"Together, our souls as one, is how we're meant to be."

description

At the beginning they were one. And they were happy. But darkness was envious of them and Enyxa, a dark entity, swept down and tore their souls in the middle and she scattered them between worlds. Since then, these souls are always looking for their other half to complete them. But darkness is always lurking to prevent them from unite once again...

description

In the previous book, Leni and Jeric managed to thwart the minions of Enyxa and overcome prejudices and physical limitations and they reunited their souls. Now, safe inside the Gate, they realise that their struggles are far from over. They might not feel comfortable in their new powers but apparently they are the leaders that have to fight and save everyone else. With another Twin Flame, Guardian couple, Brock and Asia (seriously, what is wrong with them?? why are they so distant and cold?) they return to search for Rebethanna because her other half, Nathayden left an urgent message....

SAVE HER

description

And that is just a part of our story...

For the next part, Bex a twenty something waitress is desperately looking for The One. She is physically and mentally exhausted, troubled and in despair. Daughter of a drug addicted mother that is dying, handling 3 jobs to pay the bills and in a string of bad decisions she has to choose between 2 men. Ty, her first love that left her to join the army, but now he is back and determined to win her and Mason, the sexy doctor that she can't get out of her head. What she doesn't realise is that her soul is hanging from a thread and one wrong step will doom her forever in darkness.

description

Everything comes together and the fight continues right until the breathtaking finale that had me staring in disbelieve. I liked the book, even though the constant second-guessing and doubts annoyed me. This book also deals with a couple of tough issues, like addiction and violence and Kristie Cook handles them with care and respect, the victims of both deserve. Finally, as a sucker for romance I can't help but fall in love with the idea that we all have The One, Beyond or Between, waiting for us. And I think I have found mine...

The Space Beyond is the second book in ‘The Book of Phoenix’ series and gives us a much different story this time around. In book one, we had met Jeric & Leni as they find out that their souls are connected in a big way and they will always share that connection & always have. It’s through ‘the book of Phoenix’ that they are able to remember some of their past lives with each other and what they fight for. Now that things have settled with their transformation into Guardians, they try to remember more from their lives in an attempt to unlock any possible powers/gifts to further their strength as guardians and in doing so, come across another pairing that could be important to the group – Rebethannah & Nathayden – but something isn’t right with them and with no other clues, they have to go where they’re needed and that is back to Lake Haven where the Darkness is amassing.
In Lake Haven, Bethany/Bex remembers Leni & Jeric (which is unusual) and Leni is sure this Bex is Rebethannah, she feels the connection and the Darkness is hanging around… but does Bex feel the connection too and does she feel the pull of a soul mate? Bex is at risk of succumbing to the dark with her early years being so troubled, her mother currently dying of the consequences of the lifestyle she led and the cost of that lying solely on Bex’s shoulder but she has two men willing to be her ‘knight in shining armour’, the problem is which of the two is ‘the one’?.
Leni knows that she has things to learn but the biggest thing is to believe in herself….. can she do that in time to save Bex and reunite another pair of twin flames to help in the fight against the ‘Darkness’.

