A good medical reference book that not only describes the parts of the body, but also delves into the history of medicine and some of the myths. For example: "At one time people believed that the main reason for breathing was to cool the blood," and that "the word influenza is derived from the word influence--presumably an evil influence from the stars or some other source that brought pestilence," etc. I was initially attracted to the book because it is organized alphabetically, but there's lots of interesting stuff here.

We had it around the house for as long as I could remember. I loved the color pictures. This was one of my "children's books."
