A Must Have Companion for Any Serious Cavern or Cave Diver
I’ve gone through quite a few manuals, guides, and training books over the years, but Rob Neto’s Cavern and Cave Diver Workbook honestly stands out in a way I didn’t expect. This isn’t just another workbook you flip through and forget it feels like a real companion through the entire learning process. From the first pages, you can tell it’s written by someone who not only understands cave diving deeply but also knows how to teach it clearly.
What impressed me most is how complete and structured the material is. The workbook doesn’t rush you; it guides you. Whether you’re just starting cavern training or already working toward full cave certification, it meets you at your level. Every section is laid out with purpose outlines, photos, diagrams, cave maps, and especially the gas math sections, which are incredibly detailed. I’ve always struggled with gas calculations, but the way Neto breaks it down finally made things click for me.
You can feel the care that went into aligning everything with the NACD Standards & Procedures. It gives you confidence that you’re learning the right way, not just someone’s way. In fact, even after completing my training modules, I still find myself going back to certain pages to refresh my memory. It’s the kind of workbook you don’t outgrow, whether you’re a student or a seasoned diver who wants a solid reference.
At over 150 pages, it’s packed, but not overwhelming. The photos and illustrations help you visualize techniques and real scenarios, and the cave maps are a gem. There’s a sense of walking into those spaces mentally before ever stepping into the water.
If you’re serious about cavern or cave diving or if you simply want a reliable, thoughtful, and well-organized resource that respects the risks and skills involved this workbook is worth every bit of attention it gets. It’s practical, thorough, and strangely motivating. You finish each section feeling more grounded and more prepared.
I honestly wish more training materials were made with this level of clarity and passion. Rob Neto nailed it. This is one workbook I’ll be keeping close for a very long time.