I really enjoyed this sequel and as I said, it had a different feel to book one because in this it wasn’t all boy meets girl, they clash, realise they’re soul mates, evade the bad guys, connect and live happily ever after….there are real issues here, very serious issues that are addressed and made this journey a very emotional one. Bex is a girl all too familiar – dragged up by a mother hooked on drugs/alcohol, forced to become the caregiver to her sister who was only a year younger only to be abandoned by her mother at age 8 into the care of her Grandmother where her life did get better, but only slightly. Her life is hard, living in a trailer, working 3 jobs to pay for her mothers’ care even though it goes against all of her principles to give the woman anything – so she is definitely ripe for the picking when Darkness descends upon Lake Haven and it’s easy to see how she would fall for two men that would promise her the world because she wants ‘the one’, she believes in soul mates but is disillusioned with life. For all that she is down on her luck & had a rough upbringing, she is still a fun character with a great attitude and you can see what type of girl she could be shine through now and again giving us a glimpse of the Bex that could be. It was a surprise to see that Bex was back in Leni & Jeric’s lives following their ‘misunderstanding’ in book one but it was great to be back in a familiar place and was a great way for Leni & Jeric to start believing in themselves and their capabilities. I liked that even though most of the focus was on Bex, that we still got quite a bit from those two aswell, seeing the problems and progress they’re making in their new position as guardians. There were still some hot moments between them were we could feel their love shining through too. The focus of this book is obviously on Bex and what she goes through, not so much the romance this time around as her drama more than makes up a big part of the storyline, yes she does get some sweetness but she also gets a lot thrown at her too and as a reader, I totally went through that with her – so be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It’s hard to give away the slightest thing when it comes to her ‘soul mate’ because as I mentioned – there is more than one vying for that spot – plus when you have the background of Rebethannah & Nathayden, you will understand how that will interfere with the present but I will say that it was different to book one in a big way and it opens up the world a bit more, it also brings ‘the book of phoenix’ back into the light and we learn a few new things about a special group of guardians that Leni & Jeric must learn to lead. I thought the issues that were dealt with throughout were handled very well and created a very emotionally charged finale that will leave you both devastated and hopeful, connecting to Bex on another level….. but also leading to a cliffhanger that will be felt by all and leave you desperate for book three.

My review:

Kristie has done it again! I have loved all her published books and she keeps surprising me. Whenever I think I've seen it all, she truly takes the story to the next level.
When the first book in The Book of Phoeniz series, The Space Between, came out, I was excited and I really waited for this one,for The Space Beyond. It's well-written, heart-wrenching, thrilling, captivating and has great developed characters.

Plot:

The Space Beyond takes off from where the first book ended.
Jeric and Leni have still lot to learn about what it means to be the Guardians and there are so many unanswered questions. The Book doesn't give any obvious answers to them and neither do their guides. It comes out, that Leni and Jeric are to lead the Guardians and the Phoenix, but Leni is insecure and Jeric doesn't really want to lead others. He just wants to be with Leni and make her happy.

When Leni and Jeric go back to the place they have once visited, Lake Haven, they meet with Bex, Ty and Dr. Mason Hayes. Leni has doubts if Bex is the one the Guardians are supposed to protect, but there are signs which refer to that. What is even more complicated is the process of finding out who is her other half, her Twin Flame.

What I loved about the book:

I loved the beginning of the story, the way the author refers back to the first book to fresh up the readers memory.

I loved the serious topics Kristie handels with care. There are emotional parts in this books which are very hard to read. It's not because of the writing, but it's because it deals with domestic abuse.

I loved how the author doesn't give everything away right from the beginning, so I kept guessing about the Twin Flames and generally, about how the story will end. I love surprises and that the plot wasn't obvious. It was well composed. And trust me, there's lot of that!

I think different point of views from different characters were well-written. Every POV was recognizable and had its own voice.

I enjoyed the writing style, the descriptions of the places, feelings, emotions and people were very good. The author made you feel pain, love, anger.. it was again the true art of writing which Kristie seems capable of delivering every single time she writes something. She is one of the authors whose writing I call art! She doesn't just tell you, she shoes you!

I loved the ending of the book. I did not see that coming! Kristie masters the art of cliffhangers, so be warned!

I loved the characters!

Characters:

Bex was my favorite! Her point of view (there are several of them) was the most significant of them and most fun to read. Bex is a girl you will love. She didn't have much of a childhood and she had to learn from very early years, how to take care of her sister, so she was hard working fun having woman. Work hard, party hard! When taking care of her younger sister and having three jobs to manage everything, she had forgotten about herself. She needed to love and to be loved, she was desperate for it and that made her making some mistakes, especially with men. I loved seeing her grow, becoming more self aware and getting higher self esteem.

I loved that Jeric had his hearing back and that he was slightly confused by all the emotions created by the sounds around him. I enjoyed, that Jeric didn't like the idea of leading somebody. It's very him, wanting to protect Leni more than anything.

