Is that a serial killer downstairs? No—it’s the man who shattered her heart.
Between jobs, between apartments, and barely holding onto her dignity, Devin Haruki agrees to house-sit for a neighbor. Sure, it happens to be the family home of her first love—but what are the chances she’ll actually see him?
Cedar Eden never planned on coming back to his hometown. But after a messy breakup and a career shift, returning seemed like the best choice—until he finds Devin Haruki standing in his mother’s stairwell, wrapped in nothing but bubbles and a too-small towel. Suddenly, all his well-laid plans take a backseat to one unexpected he wants her to stay.
Throw in a spring storm, downed trees, a power outage, an interrupting corgi, and one truly obnoxious rooster, and Devin and Cedar just might discover that being trapped together isn’t a disaster—it’s a second chance at love.
Sometimes the unrequited love you felt was never unrequited at all.
After Devin is let go from her job and finding herself unhoused, she agrees to house sit for her neighbors back in the small west coastal town she grew up in. She takes her temporary housing arrangement and unemployment status as an opportunity to rekindle her passion for painting and beef up her art side hustle before her neighbors return and heading to Arizona for a fresh start. Staying in her neighbors’ cabin brings back both happy and painful memories of her childhood, her deceased father, and the boy next door who stole her heart and never returned it.
Cedar, the reformed playboy, decides he needs a change after calling it quits with his long-term girlfriend. He leaves his physical therapy job with every intention of moving back to his hometown to settle down and apply for a PT job close by. Returning home to his mom’s cabin seems like a great idea with his family gone on vacation. Only he doesn’t return to an empty home, but one where his towel-covered, hottie neighbor greets him with a “welcome home” he can’t seem to shake from his mind, and kicking himself for blowing his shot years prior.
What Cedar thought was a three-week summer fling during college break, Devin believed was the start of their happily ever after. Things fell apart when Devin’s dad passed unexpectedly and Cedar confused her grieving self-isolation as her no longer being interested, getting back together with his ex and breaking Devin’s heart more.
Hurt feelings aren’t the only obstacle these two face. A heavy rainstorm, downed trees, and blocked roads trap these old flames in the cabin together where their attraction and need for each other grows bigger than the storm outside. Cedar wants Devin, but he thinks she’s only interested in having fun since she’s told him her plans to leave in a few weeks. Devin has never stopped wanting Cedar, but she can’t go through Cedar’s rejection again if all he wants is this short time together.
Will Devin give in to temptation, enjoying her time with Cedar before he sees her off? Can Cedar man up and ask Devin to stay with him instead? And can these two be vulnerable and communicate with each other to find their HEA together.
This was such a lighthearted and steamy read. The mix of heat, humor, and angst really helped to balance this book, making this a fun page turner. And I 100% agree with the meaning behind the rooster’s name being Josh. LOL.
If you enjoy steamy, forced proximity, second chance, unrequited love, west coast small-town, interracial romances, this is for you. My rating is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Second Chance Spring is the third story in the Seasons of Us series. I have not yet read the earlier books (although Devin and Cedar have me intending to go back to the beginning), but I didn’t feel the least bit lost. Important details that I would want to know were found within either the dialogue or the narrative.
I love a good, well-written second chance romance. Sometimes we just get it wrong the first time around for whatever reason. It’s fun and satisfying to see a couple grow enough that there is a good chance that they could get love right…eventually.
This slow-burning, second-chance story hit all the right notes for me. I loved Devin’s friends group, we should all have friends who stand up for us like these did. I also enjoyed watching Cedar’s growth; he might have been slow, but he definitely won me over. When a story is emotionally satisfying enough to make it necessary for me to go back to the beginning to experience what I missed, well, that’s a clear sign of a compelling series. I enjoyed myself so much in this world, and if you love a well-written, emotional, second-chance to get love right story, then Second Chance Spring by Linnea March is perfect for you.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or the author's team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I recieved an advanced review copy of this book for free via booksirens and am voluntarily leaving my review.
She just gets on with things, no pretention, just competence (although not enough confidence in some things at times), e.g., after an emergency, she notified people, got on with first aid, and arranged for a tree surgeon to turn up while the "hero" is still dazed and blubbering.
Cedar (MMC) isn't vaguely likable - for me - until quite late on but, when they got to that point, it developed via a couple of very well-written scenes.
Overall, I enjoyed this book (and will go back to KU to find the earlier ones in the series).
(I was fortunate to receive an ARC however the above is, as ever, my own opinion.)
-A slow-burn second-chance romance with charm, conflict, and satisfying resolution. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts, Devin shines as a competent, kind heroine finally stepping into her worth. Cedar takes longer to warm up to, but their chemistry builds through emotional growth.
Old feelings resurface when they’re thrown together, leading to heartfelt healing. This story brings out strong emotions including glee and anger. A fun read.
Devin had a crush on Cedar in high school and now they end up house sitting for his mother a decade later. He flirted with her several times but always went back to someone else. Devin could not believe she was good enough for him. I enjoyed Devin, her creativity and the way she cared for her friends. She did lack a lot of confidence. Cedar was all for himself. There was a lot of passion in this story but I felt it lacked substance.
This is book 3 in March's Seasons series and a wonderful addition to the series that can easily be read as a standalone. Our main characters are Devin and Cedar. A well written and sweet second chance romance for these two. I loved their journey to a HEA and am looking forward to more from March and this series.

