Philip is an author and coach specialising in personal development and helping people find more freedom in their lives and businesses.

He started as an entrepreneur at the age of 16 when he set up his first team with friends at school. Philip spent 22 years working in the videogame industry where he operated events, consulted and managed projects for global brands and governments, and built technology platforms.

After breaking his neck playing rugby at the start of 2020, not being able to afford surgery, and struggling to keep his business going during the COVID lockdowns, Philip began his own personal development journey in 2021.

Following a personal development exercise asking him what impact and contribution he'd made to the world he's gone on to write a book for parents about how to manage their children's screen time and online safety, launched a podcast, given up alcohol and completely reshaped his business.

Almost all of us have something that holds us back from achieving at least some of our dreams. Even those of us who achieve many of them, still have to deal with things like opportunity cost and choosing what to do with our limited time. This book is here to help you break through the various chains that hold you back from reaching your goals.

I’ll admit, this isn’t my typical kind of read. I do have an MBA, but I’m not a business person, per se. I got my degree with the intent of opening a bookstore someday. It’s an iffy proposition these days, but not impossible. Maybe I’ll do it someday, but my true dream is to be a writer. I do a lot of writing these days, but mostly book reviews. So, I could probably benefit from this book’s advice.

The author offers up a ton of beautiful little nuggets of wisdom, but a few rubbed me the wrong way, especially the concept that we all have the same 24 hours. Yes, it is an undeniable fact, but it is a little ableist. It also counteracts a previous concept he said that I agree with wholeheartedly – the danger of the word “should.” That’s something we’ve been working on in our house, and let me tell you: when you start realizing that “should” is a horrible word and replacing it with things like “I wish I had,” “I must,” and “I will,” it is powerful!

If you need some help to achieve a goal, I think this book could offer some tools to help you reach it. There are some great resources and tips to help you focus on overcoming the roadblocks holding you back. I enjoyed the personal touches the author included, especially the vulnerability of his personal stories. He has a powerful message, and his 12 steps remind me a little of some other famous 12 steps – but not so much so that I think he’s nabbed them or anything.

I’m grateful to the author and Love Books Tours for including me on this tour!

I saw this book and desperately wanted to give it a go because I am definitely a person who needs to find their own freedom in their current state and stage of life. In many facets I am struggling with this. I have a very demanding job, in both a mentally exhausting way and with just the sheer amount of time I am expected to work. I have also fallen into the mother habit of becoming just the mother and not a mother with my own sense of self and identity. All of my free time is spent running with the kids or taking care of them, etc, instead of selecting time for myself and my hobbies.
This book is a great way to stop and take stock of that, really looking at what you can do to set up your own freedom and take back control of your life, in the little ways you have possible and available to you. It is a very accessible book, in that it is very easy to read and digest, as well as that you can dip in and out of the book, when you are able, and easily pick back up without feeling lost. I liked the way the writing was presented and found it engaging and interesting. Overall, it was definitely a book worth read, giving me lots of ideas, and one I will likely return to to think over things again.

Now self help is definitely not my bag, but when Kelly at LBT asked for support for this book who was I to say no!

This book talks you through 12 steps, or rather ‘chains’, that may be holding you back from achieving your goals. Philip starts off by telling us a bit about his story and how he found himself writing the 2nd edition to this book.

Admittedly I haven’t read a great many self help books, but the thing that struck me about this book not only provides tips and tricks to break each chain but it also provides you with a free resource pack that includes work sheets and other supporting materials, as well as a number of activities to complete in order to, as Philip puts it, “gain clarity on the current state of things in your life”.

I have to say that this is a very interesting book that is well written and easy to understand with some great resources. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys self help books but wants something a little different.

I love hearing stories from other people on their journey and how they have evolved into the person they are now. Reading this book was fascinating as seeing the way in which Philip Wride has taken adversity and used it to thrive, I enjoyed the step by step guided aspect with resources that I could download and use within my own time frame. I find myself often living in the what ifs as a long time sufferer of anxiety and the processes in this book could help me alot in building the life I want to have rather than the panic of it all going wrong. I loved the references used throughout and lead me to discover the content that was being discussed. There was a lot of questions to reflect on and how we can use that to move forward or to question it in a helpful way rather than a stopping block. I'm excited to refer back to this book and see where my plans help me get to.

Finally Find Freedom is a really helpful and easy to follow book. The first thing I really enjoyed was the style of the writing. It’s rather conversational and while it is extremely helpful it doesn’t sound too preachy like some help books can. I enjoyed the breakdown of the steps through chapters and the inclusion of activities. The resource pack was a nice bonus too. It’s a really good guided journey to help readers discover their self and what they truly want or need to feel free. I would highly recommend it to most who struggle with setting boundaries for themselves when it comes to work and life balance etc.