Brock and Asia. You meet them very briefly in the first book, but here in the second book, they have an important role to play. I kept wondering about Asia's and Brock's relationship because it wasn't the typical Twin Flame love. The author left quite few questions open for the reader to guess. Asia was fierce, stubborn and easily lovable. I can't give much away about Asia and Brock without giving away spoilers, but trust me when I'm saying, that there are scenes in the book where you want to applaud for Asia!

You will meet two interesting male characters in the book and both of them had an interest in Bex. Tyson is a local guy, coming back from the military. He is hoping to win back Bex's heart. Mason wants to take Bex with a storm and he is quite convincing.

Generally:

Reading The Space Beyond is an exciting ride to take! The author captured you from the first chapter and keeps you literally in her hands until you have turned the last page of the book! I can't wait to read the last and third book of the series! I highly recommend it!

This book blew me away. It was like there was a book within a book. And like the subject of souls mates intertwining and merging , so did the stories within the book. I have always wondered if soul mates actually do exist. Then Kristie Cook brings soul flames into the mix. Soul flames are two souls that were once one whole. What a new and awesome concept! She wrote this book and the previous one in the series, 'The Space Between', in such a convincing and realistic way, that I now feel like soul mates and twin flames actually do exist. Its as if Kristie experiences being a soul flame herself and is now passing on the knowledge.

We begin the book with Jeric and Leni. They are recovering and trying to adjust to this new bizarre world they find themselves in. Not only that, destiny has chosen them as guardian leaders. Neither of them , especially Jeric, feel they are ready to take on this role. They still have so much to learn about being guardian and twin flames. There are still so many unanswered questions when they are sent on a mission. A mission which is unclear. Basically, they are given a puzzle, but all the pieces were scattered across the universe, in way.

Then we move on to Bex. The book within a book, in my eyes. Bex is a character who had a rough life. She is just trying to stay afloat by working three jobs to support her sister and dying mother. A mother who doesn't deserve her support. Bex yearns for love, so when an ex, Ty,who hurt her dearly, walks back into her life, she has to fight old feelings. She doesn't have to fight them off too long because another man walks into her life and sweeps her off her feet. But she is still torn between her past love and her new one. She begins to ponder if soul mates really do exist.

While Bex glows in love, something sinister and evil takes over her world. She didn't see it coming and couldn't ever fathom something this horrific lurked on the earth. Neither could I. O.K., this part of the book was extremely hard for me to read. For many reason, besides the obvious. Bex suffers unbearable pain by the one she loves. The one who she believes to be her soul mate. He is evil, cunning, and a disgrace to humanity. I am still cringing at what he does. The sad thing is, I know there are actually real humans on this earth that are so cruel.

All in all, I loved this book! I love the characters. I love the concept of soul mates and twin flames. It is a very powerful read!

I do not even know where to begin with this review. Have you ever read a book that gave you what is referred to as a “book hangover”? A book that stayed with you long after you have finished reading it, weighing on your thoughts for days! This is what Kristie Cook does to me, don’t get me wrong it is not a bad thing at all. If you have not read book one The Space Between, I highly recommend that you read it first. It will help to understand this book better.

The Space Beyond picks up pretty much where we left Lani and Jeric in The Space Between. They are learning more about what it means to be a twin flame again and what their mission is in helping others find their other half, soul mate or twin flame. But they have to find out more of who they are or should I say have been in their past lives, all of this will help them to become who they really are and what they are capable of doing. Part of being a twin flame and living multiple lives trying to reunite again as one they remember little bits of their old lives and the people they knew before. When a soul is reborn into a new body they still keep the soul that was them in all of their past lives. Their souls are recognized by one another, but it is more like a feeling of déjà vu. But by remembering memories they learn to recognize the soul thus remembering more of who they are.

There is a mix of paranormal and spiritual beings in this story, also some real life situations. This story had me on an emotional rollercoaster, part of the story could have been my life. I felt the emotions and the physical feelings of one of the characters, not something too many books I have read have ever accomplished. To many some parts may be too much to bear, but they are real life situations. These parts can help to bring awareness to those that maybe a witness and do not even realize it. You can be the help that someone so desperately needs. I feel this story is more than fiction, it can be an eye opener to many readers.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Space Beyond is the second book in Kristie Cook’s new adult, paranormal trilogy, The Book of Phoenix. The final book, The Space Within is scheduled to be released on July 14th, so no long wait to find out how it all ends. This is a very good thing since The Space Beyond ends with a cliffhanger.

