Toni Diamond never believed she’d see her no-good ex-husband Dwayne Diamond again, not after he abandoned her and their baby sixteen years ago. But now she’s a successful independent beauty consultant for Lady Bianca cosmetics, Dwayne suddenly wants back in her life -- or at least in her bank account. He convinces their daughter, Tiffany, to go to Vegas and visit the father she’s never known. When Toni follows her runaway daughter, little does she know she’s about to run smack into a murder. Dwayne Diamond is the chief suspect and it’s up to Toni to prove Tiffany’s dad didn’t commit murder, by finding out who did.
This is the second instalment in the best selling Toni Diamond series, which began with Frosted Shadow, though the books can be read in any order. Sexy detective Luke Marciano is back, and of course Toni couldn't go to Vegas without her mother, the Dolly Parton-obsessed Linda Plotnik along for the ride. While Toni noses around Vegas she and her mother find plenty of scope for their talents as saleswoman and makeup artists in this humorous Las Vegas set mystery.

A quick, easy read. A very good mystery that featured a strong, sassy heroine and her lively mother It could have used a bit more editing, perhaps, but was very readable. Borderline cozy. A solid 3.5 to 4*.
When Toni is featured in a press article about highly successful business women Tiffany's father, Dwayne Diamond, appears out of the woodwork wanting money. Dwayne ran out on her when Tiffany was a newborn and he's never paid a cent of child support or shown any interest in his daughter.. until now.
Tiffany is swayed by Dwayne's version of events; he didn't leave them but Toni threw him out, and Toni has prevented him from seeing or contacting her. So when he invites Tiffany to visit him in Vegas she takes a sleepover with a friend and heads off on a bus minus her phone so Toni can't track her.
But Toni is no fool, she knows that Dwayne is using Tiffany in an attempt to get money from her, wiser than he realises she decides to let Tiffany see her father's true colours for herself although she's on her way to Vegas ready for the fallout.
The fallout is bigger than she could predict however with Dwayne first being beaten up by his bosses goons in front of Tiffany and the very next day being arrested for murdering his boss after a late night meeting.
Much against her will she finds herself bailing Dwayne out, with Tiffany's feelings and her house on the line she decides that her only hope to protect Tiffany from realising that Dwayne is a no good bum is to solve the case herself. With Luke providing a link to the LVPD she's determined to track down the killer and get Dwayne out of her life for good.
Meh, I had a problem with the mlm stuff in the first book and I was more annoyed by it in this book, I supposed the first book at least showed the negative that it was easier to gloss over but this one is heavy on the finding success in an mlm and it made me a bit uncomfortable. There was some fat shaming at the beginning (a character ‘melting’ over her seat and having BO) and implying that people looked like they were spending their Social Security checks gambling. Not too sure how I feel about who the killer was to be honest.
This was a pretty easy and quick read though, and I liked the fact that the romance took a backseat in this book. I will probably finish the series as there is only 2 books left.
I had to stop, I couldn't finish. The first book in the series was a fun read, and I liked Toni's adventures. However, this book was so irritating. She was dumped by her husband while she was pregnant, and told her daughter about this. He wants money and calls Tiffany to "start a relationship with her" - and the girl is dumb enough to go. Toni decides to not let her daughter see what a sleeze her father is, even though he has been nothing but an ass, and even mortgages her house to bail him out of jail because "he's her father." Barf.
Toni is so much fun. While not a person I would have as a friend in real life, I do enjoy reading about her. In this story, we get to meet her ex-husband who is a real piece of work. Toni acts as a sleuth to keep him out of prison. She does an excellent job of it, too. The whole book was very entertaining and I look forward to reading the next one.
Book two starts with a bang and doesn’t let up, there are times you are going to want to slap Toni outside her head but the story is good. Did I mention I love Linda? She is a Mom Boss.
In this one Tony is forced to be around her ex and as can be expected it just leads to more trouble for her but a great who done it to read.
Toni never expected to hear from her ex husband or to be in Vegas to help him but the live a mother has for her daughter will make you do things you wouldn’t normally do.
This was so good. The first one was good too. It was a bit different from what I am used to, but my oh my, the way this book was written was fantastic! I am ready for the next one.
Decent follow-up to the first mystery with Toni. Recommended for light reading. Interesting insight to Vegas show folks and always enjoy the makeup tips.
Ultimate Concealer by Nancy Warren A Toni Diamond Mystery Book 2 Toni Diamond loves her makeup and selling the Lady Bianca line along with encouraging those she’s brought into the business. Her sales ability pulled her from poverty to being able to raise her daughter alone. Since her ex took off shortly after becoming a father. Never to be heard of physically or financially again. Until now. Sixteen years later. Now Toni finds herself along with her mother and daughter in Vegas, helping the one man who never lifted a finger to help her.
Toni’s story begins in Frosted Shadow, the first book in this series. She’s a highly fashionable lady whose one flaw seems to be her nose. It keeps going where it doesn’t belong and trouble isn’t far behind. Only this time, has her sideline investigations caused a more serious complication?
