Fleeing the Scene
The entire moviegoing world loves Connor’s husband, but she’s terrified of him.
She knows the real Roman. She’s seen the monster behind the A-lister smile. But just as she’s preparing to end their marriage, Roman bursts through the door, grabs his gun, and says they have to leave the country. He declares that he’s killed a man and they’re running away together. This isn’t a movie, this is real life.
Connor was terrified of this man before she found out he was capable of murder. Now, she’s forced to continue acting like his doting wife while they run from the law. They have a brief headstart before the body is discovered, but their plan to fly to Mexico gets derailed by a mob of autograph-seekers at the airport. Roman grows increasingly paranoid at every turn. How long until the body is discovered? How long until his face is on every nearby screen above the word “Murder?” Is that what his wife sees when she looks at him now? Can he really trust her, or will she run away at the first opportunity?
She suggests they drive north and hide out in her dad’s cottage on a remote island. But can Connor keep her unhinged husband from snapping as they interact with fans and police on the way to the lake? Will she live through the night when they’re alone on an island where nobody can hear her scream?

This book moves like a movie. I’d love to see it on the big screen. Unexpected turns made this a fun read from start to finish.

I agree with the other review that this book would make a great movie! Safe to say R.J. is now an auto buy author for me. I’m ready for a third novel 👀