In The Space Beyond, we continue to follow Leni and Jeric, Twin Flames and Guardians of Earth’s souls. I love Leni and Jeric. Their relationship is so sweet and passionate. We get to know a little about Asia and Brock, but not very much. There’s something strange with these two. I don’t know what yet, but something is going on there, and I’m very interested to find out what. We also get a couple of new characters: Bex, who we get to know really well in this book, and Nathayden, who remains a mystery for most of the book. There’s more I could say here, but I’ll leave it alone so I don’t spoil things for anyone.

I really enjoyed this book. For me, it wasn’t quite as good as the first book, but that could be due to the darker story line of the sad and very serious subject of domestic violence. I felt it was written well and believable. It is hard for someone who has never been a victim to understand how a person can get into this kind of situation. We may question how things can be overlooked and/or how the victim goes back time and time again. I believe until you walk a mile in that person’s shoes, you can never fully understand how it came about or the strength and support it takes to get out of it. I hope that we will all be helpers instead of judgers.

I would have liked to have gotten a few more answers than this book gave, which is the reason for my rating of 4. Overall, I enjoyed it very much and can’t wait to read the final book in a couple of months. I have so many questions that I can’t wait to have answered. I know I will miss living in this world when the series comes to an end.

Jeric and Leni's journey continues in the second installment of The Book of the Phoenix.

Jeric and Leni have a lot to learn. They are living in the mansion, and taking turns with Asia and Brock to guard the gate. Practicing their fighting skills, something happens at the gate that takes them by surprise...which leads them to their first mission.

Is Bex their mission? Leni feels a strong connection to her, but isn't quite sure why. She is told to go with her instinct, and the others will follow, but how can they when she is unsure herself? Leni keeps searching in the Book of Phoenix for answers.

The Space Beyond revolves around Bethany, aka Bex. We learn a lot about her past, and her struggles through life at such a young age, it's enough to make anyone go dark.

This second installment still holds a lot of mystery. Which makes it fantastic because there is still so much to learn. The story picks up the pace fast, and never stops. The whole plot is completely brilliant and creative, and you can't help but get lost in the world that Kristie has created. It has those hot and steamy moments that builds the warmth inside, however is not in any way limiting the excitement of the action and climax. Certain moments, wow, leaves your heart hurting and puts you on that emotional roller coaster.

This series is a must read. You can't help falling for all the characters. The writing is smooth, and I was easily thrown into the story with the visual popping in front of my eyes with the descriptive writing....the actual words just disappeared.

You MUST read this one!!

I actually focused on the romance aspect of the book (as I do all books) because well I don't have a romantic life and need to live through other peoples, and I have to say one of my favorite couples to live through is Jeric and Leni, I just really loved how passionate Jeric is when it comes to his woman, "the vision of my Twin Flame filled my mind several seconds before her physical self would fill the doorway. I couldn't tell you which was happier to see her - my soul or my di**. Both swelled to greet her." It's also apparent how much Leni has the hots for her man, "she sat on the closed toilet seat, though, and reached behind her for a towel. She stood up to hand it to me, and I couldn't control myself, especially as her sea green gaze raked down my naked body and lingered at my junk. It came to attention with no thought of my own." It's good to see that someone has self control when it's needed (hint it's not Jeric) "they're on their way right now," she said, before turning and sauntering out of the bathroom, her perfect a** swaying as she pulled the door closed behind her. Damn. The girl would be the death of me. Or at least of my di**. It wasn't used to not getting it's way every single time." I hated the ending, I wasn't expecting it to end that way, okay maybe I was just a tad as there is another book coming but Kristie is just always surprising us with these damn cliffhangers.

The Space Beyond is the 2nd book in Kristie Cook's Book of Phoenix series. In usual Kristie Cook fashion, she did not disappoint. She actually outdid herself! This book left me, quite literally, breathless!

