Full of informative figures and surprising facts about the human body and written in a clear style with a warm, friendly approach. All material has been extensively reviewed by medical specialists. More than 300 photographs, paintings, charts, and diagrams.
A good medical reference book that not only describes the parts of the body, but also delves into the history of medicine and some of the myths. For example: "At one time people believed that the main reason for breathing was to cool the blood," and that "the word influenza is derived from the word influence--presumably an evil influence from the stars or some other source that brought pestilence," etc. I was initially attracted to the book because it is organized alphabetically, but there's lots of interesting stuff here.
As with many of the health and medical books I own, I have reads parts of them according to information I needed at that time. I am marking them as "Read" and they are all 5 stars!