This was a really good book. I loved everything about it and I love Devin and Cedar's relationship and how she couldn't help but love him so much. Summer was right in saying that he didn't deserve Devin at first but I'm so happy that he was finally able to prove to her just how much he cares for and loves her. I definitely recommend this book if your looking for a sweet read.
I enjoyed the story between Cedar and Dev and the journey they had to go on to get over the heartbreak of the past. Being forced to spend some time together made them work out their issues even if it was over a longer period of time. Sometimes you don’t realise what you have in front of you the whole time.
Second chance romances are kind of a hit and miss for me: i like the idea of people finding one another again, but sometimes i dont really like one or more of the characters and i find myself apathetic to their cause. I wouldnt say i was totally apathetic towards their struggles, but i wasnt that invested in seeing them find love.
Devin & Cedar Devin was a strong & independent woman as I expect from this author but I did struggle with Cedar as he had not grown much since their first 'relationship'. I did like the progression but would have liked more from the apology phase from him.
I truly enjoyed this story. Devin was a wonderful character, strong and independent. This was a good second chance romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
He broke her heart at the worst time of her life. It’s been years but it still hurts. Thanks to a bad storm, they are stuck together in the same house and he is stirring up all of those old feelings. How can she trust him not to hurt her again?
That is Devin’s situation when Cedar makes a surprise visit to his mom’s home while Devin is house sitting. Cedar’s attraction to her comes roaring back but he’s only thinking about what he wants in the short term and not how Devin will be affected when their time together is over. I liked Devin and really felt for her but to me Cedar seemed kind of insensitive and self centered and I didn’t like him much. Thankfully, he did grow as a person and redeemed himself in my eyes but it took some time.
The book blurb does a great job of describing this absorbing, emotional story and it held my interest all the way through. I have enjoyed the first three books of the series and am looking forward to the next one.

Another hit for me from Linnea! I’ve really been loving this series! Devin and Cedar were meant to get their second chance, even though it took them some time! Their story had me laughing and swooning (and sometimes angry at Cedar) on every page.

I had an absolute blast with this story and loved that we got to see Wren and especially Summer from the previous stories. I loved that Summer was tough on Cedar in order to protect her friend. I want to be in this friend group! So excited for Autumns story!
Thank you to Linnea for the ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I totally loved the female lead in this story! Cedar felt a bit wishy-washy, and I get that his journey was about growth, but Devin really blew me away. I'm one of those people who actually likes the The last few chapters were super emotional.