We're already familiar with Leni and Jeric from The Space Between (Book One of the Book of Phoenix) but then we also get to know some other people like Bex, Brock, Asia, and Mason. The romance is smokin' hot but there are also some delicate issues that Kristie tackles in this book that are definitely not for the faint of heart. As always, Kristie writes about these types of issues with grace and she's done an absolutely beautiful job. My exact words when I finished the last sentence of this book were "HOLY SH*T!" and I sat there stunned for several long moments!

The Space Beyond is HIGHLY recommended and I give this 5 HEARTS!! I am so excited for everyone to get their hands on this book and I am very impatiently awaiting the release of The Space Within (Book Three in the Book of Phoenix) in July!

HOLYY CRAP!
Kristie Cook has done it again. The Space Beyond is a great second part to The Space Between. The journey with Leni and Jeric continues with new characters Brock and Asia and also Bex. The pace gets faster and the book gets more exciting with every page you turn. This book also brings in real life issues into the supernatural world and Kristie has wrote them amazingly. The third part can not come quick enough, which is out in July, I can't wait to continue the story of some of my favourite characters ever. This is definitely a 5 star must read. Kristie you never fail to amaze me well done.

If you haven't read any of Kristie's books you must starting with The Soul Savers Series first book promise.

The Space Beyond is out May 19th so go pre-order now.

This is definitely not your normal run of the mill paranormal story. It's deep, it's meaningful, it really gets you thinking about life after death, and about soul mates. It also broaches the subject of domestic violence, and substance abuse, all within an amazing story that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. Speaking of ends, what a cliff hanger!!! I can't believe I have to wait until July to find out what happens next! The whole Book of Phoenix series is amazing and I have no idea where author Kristie Cook gets her ideas! As long as she keeps getting them, and writing amazing books, I will always be a fan and recommend her books!

In this sequel to The Space Between, The Book of Phoenix series, we find our lovers embarking on their first mission to save a soul in danger of going dark. Leni and Jeric have no idea who the Darkness is after and finding the person before it is too late is harder than Leni and Jeric ever imagined. This story is a roller coaster ride for the reader and you should be warned of serious violence in the story. Can Leni and Jeric reach their target in time to save her from the darkness? Only way to know is to read this book. The Space Beyond (The Book of Phoenix, #2) by Kristie Cook

An emotional roller coaster with many twists and turns that will leave you with the wow factor. Kristie is an amazing writer who delivers this new installment with a darker edge than book one. Real issues such as domestic violence are written about so well that they provoke emotions while reading. However counterbalanced with the thought process of making the reader question what the true definition of soul mate is and how anyone could handle losing them.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

In addition to being a thrilling paranormal romance, The Space Beyond story tackles real-life issues of domestic violence and substance abuse in a heartfelt and realistic manner. This story took me through the entire realm of emotions. I laughed out loud, cried tears of heartbreak, and forgot to breathe with the raw emotions and suspense. Really a brilliantly written book. Please, if you're comfortable doing so, share this story with the world. It deserves to be read.

Love it......

Jeric and Leni have found each other as twin flames, along with Asia and Brock. Leni is the light and Jeric is the protector. He is supposed to follow her light. She believes the Bex in this time is the same as the Bex in her prior life. She also believes that Bex is also a twin flame and her other half is lost in another world.

Bex has issues, so does her sister Sissy. Their mother is dying and they must do what they can to help. She abandoned them long ago, preferring drugs and alcohol. Then Bex tried to find love in all the wrong places, especially in Nathan.

This is a fantastic book two in the series. Kristie Cool has done it agae.

Read on my friends.

