Cole Harmony Creek Deputy, son of former sheriff, military hero
After a life-changing stint in the military, Cole Carter is back home and ready to jump into his new law enforcement career. He’s already catching criminals his first night on the job when he finds a trespasser. He’s not at all surprised when he discovers it’s his childhood nemesis a.k.a. former town crook. Only, she’s not actually a criminal.
She’s his new boss.
Now he’s working under her, discovering an entirely new woman from the girl he knew. Every moment reveals a new truth, as the attraction he once thought gone is back and growing. She might be in charge, but he’s not giving up control.
He’s going to discover every secret… and why she affects him so much.
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of laughs and emotion. Fairly low spice level, good romance but not explicit sex. I liked the characters and the plot; there was romance, action and suspense and the story really held my attention well. The ending was a little cheesy, but similar to a Hallmark movie. My main disappointment in this book was too many typos and errors that were a bit annoying and distracted from the storyline.
Intense, Passionate, and Utterly Addictive! Billionaire Protector by Melanie Knight is the kind of romantic suspense that grabs you from the very first page and doesn’t let go. The chemistry between the characters is electric, but what really stands out is the emotional depth and the danger that constantly lurks beneath the surface. The billionaire hero is everything you want in a protector—strong, brooding, and fiercely loyal—but he’s also layered with vulnerability that makes you fall for him even harder. The heroine is equally compelling: smart, resilient, and unafraid to stand her ground even when the stakes are high. Together, they ignite a love story that’s equal parts tender and thrilling. Knight balances the heat and the suspense perfectly. Every twist keeps you guessing, and every romantic moment feels earned. By the time I reached the final chapter, I was completely invested and didn’t want it to end. If you love protective alpha heroes, high-stakes danger, and a love that burns brighter with every challenge, Billionaire Protector is an absolute must-read.

Sarah Sloan and Cole Carter liked each other in high school. He left to join the military and Sarah worked hard to wipe out her old past where she continually got in trouble. At an arson scene one night, Cole grabs her thinking she’s the arsonist. She is there reviewing the scene and thinks he’s the arsonist.
She finally showed him her badge but he has one too. He was hired by one of the town councilmen even though hiring deputies was her job. It didn’t help the next day when one of the deputies came to him to discuss a case instead of the sheriff.
Attraction still sizzles between them but will he adjust to her being his boss or will he try to undermine her?
The story was very well written. The characters were well developed and were all very likable. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters. The story kept me engaged and I wanted to keep on reading until the end. This book is for anyone who enjoys a pleasant and at times funny romantic novel.
This book was good but so different from the rest of the series that it took me time to read. It just really didn’t fit into the series for me. It was the last chapter or so that we learn he is part of the billionaire club. It was a good book and well written. This one can be read as a stand alone.
You believe what is suggested, yet is not the truth... She was not what he'd been lead to believe. She knew what and who he always was, her heart. They uncover the deception of a so called friend and becomes each others forever.