A touch of romance. A large dose of mystery. An even larger dose of fashion sense. And at least one character that you just want to hit on the head in hopes it would knock some sense into him. I’ve enjoyed both of these books and look forward to more. **Sensual content http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...

Book two of the Toni Diamond series is yet another adventure. In this book, Toni's ex husband comes around for none other than money and of course takes this time to "get to know his daughter". So, Toni's daughter Tiffany has never met her father and like all children they do wonder about their father from time to time and so when she gets a call from her father she is all for taking a trip to Las Vegas without her moms knowing. Of course like all good mothers she Toni finds out and books a trip out there to allow her daughter space but also protect her. Good thing Toni showed up because of course yet again there is another murder investigation and it just happens to involve the people in Toni's life. Regardless of her feelings for her ex husband she of course chooses to help out for the sake of her daughter, plus who can keep there nose out of doing a little detective work of their own. We all know that sometimes we do better than the police. In the end all these work out but definitely didn't see coming who the murderer is. And in this unplanned trip Tiffany gets to know her father.
Book 2 and Toni Diamond, Lady Bianca Cosmetics sales director has the # 1 Team in Texas! You gotta love the home based cosmetic business!
Toni's success lead her deadbeat ex husband, Dwayne, to secretly contact their 16 yr old daughter Tiffany when Toni refuses to fund his latest Vegas scheme.
Linda, Toni's Mom and Lady Bianca sales associate, joins Toni in flying to Vegas to search for runaway Tiffany - with lots of cosmetic samples and demo make up.
I love the opening "you can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality. Ayn Rand." That sums up the situations that Dwayne puts Tony and Tiffany into when his latest idea has Toni risking her home and life so Tiffany's father can be proven innocent of a murder.
If you know much about the Pink Cosmetic Firm this will hit home with their reps.
Wow what an amazing book! Second book in the Toni Diamond mystery series. Toni Diamond,s Lady Bianca team is #1 in sales. Her ex-husband who she hasn't seen or heard from in 16 years reads a magazine article about how successful Toni has become. Dwayne Diamond tries to hit Toni up for a loan and when that doesn't work he lures their daughter Tiffany to Vegas knowing Toni will follow. Dwayne ends up getting arrested for his boss's murder. Of course Toni can't let him go down for murder. He is a slime ball but not a murderer. So Toni gets involved in trying to find out who did murder his boss. Hard book to put down because I had to see how it would end. What a surprise ending! Would never have figured that one out. I hope there will be more books to this funny mystery series.
Fun mystery with a family of women (mother, grandmother, teenaged daughter) who sell cosmetics for a living. Long lost dad shows up wanting to get to know his daughter but proves to be the lout he always was… and suddenly finds himself the prime suspect in a murder. Can mom figure out who really offed the guy? Clever, funny, with a good puzzler and some danger, this is an engaging read. For those who get hooked on these characters, fear not: there are more Toni Diamond mysteries. For those who just love the witty writing: this author has produced fifty-plus novels.
Loved it! Toni's ex husband comes back in the picture when he sees a magazine article that says she's been successful in selling her makeup and he wants a loan. Of course she says no but Dwayne Diamond goes behind her back and communicates with their daughter who he's never met but invites her to come to Vegas to meet her. This is a ploy so that Toni would pay. But what happens when she goes out there to oversee how her ex treats Tiffany is a phone from Tiff that Dwayne has been arrested for murder. While she thinks he should be in prison for other things murder is not one of them. So because of her daughter she looks into it. It was a great read figuring out who did it.
Toni Diamond knows nothing good can happen when her ex-husband Dwayne calls after 15 years of silence and wants to speak with their daughter, Tiffany. Before she knows it, Tiffany has hopped on a bus to Las Vegas to meet her father.
Toni and her mother Linda follow Tiffany to Las Vegas. They find that Dwayne has stolen money from his boss, Grant Forstman, and Forstman wants it back. Then Forstman winds up dead ... and because Dwayne is on a security tape as the last person to leave Forstman's office before his body was found, Dwayne is arrested as the most likely suspect in the murder.
But Las Vegas is a city of illusions, and appearances are rarely what they seem ...
Much like the previous book in the series, it ended a little too abruptly for my taste, but I still enjoyed the story. Ms Warren infused the heroine with a snarky sense of humor through all the books, yet never crossed the line to tastelessness - actually quite tame, and her mother & daughter are a real hoot in their own ways.
I got this book in the first read giveaway. I really liked this book. I thought the character was fun and sassy. Love the supporting characters also especially her daughter and her mother. A very easy good read.
Love this book. the story was very entertaining sweet and funny at the same time. as a mom with a teenage daughter I could just image the eye rolls. looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I loved this 2nd book as much or maybe more than the last one. A trip Vegas ,an ex husband, casino's and family. A trip to remember plus a scar from gunshot to remember Vegas! It's a hoot. So what are you wAiting for?
I thought this book was so much fun to read- traveling to Vegas and getting tangled up with unsavory characters - and Nancy Warren had me guessing as to who-done-it Really enjoyed this book.