There's trust and then there's The Space Beyond trust. Leni doesn't trust herself or her intuition and Jeric needs to trust himself so that he can lead them through the battles that they will meet but Jeric only wants to keep Leni safe. They are unprepared for their first mission which has them racing against time to save the soul the darkness has targetted. If they don't fulfil their responsibilities they risk themselves and the rest of earth's souls to the darkness. This series is getting better and better. Onwards to Book 3

Having had the pleasure of reading the first book in this series, The Space Between, and thoroughly enjoying it, I was pretty excited to dive into the sequel and see where the author was going to take these characters. Several months have passed since Leni and Jeric's souls have forged and a lot has changed. Their bodies have healed from their last battle, they're now living in the mysterious manor and training with the other guardians, and they've gained special abilities, along with other things. And we find them struggling to come to terms with their new life, their roles as guardians, and the high expectations that come along with them being leaders of their unique group. We also see them on the hunt for two very important guardians, Rebethanna and Nathayden. We're introduced to many new characters, including plenty of fellow guardians, and some old characters resurface. One character who plays a particularly big role in this story is Bethany, who popped up in the previous book.

Bethany's story was quite difficult for me to read at times. She struggled throughout the entire book and her life wasn't easy at all. She's had a difficult past, which is true for many of the characters in this series, and is busy working herself to the bone to support her sister and sick mother. There's a lot of darkness in her life, which is evident to those around her, an especially to the guardians. Even Bethany can feel the darkness slowly taking over, while she tries to hold herself together. Along with wanting to protect Bethany from the Lakari, Leni is also drawn to her on a much deeper level and feels like there's more to Bethany than they all realize. Bethany's love life is another huge struggle for her and she doesn't always make the best decisions.. I felt like Bethany was a bit naive at times and lacked some common sense at others, but I did enjoy her POV and became really invested in her story. I think she made for a great addition to this series.

Jeric is still struggling with having Leni involved in fighting the Lakari, as much as he knows it's inevitable and necessary, and is constantly at battle with himself. He has difficulty, up until the bitter end with trusting Leni's instincts, even though he's promised to do so. But, by the time the book ends, I think he may have finally learned his lesson. Leni, on the other hand, really embraces her role as the "light" for the other guardians and tries her best to embrace her new responsibilities. One thing that did frustrate me was this all-powerful, still mysterious, book that was supposed to somehow have all the answers. As of 67%, the book had provided them with hardly any help, save for one cryptic message that just left more questions than answers. I will say that at least the other characters shared this frustration, and the book did pull through eventually, but it was something that bugged me for most of the book.

Although Leni jumps head first into her new leadership role among the other guardians, her "super-intuition" was a bit disappointing at times. One character that pops up in this book is Rebethanna, a fellow guardian, and someone who us supposedly very close to several of the guardians, especially Leni. Leni is convinced that once she finally sees Rebethanna in person, she'll know immediately and have such a strong pull to her. The only problem with this is, when she does meet someone who she thinks is this mysterious Rebethanna, it turns out to be just a tiny "hunch" on her part that she's finally found her. I was really looking forward to these characters sharing an huge connection and, unfortunately, it wasn't there. At least not in the capacity I was hoping for.

I really enjoyed this installment in the Book of Phoenix series. I have to say, It did start off a bit rocky for me at first. Right when they finally had their first mission, and I was expecting some action and excitement, it seemed to hit a lull. The author jumped to a new POV, and it felt like I was starting a brand new book. I began to feel a bit disconnected to the original story pretty quickly after that and it bothered me for a while. Looking back on it now, it really doesn't bother me as much as it did while I was reading. I see now that we got two great stories, which is very similar to the first book, and the eventually tied together perfectly.

This book was beautifully, sometimes disturbingly descriptive. One scene in particular was pretty unexpected and extremely difficult for me to read. But the message behind this series remains incredibly sweet and the characters, old and new, really do work themselves into your heart. The ending was bittersweet, and will definitely leave you on the edge of your seat, wanting more. My heart broke for a few of the characters and I'm dying to know what happens next. As for the two new guardians we finally meet, I have a soft spot for them now and can't wait for them to get their happy ending.

Review originally posted at A Life Bound By Books.

4.5 stars.

I want to start this review at the end. Kristie Cook has made it so I am incredibly worried about one of my favourite book couples. I have two questions.
How could she do that?
Can we please have book three NOW?!

