A great collection of fantasy Christmas short stories. Each story was very unique and well written.
1. Maria And The Mouse King by Dragoness Wyverna An interesting short retelling of the Nutcracker.Dragoness put a lot of thought into the character of Marie and her vision of that world was fantastic.
2. A Dragon By Starlight by Adam Gaffen Adam tells a fantastic story of a young woman named Corsen who knows nothing of her family history of being dragon shifters. Adam does a fantastical job with his description o Corsen's first transformation into a dragon. Great story!
3. Blitzed by Ilona Krueger Ilona's short story on a Scrooge type story is nothing short of fantastic. I love her descriptive world building and the incredible growth of her main character Tilly!
4. Tarot Of Love by Cassie Swindon A great short romantasy from Cassie Swindon. Using the tarot cards was a very creative way for Dane and Chloe to finally admit their feelings for each other. Nice world building using the atmosphere of the castle for the tarot reading!
5. The Perfect Christmas by J.T. Moriarty A nice short Christmas story about a robot that just wanted to make sure children were having good Christmases and becomes a Christmas gift himself. T. J. Moriarty is magical in his world building and storytelling skills.
6. Naughty And Nice by A. A. Warne A fantastic Christmas story about sacrificing true friendship. And there's a dragon! A. A. Warne never fails to write good characters and great worlds.
7. Nova Stellarum by M. J. J. Mori M. J. J. Mori writes a short lightly dark Christmas tale with intriguing characters and descriptive world building skills.
8. Starlight Eternal by Madilynn Dale A well written, but grim Christmas story. The characters were okay and I thought the world building was lacking.
9. The Matter Of Wordol And Burbogh by Joshua A. Brown A quirky little Holiday tale with strong characters and interestingly creative world building.
10. Playing With Starlight by Michelle Crow A great short story about a girl with a magical ability that is constantly in use. It helps her charm her way through everything. The characters are solid and the storyline was uplifting!
All-in-all Starlight is a wonderful anthology full of Christmas short stories. I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too!
A good variety of short stories. Each with a twist in the tale. A worthy read and well recommended. I received an ARC copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Like many short story collections, there were stories I enjoyed and ones I wasn’t as big a fan of. The main issue I had with this collection was the short stories were incredibly short to the point that some of them didn’t feel like a complete tale. I turned the page expecting there to be more, but the story was just…done. I do think there were some great ideas mixed in and would like to see them expanded into a longer, more developed story.
