Peach-Pit (ピーチ・ピット Pīchi Pitto) is a female manga artist duo in Japan, made up of Banri Sendo (千道 万里 Sendō Banri) and Shibuko Ebara (えばら 渋子 Ebara Shibuko). Their group name derives from the diner hangout Peach-Pit from the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210. Although both have similar styles, with some artwork it is possible to identify which artist drew it. Both are known for their bishōjo styled works. As noted in their books, they are both Geminis and have "Almost flushed our phones down the toilet...twice."
The two of them grew up together and went to the same elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Both started as doujinshi manga artists, but not as Peach-Pit. Then they were scouted by Dengeki Comic Gao!. In 2008, one of their manga, Shugo Chara!, was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga. Shugo Chara was also turned later into an Anime television series.
And so the first series ends (I had forgotten it was that confusing) and the new series begins with a Jun that didn't pick to wind the doll. It was a lot of fun! And I am curious to see how this current new Jun will help the old Jun and the dolls.
Well, we start off in a bit of sad sack territory. Which kind of makes sense. Some kind of sad stuff happens. Then some ridiculous adorable stuff happens. Then stuff starts to get going into a good direction
So you start preparing for the anvil of bad emotions to drop. A few more nice things start to happen. Then some weird stuff starts happening--and you are super jumpy because you've noticed the pattern of "things go good--then something upsetting happens"
But it goes in a completely different. Where a bunch of fscked up stuff starts happening--but like fscked up metaphysical and esoterica fscked up stuff. I mean, you were crying at the beginning of this volume--and you were expecting to be crying some more. As that is part of the selling point of this series: you will cry, and it will be great. All it is missing is singing for it to get into the much loved genre of "singing and crying" (instead it is ridiculously cute parts and crying)
Like, multiverse theory ends up appearing as just part of the messed up stuff that involves a doll who isn't a doll, as they have all the essence of doll-like stuff, without the being a doll part. Think like if those metaphysical discussions asking if a chair had inherently chair-like properties, but like there was the much sought out inherent chair-like properties but there was no chair anywhere
I mean, there are other series that go much further on those weird esoteric philosophy discussions--but most of them came out AFTER Rozen Maiden. So Rozen Maiden kind of ends up seeming not as advanced mostly because fiction written after it took some of this stuff and went deeper into those elements
That being said, the choice to seek help against the seventh doll via means of having Shinku wiped from existence so she can create a temporary body in the "unwound Jun" universe was unexpected
I'm not even going to tag that as a "spoiler" because those words are such a word soup, that they only make sense to describe something once you've already know what is being explained. Making it kind of a useless explanation--and thus not really a spoiler. As a spoiler should be able to communicate to people something
I REALLY REALLY like it when a series cannot be spoiled, because attempting to explain later events makes no sense until you get there, that you can explain what happens--and still not have anybody know what is going to happen