Jeric and Leni our favourite twin flamed dyads, have been living at the Phoenix manor for a few months. Learning what it is to be a guardian, learning to fight and guarding the Gate with other guardians, Brock and Asia. Finding out that Leni may be the key to finding broken lost souls before they turn dark. A new addition to the knowledge they have gained is that they are the leaders of the Sacred Seven; seven twin flame pairs.

When an unexpected occurrence happens at the gate, Leni and Jeric are soon set on their first mission to help a soul in need.

In The Space Beyond we are reintroduced to Bethany (Bex) when Jeric, Leni, Brock and Asia move back to Lake Haven. In The Space Between, Bethany didn’t really make that much of an impression on me; apart from the fact she was a distraction for Jeric. I actually hated her, for nearly ruining their relationship. I think that was a part of Cook’s success with this character. Stronger willed, yet unsuspecting Bex is soon to play a lead part in a storyline I was not expecting.

Bex has had a hard upbringing, many things have happened to her that could make her go dark; now she’s working three jobs to help cover her mother’s medical bills. When Dr Mason Hayes shows an interest in her; cue a life changing and sometimes scary storyline. It is a delicate subject for anyone to read about; but as you read on you understand that Bex will do anything to survive, and to protect the ones she loves.

Kristie has written a very sensitive storyline well, and the reader can’t help but feel for Bex. Although domestic violence has been brought up in a lot of my favourite shows, and a couple of the books I’ve read; I don’t think it has hit me as emotionally as it did in The Space Beyond. You know Bex is a good honest girl, who is just on the search for her soul mate- so why do things have to go so badly for her?

I can’t say a lot more without completely spoiling the book. It was a treat for me to be able to follow Leni and Jeric’s journey some more. Their relationship is blossoming and although we know their relationship can’t be any stronger- they were made for each other, two halves of a whole. Their reactions and the way they ‘read’ each other is perfect. Definitely a favourite couple of mine.

I’m looking forward to reading The Space Within in July, but at the same time I don’t want Jeric and Leni’s story to end.

If you haven’t already started reading The Book of Phoenix series, start now. They are a rollercoaster of events- steamy scenes, real life issues and the hunt for true love and soul mate.

Well what can I say I love kirstie cook. If for spme u know reson u have mot read any of her books u need to.

Leni stared at me for a moment, opening her mouth then closing it like a carp as she considered my question.

“Yes,” she finally said, and when I lifted my brow and sucked in a breath to argue, she held a hand up. “It’s not knowledge to be gained, Jeric. I don’t have to learn this. It’s intuition. Instinct. My soul talking to me. I know how that sounds, but look at our lives now. Look at what we do know and tell me that relying on our instinct, on our souls that have existed for eons compared to our measly human brains, isn’t what we’re supposed to do. That’s the lesson we’re supposed to learn more than any others. Am I right?”

She turned back to Brock and Asia, who both nodded.

“So we’re just supposed to cut off our brains and all logic?” I snapped.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Asia said with a sigh. “You just have to let your brain catch up to what you already know in your soul.”

I glared at each of them in turn, not sure why this bothered me so much. I’d practically vowed to trust Leni and her intuition, to accept her as our light to lead the way. And I knew deep down that she’d be right—that her soul would know exactly what we’re supposed to do. The “normal” side of me, the Jeric I’d been for the last twenty-three years, however, bristled at the thought of going out and being some kind of supernatural-like ninja, helping people who probably didn’t even know they needed to be helped. How were we supposed to do that anyway?

“So you think your soul will lead us right to whoever Rebethannah is now?” I demanded. “And you really think that’s our mission?”

Leni pressed her lips together and dropped her gaze to the blanket again. “I don’t know yet,” she nearly whispered, but then she lifted her eyes to me and raised her voice. “But it’s time to find out.”

The Space Beyond picks up from where The Space Between left off. I feel it pertinent to point out that if you have not read The Space Between, you really should prior to reading The Space Beyond.

The Space Beyond thrusts us back into the lives and love of Leni and Jeric as they set off to reunite two lost souls in danger of growing dark. If they are to be successful in their mission not only does Leni have to learn to trust her instincts, Jeric needs to trust that Leni can guide them wherever they need to go.

