To be honest, I only decided to read the book because I'd heard there were some steamy sex scenes that were excluded from the drama series, Love Me If You Dare. So yeah, I decided to see for myself. I did not expect to read the whole story from beginning to end especially since I already knew the whole plot. That's how great the book was.

I personally think I was able to enjoy it more because I'd had some imagery from the drama to go with some scenes in the book so it was an enjoyable experience re-enacting those scenes in my head with the actors from the drama + filling in the other scenes with my imagination.

Okay, on to my favorite character:

Bo Jinyan

He is a blunt and straightforward character. He doesn't understand basic human etiquette so it's fun to witness how robotic he can be in certain situations that require more emotion and finesse. This type of personality results in some of the most interesting and hilarious dialogues. Some Examples:

Scene: BJY and Jian Yao are about to have sex for the first time and JY expresses her discomfort at having the lights on during their steamy session. So, in order to appease BJY, she suggests that next time they can have the lights on. And then Jinyan responds in fashion:

"I can wear my night vision glasses then we'll both have what we want"

Another scene where he calls up his best friend, Fu Ziyu and straight up says to him, "I'm planning to have sex with JY tonight... Do you have any tips for me?"

He can also be very arrogant and extremely confident with regards to his work as a criminal psychologist. But we'll allow him to be arrogant since he's saving lives.

And then even with his lack of experience in sex, there are sometimes where you think, "Was he trained by the Kamasutra in the arts of sex and seduction or something?." He can be so dense at times with regards to feelings between a man and woman. But then, when he loves you it's like a switch in his brain has been unlocked. The part of the brain that deals with sex and seduction xD.

There's a scene where he gets JY to wash his body cos and while she's trying to do her best to avoid touching him or seeing his intimates he ups and says to her:
"Even if you pretend to see it, you cannot deny the fact. I am aroused...because of you"

*Insert 🔥 🔥 🔥 gif*

There's so much I want to say about him because he is an onion with so many layers and I'd just like to sit here and flesh him all out for you guys but you have to experience it for yourselves!

Then there's my girl,

Jian Yao

It takes a certain kind of woman to deal with BJY's eccentric-ness? eccentricity? Whichever. JY was that woman; only she could deal with him. I loved how she started to learn more about his personality, the more they spent time together and I loved their back and forth especially when they were still in the 'getting to know you' phase of their relationship.

She's also a very strong character. I remember being very surprised at how easily she was able to adapt to the harsh realities of being the assistant to the most sought after criminal psychologists. Especially considering the types of scenes they'd have to face. I mean, she was an English major. It's a totally different field for her. But even when there were experienced police officers puking at the gruesome scenes, she'd put on her big pants and walk straight into the crime scene along with BJY because she didn't want to disappoint him. And she didn't. She was a fast learner and it really impressed me.

Another thing I really liked about her was she is very selfless. She cares and worries so much about the people around her. A huge highlight was when . What a girl!

I never really liked her character that much in the drama, she was just plain to me. But that's why I love books. There's so much more detail. We have a direct point of view from the characters and we can see their inner thoughts so we're able to understand more than what's said or done on the surface. That's why if you watched the drama, I'd recommend reading the book to for more depth...and sex of course

Unfortunately, having detail in a book that's about psychopaths and how they like to harm their victims can be a bit too much to ask for. I prefer the drama in this regard because it doesn't really present it in as much of a gruesome manner as is done in the book. I've gone 97% through this review without talking about the criminal aspect and that's because it's really upsetting and I'd prefer not to relive it here. All I want to say is I love JY for how she handled that situation. I mean, she was even able to leave clues. Fuck me. What a badass.

The criminal cases, the friendship between Ziyu and BJY, the romance between our main leads. It's all there. This is the longest review I've ever written. There's so much more I want to say but I don't want to spoil anything. You have to experience it yourselves. I had a great time reading this and I hope you do too.

This is the second time I’ve started this book. The first time, I put it back down, because the beginning was kinda slow, and I didn’t want to waste my time on a potentially bad book. After reading 如果蜗牛有爱情 - 上 (which I loved), I decided to give this book another go. As with before, I promised myself I’d do the same thing. This time, I never got a chance to.
“我只抓最穷凶极恶的犯人,只有我能抓到。”

As with 丁墨’s other work, this book focuses on serial killers. Also in line with her other works is the fact that it is more romance with a dash of mystery than mystery with a dash of romance. There is never any confusion about which of the story lines take precedence.

To be honest, though, what truly differentiates 他来了,请闭眼 from 如果蜗牛有爱情 is the characters. The plot, whilst still different, is different because the characters have such different reactions to everything. And, to me, that’s a sign of the author’s prowess: that she can take a similar setting and craft such different stories through merit of crafting individual, three-dimensional characters.

This book is basically The Rosie Project if The Rosie Project focused on serial killers rather than genetics. Both feature a slightly emotionally…less intelligent love interest. Both feature some kind of mystery. It’s just, in this book, the love interest is rather more…direct in certain matters than Don is in The Rosie Project.

And one more thing I love about this book? The fact that the main character doesn’t try to change the love interest in any way. One of my biggest pet peeves with The Rosie Project is that Don has to change to get the girl, or believes he has to – because what kind of message is the book trying to send with that? That doesn’t happen at all with this book. Aside from occasional hints (i.e. tugging his sleeve to stop him from saying something insulting), she accepts him as he is, emotionally simple and all.

I would definitely recommend this book. The pace really starts to pick up after the beginning, and there are a lot of moments when the love interest social ineptitude just forces a laugh out of you, and, towards the end, I think the author manages to weave a very fine balance between the mystery and the romantic side of things.

oh this is one of the best that I've ever read..

I fall deeply in love with Mr.Bo just like that even though in reality I don't really like an arrogant man..
but he is attractive, and of course his brain is sexy.
The murder cases are interesting, enough to draw my curiosity to the max.

All the characters are great and my admiration goes to Fu Zhiyu. His character can make me laughing out loud and he is such a good friend that everyone need.
And than there's Anam (even though we can't find him at the drama version because they fused his character with Fu zhiyu) another genius in his own world.

Oh I really want you guys to read this book.. there's a fan translation that you can find in web. Someone (thanks God) post it in his/her blog for us to enjoy.

The story is about a genius who has low EQ and his assistant. Apart from seeing how their love developed, we get to enjoy a few of the complicated cases. Something like a modern Sherlock Holmes.

What I like about this book was the cases. Complicated but when it's explained, it seems so simple.

Overall a goodread

Again, Ding Mo is beginning to be somehow a "insurance" of quality. This book is not only interesting and funny, but also scary and well written at the same time. Just like with "When the snail falls in love", I could read it because of the great translators :D thank you, it was a blast.
