold, strongly influences our choices, decisions, & ultimately our long-term success. Identity is a set of beliefs, values, & thoughts that define our nature. When we tell ourselves, “I’m a perfectionist”, we are talking about our own identity. And this identity consciously & unconsciously shapes our mindset.
inspires actions, “you are what you do”, perhaps more accurate to say, “you do what you are”.
A person = a creature that is structured by a mixture of nature (genes, DNA), nurture (environment, growing, how they are trained/ raised by the family environment, society, the world, nutritional intake, education social environment, culture,>> these determine social status/ social class/ wealth/ success & happiness), maturity (experiences self-recognition, realized that they must be responsible for their own life, & future.
Success= state & conditiong of fulfilling/ successfully achieving -certain ideas, goals, desires, or hopes.
Success= the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. The achievement of an action within a certain period of time or certain parameters.
In a personal context, success can mean different things to different people. Even for an individual, the meaning of success can change over time / in different contexts & perspectives. Success divides in 2, quantitatively : achieving or exceeding certain targets; qualitative: happy, healthy, peaceful, prosperous.
Aisha Tyler: Success is not the absence of failure, it is the persistence through failure.
Winston Churchill: success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
Jim Rohn: success is not to be pursued. It is to be attracted by the person you become.
Success is not about achieving a particular goal or a certain level of fame/ wealth. Success is about being yourself in the process we go through. Success means living a life that is authentic, fulfilling, and in accordance with our identity.
Zig Ziglar: a framework of survival (basic level, immediate needs), stability (secure jobs, a steady income, can meet their basic needs), success (climb the career ladder, trying to get a higher position, bigger salary), & significance (seeks meaning & satisfaction & works to get the most out of themselves)
Jim Rohn: life is about growth. If we don’t grow, we will stay still. And if we remain still, we will be left behind. So, we must strive to be a better version of ourselves every day. It’s not about perfections; it’s about progress, it’s about constantly improving ourselves.
When we were little, we dreamed of being anything we wanted to be and believed we had the potential and power to become what we wanted to be. But somehow, this magic wears off after a while. Sometimes, people get caught up in mundane tasks and fail to pursue their true passions.
The keyword for this relativity of success is self-potential. Everyone has their own potential according to their starting point and life trajectory. Everyone has a different nature and nurture, and our job is to ensure that potential is fulfilled. For now, if you are an employee, the wisest advice is: Be the best in your cubicle!

Because success is multidimensional, we must ensure that everything runs in balance and harmony. Failure in one area can cancel out success in other areas that may have been achieved with great difficulty. This has triggered the emergence of a work-life balance narrative among modern workers today.
"Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job, you can make a living, but if you work hard on yourself, you'll make a fortune."Jim Rohn.
At least three things need to be considered in spinning and interpreting past self-stories: (i) growing and developing self. awareness, (ii) reinterpreting discourse and reframing experiences, and (ili) revising self-presentation. All of these allow us to modify self-narratives to achieve the definition of a successful person.
First, the interpretation of past stories requires the development of a view within oneself to raise self-awareness. The most essential thing here is to take full responsibility and ownership of our own lives. When we are at the mature level, we must be responsible for our lives now and in the future. An adult cannot blame others or become a victim of other people's actions. No one should complain about what has happened in the nature and nurture period (which all happened in the past). To lead to success, an adult must be able to become the master of his own destiny.
Building self-awareness means knowing one's potential and competence, namely mapping strengths and weaknesses.
Focusing on strengths and patching weaknesses require us to become learning individuals and hone ourselves to continue growing.
Positive thinking does not mean denying reality or pretending that everything is perfect. It is about choosing to focus on the good, even in the face of bad situations. When we start to adopta positive mindset, we will see opportunities where others see obstacles. We will begin to face challenges with joy and hope, noi fear. We become more resilient when faced with setbacks and more likely to persist when things get tough.
BRUCE LEE once said:
"Don't talk negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference. Words are energy and can cast spells; that's why they're called spells. Change the way you talk about yourself, and you can change your life."
Problem-solving is the goal for people at the survival level and some members of the stability group.
Strategic planning focuses on long-term goals and objectives and is broader and more proactive. In business companies, strategic plans are usually developed at the top of the organisation and consider external factors such as the economy and the market.
Strategic plans help prepare for problems, improve decision-making, and manage expectations.
Meanwhile, tactical planning focuses on short-term actions and daily operations and is more specific and reactive. In business, tactical plans are derived from strategic plans and are often delegated to managers or departments. Tactical plans help break down strategies into steps, identify resource gaps, and respond to changes at the operational level.

a short life (life is so short!), time and energy are very limited. The world is very dynamic and turbulent, especially recently triggered by the development of science and technology.
On the other hand, we are busy - very busy actually - but tend to be carried away. Because our energy is limited every day, where energy is used will define our lives in the long term.
Indeed, some elements of life are within our control, and many life matters can be managed with various approaches. However, in a short and limited life, it is a shame if we have to do trial and error in finding a suitable method of organizing life and managing resources that are also very limited. The project perspective provides good news by offering a mature and tested method so that it is convincing enough to be applied in real life.
"You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of."Jim Rohn
personal life project management can still follow the general pattern of the project management cycle, which has the following sequence:
1 Initiating (project initiation or emergence stage)
2 Planning (preparation stage)
3 Executing (implementation stage)
4 Monitoring & controlling, and
5 Closing (or termination stage).
However, to make it easier and more applicable, personal projects do not have to follow the sequence and stages rigidly.

Goals are magnets.
Jim Rohn advised on the benefits of setting goals with the analogy of strong dreams. The bigger and more unique the dream, the more powerful it attracts.
Strong and powerful dreams, like magnets, pull us through them.
Strong dreams and goals can even pull us through disaster. Many people are swallowed up by disaster because they have nothing on the other side of the disaster to pull them through.
Managing expectations.
On the one hand, setting goals also helps define expectations, which in turn will determine our definition of success.