We are also reintroduced to Bex (aka Bethanny) and the book largely follows her exploration of the trials she‘s faced in her life and how they have shaped her.

Point of view switches between Jeric, Leni and Bex provide first hand insight into the thoughts and feelings of these characters.

Bex’s POV was my favorite – I love her character. She’s ballsy, sassy, and full of interesting and sometimes hilarious one liners. I felt everything she did, laughed when she laughed, cried when she cried – which for Bex, was not very often, but you see where I am going with this. The fact she pulled at my emotions is a testament to the writing. There is so much more I could say about her character but I don’t want to write anything that could (and would) be deemed a spoiler.

Kristie Cook also explores a sensitive subject and she does so beautifully. Some if it horrified me, as it should, the nature of the subject is nothing less than horrific to begin with so why write it any differently?

The Space Beyond is written so well that at times I found myself unsure of just who I should be backing. The twists blew me away, the surprises – unexpected. There were times when my jaw rested firmly on the floor and others where I wanted to scream ‘NO’!!!

If you are a lover of the genre, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It has a great plot that will have you firmly immersed in the story and invested in the outcome.

MIND BLOWN!!!!!!

Those two words are all that's coming to me right now lol. Kristie Cook does this to me every time, she just knows how to blow a persons mind.

From the first page I was drawn in, The Space Beyond starts where The Space Between left off. So we're back with our fave characters Leni & Jeric, they're starting to learn about everything and that they are meant to lead the guardians. Jeric isn't sure that's the right place for him and only wants to look after and be with Leni.

Leni & Jeric get their first mission to save a soul from going dark. Having no idea who this person is makes things a lot harder. Along the way we meet some new characters, loved Bex.

This story will take you on a emotional rollercoaster ride with twists and turns around every corner, characters you fall in love with (*coughs* Jeric *coughs*), and a doozy of an ending which will guarantee you coming back for more. I know what I'll be buying on payday lol.

Come get your mind blown by the gorgeous and amazing Kristie Cook, go get your copy of The Space Beyond or start at the beginning with The Space Between.

So in this, the second book in the trilogy, we follow Leni and Jeric as they come to terms with their obligations and responsibilities. Their struggle to remember who they are as opposed to who they thought they were. And more, their reticence in trusting their own instincts.

Their first mission has them second guessing themselves, and I really enjoyed how Leni and Jeric each deal with their issues in their own ways. Together but separate. Unity wrapped up in uncertainty.

And then there is Bex. Her character is written with a deft touch and her relationships with the other people in her life, particularly the men, are described in such a way as to catch the reader up in that very moment. By stages humorous, sad, loving and tragic. The rollercoaster which Bex rides through this tale will leave you out of breath and emotionally jostled.

I try not to do spoilers in these review but the ending will leave you wanting more. So much more. Fortunately, the final book in the tale is also available now. It has been added to the top of the leaning tower that is my to be read pile!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

This book was so much more than I expected. I knew it was going to be good, but it blew me away! This book follows Leni and Jeric while they travel to Earth on a mission. We get to meet up with some characters from book one, mainly Bethany who now goes by Bex. Her story has so many twists and turns that you won't see coming, its unbelievable! At times you have no idea who to root for, and other times you think you have it all figured out...but you later find out that you had no idea about anything! I thought it was very courageous of the author to write about certain topics in this book (gonna stay spoiler free here, don't worry). I think that having these topics in books helps to raise awareness, so I'm all for that! All in all, I loved this book! I cannot wait to read book 3 because I need to know what happens next!!!

I'm so glad I have this series another chance.. it's truly amazing.
A great thing this story includes - places where you can seek help for abuse. I already liked this author a lot, she's incredibly talented - but my respect for her has just sky rocketed.

Bex.... she has to be Bex from Jacey's life... it just has to be the same girl... but can she really be my soul sister? She's familiar... but it's not clicking like it did with Jeric - or even Asia or Brock. The Guides told me to trust my instinct, let's hope they were right, and I don't end up in a world of trouble.
Leni didn't end up in a world of trouble, she ended up in an entirely different world. Without her other half....