As always thank you to Love Book Tours for the copy to review, my reviews are always honest and freely given.

Through practical exercises, challenges, strategies and insights, you learn to analyse and face obstacles in your life that are holding you back.

I enjoyed this book, some self-help books can be long and laborious but this is well written, inspiring, short and concise, easy to read and I found the advice manageable.

This is definitely a book to read if you are needing direction in life.

This was a very informative and interactive non-fiction which helps individuals identify their dreams and thing which can sometimes hold you back. Philip Wride has written this and then also provided additional resources which you can access and print off to be able to do further work (if wanted after completing the book. One thing I have notice is that the language he has used is layman's terms which means that it is not overly complicated and this makes the text more accessible for all. I read this book at the wrong time for me however I am going to revisit it in October before starting my University course which means that I will be able to use some of the tools which he has provided to readers.

Finally Find Freedom from Philip Wride is a self-help book with a difference it looks at how you
can break free from fear, the priorities of others rather than your own personal priorities. I found
this was a really good way of thinking how many times does fear stop us in our tracks without us
recognising why? How often do we continually put others first even when we need support
ourselves?
Each chapter comes with a challenge, or activity which is backed up with the free resource
download you get with the book (this is great I literally printed mine off and put on my office wall
so i could commit to them) so you can stop and think about what you have learnt, how you can
grow and how you can literally find freedom

Philip's personal journey, is motivating!

The book lays out intriguing and attainable steps, and chain 10 revolving around conquering fear, resonating most deeply with me. For me it’s central line that is holding me back rooted deeply in me. It was quite helpful to understand and think about it from other perspectives.

Take control of your life with the help of Philip Wride. In Activity #1 he asks you to create your TALE, which will help you to start to move forward. Philip shares the 12 chains of knowledge, speed, convenience, relationships, priorities, responsibilities, location, time, risk, fear, perception, and pressure. At the beginning Philip explains TALE-Time, Activities, Location, and Experience. . Each of the 12 chains provides you with explanations, as well as the whys and why nots, we all ask ourselves. Throughout the book Philip has added activities to help you to move forward. I did like how Philip spoke about his own personal struggles and how he moved forward.

Finally Find Freedom is a great self-help book for anyone wanting to do and achieve more in their lives.

I don’t often read non-fiction because a lot can seem very information-heavy, but this book balanced it so nicely by dividing the information into short sections on each of the ‘chains’ holding us back, and what we can do to break them.

The book was short but excellently written and it was nice to hear the author’s personal anecdotes on how he came to write this book and break his own chains.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone feeling like they want more purpose or meaning but feel like they’re stuck in a cycle.

This is a great little book that I will return to again and again.
The book focuses on the 12 chains we need to break in order to find freedom in our lives and reach our goals. It is full of inspiring advice alongside personal anecdotes to help the reader to work towards finding their own freedom.
I loved that the chapters were short and to the point.
There are some free worksheets to download which accompany the book. These were really helpful.
I also liked that the author explains that there is no quick fix and even if you break a chain once, you might have to return to break it again in the future.

An inspiring book for anyone interested in growth mindset and improving their life.

Finally Find Freedom is about breaking free from the things that may be holding us back in life.

I especially enjoyed the beginning of the book where the author explained his reasons for writing this self-help book.

The book is divided into different sections. The first section is about creating a vision, the second investigates the chains that keep us tethered and the last section focuses on the steps to break these chains.

Though I found some of the advice a bit simplified I do think there were many helpful strategies for imagining the life you want and working towards that. The activities and included worksheets were helpful.

Overall, if you feel stuck and especially if you are someone who enjoys self-help literature you will undoubtedly find value in this book.

Finally Find Freedom by Philip Wride is an insightful look into what holds us back in life, what stops us going for what we really want and ultimately what stops us finding happiness.

The book is made up of three main parts, identify what you want, acknowledge the ‘hidden chains’ as the author refers to the as and finally take action!

There are lots of really thought provoking exercises throughout the book and a QR code to a free resource back you can use.

All in all this is a well written and interesting read that you can just pick up whenever you have a spare minute.

I will start by saying this isn't my typical read but it was informative. This book advises on how to break through the chain holding us back from achieving what we want in life. With handy worksheets and steps to follow it could help unlock the potential that is locked away and allow yourself the freedom to follow your ideas.

This book will be a good one for people who follow the self-help guidebooks and use them to their full advantage. The author's narrative is informative and easy to follow whilst also being engaging.

By combining years of research and a simple but powerful framework, this book can help you to achieve your goals. Both relatable and easy-to-follow activities combine for a powerful one-two punch. Even with the best intentions, we often get stuck. Wride outlines twelve chains to help pinpoint common pitfalls that mire us down. The worksheets and trackers included in the book are invaluable especially the TALE grid to gain clarity. Recommend for insightful self-advice.
